1Und ich sah einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde; denn der erste Himmel und die erste Erde waren vergangen, und das Meer ist nicht mehr. (Jes 65,17; Jes 66,22; 2Petr 3,13; Offb 20,11)2Und ich sah die heilige Stadt, das neue Jerusalem, aus dem Himmel von Gott herabkommen, bereitet wie eine für ihren Mann geschmückte Braut. (Jes 52,1; Jes 61,10; Offb 3,12; Offb 11,2; Offb 21,10)3Und ich hörte eine laute Stimme vom Thron her sagen: Siehe, das Zelt Gottes bei den Menschen! Und er wird bei ihnen wohnen[1], und sie werden seine Völker[2] sein, und Gott selbst wird bei ihnen sein, ihr Gott. (2Mo 29,45; Hes 37,27; Hes 43,7; Hes 48,35; Offb 7,15)4Und er wird jede Träne von ihren Augen abwischen, und der Tod wird nicht mehr sein, noch Trauer noch Geschrei noch Schmerz wird mehr sein; denn das Erste ist vergangen. (Jes 35,10; Jes 51,11; Jes 65,16; Lk 20,36; Offb 7,17; Offb 20,14)5Und der, welcher auf dem Thron saß, sprach: Siehe, ich mache alles neu. Und er spricht: Schreibe! Denn diese Worte sind gewiss[3] und wahrhaftig. (Jes 43,19; 2Kor 5,17; Offb 4,2; Offb 19,9)6Und er sprach zu mir: Es ist geschehen. Ich bin das Alpha und das Omega[4], der Anfang[5] und das Ende[6]. Ich will dem Dürstenden aus der Quelle des Wassers des Lebens geben umsonst. (Jes 55,1; Joh 4,14; Offb 1,8; Offb 16,17; Offb 22,17)7Wer überwindet, wird dies erben, und ich werde ihm Gott sein, und er wird mir Sohn sein. (2Sam 7,14; Sach 8,8; 2Kor 6,18; Offb 2,7)8Aber den Feigen und Ungläubigen[7] und mit Gräueln Befleckten und Mördern und Unzüchtigen[8] und Zauberern und Götzendienern und allen Lügnern ist ihr Teil in dem See, der mit Feuer und Schwefel brennt; das ist der zweite Tod. Ihr Lichtglanz war gleich einem sehr kostbaren Edelstein, wie ein kristallheller Jaspisstein; (Offb 4,3; Offb 21,23)12und sie hatte eine große und hohe Mauer und hatte zwölf Tore und an den Toren zwölf Engel und Namen darauf geschrieben, welche die Namen der zwölf Stämme der Söhne Israel sind: (2Mo 28,21; Sach 2,9)13nach Osten[9] drei Tore und nach Norden drei Tore und nach Süden drei Tore und nach Westen drei Tore. (Hes 48,31)14Und die Mauer der Stadt hatte zwölf Grundsteine und auf ihnen zwölf Namen der zwölf Apostel des Lammes. (Eph 2,20; Hebr 11,10)15Und der mit mir redete, hatte ein Maß, ein goldenes Rohr, um die Stadt und ihre Tore und ihre Mauer zu messen. (Hes 40,3; Sach 2,5; Offb 11,1)16Und die Stadt ist viereckig angelegt, und ihre Länge ist so groß wie die Breite. Und er maß die Stadt mit dem Rohr auf 12 000 Stadien; ihre Länge und Breite und Höhe sind gleich.17Und er maß ihre Mauer, 144 Ellen, eines Menschen Maß, das ist eines Engels ⟨Maß⟩. (Hes 48,16)18Und der Baustoff[10] ihrer Mauer war Jaspis und die Stadt reines Gold, gleich reinem Glas.19Die Grundsteine der Mauer der Stadt waren mit jeder ⟨Art⟩ Edelstein geschmückt: der erste Grundstein ein Jaspis; der zweite ein Saphir; der dritte ein Chalzedon; der vierte ein Smaragd; (2Mo 28,17; Jes 54,11)20der fünfte ein Sardonyx; der sechste ein Sarder; der siebente ein Chrysolith; der achte ein Beryll; der neunte ein Topas; der zehnte ein Chrysopras; der elfte ein Hyazinth; der zwölfte ein Amethyst.21Und die zwölf Tore waren zwölf Perlen, je eines der Tore war aus einer Perle, und die Straße der Stadt reines Gold, wie durchsichtiges Glas. (Offb 22,2)22Und ich sah keinen Tempel in ihr, denn der Herr, Gott, der Allmächtige, ist ihr Tempel, und das Lamm.23Und die Stadt bedarf nicht der Sonne noch des Mondes, damit sie ihr scheinen; denn die Herrlichkeit Gottes hat sie erleuchtet, und ihre Lampe ist das Lamm. (Ps 84,12; Jes 60,19; Offb 21,11; Offb 22,5)24Und die Nationen werden in[11] ihrem[12] Licht wandeln, und die Könige der Erde bringen ihre Herrlichkeit zu ihr. (Ps 89,16; Jes 60,3)25Und ihre Tore werden bei Tag nicht geschlossen werden, denn Nacht wird dort nicht sein. (Jes 60,11; Offb 22,5)26Und man wird die Herrlichkeit und die Ehre der Nationen zu ihr bringen. (Jes 66,12)27Und alles Unreine[13] wird nicht in sie hineinkommen, noch ⟨derjenige⟩, der Gräuel und Lüge tut, sondern nur die, welche geschrieben sind im Buch des Lebens des Lammes. 1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.9And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,11Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;12And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:13On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.15And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof.16And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.17And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.18And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.19And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;20The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.22And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.24And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.25And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it.27And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
