Der verdorrende Feigenbaum und das Glaubensgebet

(Mt 4,2; Lk 4,2; Hebr 4,15)19Und als er einen Feigenbaum an dem Weg sah, ging er auf ihn zu und fand nichts an ihm als nur Blätter. Und er spricht zu ihm: Nie mehr komme Frucht von dir in Ewigkeit[4]! Und sogleich verdorrte der Feigenbaum. Die Frage nach der Vollmacht Jesu
23Und als er in den Tempel kam, traten, als er lehrte, die Hohen Priester und die Ältesten des Volkes zu ihm und sprachen: In welcher Vollmacht tust du diese Dinge? Und wer hat dir diese Vollmacht gegeben? (Joh 2,18; Apg 4,7)24Jesus aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Auch ich will euch ein Wort fragen, und wenn ihr es mir sagt, so werde auch ich euch sagen, in welcher Vollmacht ich diese Dinge tue. (Mt 22,41)25Woher war die Taufe des Johannes? Vom Himmel oder von Menschen? Sie aber überlegten bei sich selbst und sprachen: Wenn wir sagen: vom Himmel, so wird er zu uns sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm denn nicht geglaubt? (Mt 11,18; Joh 3,27)26Wenn wir aber sagen: von Menschen, so haben wir die Volksmenge zu fürchten, denn alle halten Johannes für einen Propheten. (Mt 11,9)27Und sie antworteten Jesus und sprachen: Wir wissen es nicht. Da sagte auch er zu ihnen: So sage auch ich euch nicht, in welcher Vollmacht ich diese Dinge tue.
Gleichnis von den ungleichen Söhnen
28Was meint ihr aber ⟨hierzu⟩? Ein Mensch hatte zwei Kinder, und er trat hin zu dem ersten und sprach: Kind, geh heute hin, arbeite im Weinberg!29Der aber antwortete und sprach: Ich will nicht. Gleichnis von den Weingärtnern
33Hört ein anderes Gleichnis: Es war ein Hausherr, der einen Weinberg pflanzte und einen Zaun darum setzte und eine Kelter darin grub und einen Turm baute; und er verpachtete ihn an Weingärtner und reiste außer Landes. (Ps 80,9; Jes 5,2; Mt 25,14; Mk 13,34)34Als aber die Zeit der Früchte nahte, sandte er seine Knechte[6] zu den Weingärtnern, um seine Früchte zu empfangen.35Und die Weingärtner nahmen seine Knechte, einen schlugen sie, einen anderen töteten sie, einen anderen steinigten sie. (2Chr 24,21; Neh 9,26; Mt 22,6; Mt 23,37; Lk 6,23)36Wiederum sandte er andere Knechte, mehr als die ersten; und sie taten ihnen ebenso. Jesus at the temple
12Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers and the benches of those selling doves.13‘It is written,’ he said to them, ‘ “My house will be called a house of prayer,” but you are making it “a den of robbers.” ’ (Jes 56,7; Jer 7,11)14The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them.15But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, ‘Hosanna to the Son of David,’ they were indignant.16‘Do you hear what these children are saying?’ they asked him. ‘Yes,’ replied Jesus, ‘have you never read, ‘ “From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise”[3]?’ (Ps 8,2)17And he left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.
Jesus curses a fig-tree
18Early in the morning, as Jesus was on his way back to the city, he was hungry.19Seeing a fig-tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, ‘May you never bear fruit again!’ Immediately the tree withered.20When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. ‘How did the fig-tree wither so quickly?’ they asked.21Jesus replied, ‘Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig-tree, but also you can say to this mountain, “Go, throw yourself into the sea,” and it will be done.22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.’
The authority of Jesus questioned
23Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. ‘By what authority are you doing these things?’ they asked. ‘And who gave you this authority?’24Jesus replied, ‘I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things.25John’s baptism – where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or of human origin?’ They discussed it among themselves and said, ‘If we say, “From heaven”, he will ask, “Then why didn’t you believe him?”26But if we say, “Of human origin” – we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet.’27So they answered Jesus, ‘We don’t know.’ Then he said, ‘Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.
The parable of the two sons
28‘What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, “Son, go and work today in the vineyard.”29‘ “I will not,” he answered, but later he changed his mind and went.30‘Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, “I will, sir,” but he did not go.31‘Which of the two did what his father wanted?’ ‘The first,’ they answered. Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.32For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
The parable of the tenants
33‘Listen to another parable: there was a landowner who planted a vineyard. He put a wall round it, dug a winepress in it and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and moved to another place.34When the harvest time approached, he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his fruit.35‘The tenants seized his servants; they beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.36Then he sent other servants to them, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them in the same way.37Last of all, he sent his son to them. “They will respect my son,” he said.38‘But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, “This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and take his inheritance.”39So they took him and threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.40‘Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?’41‘He will bring those wretches to a wretched end,’ they replied, ‘and he will rent the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.’42Jesus said to them, ‘Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘ “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvellous in our eyes”? (Ps 118,22; Ps 118,23)43‘Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.44Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.’[4]45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard Jesus’ parables, they knew he was talking about them.46They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet.

I capi giudei tendono la loro trappola

Mentre stava insegnando, i primi sacerdoti e gli altri capi giudei gli si avvicinarono per domandargli con quale autorità il giorno prima avesse cacciato i mercanti.24«Ve lo dico, se prima rispondete ad una domanda», rispose Gesù.25«Secondo voi, Giovanni Battista fu mandato da Dio o no?» Essi cominciarono a discutere fra loro. «Se diciamo: “Da Dio”,» dicevano, «allora ci chiederà perché non abbiamo creduto a ciò che diceva Giovanni.26Se, invece, diciamo che non fu Dio a mandarlo rischiamo di essere linciati, perché tutta questa gente crede che Giovanni sia un profeta».27Finalmente risposero: «Non lo sappiamo!» Allora Gesù disse: «In tal caso neppure io risponderò alla vostra domanda.28Voglio però il vostro parere su questo fatto. Un uomo con due figli disse al maggiore: “Figliuolo, vai a lavorare nella vigna, oggi”.29“Non ne ho voglia”, gli rispose il figlio, ma più tardi cambiò idea e vi andò.30Poi il padre disse al minore: “Vai a lavorare!” Ed egli rispose: “Sì ci vado”. Ma non lo fece.31Secondo voi, chi dei due obbedì a suo padre?» «Il primo, naturalmente», risposero. Allora Gesù disse: «Sicuramente ladri e prostitute entreranno nel Regno prima di voi.32Perché, quando Giovanni Battista vʼinvitò a pentirvi e a convertirvi a Dio, voi non gli avete dato ascolto, mentre gli hanno creduto dei ladri e delle prostitute. E perfino quando avete visto ciò che accadeva davanti ai vostri occhi, non avete voluto cambiare idea e avete continuato a non credergli.33Ascoltate ora questa storia: un proprietario terriero piantò una vigna con una siepe intorno, scavò una buca per pigiare lʼuva e fece costruire una piattaforma per il guardiano, poi affittò la vigna ad alcuni contadini con un contratto di mezzadria e se ne andò a vivere in un altro paese.34Al tempo della vendemmia, mandò dei suoi dipendenti dai contadini per ritirare la sua parte.35Ma i contadini aggredirono i suoi uomini, ne malmenarono uno, ne uccisero un altro e ne lapidarono un terzo.36Allora il proprietario mandò molti altri suoi uomini a richiedere la parte che gli spettava, ma il risultato fu lo stesso.37Finalmente il padrone mandò suo figlio, pensando che avrebbero senzʼaltro avuto rispetto di lui.38Invece, quando quei contadini videro il figlio avvicinarsi, dissero fra loro: “Ecco lʼerede di questa proprietà; venite, uccidiamolo, così ce la terremo per noi!”39Allora lo presero, lo gettarono fuori dalla vigna e lo uccisero.40E ora ditemi: quando il padrone tornerà, che cosa farà a quei contadini?»41«Li farà morire fra atroci sofferenze e affitterà la vigna ad altri, pronti a pagare il dovuto», risposero i capi giudei.42Allora Gesù chiese loro: «Non avete mai letto nelle Scritture: “La pietra che i costruttori hanno scartato è diventata la pietra angolare, la pietra più importante dellʼedificio! Questa è lʼopera del Signore, una meraviglia per i nostri occhi!”43Intendo dire che il Regno di Dio vi sarà tolto e sarà dato ad un popolo che farà crescere i frutti.44Tutti quelli che inciamperanno in questa pietra di verità, saranno sfracellati, e quelli su cui cadrà, saranno ridotti in polvere!»45Quando i primi sacerdoti e gli altri capi giudei si accorsero che Gesù stava parlando di loro (erano loro i malvagi contadini della sua storia),46avrebbero voluto liberarsi di lui, ma non osavano, perché la folla considerava Gesù un profeta.
