Wir vollstreckten an ihrer ganzen Bevölkerung den Bann: an Männern, Frauen und Kindern.7Aber alles Vieh und die Beute der Städte erbeuteten wir für uns. Siehe, sein Bett[5], ein Bett aus Eisen, ist es nicht in Rabba⟨, der Hauptstadt⟩ der Söhne Ammon? Seine Länge ⟨beträgt⟩ neun Ellen und seine Breite vier Ellen, nach der Elle eines Mannes[6]. Verteilung des Ostjordanlandes
12Dieses Land nahmen wir zu jener Zeit in Besitz. ⟨Das Land⟩ von Aroër an, das am Fluss[7] Arnon ⟨liegt⟩, und die Hälfte des Gebirges Gilead und seine Städte gab ich den Rubenitern und den Gaditern.13Und den Rest von Gilead und das ganze Baschan, das Königreich des Og, gab ich dem halben Stamm Manasse, den ganzen Landstrich Argob. Dieses ganze Baschan wird das Land der Riesen[8] genannt. (5Mo 29,7; 2Kön 10,33)14Jaïr, der Sohn Manasses, nahm den ganzen Landstrich Argob bis zur Grenze der Geschuriter und der Maachatiter und nannte sie⟨, die Ortschaften von⟩ Baschan, nach seinem Namen: Zeltdörfer Jaïrs; ⟨so heißen sie⟩ bis auf diesen Tag. (2Sam 10,6; 2Sam 20,26; 2Sam 23,34)15Und dem Machir gab ich Gilead. (Jos 17,1; 1Chr 2,22)16Und den Rubenitern und den Gaditern gab ich ⟨das Land⟩ von Gilead bis zum Fluss[9] Arnon, und zwar bis zur Mitte des Flusstales als Grenze[10] und bis zum Fluss[11] Jabbok, der Grenze der Söhne Ammon,17und die Ebene[12] mit dem Jordan als Grenze[13], von Kinneret bis zum Meer der Ebene, dem Salzmeer, unterhalb der Abhänge des Pisga nach Osten zu. Gerüstet sollt ihr vor euren Brüdern, den Söhnen Israel, hinüberziehen, alle Kriegstüchtigen. (1Mo 15,7; 4Mo 33,53; 5Mo 5,31; 5Mo 6,1; 5Mo 9,6; 5Mo 12,1; 5Mo 15,4; 5Mo 19,2; 5Mo 21,1; 5Mo 25,19; Jos 1,11)19Nur eure Frauen und eure Kinder und euer Vieh – ich weiß, dass ihr viel Vieh habt – sollen in euren Städten bleiben, die ich euch gegeben habe, (4Mo 32,16)20bis der HERR euren Brüdern Ruhe verschafft wie euch und auch sie das Land in Besitz nehmen, das der HERR, euer Gott, ihnen jenseits des Jordan gibt. Dann sollt ihr zurückkehren, jeder zu seinem Besitz, den ich euch gegeben habe. (4Mo 32,18; Jos 22,2)21Und dem Josua gebot ich zu jener Zeit und sprach: Deine Augen haben alles gesehen, was der HERR, euer Gott, diesen beiden Königen getan hat. So wird der HERR allen Königreichen tun, zu denen du hinüberziehst. (4Mo 27,18; 5Mo 7,19)22Fürchtet sie nicht! Denn der HERR, euer Gott, er ist es, der für euch kämpft. (5Mo 1,30; Jos 23,10; 2Chr 20,17)
Mose darf nicht nach Kanaan kommen
23Und ich flehte zu jener Zeit zum HERRN um Erbarmen:24Herr, HERR, du hast begonnen, deinen Knecht deine Größe und deine starke Hand sehen zu lassen. Denn wo im Himmel und auf Erden ist ein Gott, der ⟨so etwas⟩ wie deine Werke und wie deine Machttaten tun könnte? (2Mo 15,11; 4Mo 23,23; 5Mo 11,2; 2Sam 7,22; Ps 71,19; Ps 86,8)25Ich möchte doch ⟨auch⟩ hinüberziehen und das gute Land sehen, das jenseits des Jordan ⟨liegt⟩, dieses gute Bergland und den Libanon. (Hes 20,6)26Aber der HERR war euretwegen über mich erzürnt und hörte nicht auf mich. Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Lass es genug sein! Rede mir nicht mehr weiter von dieser Sache! (5Mo 1,37; 2Kor 12,8)27Steige auf den Gipfel des Pisga und erhebe deine Augen nach Westen und nach Norden, nach Süden und nach Osten und sieh mit deinen Augen! Denn du wirst nicht über diesen Jordan gehen. (4Mo 27,12; 5Mo 1,37; 5Mo 34,1)28Und beauftrage Josua, stärke ihn und festige ihn! Denn er soll vor diesem Volk hinüberziehen, und er soll ihnen das Land, das du sehen wirst, als Erbe austeilen. – (5Mo 1,37; Jos 1,2)29Und wir blieben im Tal, Bet-Peor gegenüber. (5Mo 4,46; 5Mo 34,6)
1Next, we turned and went up along the road towards Bashan. Og marched out with his whole army. They fought against us at Edrei. Og was the king of Bashan.2The LORD said to me, ‘Do not be afraid of Og. I have handed him over to you. I have also handed over his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon. Sihon was the Amorite king who ruled in Heshbon.’3So the LORD our God also handed Og, the king of Bashan, and his whole army over to us. We struck them down. We didn’t leave any of them alive.4At that time we took all his cities. There were 60 of them. We took the whole area of Argob. That was Og’s kingdom in Bashan.5All those cities had high walls around them. The city gates were made secure with heavy metal bars. There were also large numbers of villages that didn’t have walls.6We completely destroyed them. We did to them just as we had done to Sihon, the king of Heshbon. We destroyed all their cities. We destroyed the men, women and children.7But we kept for ourselves the livestock and everything else we took from their cities.8So at that time we took the territory east of the River Jordan. We captured it from those two Amorite kings. The territory goes all the way from the River Arnon valley to Mount Hermon.9Hermon is called Sirion by the people of Sidon. The Amorites call it Senir.10We captured all the towns on the high plains. We took the whole land of Gilead. And we captured the whole land of Bashan as far away as Salekah and Edrei. Those were towns that belonged to Og’s kingdom in Bashan.11Og, the king of Bashan, was the only Rephaite left. His bed was decorated with iron. It was more than 4.5 metres long and 2 metres wide. It is still in the Ammonite city of Rabbah.
Moses divides up the land
12I divided up the land we took over at that time. I gave the tribes of Reuben and Gad the territory north of Aroer by the River Arnon valley. It includes half of the hill country of Gilead together with its towns.13I gave the rest of Gilead to half of the tribe of Manasseh. I also gave them the whole land of Bashan, the kingdom of Og. The whole area of Argob in Bashan used to be known as a land of the Rephaites.14Jair took the whole area of Argob. He was from the family line of Manasseh. Argob goes all the way to the border of the people of Geshur and Maakah. It was named after Jair. So Bashan is called Havvoth Jair to this very day.15I gave Gilead to Makir.16But I gave to the tribes of Reuben and Gad the territory that reaches from Gilead down to the River Arnon valley. It goes all the way to the River Jabbok. The Jabbok is the northern border of Ammon. The middle of the River Arnon valley is its southern border.17The western border of Reuben and Gad is the River Jordan in the Arabah Valley. It reaches from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea. It runs below the slopes of Pisgah.18Here is the command I gave at that time to the tribes of Reuben and Gad and half of the tribe of Manasseh. I said, ‘The LORD your God has given you this land as your very own. But all your strong men must be prepared for battle. They must cross over ahead of the rest of the Israelites.19But your wives and children can stay in the towns I’ve given you. You can keep your livestock there too. I know you have a lot of livestock.20The LORD has given you peace and rest. Then let your families and livestock stay in those towns until the LORD gives peace and rest to the other tribes. And let your families stay until the other tribes have taken over the land the LORD your God is giving them. That land is across the River Jordan. After that, each of you may go back to the land I’ve given you as your very own.’
The Lord will not allow Moses to cross the River Jordan
21At that time I gave Joshua a command. I said, ‘Your own eyes have seen everything the LORD your God has done to Sihon and Og. He will do the same thing to all the kingdoms in the land where you are going.22Don’t be afraid of them. The LORD your God himself will fight for you.’23At that time I made my appeal to the LORD. I said,24‘LORD and King, you have begun to show me how great you are. You have shown me how strong your hand is. You do great works and mighty acts. There isn’t any god in heaven or on earth who can do what you do.25Let me go across the River Jordan. Let me see the good land beyond it. I want to see that fine hill country and Lebanon.’26But the LORD was angry with me because of what you did. He wouldn’t listen to me. ‘That is enough!’ the LORD said. ‘Do not speak to me any more about this matter.27Go up to the highest slopes of Pisgah. Look west and north and south and east. Look at the land with your own eyes. But you are not going to go across this River Jordan.28So appoint Joshua as the new leader. Help him to be brave. Give him hope and strength. He will take these people across the Jordan. You will see the land. But he will lead them into it to take it as their own.’29So we stayed in the valley near Beth Peor.
