1The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,2“Command the people of Israel that they put out of the camp everyone who is leprous[1] or has a discharge and everyone who is unclean through contact with the dead. (Le 13:46; Le 15:2; Le 21:1; Nu 9:6; Nu 9:10; Nu 12:14; Nu 19:11; Nu 19:13; Nu 31:19; Hag 2:13)3You shall put out both male and female, putting them outside the camp, that they may not defile their camp, in the midst of which I dwell.” (Le 26:11; Le 26:12)4And the people of Israel did so, and put them outside the camp; as the LORD said to Moses, so the people of Israel did.
Confession and Restitution
5And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,6“Speak to the people of Israel, When a man or woman commits any of the sins that people commit by breaking faith with the LORD, and that person realizes his guilt, (Le 6:2; Le 6:3)7he shall confess his sin that he has committed.[2] And he shall make full restitution for his wrong, adding a fifth to it and giving it to him to whom he did the wrong. (Le 5:5; Le 6:5; Le 26:40; Jos 7:19)8But if the man has no next of kin to whom restitution may be made for the wrong, the restitution for wrong shall go to the LORD for the priest, in addition to the ram of atonement with which atonement is made for him. (Le 6:6; Le 6:7)9And every contribution, all the holy donations of the people of Israel, which they bring to the priest, shall be his. (Ex 29:28; Le 6:17; Le 6:18; Le 7:6; Le 7:7; Le 7:9; Le 7:10; Le 7:14; Nu 18:19; De 18:3; De 18:4)10Each one shall keep his holy donations: whatever anyone gives to the priest shall be his.”
A Test for Adultery
11And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,12“Speak to the people of Israel, If any man’s wife goes astray and breaks faith with him,13if a man lies with her sexually, and it is hidden from the eyes of her husband, and she is undetected though she has defiled herself, and there is no witness against her, since she was not taken in the act, (Le 18:20; Joh 8:4)14and if the spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife who has defiled herself, or if the spirit of jealousy comes over him and he is jealous of his wife, though she has not defiled herself,15then the man shall bring his wife to the priest and bring the offering required of her, a tenth of an ephah[3] of barley flour. He shall pour no oil on it and put no frankincense on it, for it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering of remembrance, bringing iniquity to remembrance. (Le 2:1; Le 2:15; Le 5:11; 1Ki 17:18; Eze 29:16)16“And the priest shall bring her near and set her before the LORD.17And the priest shall take holy water in an earthenware vessel and take some of the dust that is on the floor of the tabernacle and put it into the water.18And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD and unbind the hair of the woman’s head and place in her hands the grain offering of remembrance, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And in his hand the priest shall have the water of bitterness that brings the curse. (1Co 11:5)19Then the priest shall make her take an oath, saying, ‘If no man has lain with you, and if you have not turned aside to uncleanness while you were under your husband’s authority, be free from this water of bitterness that brings the curse.20But if you have gone astray, though you are under your husband’s authority, and if you have defiled yourself, and some man other than your husband has lain with you,21then’ (let the priest make the woman take the oath of the curse, and say to the woman) ‘the LORD make you a curse and an oath among your people, when the LORD makes your thigh fall away and your body swell. (Jer 29:22)22May this water that brings the curse pass into your bowels and make your womb swell and your thigh fall away.’ And the woman shall say, ‘Amen, Amen.’ (De 27:15; Ps 109:18)23“Then the priest shall write these curses in a book and wash them off into the water of bitterness.24And he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that brings the curse, and the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain.25And the priest shall take the grain offering of jealousy out of the woman’s hand and shall wave the grain offering before the LORD and bring it to the altar. (Le 8:27)26And the priest shall take a handful of the grain offering, as its memorial portion, and burn it on the altar, and afterward shall make the woman drink the water. (Le 2:2; Le 2:9; Le 5:12)27And when he has made her drink the water, then, if she has defiled herself and has broken faith with her husband, the water that brings the curse shall enter into her and cause bitter pain, and her womb shall swell, and her thigh shall fall away, and the woman shall become a curse among her people. (De 28:37; Jer 24:9; Jer 29:18; Jer 29:22; Jer 42:18; Jer 44:12; Zec 8:13)28But if the woman has not defiled herself and is clean, then she shall be free and shall conceive children.29“This is the law in cases of jealousy, when a wife, though under her husband’s authority, goes astray and defiles herself, (Nu 5:19)30or when the spirit of jealousy comes over a man and he is jealous of his wife. Then he shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall carry out for her all this law.31The man shall be free from iniquity, but the woman shall bear her iniquity.” (Le 20:17; Le 20:19; Le 20:20)
Acerca de los impuros, de la restitución y de los celos
1Habló YHVH a Moisés, diciendo:2Ordena a los hijos de Israel que despidan del campamento a todo leproso, a todo afectado de gonorrea, y a cualquier contaminado por cuerpo muerto.3Expulsad tanto al varón como a la mujer. Los expulsaréis fuera del campamento para que no se contamine el campamento en medio del cual Yo habito.4Y los hijos de Israel hicieron así. Los expulsaron fuera del campamento tal como YHVH había hablado a Moisés. Así hicieron los hijos de Israel.5Habló YHVH a Moisés, diciendo:6Habla a los hijos de Israel: Cualquier hombre o mujer que cometa cualquier pecado en perjuicio del prójimo, prevaricando así contra YHVH, tal persona será culpable.7Confesará pues el pecado cometido, y restituirá el objeto del delito en su pleno valor, añadiendo a ello un quinto, y lo entregará al perjudicado.8Y si la persona no tiene pariente a quien se le restituya el daño, el objeto del delito será para YHVH, para el sacerdote, además del carnero de las expiaciones, con el cual hará expiación por el culpable.9Toda ofrenda alzada de todas las cosas consagradas que los hijos de Israel presenten al sacerdote, será suya,10y lo santificado por cualquiera será suyo, asimismo lo que cualquiera dé al sacerdote, será suyo.11Y habló YHVH a Moisés, diciendo:12Habla a los hijos de Israel, y les dirás: Cuando la mujer de alguno se desvíe y le sea infiel,13y otro hombre tenga relaciones sexuales con ella, y esto esté encubierto al conocimiento de su marido (porque cuando se amancilló no hubo testigo contra ella, ni fue sorprendida en el acto),14y le sobrevenga espíritu de celos, de modo que recele de su mujer, habiéndose ella mancillado realmente, o le sobrevenga espíritu de celos y recele de su mujer, sin haberse ella mancillado,15entonces aquel hombre llevará su mujer ante el sacerdote, y llevará su ofrenda por ella: una décima de un efa de harina de cebada, pero no derramará sobre ella aceite ni pondrá sobre ella incienso, porque es ofrenda vegetal de celos, ofrenda conmemorativa que renueva la memoria del pecado.16Entonces el sacerdote hará que se acerque y se mantenga en pie delante de YHVH.17Luego el sacerdote tomará agua consagrada en una vasija de barro, y del polvo que hay en el suelo del Tabernáculo, tomará el sacerdote y lo echará en el agua.18El sacerdote hará pues que la mujer se mantenga en pie delante de YHVH, soltará el cabello de la mujer y pondrá en sus palmas la ofrenda vegetal de recordación, que es la ofrenda vegetal de celos, en tanto que en la mano del sacerdote estarán las aguas amargas que traen maldición.19Entonces el sacerdote la conjurará y dirá a la mujer: Si no ha yacido contigo varón, y no te has descarriado de tu marido con mancilla, sé inocente de estas aguas amargas que acarrean maldición.20Pero si te has descarriado de tu marido y te has mancillado, y alguno ha tenido su copulación contigo, aparte de tu marido,21(el sacerdote conjurará a la mujer con juramento de maldición) dirá el sacerdote a la mujer: ¡YHVH te entregue a execración y a maldición en medio de tu pueblo, y haga YHVH que tu muslo caiga y tu vientre se hinche!22¡Penetren estas aguas portadoras de maldición en tus entrañas, haciendo hinchar tu vientre y decayendo tu muslo! Y la mujer dirá: ¡Amén, amén!23Entonces el sacerdote escribirá estas maldiciones en un rollo, las borrará con las aguas amargas,24y dará a beber a la mujer las aguas amargas portadoras de maldición, y las aguas de maldición penetrarán en ella haciéndose amargas.25Después el sacerdote tomará de mano de la mujer la ofrenda de los celos, y mecerá la ofrenda en presencia de YHVH, y la aproximará ante el altar.26Y el sacerdote tomará una pizca de la ofrenda, en memoria de ella, la dejará consumir sobre el altar, tras lo cual dará a beber las aguas a la mujer.27Cuando le haya hecho beber las aguas, ocurrirá que si ella se ha mancillado y ha sido infiel a su marido, las aguas de maldición penetrarán en ella haciéndose amargas, y su vientre se hinchará y se caerá su muslo, y la mujer llegará a ser por maldición en medio de su pueblo.28Pero si la mujer no se ha mancillado y es pura, quedará ilesa y tendrá descendencia.29Tal es la ley de los celos, tocante a una mujer que se ha descarriado de su marido y se ha mancillado,30o cuando sobre un hombre sobrevenga espíritu de celos, y recele a su mujer: Hará que la mujer esté en pie en presencia de YHVH, y el sacerdote le aplicará toda esta ley.31Y aquel varón será inocente de iniquidad, pero la mujer cargará con su iniquidad.
