My Soul Thirsts for You

1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. (2Sa 16:14; 2Sa 17:2; 2Sa 17:29; Ps 78:34; Ps 84:2; Ps 143:6; Isa 26:9; Isa 32:2)

2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. (Ps 27:4; Ps 78:61) 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. (Ps 69:16) 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. (Ps 20:1; Ps 20:5; Ps 28:2; Ps 104:33; Ps 146:2)

5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, (Ps 36:8) 6 when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night; (Ps 42:8) 7 for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. (Ps 17:8) 8 My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. Psalm 63

1 Ein Psalm. Von David. Als er in der Wüste Juda war. (1Sa 26:3) 2 Gott, mein Gott bist du; nach dir suche ich. Es dürstet nach dir meine Seele, nach dir schmachtet mein Fleisch in einem dürren und erschöpften Land ohne Wasser. (Ps 5:4; Ps 43:4; Jer 31:14) 3 So schaue ich im Heiligtum nach dir, um deine Macht und deine Herrlichkeit zu sehen. (Ps 42:2; Ps 68:25) 4 Denn deine Gnade ist besser als Leben; meine Lippen werden dich rühmen. 5 So werde ich dich preisen während meines Lebens, meine Hände in deinem Namen aufheben. (Ps 96:6) 6 Wie von Mark und Fett wird meine Seele gesättigt werden, und mit jubelnden Lippen wird mein Mund loben, (Ps 104:33) 7 wenn ich deiner gedenke auf meinem Lager, über dich nachdenke in den Nachtwachen. 8 Denn du bist mir zur Hilfe geworden, und im Schatten deiner Flügel kann ich jubeln. 9 Meine Seele hängt an dir^[1], deine Rechte hält mich aufrecht. (Ps 18:36; 1Co 6:17) 10 Jene aber, die ⟨mir⟩ zum Verderben^[2] nach meinem Leben trachten, werden in die Tiefen der Erde hinsinken. 11 Man wird sie^[3] der Gewalt des Schwertes preisgeben, der Anteil der Schakale werden sie sein. (Ps 44:20; Jer 18:21) 12 Und der König wird sich freuen in Gott; jeder darf sich rühmen, der bei ihm schwört; denn der Mund der Lügenredner wird verstopft werden. (De 6:13; Ps 31:19)
