The King of Glory

1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,^[1] the world and those who dwell therein, (Ex 9:29; Ex 19:5; De 10:14; Job 41:11; Ps 50:12; Ps 89:11; 1Co 10:26)

3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? (Ps 2:6; Ps 15:1) 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.^[2] (Ps 14:5; Ps 27:8; Ps 105:4) 7 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. (Ps 118:19; Isa 26:2; 1Co 2:8) 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! (Ex 15:3) 9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! (Mal 1:14)

1 Von David. Ein Psalm. Des HERRN ist die Erde und ihre Fülle, die Welt und die darauf wohnen. (De 10:14; Ps 50:12; 1Co 10:26) 2 Denn er, er hat sie gegründet^[1] über Meeren und über Strömen sie festgestellt. (Ge 1:9; Ps 89:12; Ps 136:6; 2Pe 3:5)

3 Wer darf hinaufsteigen auf den Berg des HERRN und wer darf stehen an seiner heiligen Stätte? (Ps 15:1) 4 Wer unschuldige Hände und ein reines Herz hat, er, der seine Seele nicht auf Falsches^[2] gerichtet und nicht zum Betrug^[3] geschworen hat. (Ps 26:6; Ps 51:12; Ps 73:1; Mt 5:8; Jas 4:8)

5 Er wird Segen empfangen vom HERRN und Gerechtigkeit von dem Gott seines Heils^[4]. 6 Das ist das Geschlecht derer, die nach ihm trachten, die dein Angesicht suchen: Jakob^[5]. // (Ps 27:8) 7 Erhebt, ihr Tore, eure Häupter, und erhebt euch, ihr ewigen^[6] Pforten, dass der König der Herrlichkeit einzieht! 8 Wer ist dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Der HERR, stark und mächtig! Der HERR, mächtig im Kampf! (Re 19:11) 9 Erhebt, ihr Tore, eure Häupter, und erhebt euch, ihr ewigen Pforten, dass der König der Herrlichkeit einzieht! 10 Wer ist er, dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Der HERR der Heerscharen, er ist der König der Herrlichkeit! // (Isa 6:5)
