Salomos Städtebauten, Zwangsarbeiter, Tempeldienst und Schifffahrt

1 Und es geschah am Ende der zwanzig Jahre, in denen Salomo das Haus des HERRN und sein ⟨eigenes⟩ Haus gebaut hatte, (1Kön 6,38; 1Kön 7,1; 1Kön 9,1; 1Kön 9,10)

2 da baute Salomo die Städte aus, die Hiram dem Salomo gegeben hatte; und er ließ die Söhne Israel dort wohnen. 3 Und Salomo zog nach Hamat-Zoba und überwältigte es. (2Sam 8,3; 2Kön 14,28; 2Kön 19,13; 1Chr 18,3)

4 Und er baute Tadmor in der Wüste und alle Vorratsstädte, die er in Hamat baute. (2Chr 17,12) 5 Und er baute das obere Bet-Horon und das untere Bet-Horon, feste Städte mit Mauern, Toren^[1] und Riegeln, (Jos 16,3) 6 und Baalat und alle Vorratsstädte, die Salomo hatte, und alle Wagenstädte und die Pferdestädte und alles, was Salomo sonst noch zu bauen wünschte^[2] in Jerusalem und auf dem Libanon und im ganzen Land seiner Herrschaft. – (2Chr 1,14; 2Chr 17,12; Pred 2,4) 7 Alles Volk, das übrig geblieben war von den Hetitern und den Amoritern und den Perisitern und den Hewitern und den Jebusitern, die nicht von Israel waren, (5Mo 7,1; Esr 9,1) 8 deren Söhne^[3], die nach ihnen im Land übrig geblieben waren, die die Söhne Israel nicht ausgetilgt hatten, die hob Salomo zur Zwangsarbeit aus; ⟨und so ist es⟩ bis auf den heutigen Tag. (1Kön 5,29; 2Chr 2,16) 9 Aber von den Söhnen Israel machte Salomo keine Sklaven für seine Arbeit; sondern sie waren Kriegsleute und Oberste über seine Wagenkämpfer^[4] und Oberste über seine Streitwagen und seine Pferde. 10 Und das sind die Obersten der Vögte^[5], die der König Salomo hatte: 250, die über das Volk herrschten. 11 Und Salomo führte die Tochter des Pharao aus der Stadt Davids herauf in das Haus, das er für sie gebaut hatte. Denn er sagte: Eine Frau soll mir nicht in dem Haus Davids, des Königs von Israel, wohnen; denn die Räume^[6] sind ein Heiligtum, weil die Lade des HERRN gekommen ist. (1Kön 7,8) 12 Damals opferte Salomo dem HERRN Brandopfer auf dem Altar des HERRN, den er vor der Vorhalle gebaut hatte, (2Chr 1,6; 2Chr 4,1) 13 und zwar nach der Bestimmung^[7] für jeden Tag, indem er opferte nach dem Gebot des Mose an den Sabbaten und an den Neumonden und an den Festen dreimal im Jahr: Am Fest der ungesäuerten Brote und am Fest der Wochen und am Fest der Laubhütten. (2Chr 2,3; Hes 45,17) 14 Und er bestellte nach der Vorschrift seines Vaters David die Abteilungen der Priester zu ihrem Dienst und die Leviten zu ihren Ämtern, zum Loben und Dienen vor den Priestern nach der Bestimmung^[8] für jeden Tag, und die Torhüter in ihren Abteilungen für jedes Tor; denn so war das Gebot Davids, des Mannes Gottes. 15 Und man wich nicht von dem Gebot des Königs über die Priester und die Leviten ab, ⟨auch nicht⟩ bei jeder ⟨anderen⟩ Sache und bei den Schätzen. – (1Chr 26,20) 16 Und so wurde das ganze Werk Salomos fertiggestellt, vom Tag der Grundlegung des Hauses des HERRN bis zu seiner Vollendung. Das Haus des HERRN war fertig. (1Kön 6,37) 17 Damals ging Salomo nach Ezjon-Geber und nach Elot^[9], am Ufer des Meeres im Land Edom. (2Chr 20,36) 18 Und Hiram schickte ihm durch seine Knechte Schiffe und seekundige Knechte. Und sie gelangten mit den Knechten Salomos nach Ofir und holten von dort 450 Talente Gold und brachten es zum König Salomo. (2Chr 9,10; 2Chr 9,21)

Other things Solomon did

1 Solomon built the LORD’s temple and his own palace. It took him 20 years to build them. After that, 2 Solomon rebuilt the villages Hiram had given him. Solomon let Israelites make their homes in them. 3 Then Solomon went to Hamath Zobah. He captured it. 4 He also built up Tadmor in the desert. He built up all the cities in Hamath where he could store things. 5 He rebuilt Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon. He put up high walls around them. He made their city gates secure with heavy metal bars. 6 He rebuilt Baalath and all the cities where he could store things. He also rebuilt all the cities for his chariots and horses. Solomon built anything he wanted in Jerusalem, Lebanon and all the territory he ruled. 7 There were still many people left in the land who weren’t Israelites. They included Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 8 They were children of the people who had lived in the land before the Israelites came. The people of Israel hadn’t destroyed them. Solomon forced them to work very hard as his slaves. And they still work for Israel to this day. 9 But Solomon didn’t force the Israelites to work as his slaves. Instead, some were his fighting men. Others were commanders of his captains, chariots and chariot drivers. 10 Still others were King Solomon’s chief officials. There were 250 officials in charge of the other men. 11 Solomon brought Pharaoh’s daughter up from the City of David to the palace he had built for her. Solomon said, ‘My wife must not live in the palace of David, who was the king of Israel. It’s one of the places the ark of the LORD has entered. That makes it holy.’ 12 Solomon had built the LORD’s altar. It stood in front of the temple porch. On that altar Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings to the LORD. 13 Each day he sacrificed what the Law of Moses required. He sacrificed the required offerings every Sabbath day. He also sacrificed them at each New Moon feast and during the three yearly feasts. Those three were the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Booths. 14 Solomon followed the orders his father David had given him. He appointed the groups of priests for their duties. He appointed the Levites to lead the people in praising the LORD. They also helped the priests do their required tasks each day. Solomon appointed the groups of men who guarded all the gates. That’s what David, the man of God, had ordered. 15 The king’s commands were followed completely. They applied to the priests and Levites. They also applied to the temple treasure. 16 All of Solomon’s work was carried out. It started the day the foundation of the LORD’s temple was laid. It ended when the LORD’s temple was finished. 17 Solomon went to Ezion Geber and Elath on the coast of Edom. 18 Hiram sent him ships that his own officers commanded. They were sailors who knew the sea. Together with Solomon’s men they sailed to Ophir. They brought back 16 tonnes of gold. They gave it to King Solomon.
