1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. (Mt 12:38; Mr 8:11; Lu 11:16; Lu 21:11; Joh 8:6; 1Co 1:22) 2 He answered them,[1] “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ (Lu 12:54) 3 And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. (Mt 12:28; Lu 12:56; Lu 19:44) 4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed. (Mt 4:13; Mt 12:39; Mt 21:17) 5 When the disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Lu 12:1; 1Co 5:6; Ga 5:9) 7 And they began discussing it among themselves, saying, “We brought no bread.” 8 But Jesus, aware of this, said, “O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? (Mt 6:30; Mt 26:10) 9 Do you not yet perceive? Do you not remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? (Mt 14:17; Mt 15:16) 10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? (Mt 15:34) 11 How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about bread? Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Mt 16:6) 12 Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. (Mt 5:20; Mt 17:13; Mt 23:3) 13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” (Mr 8:27; Lu 9:18) 14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” (Mt 14:2; Mt 17:10; Mr 6:14; Mr 6:15; Mr 9:11; Lu 9:7; Lu 9:8; Joh 1:21) 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (De 5:26; Jos 3:10; Ps 42:2; Jer 10:10; Da 6:20; Ho 1:10; Mt 1:17; Mt 14:33; Joh 11:27; Ac 14:15; 2Co 3:3; 1Ti 4:10) 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. (Mt 11:25; Mt 13:16; Joh 1:42; Joh 6:45; Joh 21:15; 1Co 2:10; 1Co 12:3; 1Co 15:50; Ga 1:16; Eph 6:12; Heb 2:14) 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock[2] I will build my church, and the gates of hell[3] shall not prevail against it. (Job 38:17; Isa 38:10; Mt 7:24; Mt 10:2; Mt 11:23; Joh 1:42; Eph 2:20; Re 21:14) 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed[4] in heaven.” (Isa 22:22; Mt 18:18; Joh 20:23; Re 1:18; Re 3:7) 20 Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ. (Mt 12:16; Mt 17:9; Mr 8:30; Lu 9:21) 21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. (Mt 17:12; Mt 17:22; Mt 20:17; Mt 20:18; Mt 27:63; Mr 8:31; Lu 9:22; Lu 13:33; Lu 24:7; Joh 2:19) 22 And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord![5] This shall never happen to you.” 23 But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance[6] to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” (Mt 4:10; Mt 13:41; Ro 8:5; Php 2:5; Php 3:19; Col 3:2) 24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. (Mt 10:38; 2Ti 2:12) 25 For whoever would save his life[7] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Mt 16:24) 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? (Ps 49:7; Lu 12:20) 27 For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 1 Тогава фарисеите и садукеите дойдоха при Исус и за да Го изпитат, поискаха Му да им покаже знамение от небето. (Mt 12:38; Mr 8:10; Mr 8:11; Lu 11:16; Lu 12:54; 1Co 1:22) 2 А Той им отговори: Когато се свечери, казвате: Времето ще бъде хубаво, защото небето се червенее; 3 а сутрин: Днес времето ще бъде лошо, защото небето се червенее намръщено. Вие знаете да разтълкувате изгледа[1] на небето, а знаменията на времената не можете! 4 Зъл и прелюбодеен род иска знамение, но друго знамение няма да му се даде освен знамението на (пророк) Йона. И ги остави и си отиде. (Mt 12:39) 5 А учениците, като минаха на отвъдната страна, забравиха да вземат хляб. (Mr 8:14) 6 И Исус им каза: Внимавайте и се пазете от кваса на фарисеите и садукеите. (Mr 8:15; Lu 12:1) 7 И те разискваха помежду си, като казваха: Това е, защото не сме взели хляб. 8 А Исус, като разбра това, каза: Маловерци, защо разисквате помежду си, понеже нямате хляб? 9 Още ли не разбирате, нито помните петте хляба на петте хиляди души и колко коша събрахте; (Mt 14:17; Joh 6:9) 10 нито седемте хляба на четирите хиляди души и колко кошници събрахте? (Mt 15:34) 11 Как не разбирате, че не заради хляба ви казах да се пазите от кваса на фарисеите и садукеите? 12 Тогава те разбраха, че не им заръча да се пазят от хлебен квас, а от учението на фарисеите и садукеите. 13 А Исус, като дойде в околностите на Цезарея Филипова, попита учениците Си: Според както казват хората, Кой е Човешкият Син? (Da 7:13; Da 7:14; Mr 8:27; Lu 9:18) 14 А те отвърнаха: Едни казват, че е Йоан Кръстител; други пък – Илия; а други – Йеремия или един от пророците. (Mt 14:2; Lu 9:7) 15 Попита ги: А вие какво казвате: Кой съм Аз? 16 Симон Петър отговори: Ти си Христос[2], Син на живия Бог. (Mt 14:33; Mr 8:29; Lu 9:20; Joh 6:69; Joh 11:27; Ac 8:37; Ac 9:20; Heb 1:2; Heb 1:5; 1Jo 4:15; 1Jo 5:5) 17 Исус му каза: Блажен си, Симоне, сине Йонов, защото плът и кръв не са ти открили това, но Моят Отец, Който е на небесата. (Mt 18:18; Joh 20:23) 20 Тогава заръча на учениците на никого да не казват, че Той е Христос. (Mt 17:9; Mr 8:30; Lu 9:21) 21 Оттогава Исус започна да открива на учениците Си, че трябва да отиде в Йерусалим, много да пострада от старейшините, главните свещеници и книжниците, да бъде убит и на третия ден да бъде възкресен. (Mt 20:18; Mr 8:31; Mr 9:31; Mr 10:33; Lu 9:22; Lu 18:31; Lu 24:6; Lu 24:7) 22 Тогава Петър Го дръпна настрана и започна да Го мъмри, като казваше: Бог да Ти се смили, Господи; това никак няма да стане с Теб. 23 А Той се обърна и каза на Петър: Махни се от Мене, Сатана; ти си Ми съблазън; защото не мислиш за Божиите неща, а за човешките. (2Sa 19:22; Ro 8:7) 24 Тогава Исус каза на учениците Си: Ако иска някой да дойде след Мене, нека се отрече от себе си, нека вдигне кръста си и нека Ме последва. (Mt 10:38; Mr 8:34; Lu 9:23; Lu 14:27; Ac 14:22; 2Ti 3:12) 25 Защото, който иска да спаси живота[4] си, ще го загуби; а който загуби живота[5] си заради Мене, ще го спечели. (Lu 17:33; Joh 12:25) 26 Понеже каква полза ще има човек, ако спечели целия свят, а живота си изгуби, или какво ще даде човек в замяна на живота си? (Ps 49:7; Ps 49:8) 27 Защото Човешкият Син ще дойде в славата на Своя Отец със Своите ангели; и тогава ще въздаде на всеки според делата му.
