1 And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan, and crowds gathered to him again. And again, as was his custom, he taught them. (Mt 4:25; Mt 19:1; Lu 9:51; Lu 17:11; Joh 10:40) 2 And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” (Mt 5:31; Joh 8:6) 3 He answered them, “What did Moses command you?” 4 They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to send her away.” (De 24:1) 5 And Jesus said to them, “Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. (Mr 3:5; Mr 6:52; Mr 16:14; Heb 3:8) 6 But from the beginning of creation, ‘God made them male and female.’ (Ge 1:27; Ge 5:2; Mr 13:19; Ro 1:20; 2Pe 3:4) 7 ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife,[1] (Ge 2:24; Eph 5:31) 8 and the two shall become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two but one flesh. (Mal 2:15; 1Co 6:16) 9 What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” (1Co 7:10) 10 And in the house the disciples asked him again about this matter. 11 And he said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her, (Mt 5:32) 12 and if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.” (1Co 7:11; 1Co 7:13) 13 And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. (Mt 19:13; Mr 10:48; Lu 18:15) 14 But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. (Mt 18:3; Mr 9:39) 15 Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” (Lu 8:13; Joh 3:3; Joh 3:5; Jas 1:21) 16 And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. (Mr 9:36; Re 1:17) 17 And as he was setting out on his journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” (Mt 19:16; Mt 25:34; Mr 1:40; Lu 10:25; Lu 18:18) 18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is[2] to enter the kingdom of God! (Job 31:24; Ps 49:6; Ps 52:7; Pr 11:28; Mr 2:5; Mr 10:23; Mr 10:32; Joh 13:33; Joh 21:5; 1Ti 6:17) 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mr 10:23) 26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him,[3] “Then who can be saved?” 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” (Ge 18:14; Job 42:2; Jer 32:17; Jer 32:27; Mr 10:23; Mr 14:36; Lu 1:37) 28 Peter began to say to him, “See, we have left everything and followed you.” (Mt 4:20; Mt 4:22; Mr 1:18; Mr 1:20) 29 Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, (Mr 8:35; Lu 14:26) 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. (Mt 6:33; Mt 12:32; Lu 20:35; Joh 15:20; Ac 14:22; 2Co 12:10; Eph 1:21; 2Th 1:4; 2Ti 3:11) 31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.” (Mt 19:30) 32 And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. And they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, (Mt 20:17; Mr 10:24; Lu 9:51; Lu 18:31; Lu 19:28) 33 saying, “See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles. (Mt 16:21; Mt 26:66; Mt 27:2; Joh 18:30; Joh 19:7; Ac 2:23; Ac 3:13; Ac 4:27; Ac 21:11) 34 And they will mock him and spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And after three days he will rise.” (Mt 26:67; Mt 27:26; Mr 8:31; Mr 14:65; Mr 15:19) 35 And James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to him and said to him, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.” (Mt 18:19; Mt 20:20; Mr 1:19) 36 And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” (Mr 10:51) 37 And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” (Mt 19:28; Lu 9:26) 38 Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” (Isa 51:22; Mt 26:29; Mt 26:42; Mr 14:36; Lu 9:33; Lu 12:50; Lu 22:42; Lu 23:34; Joh 18:11) 39 And they said to him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am baptized, you will be baptized, (Ac 12:2; Ro 6:3; Ro 8:17; Php 3:10; Re 1:9) 40 but to sit at my right hand or at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.” (Mt 19:11; Mt 25:34) 41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be indignant at James and John. 42 And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[4] (Mt 23:11; Lu 9:48) 44 and whoever would be first among you must be slave[5] of all. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mt 19:13) 49 And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” (Joh 16:33) 50 And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. (Mr 13:16) 51 And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” (Mr 10:36; Joh 20:16) 52 And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. 1 Dann brach Jesus von dort auf und zog nach Judäa und in das Gebiet auf der anderen Seite des Jordans. Auch dort versammelten sich viele Menschen bei ihm, und wie immer sprach er zu ihnen. (Mt 19:1) 2 Da kamen einige Pharisäer und versuchten, ihm eine Falle zu stellen. Sie fragten ihn: »Ist es einem Mann erlaubt, seine Frau wegzuschicken?« (Mt 19:3) 3 Jesus antwortete mit der Gegenfrage: »Was hat Mose euch denn für eine Vorschrift gegeben?« (De 24:1) 4 Sie erwiderten: »Mose hat erlaubt, dass ein Mann seiner Frau eine Scheidungsurkunde ausstellen und sie dann wegschicken kann.« 5 Da sagte Jesus: »Mose hat euch diese Vorschrift nur gegeben, weil ihr euer Herz gegen Gott verhärtet habt – und damit eure Hartherzigkeit ans Licht kommt.[1] 6 Gott hat am Anfang den Menschen als Mann und Frau geschaffen. (Ge 1:27) 7 Deshalb verlässt ein Mann Vater und Mutter, um mit seiner Frau zu leben. (Ge 2:24) 8 Die zwei sind dann eins, mit Leib und Seele. Sie sind also nicht mehr zwei, sondern eins. 9 Und was Gott zusammengefügt hat, das sollen Menschen nicht scheiden.« 10 Als sie dann im Haus waren, baten die Jünger Jesus wieder um eine Erklärung, 11 und er sagte zu ihnen: »Wer sich von seiner Frau trennt und eine andere heiratet, begeht Ehebruch gegenüber seiner ersten Frau. (Mt 5:32) 12 Und auch umgekehrt: Eine Frau, die sich von ihrem Mann trennt und einen andern heiratet, begeht Ehebruch.« 13 Einige Leute wollten ihre Kinder zu Jesus bringen, damit er sie berühre; aber seine Jünger fuhren sie an und wollten sie wegschicken. (Mt 19:13; Lu 18:15) 14 Als Jesus es bemerkte, wurde er zornig und sagte zu den Jüngern: »Lasst die Kinder zu mir kommen und hindert sie nicht daran; denn für Menschen wie sie steht Gottes neue Welt[2] offen. 15 Ich versichere euch: Wer sich Gottes neue Welt nicht schenken lässt wie ein Kind, wird niemals hineinkommen.« (Mt 18:3) 16 Dann nahm er die Kinder in die Arme, legte ihnen die Hände auf und segnete sie. 17 Als Jesus weitergehen wollte, kam ein Mann zu ihm gelaufen, warf sich vor ihm auf die Knie und fragte: »Guter Lehrer, was muss ich tun, um das ewige Leben zu bekommen?« (Mt 19:16; Lu 18:18) 18 Jesus antwortete: »Warum nennst du mich gut? Nur einer ist gut: Gott! 19 Und seine Gebote kennst du doch: Du sollst nicht morden, nicht die Ehe brechen, nicht stehlen, nichts Unwahres über deinen Mitmenschen sagen, niemand berauben; ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter!« (Ex 20:12) 20 »Lehrer«, erwiderte der Mann, »diese Gebote habe ich von Jugend an alle befolgt.« 21 Jesus sah ihn an; er gewann ihn lieb[3] und sagte zu ihm: »Eines fehlt dir: Geh, verkauf alles, was du hast, und gib das Geld den Armen, so wirst du bei Gott einen unverlierbaren Besitz haben. Und dann komm und folge mir!« (Mt 19:21) 22 Der Mann war enttäuscht über das, was Jesus ihm sagte, und ging traurig weg; denn er hatte großen Grundbesitz. (Ps 62:11) 23 Jesus sah seine Jünger der Reihe nach an und sagte: »Wie schwer haben es doch die Besitzenden, in die neue Welt Gottes[4] zu kommen!« 24 Die Jünger erschraken über seine Worte, aber Jesus sagte noch einmal: »Ja, Kinder, es ist sehr schwer, dort hineinzukommen! 25 Eher kommt ein Kamel durch ein Nadelöhr als ein Reicher in Gottes neue Welt.« 26 Da gerieten die Jünger völlig außer sich. »Wer kann dann überhaupt gerettet werden?«, fragten sie einander. 27 Jesus sah sie an und sagte: »Wenn es auf die Menschen ankommt, ist es unmöglich, aber nicht, wenn es auf Gott ankommt. Für Gott ist alles möglich.« (Job 42:2) 28 Da sagte Petrus zu Jesus: »Du weißt, wir haben alles stehen und liegen lassen und sind dir gefolgt.« (Mt 19:27; Lu 18:28) 29 Jesus antwortete: »Ich versichere euch: Niemand bleibt unbelohnt, der um meinetwillen und um die Gute Nachricht weiterzusagen etwas aufgibt. Wer dafür irgendetwas zurücklässt – Haus oder Brüder oder Schwestern oder Mutter oder Vater oder Kinder oder Felder –, (Mt 10:37) 30 wird das Zurückgelassene hundertfach neu bekommen: zunächst noch in dieser Welt Häuser und Brüder und Schwestern und Mütter und Kinder und Felder, wenn auch mitten in Verfolgungen, und in der kommenden Welt das ewige Leben. 31 Aber viele, die jetzt vorn sind, werden dann am Schluss stehen, und viele, die jetzt die Letzten sind, werden schließlich die Ersten sein.« (Mt 20:16) 32 Sie waren unterwegs nach Jerusalem; Jesus ging ihnen voran. Alle, die dabei waren, wunderten sich; die Jünger aber hatten Angst. Wieder nahm Jesus die Zwölf beiseite und machte ihnen klar, was bald mit ihm geschehen werde. (Mt 20:17; Mr 8:31; Lu 18:31) 33 »Hört zu!«, sagte er. »Wir gehen jetzt nach Jerusalem. Dort wird der Menschensohn nach dem Willen Gottes den führenden Priestern und den Gesetzeslehrern ausgeliefert werden. Sie werden ihn zum Tod verurteilen und den Fremden übergeben, die Gott nicht kennen.[5] 34 Die werden ihren Spott mit ihm treiben, ihn anspucken, auspeitschen und töten; doch nach drei Tagen wird er vom Tod auferstehen.« (Mr 15:15) 35 Da gingen Jakobus und Johannes, die Söhne von Zebedäus, zu Jesus hin und sagten zu ihm: »Lehrer, wir möchten, dass du uns eine Bitte erfüllst!« (Mt 20:20; Lu 22:24) 36 »Was möchtet ihr denn?«, fragte sie Jesus. »Was soll ich für euch tun?« 37 Sie sagten: »Wir möchten, dass du uns rechts und links neben dir sitzen lässt, wenn du deine Herrschaft angetreten hast!« 38 Jesus sagte zu ihnen: »Ihr wisst nicht, was ihr da verlangt! Könnt ihr den Kelch trinken, den ich trinke? Könnt ihr die Taufe auf euch nehmen, mit der ich getauft werde?«[6] (Mr 14:36; Lu 12:50; Joh 18:11) 39 »Das können wir!«, sagten sie. Jesus erwiderte: »Ihr werdet tatsächlich den gleichen Kelch trinken wie ich und mit der Taufe getauft werden, die mir bevorsteht. (Ac 12:2) 40 Aber ich kann nicht darüber verfügen, wer rechts und links neben mir sitzen wird. Auf diesen Plätzen werden die sitzen, die Gott dafür bestimmt hat.« 41 Die anderen zehn hatten das Gespräch mit angehört und ärgerten sich über Jakobus und Johannes. 42 Da rief Jesus alle zwölf zu sich her und sagte: »Ihr wisst: Die Herrscher der Völker, ihre Großen, unterdrücken ihre Leute und lassen sie ihre Macht spüren. 43 Bei euch muss es anders sein! Wer von euch groß sein will, soll euer Diener sein, (Mt 23:11) 44 und wer der Erste sein will, soll allen anderen Sklavendienste leisten. 45 Auch der Menschensohn ist nicht gekommen, um sich bedienen zu lassen, sondern um zu dienen und sein Leben als Lösegeld für alle Menschen hinzugeben.« (Isa 53:12; 1Co 6:20; 1Co 7:23; Ga 1:4; 1Pe 1:18) 46 Sie kamen nach Jericho. Als Jesus die Stadt wieder verließ, gefolgt von seinen Jüngern und einer großen Menschenmenge, saß da am Straßenrand ein Blinder und bettelte. Es war Bartimäus, der Sohn von Timäus. (Mt 20:29; Lu 18:35) 47 Als er hörte, dass es Jesus von Nazaret war, der da vorbeikam, fing er an, laut zu rufen: »Jesus, Sohn Davids! Hab Erbarmen mit mir!« (Mt 20:30) 48 Viele fuhren ihn an, er solle still sein; aber er schrie nur noch lauter: »Sohn Davids, hab Erbarmen mit mir!« 49 Da blieb Jesus stehen und sagte: »Ruft ihn her!« Einige liefen zu dem Blinden hin und sagten zu ihm: »Fasse Mut, steh auf! Jesus ruft dich!« 50 Da warf der Blinde seinen Mantel ab, sprang auf und kam zu Jesus. 51 »Was willst du?«, fragte Jesus. »Was soll ich für dich tun?« Der Blinde sagte: »Rabbuni, ich möchte wieder sehen können!« 52 Jesus antwortete: »Geh nur, dein Vertrauen hat dir geholfen!« Im gleichen Augenblick konnte er sehen und folgte Jesus auf seinem Weg. (Lu 7:50)
