1So hat der HERR zu mir gesprochen: Geh und kaufe dir einen leinenen Hüftschurz und lege ihn um deine Hüften! Aber ins Wasser sollst du ihn nicht bringen. (Jes 20,3; Jer 18,2; Jer 19,1; Jer 27,2; Jer 43,9)2Und ich kaufte den Hüftschurz nach dem Wort des HERRN und legte ihn um meine Hüften.3Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir zum zweiten Mal:4Nimm den Hüftschurz, den du gekauft hast, der um deine Hüften ist, und mach dich auf, geh an den Euphrat und verbirg ihn dort in einer Felsspalte! (Jer 51,63)5Da ging ich hin und verbarg ihn am Euphrat, wie der HERR mir geboten hatte.6Und es geschah am Ende von vielen Tagen, da sprach der HERR zu mir: Mach dich auf, geh an den Euphrat und hole von dort den Hüftschurz, den dort zu verbergen ich dir geboten habe!7Da ging ich an den Euphrat und grub und nahm den Hüftschurz von der Stelle, wo ich ihn verborgen hatte; und siehe, der Hüftschurz war verdorben, taugte zu gar nichts mehr. – (Jer 24,8)8Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir:9So spricht der HERR: So werde ich den Hochmut Judas und den großen Hochmut Jerusalems verderben. (Jes 2,12; Jer 25,18)10Dieses böse Volk, das sich weigert, meine Worte zu hören, das da lebt in der Verstocktheit seines Herzens und anderen Göttern nachläuft, um ihnen zu dienen und sich vor ihnen niederzuwerfen: es soll werden wie dieser Hüftschurz, der zu gar nichts taugt. (Jer 7,13; Jer 7,24; Jer 9,13; Jer 16,12)11Denn ebenso wie der Hüftschurz sich an die Hüften eines Mannes anschließt, so hatte ich das ganze Haus Israel und das ganze Haus Juda an mich angeschlossen[1], spricht der HERR[2], damit sie mir zum Volk und zum Ruhm[3] und zum Preis und zum Schmuck sind; aber sie haben nicht gehört. (2Mo 19,5; 5Mo 26,18; Jer 19,15; Jer 33,9)12Und ⟨nun⟩ sage dieses Wort zu ihnen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Jeder Krug wird mit Wein gefüllt. Und wenn sie zu dir sagen: Wissen wir nicht sehr wohl, dass jeder Krug mit Wein gefüllt wird? –13dann sage ihnen: So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich werde alle Bewohner dieses Landes und die Könige, die auf dem Thron Davids sitzen[4], und die Priester und die Propheten und alle Bewohner von Jerusalem mit Trunkenheit erfüllen. (Jes 29,9)14Und ich werde sie zerschmettern, einen am anderen, die Väter zusammen mit den Kindern, spricht der HERR[5]. Ich werde kein Mitleid haben noch ⟨sie⟩ schonen[6] noch mich erbarmen, dass ich sie nicht verderbe. (Ps 2,9; Jes 27,11; Jer 15,6; Jer 16,5; Jer 21,7; Jer 25,16; Hes 7,3)15Hört und nehmt zu Ohren, überhebt euch nicht! Denn der HERR hat geredet. (Jes 1,2)16Gebt dem HERRN, eurem Gott, Ehre, bevor er es finster macht und bevor eure Füße sich an Bergen der Dämmerung stoßen und ihr auf Licht wartet und er es in Finsternis verwandelt und zur Dunkelheit macht. (Jos 7,19; Ps 29,2; Jes 59,10; Jer 23,12; Joe 2,2; Am 8,9; Mal 2,2; Joh 12,35; Offb 14,7)17Wenn ihr aber nicht hört, wird meine Seele im Verborgenen weinen wegen ⟨eures⟩ Hochmuts. Und bitter weinen wird mein Auge und von Tränen fließen, weil die Herde des HERRN gefangen weggeführt wird. (Ps 119,136; Jer 8,23; Kla 1,16; Lk 19,41; Phil 3,18)18Sprich zum König und zur Herrin[7]: Setzt euch tief herunter! Denn von euren Häuptern ist herabgesunken[8] die Krone eurer Herrlichkeit. (Jer 22,24)19Die Städte des Südens sind verschlossen, und niemand öffnet[9]. Ganz Juda wird weggeführt, vollständig weggeführt. (1Chr 9,1; Jer 24,1; Jer 28,4; Jer 52,28)20Erhebt eure Augen und seht[10], wie ⟨die Feinde⟩ von Norden kommen! Wo ist die Herde, die dir gegeben war, deine herrlichen Schafe? (Spr 14,28; Jer 6,22)21Was wirst du sagen, wenn er ⟨deine⟩ Liebhaber – du hast sie ja selbst an dich gewöhnt – als Oberhaupt über dich setzen wird? Werden dich nicht Wehen ergreifen wie eine Frau, die gebiert? (2Kön 16,7; Jer 4,31)22Und wenn du in deinem Herzen sagst: Warum ist mir dies zugestoßen? – wegen der Größe deiner Schuld sind deine Säume[11] aufgedeckt und deine Fersen misshandelt worden[12]. (Jer 2,17; Jer 5,19; Jer 16,10; Hos 2,5)23Kann ein Schwarzer[13] seine Haut ändern, ein Leopard seine Flecken? ⟨Dann⟩ könntet auch ihr Gutes tun, die ihr an Bösestun gewöhnt seid. (Pred 1,15; Mt 12,34)24So werde ich sie zerstreuen wie Strohstoppeln, die vor dem Wind der Wüste dahinfahren. (Ps 1,4; Jer 18,17)25Das ist dein Los, dein von mir zugemessenes Teil, spricht der HERR[14], weil du mich vergessen und auf Lüge vertraut hast. (Hi 20,29; Ps 11,6; Jes 28,15; Jer 2,32; Jer 7,8; Jer 18,15; Hes 23,35; Röm 1,25)26Und so hebe auch ich deine Säume[15] hoch[16] über dein Gesicht, dass deine Schande gesehen wird. (Jes 47,3; Kla 1,8; Hes 16,37; Hos 2,12)27Dein Ehebrechen und dein Wiehern, die Schandtat[17] deiner Hurerei auf den Hügeln ⟨und⟩ im Feld: deine Gräuel habe ich gesehen. Wehe dir, Jerusalem! Du wirst nicht rein werden – wie lange wird es noch dauern? (Jer 2,20; Jer 4,14; Jer 5,7; Hes 6,13; Hes 16,23; Hes 24,13; Hos 8,5; Mk 7,21)
1The LORD said to me, ‘Go and buy a linen belt. Put it around your waist. But do not let it get wet.’2So I bought a belt, just as the LORD had told me to do. And I put it around my waist.3Then another message from the LORD came to me. The LORD said,4‘Take off the belt you bought and are wearing around your waist. Go to Perath. Hide the belt there in a crack in the rocks.’5So I went and hid it at Perath. I did just as the LORD had told me to do.6Many days later the LORD said to me, ‘Go to Perath. Get the belt I told you to hide there.’7So I went to Perath. I dug up the belt. I took it from the place where I had hidden it. But it had rotted. It was completely useless.8Then another message from the LORD came to me. The LORD said,9‘In the same way, I will destroy Judah’s pride. And I will destroy the great pride of Jerusalem.10These people are evil. They refuse to listen to what I say. They do what their stubborn hearts want them to do. They chase after other gods. They serve them and worship them. So they will be like this belt. They will be completely useless.11A belt is tied around a person’s waist. In the same way, I tied all the people of Israel to me. I also tied all the people of Judah to me like a belt. I wanted them to be my people. They should have brought me fame and praise and honour. But they have not listened to me,’ announces the LORD.
Wineskins
12‘Tell them, “The LORD is the God of Israel. He says, ‘Every wineskin should be filled with wine.’ ” Here is what the people might say to you. “Don’t we know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?”13If they do, here is what you must tell them. “The LORD says, ‘I am going to fill with wine everyone who lives in this land. I will make the kings who sit on David’s throne drunk. And I will fill with wine the priests, the prophets and everyone who lives in Jerusalem.14I will smash them against one another. I will punish parents and children alike,’ announces the LORD. ‘I will not feel sorry for them. I will not show them any kindness. My tender love for them will not keep me from destroying them.’ ” ’
Judah will be taken away from their land
15People of Judah, listen to me. Pay attention and don’t be proud. The LORD has spoken.16Give glory to the LORD your God. Honour him before he sends darkness to cover the land. Do this before you trip and fall on the darkened hills. You hope that light will come. But he will turn it into thick darkness. He will change it to deep shadows.17If you don’t listen, I will weep in secret. Because you are so proud, I will weep bitterly. Tears will flow from my eyes. The LORD’s flock will be taken away as prisoners.18Speak to the king and his mother. Tell them, ‘Come down from your thrones. Your glorious crowns are about to fall from your heads.’19The gates of the cities in the Negev Desert will be shut tight. There won’t be anyone to open them. Everyone in Judah will be carried away as prisoners. You will be completely taken away.20Jerusalem, look up! Your enemies are coming from the north. Where is the flock you were supposed to take care of? Where are the sheep you were so proud of?21You have worked hard to make special friends. But the LORD will let them rule over you. Then what will you say? Suffering will take hold of you. It will be like the pain of a woman having a baby.22Suppose you ask yourself, ‘Why has this happened to me?’ It’s because you have committed so many sins. That’s the reason your skirt has been torn off. That’s why your body has been treated so badly.23Can people from Ethiopia change their skin? Can leopards change their spots? It’s the same with you. You have always done what is evil. So how can you do what is good?24The LORD says, ‘I will scatter you like straw that the desert wind blows away.25This is what will happen to you. I have appointed it for you,’ announces the LORD. ‘You have forgotten me. You have trusted in other gods.26So I will pull your skirt up over your face. Then people will see the shame of your naked body.27They will see that you have not been faithful to me. You have committed adultery with other gods. And you have acted like a prostitute who does not have any shame. I have seen what you did on the hills and in the fields. And I hate it. How terrible it will be for you, Jerusalem! How long will you choose to be “unclean”?’
