Verordnungen über das Passah, das Fest der Wochen und das Fest der Laubhütten
1Beachte den Monat Abib[1] und feiere Passah dem HERRN, deinem Gott! Denn im Monat Abib hat der HERR, dein Gott, dich nachts aus Ägypten herausgeführt. (2Mo 12,11; 2Mo 12,51; 2Mo 13,4; 2Mo 23,14; 3Mo 23,5)2Und du sollst für den HERRN, deinen Gott, das Passah schlachten, Schafe und Rinder, an der Stätte, die der HERR erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen. (4Mo 28,19; 5Mo 12,5; Joh 2,13)3Du sollst kein Gesäuertes dazu essen. Sieben Tage sollst du ungesäuerte Brote dazu essen, Brot des Elends – denn in Hast bist du aus dem Land Ägypten ausgezogen –, damit du an den Tag deines Auszugs aus dem Land Ägypten denkst alle Tage deines Lebens. (2Mo 12,8; 2Mo 13,3; Jos 4,7)4Und sieben Tage ⟨lang⟩ soll kein Sauerteig bei dir gesehen werden in deinem ganzen Gebiet. Und von dem Fleisch, das du am ersten Tag abends schlachtest, soll nichts über Nacht bleiben bis zum Morgen. – (2Mo 12,10; 2Mo 13,7)5Du kannst das Passah nicht in einem deiner Tore schlachten, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt.6Sondern an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird; um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen, sollst du das Passah schlachten am Abend, beim Untergang der Sonne, zur Zeit deines Auszugs aus Ägypten. (2Mo 12,6; 5Mo 12,5; Joh 2,13)7Und du sollst es braten[2] und essen an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird. Und am ⟨nächsten⟩ Morgen sollst du dich wenden und zu deinen Zelten gehen. (2Mo 12,9; 5Mo 12,5; Joh 2,13)8Sechs Tage sollst du ungesäuerte Brote essen. Am siebten Tag aber ist eine Festversammlung für den HERRN, deinen Gott; du sollst keine Arbeit tun.9Sieben Wochen sollst du dir abzählen: Von da an, wo man beginnt, die Sichel an die Saat ⟨zu legen⟩, sollst du anfangen, sieben Wochen zu zählen. (3Mo 23,15)10Dann sollst du das Fest der Wochen für den HERRN, deinen Gott, feiern, je nach der freiwilligen Gabe deiner Hand, die du geben wirst, so wie der HERR, dein Gott, dich segnen wird. (3Mo 23,15; 4Mo 28,26; 1Chr 29,14; 2Kor 8,12)11Und du sollst dich vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, freuen, du und dein Sohn und deine Tochter und dein Sklave und deine Sklavin und der Levit, der in deinen Toren ⟨wohnt⟩, und der Fremde und die Waise und die Witwe, die in deiner Mitte ⟨wohnen⟩, an der Stätte, die der HERR, dein Gott, erwählen wird, um seinen Namen dort wohnen zu lassen. (5Mo 12,5; 5Mo 12,12; 5Mo 14,29; Joe 1,16; Joh 2,13)12Und du sollst daran denken, dass du Sklave in Ägypten warst, und sollst diese Ordnungen bewahren und tun. (5Mo 5,15)13Das Fest der Laubhütten sollst du sieben Tage ⟨lang⟩ feiern, wenn du ⟨den Ertrag⟩ von deiner Tenne und von deiner Kelterkufe einsammelst. (3Mo 23,34)14Und du sollst dich an deinem Fest freuen, du und dein Sohn und deine Tochter und dein Sklave und deine Sklavin und der Levit und der Fremde und die Waise und die Witwe, die in deinen Toren ⟨wohnen⟩. (5Mo 12,12; 5Mo 14,29; Joe 1,16)15Sieben Tage sollst du für den HERRN, deinen Gott, das Fest feiern an der Stätte, die der HERR erwählen wird. Denn der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich segnen in all deinem Ertrag und in allem Tun deiner Hände, und du sollst wirklich fröhlich sein. (5Mo 12,5; Neh 8,17; Est 9,22; Joh 2,13; Joh 4,45)16Dreimal im Jahr soll alles bei dir, was männlich ist, vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, erscheinen an der Stätte, die er erwählen wird: am Fest der ungesäuerten Brote und am Fest der Wochen und am Fest der Laubhütten. Und man soll nicht mit leeren Händen vor dem HERRN erscheinen: (Esr 3,1; Ps 84,8; Ps 122,4; Jes 33,20; Hes 36,38)17jeder nach dem, was seine Hand geben kann[3], nach dem Segen des HERRN, deines Gottes, den er dir gegeben hat. (1Chr 29,14; 2Kor 8,12)
Anweisungen zur Rechtsprechung im Tor
18Richter und Aufseher[4] sollst du dir einsetzen in allen deinen Toren, die der HERR, dein Gott, dir nach deinen Stämmen gibt, damit sie das Volk richten mit gerechtem Gericht. (5Mo 1,15; 5Mo 17,9; 5Mo 19,17; 1Sam 8,1; 1Chr 23,4; 2Chr 19,5)19Du sollst das Recht nicht beugen, du sollst die Person nicht ansehen und kein Bestechungsgeschenk nehmen. Denn das Bestechungsgeschenk macht die Augen der Weisen blind und verdreht die Sache[5] der Gerechten. (2Mo 23,8; 5Mo 1,17; 5Mo 27,25; 1Sam 12,3; Hes 18,8)20Der Gerechtigkeit ⟨und nur⟩ der Gerechtigkeit sollst du nachjagen, damit du lebst und das Land in Besitz nimmst, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt. (Spr 11,19)
Verbot von kanaanäischen Kultsymbolen, unvollständigen Opfertieren und Gestirnskulten
21Du sollst dir keine Aschera pflanzen, irgendein Holz[6] neben dem Altar des HERRN, deines Gottes, den du dir machen wirst. (2Kön 21,7)22Und du sollst dir keine Gedenksteine[7] aufrichten, die der HERR, dein Gott, hasst. (2Mo 20,4; 2Mo 34,13; 5Mo 4,16; 2Kön 17,10)
1Celebrate the Passover Feast of the LORD your God in the month of Aviv. In that month he brought you out of Egypt at night.2Sacrifice an animal from your flock or herd. It is the Passover sacrifice to honour the LORD your God. Sacrifice it at the special place the LORD will choose. He will put his Name there.3Don’t eat the animal along with bread made with yeast. Instead, for seven days eat bread made without yeast. It’s the bread that reminds you of how much you suffered. Remember that you left Egypt in a hurry. Remember it all the days of your life. Don’t forget the day you left Egypt.4Don’t keep any yeast anywhere in your land for seven days. You will sacrifice the Passover animal on the evening of the first day. Do not let any of its meat be left over until the next morning.5You must not sacrifice the Passover animal in just any town the LORD your God is giving you.6Sacrifice it only in the special place he will choose for his Name. Sacrifice it there in the evening when the sun goes down. Do it on the same day every year. Be sure it’s the day you left Egypt.7Cook the animal and eat it. Do it at the place the LORD your God will choose. Then in the morning return to your tents.8For six days eat bread made without yeast. On the seventh day come together for a service to honour the LORD your God. Don’t do any work on that day.
The Feast of Weeks
9Count seven weeks from the time you begin to cut your corn in the field.10Then celebrate the Feast of Weeks to honour the LORD your God. Give to the LORD anything you choose to give as an offering. Give, just as the LORD has given to you.11Be filled with joy in the sight of the LORD your God. Be joyful at the special place he will choose for his Name. You, your children, and your male and female servants should be joyful. So should the Levites living in your towns. So should the outsiders and widows living among you. And so should the children whose fathers have died.12Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. Be careful to obey the rules I’m giving you.
The Feast of Booths
13Gather the corn from your threshing-floors. Take the fresh wine from your winepresses. Then celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days.14Be filled with joy at your feast. You, your children, and your male and female servants should be joyful. So should the Levites, the outsiders, and the widows living in your towns. And so should the children whose fathers have died.15For seven days celebrate the feast to honour the LORD your God. Do it at the place he will choose. The LORD will bless you when you gather all your crops. He’ll bless you in everything you do. And you will be full of joy.16All your men must appear in front of the LORD your God at the holy tent. They must go to the place he will choose. They must do it three times a year. They must go there to celebrate the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. None of your men should appear in front of the LORD without bringing something with him.17Each of you must bring a gift. Give to the LORD your God, just as he has given to you.
Appoint judges and officials
18Appoint judges and officials for each of your tribes. Do it in every town the LORD your God is giving you. They must judge the people fairly.19Do what is right. Treat everyone the same. Don’t take money from people who want special favours. It makes those who are wise close their eyes to the truth. It twists the words of those who have done nothing wrong.20Do only what is right. Then you will live. You will take over the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Don’t worship other gods
21Don’t set up a wooden pole used to worship the female god named Asherah. Don’t set it up beside the altar you build to worship the LORD your God.22Don’t set up a sacred stone to honour another god. The LORD your God hates Asherah poles and sacred stones.
