1Am Ende von sieben Jahren sollst du einen Schulderlass halten. (5Mo 31,10; Jer 34,14)2Das aber ist die Sache mit dem Schulderlass: Jeder Gläubiger[1] soll das Darlehen seiner Hand, das er seinem Nächsten geliehen hat, erlassen. Er soll seinen Nächsten und seinen Bruder nicht drängen; denn man hat für den HERRN einen Schulderlass ausgerufen. (Neh 5,10)3Den Ausländer magst du drängen. Was du aber bei deinem Bruder hast, soll deine Hand erlassen, (5Mo 23,21)4damit nur ja kein Armer unter dir ist. Denn der HERR wird dich reichlich segnen in dem Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir als Erbteil gibt, es in Besitz zu nehmen, (5Mo 3,18; 5Mo 4,21; Jes 58,10)5wenn du nur der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, genau gehorchst, darauf zu achten, dieses ganze Gebot zu tun, das ich dir heute befehle. (5Mo 6,2; 5Mo 26,14)6Denn der HERR, dein Gott, hat dich gesegnet, wie er zu dir geredet hat. Und du wirst vielen Nationen ausleihen, du aber wirst dir nichts leihen. Und du wirst über viele Nationen herrschen, über dich aber werden sie nicht herrschen. (5Mo 28,12; 1Chr 17,27)7Wenn es einen Armen bei dir geben wird, irgendeinen deiner Brüder in einem deiner Tore in deinem Land, das der HERR, dein Gott, dir gibt, dann sollst du dein Herz nicht verhärten und deine Hand vor deinem Bruder, dem Armen, nicht verschließen. (3Mo 25,35; Est 9,22; Lk 6,30; 1Joh 3,17)8Sondern du sollst ihm deine Hand weit öffnen und ihm willig ausleihen, was für den Mangel ausreicht, den er hat. (3Mo 25,35; Mt 5,42)9Nimm dich in Acht, dass in deinem Herzen nicht der boshafte Gedanke entsteht: Das siebte Jahr, das Erlassjahr, ist nahe! – und dass dein Auge ⟨dann⟩ böse auf deinen Bruder, den Armen, ⟨sieht⟩ und du ihm nichts gibst. Er aber würde über dich zum HERRN schreien, und Sünde wäre an dir! (2Mo 22,22; 5Mo 24,15; 5Mo 31,10; Spr 14,21; Jer 34,14)10Willig sollst du ihm geben, und dein Herz soll nicht böse sein, wenn du ihm gibst. Denn wegen dieser Sache wird der HERR, dein Gott, dich segnen in all deinem Tun und in allem Geschäft deiner Hand. (5Mo 14,29; 5Mo 15,18; Spr 11,24; 2Kor 8,2; 2Kor 9,7)11Denn der Arme wird nicht aus dem Land verschwinden[2]. Darum befehle ich dir: Deinem Bruder, deinem Elenden und deinem Armen in deinem Land sollst du deine Hand weit öffnen. (2Mo 23,11; Spr 19,17; Mt 26,11; 1Tim 6,18; Jak 2,15)
Freilassung gekaufter Sklaven
12Wenn dein Bruder, ein Hebräer oder eine Hebräerin, sich dir verkauft[3], dann soll er dir sechs Jahre dienen, und im siebten Jahr sollst du ihn von dir als Freien entlassen. (2Mo 21,1; 3Mo 25,40)13Und wenn du ihn als Freien von dir entlässt, sollst du ihn nicht mit leeren Händen entlassen;14du sollst ihm reichlich aufladen von deinen Schafen, von deiner Tenne und von deiner Kelterkufe⟨. Von allem⟩, womit der HERR, dein Gott, dich gesegnet hat, sollst du ihm geben. (Ps 112,9)15Und du sollst daran denken, dass ⟨auch⟩ du im Land Ägypten Sklave warst und dass der HERR, dein Gott, dich erlöst hat; darum befehle ich dir heute diese Sache. (5Mo 5,15)16Und es soll geschehen, wenn er zu dir sagt: Ich will nicht von dir weggehen – weil er dich und dein Haus liebt, weil es ihm bei dir gut geht[4] –,17dann sollst du einen Pfriem nehmen und ihn durch sein Ohr in die Tür stechen, und er wird für immer dein Sklave sein; und auch deine Sklavin sollst du so behandeln.18Es soll nicht schwer sein in deinen Augen, wenn du ihn als Freien von dir entlässt. Denn das Doppelte des Lohnes eines Tagelöhners hat er dir sechs Jahre lang erarbeitet. Und der HERR, dein Gott, wird dich segnen in allem, was du tust. (5Mo 15,10)
Heiligung der Erstgeburt vom Vieh
19Alles männliche Erstgeborene, das unter deinen Rindern und unter deinen Schafen geboren wird, sollst du dem HERRN, deinem Gott, heiligen. Du sollst mit dem Erstgeborenen deines Rindes nicht arbeiten, und du sollst das Erstgeborene deiner Schafe nicht scheren; (2Mo 13,2; 4Mo 18,15)20vor dem HERRN, deinem Gott, sollst du es essen, du und dein Haus, Jahr für Jahr, an der Stätte, die der HERR erwählen wird. (5Mo 12,5)21Wenn aber ein Makel an ihm ist, ⟨dass es⟩ lahm oder blind ⟨ist⟩, irgendein schlimmer Makel, darfst du es dem HERRN, deinem Gott, nicht opfern. (3Mo 22,20)22In deinen Toren magst du es essen, der Unreine und der Reine gleichermaßen, wie die Gazelle und wie den Hirsch. (5Mo 12,15)23Nur sein Blut darfst du nicht essen; auf die Erde sollst du es gießen wie Wasser. (5Mo 12,15)
1At the end of every seven years you must forgive people what they owe you.2Have you made a loan to one of your own people? Then forgive what is owed to you. You can’t require that person to pay you back. The LORD’s time to forgive what is owed has been announced.3You can require someone from another nation to pay you back. But you must forgive what any of your own people owes you.4There shouldn’t be any poor people among you. The LORD will greatly bless you in the land he is giving you. You will take it over as your own.5The LORD your God will bless you if you obey him completely. Be careful to follow all the commands I’m giving you today.6The LORD your God will bless you, just as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations. But you won’t have to borrow from any of them. You will rule over many nations. But none of them will rule over you.7Suppose someone is poor among you. And suppose they live in one of the towns in the land the LORD your God is giving you. Then don’t be mean to them. They are poor. So don’t hold back money from them.8Instead, open your hands and lend them what they need. Do it freely.9Be careful not to have an evil thought in your mind. Don’t say to yourself, ‘The seventh year will soon be here. It’s the year for forgiving people what they owe.’ If you think like that, you might treat the needy people among you badly. You might not give them anything. Then they might make their appeal to the LORD against you. And he will find you guilty of sin.10So give freely to needy people. Let your heart be tender towards them. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all your work. He will bless you in everything you do.11There will always be poor people in the land. So I’m commanding you to give freely to those who are poor and needy in your land. Open your hands to them.
Set your Hebrew servants free
12Suppose any Hebrew men or women sell themselves to you. If they do, they will serve you for six years. Then in the seventh year you must let them go free.13But when you set them free, don’t send them away without anything to show for all their work.14Freely give them some animals from your flock. Also give them some of your corn and wine. The LORD your God has blessed you richly. Give to them as he has given to you.15Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. The LORD your God set you free. That’s why I’m giving you this command today.16But suppose your servant says to you, ‘I don’t want to leave you.’ He loves you and your family. And you are taking good care of him.17Then take him to the door of your house. Poke a hole through his earlobe into the doorpost. And he will become your servant for life. Do the same with your female servant.18Don’t think you are being cheated when you set your servants free. After all, they have served you for six years. The service of each of them has been worth twice as much as the service of a hired worker. And the LORD your God will bless you in everything you do.
Male animals born first to their mothers
19Set apart every male animal among your livestock that was born first to its mother. Set it apart to the LORD your God. Don’t put a firstborn cow to work. Don’t clip the wool from a firstborn sheep.20Each year you and your family must eat them. Do it in front of the LORD your God at the place he will choose.21Suppose an animal has something wrong with it. It might not be able to see or walk. Or it might have a bad flaw. Then you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.22You must eat it in your own towns. Those who are ‘clean’ and those who are ‘unclean’ can eat it. Eat it as if it were antelope or deer meat.23But you must not eat meat that still has blood in it. Pour the blood out on the ground like water.
