1 Thus says the Lord: “Go down to the house of the king of Judah and speak there this word, 2 and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O king of Judah, who sits on the throne of David, you, and your servants, and your people who enter these gates. (Jer 21:12) 3 Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place. (Le 19:33; Ps 82:3; Isa 1:17; Jer 7:5; Jer 21:12; Jer 22:17; Jer 26:15)

4 For if you will indeed obey this word, then there shall enter the gates of this house kings who sit on the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they and their servants and their people. (Jer 17:25) 5 But if you will not obey these words, I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation. 6 For thus says the Lord concerning the house of the king of Judah: “You are like Gilead to me, like the summit of Lebanon, yet surely I will make you a desert, an uninhabited city.^[1] (Jer 6:8; Jer 22:20; Jer 22:23) 7 I will prepare destroyers against you, each with his weapons, and they shall cut down your choicest cedars and cast them into the fire. (2Ki 19:23; Isa 37:24; Jer 6:4) 8 “And many nations will pass by this city, and every man will say to his neighbor, “Why has the Lord dealt thus with this great city?” (Jer 5:19) 9 And they will answer, “Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God and worshiped other gods and served them.”’” (De 29:25) 10 Weep not for him who is dead, nor grieve for him, but weep bitterly for him who goes away, for he shall return no more to see his native land. Message to the Sons of Josiah

11 For thus says the Lord concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, and who went away from this place: “He shall return here no more, (2Ki 23:34; 2Ch 36:4; Eze 19:4) 12 but in the place where they have carried him captive, there shall he die, and he shall never see this land again.” (Jer 22:11) 13 “Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his upper rooms by injustice, who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages, (Le 19:13; Le 25:39; De 24:14; Isa 5:18; Mic 3:10; Hab 2:12; Jas 5:4)

14 who says, ‘I will build myself a great house with spacious upper rooms,’ who cuts out windows for it, paneling it with cedar and painting it with vermilion. (Eze 23:14) 15 Do you think you are a king because you compete in cedar? Did not your father eat and drink and do justice and righteousness? Then it was well with him. 17 But you have eyes and heart only for your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood, and for practicing oppression and violence.” (Jer 22:3; Jer 26:15) 18 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah: “They shall not lament for him, saying, ‘Ah, my brother!’ or ‘Ah, sister!’ They shall not lament for him, saying, ‘Ah, lord!’ or ‘Ah, his majesty!’ (1Ki 13:30; Ps 78:64; Jer 16:4; Jer 34:5)

25 and give you into the hand of those who seek your life, into the hand of those of whom you are afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of the Chaldeans. (De 1:17; Jer 34:20; Jer 39:17) 26 I will hurl you and the mother who bore you into another country, where you were not born, and there you shall die. (2Ki 24:8; 2Ki 24:15; 2Ch 36:10) 27 But to the land to which they will long to return, there they shall not return.” 28 Is this man Coniah a despised, broken pot, a vessel no one cares for? 29 O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord! (Isa 1:2) 30 Thus says the Lord: “Write this man down as childless, a man who shall not succeed in his days, for none of his offspring shall succeed in sitting on the throne of David and ruling again in Judah.” (1Ch 3:17; Jer 36:30; Mt 1:12)

Contra los reyes de Judá

1 Así me dijo YHVH: Baja a la casa del rey de Judá y habla allí esta palabra, 2 y di: Oye el oráculo de YHVH, oh rey de Judá, que te sientas sobre el trono de David, tú, y tus siervos y tu pueblo que entra por estas puertas. 3 Así dice YHVH: Haced lo recto y lo justo, y librad al despojado de mano del opresor. No maltratéis ni hagáis violencia al extranjero, al huérfano ni a la viuda, ni derraméis sangre inocente en este lugar. 4 Porque si de verdad obedecéis esta palabra, entonces entrarán por las puertas de esta casa reyes que se sienten sobre el trono de David, que monten en carros y caballos, ellos, sus siervos y su pueblo. 5 Pero si no escucháis estas palabras, por mí mismo he jurado, dice YHVH, que esta casa quedará desolada. 6 Porque así dice YHVH acerca de la casa del rey de Judá: Eres para mí como el bosque de Galaad, Como la cumbre del Líbano, Pero ciertamente te convertiré en un desierto, En ciudad deshabitada, 7 Y consagraré contra ti destructores, Cada uno con sus armas, Que talarán tus cedros más selectos y los echarán al fuego. 8 Entonces pasarán muchas naciones junto a esta ciudad, y cada cual dirá a su compañero: ¿Por qué ha obrado así YHVH con esta gran ciudad? 9 Y dirán: Porque abandonaron el pacto de YHVH su Dios, y se postraron ante dioses extraños y los sirvieron. 10 No lloréis al muerto, ni os lamentéis por él; Llorad con amargura por el que parte, Porque no volverá a ver jamás su tierra natal. 11 Porque así dice YHVH acerca de Salum ben Josías, rey de Judá, el cual reinó en lugar de su padre Josías, el cual ha salido de este lugar: No volverá más aquí, 12 En el lugar adonde lo han llevado cautivo, Allí morirá, y no verá más esta tierra. 13 ¡Ay del que edifica su casa con injusticia, Y sus aposentos altos sin equidad, Que exige el servicio de su prójimo de balde, Y no le da la paga de su trabajo! 14 Que dice: Me edificaré una casa espaciosa con amplios salones, Le abriré ventanas, Le pondré artesonados de cedro, La pintaré de bermellón. 15 ¿Piensas que eres rey porque compites en obras de cedro? Si tu padre comió y bebió y le fue bien, Es porque practicó la justicia y el derecho. 16 Hizo justicia a pobres e indigentes, por eso le fue bien. ¿No fue eso conocerme a mí?, dice YHVH. 17 Pero tus ojos y tu corazón no están más que para tu egoísmo, Para derramar la sangre inocente, Para la opresión y para la violencia. 18 Por tanto, así dice YHVH acerca de Joacim ben Josías, rey de Judá: No lo llorarán, diciendo: ¡Ay hermano mío!, ¡ay hermana! Ni lo plañirán: ¡Ay señor!, ¡Ay majestad! 19 Lo enterrarán como un asno: Lo arrastrarán y lo tirarán fuera de las puertas de Jerusalem. 20 Sube al Líbano y clama, Eleva tu voz en Basán; Clama desde el Abarim, Porque todos tus amantes han sido destruidos. 21 En tu gran prosperidad te hablé, Pero dijiste: No escucharé. Éste ha sido tu camino desde tu juventud: Nunca escuchaste mi voz. 22 El viento pastoreará a todos tus pastores, Y tus amantes irán al cautiverio. Ciertamente serás avergonzada y confundida Por todas tus maldades. 23 Oh moradora del Líbano, Que haces tu nido en los cedros, ¡Cuán lastimosa serás cuando te acometan las angustias, Los dolores como de parturienta! 24 ¡Vivo Yo!, dice YHVH, que aunque Conías ben Joacim, rey de Judá, fuera anillo de sellar en mi diestra, aun de allí te arrancaría. 25 Te entregaré en mano de los que buscan tu vida, en mano de aquellos que tú temes: en mano de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y en mano de los caldeos. 26 Y te arrojaré a ti y a tu madre, la que te dio a luz, a un país extraño, donde no nacisteis, y allí moriréis; 27 y no volverán a la tierra que ansían volver. 28 Ese Conías, ¿es una vasija rota, despreciable, un trasto inútil? ¿Por qué lo expulsan con su estirpe, y lo echan a una tierra desconocida? 29 ¡Tierra, tierra, tierra!, Oye el oráculo de YHVH; 30 Así dice YHVH: Inscribid a este hombre como sin hijos, Como varón malogrado en la vida, Porque ninguno de su descendencia llegará a sentarse en el trono de David para reinar en Judá.
