Tell the Coming Generation

1 A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! (Ps 49:1; Ps 50:1; Ps 50:7; Isa 51:4) 

2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, (Nu 21:27; Ps 49:4; Mt 13:35) 

3 things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us. (Ps 44:1) 

4 We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done. (Ex 12:26; Ex 13:8; Ex 13:14; De 11:19; Jos 4:6; Job 15:18; Ps 78:11; Ps 78:32; Joe 1:3) 

5 He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, (Ps 19:7; Ps 81:5; Ps 147:19) 

6 that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, (Ps 78:4; Ps 102:18) 

7 so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments; (Ps 77:12; Ps 105:45) 

8 and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God. (Ex 32:9; Ex 33:3; De 9:7; De 9:24; De 31:27; 2Ki 17:14; 2Ch 30:7; Job 11:13; Ps 78:37; Jer 5:23; Eze 20:18) 

9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow, turned back on the day of battle. (Ps 78:57) 

10 They did not keep God’s covenant, but refused to walk according to his law. (2Ki 17:15) 

11 They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them. (Ps 78:4; Ps 106:13) 

12 In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan. (Nu 13:22; Ps 72:18; Ps 78:43; Isa 19:11; Isa 19:13; Eze 30:14) 

13 He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap. (Ex 14:21; Ex 15:8; Ps 136:13)

20 He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?” (Ps 78:15) 

21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; his anger rose against Israel, (Nu 11:1) 

22 because they did not believe in God and did not trust his saving power. (Ps 78:8; Ps 78:32; Ps 78:37) 

23 Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven, (Ge 7:11; Mal 3:10)

34 When he killed them, they sought him; they repented and sought God earnestly. (Ho 5:15)

36 But they flattered him with their mouths; they lied to him with their tongues. (Isa 29:13; Isa 57:11; Eze 33:31)

38 Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath. (Ex 34:6; Nu 14:20) 

39 He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes and comes not again. (Ge 6:3; Job 7:7; Job 10:9; Ps 103:14) 

40 How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert! (Ps 78:17; Ps 78:56; Ps 106:14; Ps 107:11; Eph 4:30) 

41 They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel. (Ps 71:22; Ps 78:18) 

42 They did not remember his power or the day when he redeemed them from the foe, (Jud 8:34)

44 He turned their rivers to blood, so that they could not drink of their streams. (Ex 7:17) 

45 He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them. (Ex 8:2; Ex 8:21) 

46 He gave their crops to the destroying locust and the fruit of their labor to the locust. (Ex 10:12) 

47 He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamores with frost. (Ex 9:23) 

48 He gave over their cattle to the hail and their flocks to thunderbolts. (Ex 9:19) 

49 He let loose on them his burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, a company of destroying angels. (Ex 12:13; Ex 12:23; 2Sa 24:16) 

50 He made a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague.

52 Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock. (Ps 77:20)

56 Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep his testimonies, (Jud 2:11; Ps 78:18; Ps 78:40) 

57 but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow. (Ps 78:9; Ho 7:16) 

58 For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols. (Le 26:30; Nu 25:11; De 7:5; De 7:25; De 12:2; De 12:3; De 31:29; De 32:16; De 32:21; Jud 2:12; 1Ki 11:7; 1Ki 12:31; Eze 20:28) 

59 When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel. (De 3:26; Ps 78:62; Ps 106:40) 

60 He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mankind, (Jos 18:1; 1Sa 4:11; Jer 7:12; Jer 7:14; Jer 26:6) 

61 and delivered his power to captivity, his glory to the hand of the foe. (1Sa 4:21; Ps 63:2; Ps 96:6; Ps 132:8) 

62 He gave his people over to the sword and vented his wrath on his heritage. (1Sa 4:10; Ps 78:59) 

63 Fire devoured their young men, and their young women had no marriage song. (Ps 79:5; Ps 89:46; Jer 7:34) 

64 Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation. (1Sa 4:11; Job 27:15) 

65 Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a strong man shouting because of wine. (Ps 35:23; Ps 73:20) 

66 And he put his adversaries to rout; he put them to everlasting shame. (Ps 40:14) 

67 He rejected the tent of Joseph; he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim, (Ps 80:1; Ps 81:5) 

68 but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves. (Ps 87:2) 

69 He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever. 

70 He chose David his servant and took him from the sheepfolds; (1Sa 16:12) 

71 from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance. (1Sa 10:1; 2Sa 5:2; 2Sa 7:8; Ps 28:9) 

72 With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand. (1Ki 9:4; Ps 77:20; Ps 101:2)

1 Ein Weisheitslied Asafs. Lausche, mein Volk, meiner Weisung! Neigt euer Ohr den Worten meines Munds! 

2 Ich öffne meinen Mund zu einem Spruch; ich will Geheimnisse der Vorzeit verkünden. (Ps 49:5; Mt 13:35) 

3 Was wir hörten und erfuhren, was uns die Väter erzählten, (Ps 22:31; Ps 44:2) 

4 das wollen wir ihren Kindern nicht verbergen, sondern dem kommenden Geschlecht erzählen: die ruhmreichen Taten des HERRN und seine Stärke, die Wunder, die er getan hat. 

5 Er richtete ein Zeugnis auf in Jakob, Weisung gab er in Israel und gebot unseren Vätern, ihre Kinder das alles zu lehren, (Ps 147:19) 

6 damit das kommende Geschlecht davon erfahre, / die Kinder, die noch geboren werden; sie sollen aufstehen und es ihren Kindern erzählen, 

7 damit sie ihr Vertrauen auf Gott setzen, / die Taten Gottes nicht vergessen und seine Gebote bewahren 

8 und nicht werden wie ihre Väter, ein Geschlecht voll Trotz und Empörung, ein Geschlecht, dessen Herz nicht fest war und dessen Geist nicht treu zu Gott hielt. (De 32:5) 

9 Die Söhne Efraims, Kämpfer mit Pfeil und Bogen, wandten den Rücken am Tag der Schlacht; 

10 Gottes Bund hielten sie nicht, sie weigerten sich, seiner Weisung zu folgen. 

11 Sie vergaßen seine Taten, die Wunder, die er sie sehen ließ. 

12 Vor den Augen ihrer Väter vollbrachte er Wunder im Land Ägypten, im Gefilde von Zoan. (Nu 13:22) 

13 Er spaltete das Meer und führte sie hindurch, er ließ das Wasser feststehen wie einen Damm. (Ex 14:21) 

14 Er führte sie bei Tag mit der Wolke und die ganze Nacht mit leuchtendem Feuer. (Ex 13:21) 

15 Er spaltete Felsen in der Wüste und gab dem Volk reichlich zu trinken, wie mit Wassern der Urflut. (Ex 17:6; Nu 20:11) 

16 Er ließ Bäche aus dem Gestein entspringen, ließ Wasser fließen gleich Strömen. 

17 Doch sie sündigten weiter gegen ihn, sie trotzten in der Wüste dem Höchsten. (Eze 20:13) 

18 In ihrem Herzen versuchten sie Gott: Sie forderten Nahrung für ihr Verlangen. (Ex 16:3; Ps 106:14) 

19 Sie redeten gegen Gott; / sie fragten: Kann uns denn Gott den Tisch decken in der Wüste? 

20 Zwar hat er an den Felsen geschlagen, sodass Wasser floss und Bäche strömten. Kann er auch Brot geben und Fleisch bereiten seinem Volk? 

21 Das hörte der HERR und ergrimmte; / Feuer flammte auf gegen Jakob, Zorn erhob sich gegen Israel, (Nu 11:1) 

22 weil sie Gott nicht glaubten und nicht auf seine Hilfe vertrauten. 

23 Da gebot er den Wolken droben und öffnete die Tore des Himmels. (Mal 3:10) 

24 Er ließ Manna auf sie regnen als Speise, er gab ihnen Korn vom Himmel. (Ex 16:4; Joh 6:31) 

25 Jeder aß vom Brot der Starken; er sandte Nahrung, sie zu sättigen. (Ps 105:40) 

26 Er ließ den Ostwind losbrechen am Himmel, führte in seiner Macht den Südwind herbei. 

27 Er ließ Fleisch auf sie regnen wie Staub, gefiederte Vögel wie Sand am Meer. 

28 Er ließ sie mitten ins Lager fallen, rings um ihre Zelte. 

29 Sie aßen und wurden reichlich gesättigt; er hatte ihnen gebracht, was sie begehrten. 

30 Noch aber hatten sie ihre Gier nicht gestillt, noch war die Speise in ihrem Mund, (Nu 11:33) 

31 da erhob sich gegen sie Gottes Zorn; / unter ihren Kräftigen schlug er zu und streckte die jungen Männer Israels nieder. 

32 Doch sie sündigten trotz allem weiter und glaubten nicht seinen Wundern. (Nu 14:11) 

33 Darum ließ er ihre Tage schwinden wie einen Hauch und ihre Jahre in jähem Schrecken. (Nu 14:22) 

34 Wenn er dreinschlug, fragten sie nach Gott, kehrten um und suchten ihn. (Nu 21:7; Isa 26:16) 

35 Sie dachten daran, dass Gott ihr Fels ist und Gott, der Höchste, ihr Erlöser. (Ps 92:16) 

36 Doch sie täuschten ihn mit ihrem Mund und belogen ihn mit ihrer Zunge. (Isa 29:13) 

37 Ihr Herz hielt nicht fest zu ihm, sie hielten seinem Bund nicht die Treue. (Ps 95:10) 

38 Doch er ist barmherzig, vergab die Schuld und vernichtete nicht. Oftmals ließ er ab von seinem Zorn und unterdrückte seinen Groll. (Ex 32:14; Nu 14:20; Isa 48:9; Ho 11:8) 

39 Denn er dachte daran, dass sie Fleisch sind, nur ein Hauch, der vergeht und nicht wiederkehrt. (Job 7:7; Ps 103:14) 

40 Wie oft haben sie ihm in der Wüste getrotzt, ihn gekränkt in der Steppe! (De 9:22) 

41 Immer wieder stellten sie ihn auf die Probe, sie reizten den Heiligen Israels. (Ps 71:22) 

42 Sie dachten nicht mehr an seine Hand, an den Tag, als er sie vom Gegner befreite, (Ps 106:21) 

43 als er in Ägypten seine Zeichen tat und seine Wunder im Gefilde von Zoan. (Ps 78:12; Ps 135:9) 

44 Er verwandelte ihre Flüsse und Bäche in Blut; sie konnten daraus nicht mehr trinken. (Ex 7:17) 

45 Er schickte einen Schwarm von Fliegen gegen sie, der fraß sie auf, ein Heer von Fröschen, das sie vertilgte. (Ex 8:17) 

46 Ihre Ernte überließ er den Grillen und Heuschrecken den Ertrag ihrer Mühen. (Ex 10:4) 

47 Ihre Reben zerschlug er mit Hagel, ihre Maulbeerbäume mit Körnern aus Eis. (Ex 9:18) 

48 Ihr Vieh überließ er dem Hagel und ihre Herden den Seuchen. (Ex 9:3) 

49 Er schickte gegen sie die Glut seines Zorns, / Grimm und Wut und Bedrängnis, Boten des Unheils in Scharen. 

50 Er ließ seinem Zorn freien Lauf; / er bewahrte sie nicht vor dem Tod und lieferte ihr Leben der Pest aus. (Ex 9:8) 

51 Er schlug in Ägypten alle Erstgeburt, in den Zelten Hams die Erstlinge ihrer Manneskraft. (Ex 12:29; Ps 105:36; Ps 135:8; Ps 136:10) 

52 Dann führte er sein Volk hinaus wie Schafe, leitete sie wie eine Herde durch die Wüste. (Ps 77:21) 

53 Er führte sie sicher, sie mussten nichts fürchten, doch ihre Feinde bedeckte das Meer. (Ex 14:19) 

54 Er brachte sie in sein heiliges Gebiet, zum Berg, den seine Rechte erworben hat. (Ex 15:17; Ps 114:2) 

55 Er vertrieb die Nationen vor ihnen / und verteilte ihr Land als Erbe und ließ in ihren Zelten die Stämme Israels wohnen. (Jos 24:8; Ps 44:3) 

56 Doch sie versuchten ihn und trotzten Gott, dem Höchsten; sie hielten sich nicht an seine Zeugnisse. 

57 Wie ihre Väter fielen sie treulos von ihm ab, sie wandten sich ab wie ein Bogen, der versagt. (Ho 7:16) 

58 Sie erbitterten ihn mit ihrem Kult auf den Höhen und reizten seine Eifersucht mit den Bildern ihrer Götter. (De 32:16) 

59 Gott hörte es und er ergrimmte, ganz und gar verwarf er Israel. 

60 Er gab seine Wohnung auf in Schilo, das Zelt, das er aufgerichtet hatte unter den Menschen. (1Sa 1:3; Jer 7:12) 

61 Er gab seine Macht in Gefangenschaft, seine Zierde in die Hand des Feindes. (1Sa 4:11) 

62 Er lieferte sein Volk dem Schwert aus und war voll Grimm über sein Eigentum. 

63 Die jungen Männer fraß das Feuer; den jungen Mädchen sang man kein Brautlied. (Jer 7:34) 

64 Die Priester wurden mit dem Schwert erschlagen; die Witwen konnten die Toten nicht beweinen. (1Sa 4:11; Job 27:15) 

65 Da erwachte der Herr wie aus dem Schlaf, wie ein Held, der betäubt war vom Wein. 

66 Er schlug seine Feinde zurück und übergab sie ewiger Schande. (1Sa 5:6) 

67 Das Zelt Josefs verwarf er, dem Stamm Efraim entzog er die Erwählung. 

68 Doch den Stamm Juda erwählte er, den Berg Zion, den er liebt. (2Ch 6:6) 

69 Dort baute er sein hoch ragendes Heiligtum, so fest wie die Erde, die er für immer gegründet hat. (Ps 48:3) 

70 Und er erwählte David, seinen Knecht; er holte ihn weg von den Hürden der Schafe, (1Sa 16:11; 2Sa 7:8; Ps 89:21) 

71 von den Muttertieren nahm er ihn fort, / damit er Jakob weide, sein Volk, und Israel, sein Erbe. 

72 Und er weidete sie mit lauterem Herzen und führte sie mit klugen Händen.

1 Méditation d’Asaph. Mon peuple, écoute mon enseignement, sois attentif à ce que je vais dire. (Ps 50:1) 

2 J’énoncerai des propos instructifs, j’évoquerai des secrets du passé. (Mt 13:35) 

3 Nous avons entendu et nous savons ce que nos pères nous ont raconté, 

4 nous n’allons pas le cacher à leurs descendants. Nous redirons à la génération suivante, ╵les œuvres glorieuses de l’Eternel, les puissants actes ╵et les prodiges qu’il a accomplis. 

5 Il a fixé une règle en Jacob, établi une loi en Israël, et il a ordonné à nos ancêtres ╵d’enseigner tout cela à leurs enfants, 

6 afin que la génération suivante ╵puisse l’apprendre et que les enfants qui viendront à naître, se lèvent à leur tour ╵pour l’enseigner à leurs propres enfants, 

7 afin qu’ils placent leur confiance en Dieu, qu’ils n’oublient pas comment Dieu a agi et qu’ils observent ses commandements, 

8 qu’ils ne ressemblent pas à leurs ancêtres, génération indocile et rebelle, génération au cœur trop inconstant, dont l’esprit n’était pas fidèle à Dieu. 

9 Les hommes d’Ephraïm, armés de l’arc, ont tourné le dos, au jour du combat. 

10 Ils n’ont pas respecté ╵l’alliance de Dieu, ils ont refusé de suivre sa Loi. (Jud 1:29; Jud 2:2; Jud 8:1; Jud 9:1; Jud 12:2) 

11 Ils ont oublié ses exploits et les hauts faits opérés sous leurs yeux. 

12 Devant leurs pères, Dieu avait fait des prodiges aux champs de Tsoân, au pays d’Egypte. (Nu 13:22) 

13 Il a fendu la mer, et il les a fait traverser, il a dressé les eaux tout comme un mur. (Ex 14:1) 

14 Il les guidait, le jour par la nuée, et la nuit, par la lumière d’un feu. (Ex 13:21) 

15 Il a fendu des rochers au désert, et les a abreuvés de torrents d’eau. (Ex 17:1; Nu 20:2) 

16 Du roc, il a fait jaillir des rivières, il en a fait sortir l’eau comme un fleuve. 

17 Mais ils péchaient contre lui sans arrêt, ils bravaient le Très-Haut dans le désert. (Ex 15:24) 

18 Dans leur cœur, ils ont mis Dieu au défi en réclamant à manger à leur goût. (Ex 16:2; Nu 11:4; Nu 11:31) 

19 Ils ont tenu des propos contre lui, disant: « Dieu pourrait-il dresser une table dans le désert? » (Nu 21:5) 

20 C’est ainsi qu’il a frappé le rocher, l’eau a coulé, des torrents ont jailli. « Pourrait-il aussi nous donner du pain ou procurer de la viande à son peuple? » 

21 L’Eternel entendit, il s’emporta, et un feu s’alluma contre Jacob: sa colère éclata contre Israël, 

22 car ils n’avaient pas fait confiance à Dieu, ils n’avaient pas compté sur son secours. 

23 Il donna ordre aux nuages d’en haut et il ouvrit les écluses du ciel. 

24 Pour les nourrir, il fit pleuvoir sur eux la manne et il leur donna le froment du ciel. 

25 Chacun mangea de ce pain des puissants, Dieu leur fournit à satiété des vivres. 

26 Il fit souffler le vent d’est dans le ciel, et par sa force, il fit venir le vent du sud. 

27 Il fit pleuvoir de la viande sur eux, ╵aussi abondante que la poussière. Il fit tomber une nuée d’oiseaux ╵aussi nombreux que le sable des mers. 

28 Il les fit tomber au milieu du camp, autour du lieu où se dressaient leurs tentes. 

29 Ils en mangèrent jusqu’à satiété. Dieu leur avait servi ce qu’ils voulaient. 

30 Mais leur envie n’était pas assouvie, ils avaient encore la viande à la bouche 

31 que la colère de Dieu éclata contre eux. Alors il frappa les plus vigoureux, abattant les jeunes gens d’Israël. 

32 Malgré cela, ils ont péché encore, ils n’ont pas eu foi, malgré ses prodiges. (Nu 14:1) 

33 Il fit s’évanouir leurs jours ╵de façon lamentable, et terminer leurs années dans l’angoisse. (Nu 14:22; Nu 14:28) 

34 Dieu les frappait, ils se tournaient vers lui, ils revenaient à lui, ╵en le suppliant instamment, 

35 se souvenant qu’il était leur rocher, que le Dieu très-haut était leur libérateur. 

36 Mais s’ils priaient, c’était pour le tromper: les propos qu’ils lui tenaient n’étaient pas sincères, 

37 car leur cœur n’était pas droit envers lui, à son alliance, ils n’étaient pas fidèles. 

38 Lui, cependant, rempli de compassion, leur pardonnait au lieu de les détruire, et, bien souvent, détournait sa colère, ne voulant pas déchaîner toute sa fureur. 

39 Il considérait qu’ils étaient fragiles: un souffle qui passe et ne revient plus. 

40 Que de fois ils se sont rebellés contre lui ╵dans le désert et l’ont offensé dans les lieux arides! 

41 A nouveau, ils mettaient Dieu au défi et ils attristaient le Saint d’Israël. 

42 Car ils oubliaient son œuvre puissante: comment il les avait sauvés de l’oppresseur, 

43 en Egypte, il avait fait des miracles, et, au pays de Tsoân, des prodiges, 

44 canaux et rivières changés en sang, nul ne pouvait plus s’y désaltérer, (Ex 7:14) 

45 mouches venimeuses qui les piquaient, grenouilles qui causaient leur ruine, (Ex 7:26; Ex 8:16; Ex 9:13) 

46 leurs récoltes livrées aux sauterelles et le fruit de leur labeur aux criquets, (Ex 10:1) 

47 leurs vignes ravagées par des grêlons et leurs figuiers sous les effets du gel, 

48 leurs troupeaux abandonnés à la grêle et leur bétail décimé par la foudre. 

49 Il déchaîna contre eux son ardente colère, son courroux, sa fureur, et les mit en détresse, en envoyant une armée d’anges de malheur. 

50 Il donna libre cours à sa colère, et il ne leur épargna pas la mort. Au contraire, il les livra à la peste. 

51 Il frappa tous les fils aînés d’Egypte, les premiers fruits de leur virilité ╵dans les logis de Cham. (Ge 7:13; Ge 10:6; Ps 105:23; Ps 105:27; Ps 106:21) 

52 Comme un troupeau, il fit sortir son peuple et il les conduisit dans le désert, ╵tout comme un berger conduit ses brebis. (Ex 13:17) 

53 Il les conduisit en sécurité, ╵les préservant de tout sujet de crainte, et la mer engloutit leurs ennemis. (Ex 14:26) 

54 Il les fit ensuite venir ╵sur son territoire sacré, il les conduisit jusqu’à la montagne ╵qu’il s’était par lui-même acquise. (Ex 15:17) 

55 Il chassa devant eux des peuples étrangers, et il attribua à chacun par le sort, ╵une part du pays en patrimoine. Il installa les tribus d’Israël ╵dans les demeures des Cananéens. 

56 Mais ils ont voulu forcer la main ╵au Dieu très-haut et ils se sont rebellés contre lui. Ils n’ont pas respecté ses lois. (Jud 2:11) 

57 Ils se sont dérobés ╵et se sont montrés traîtres ╵tout comme leurs ancêtres. On ne pouvait pas leur faire confiance ╵pas plus qu’à l’arc dont la flèche dévie. 

58 Ils l’ont irrité avec leurs hauts lieux, par leurs idoles, ils ont provoqué ╵sa vive indignation. 

59 Dieu l’entendit: il se mit en colère et il prit Israël en aversion. 

60 Il délaissa sa maison de Silo, le tabernacle, ╵où il résidait parmi les humains. (Jos 18:1; Jos 18:8; Jos 21:1; Jud 18:31; Jud 21:12; 1Sa 1:3; 1Sa 4:3; Jer 7:12) 

61 Il laissa partir en captivité ╵le coffre sacré, trône de sa force, et livra aux ennemis sa splendeur. (1Sa 4:4) 

62 En colère contre les siens, il abandonna son peuple à l’épée. 

63 Le feu consuma ses adolescents, et l’on ne chanta plus l’éloge ╵de ses jeunes mariées. (Isa 3:25) 

64 Ses prêtres périrent sous les coups de l’épée, ses veuves n’eurent pas droit à des larmes. (Job 27:15) 

65 Mais, tout à coup, l’Eternel intervint, tel un dormeur sortant de sa torpeur, tel un guerrier exalté par le vin. 

66 Il frappa ses ennemis à revers, il les couvrit d’une honte éternelle. 

67 Il écarta la maison de Joseph, ne choisit pas la tribu d’Ephraïm. (Ge 48:1) 

68 Mais il choisit la tribu de Juda, le mont Sion qu’il prit en affection. 

69 C’est là qu’il édifia son sanctuaire ╵tels les lieux élevés comme la terre établie pour toujours. 

70 Il a choisi son serviteur David et il l’a tiré de ses bergeries. (1Sa 16:11; 1Sa 25:7; 1Ch 17:7) 

71 Il l’a pris du milieu de ses brebis pour qu’il soit berger de Jacob, son peuple, et d’Israël qui est sa possession. 

72 David fut pour eux un berger intègre qui les guida d’une main avisée.
