1 Das Wort, das zu Jeremia geschah über das ganze Volk Juda im vierten Jahr Jojakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, das ist das erste Jahr Nebukadnezars, des Königs von Babel, (2Kön 24,1; Jer 35,1; Jer 36,1; Jer 46,2; Dan 1,1)

2 das der Prophet Jeremia zum ganzen Volk Juda und zu allen Bewohnern von Jerusalem redete: 3 Vom dreizehnten Jahr Josias, des Sohnes Amons, des Königs von Juda, bis auf diesen Tag, jetzt schon 23 Jahre, ist das Wort des HERRN zu mir geschehen. 4 Und der HERR hat all seine Knechte, die Propheten, zu euch gesandt, früh sich aufmachend und sendend. Aber ihr habt nicht gehört und habt eure Ohren nicht geneigt, um zu hören, (2Chr 24,19; Jer 11,7; Jer 19,15; Jer 22,21; Jer 26,5; Jer 29,19; Sach 1,4)

5 wenn er sprach^[2]: Kehrt doch um, jeder von seinem bösen Weg und von der Bosheit eurer Taten, dann sollt ihr in dem Land, das der HERR euch und euren Vätern gegeben hat, wohnen von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit! (2Kön 17,13) 6 Und lauft nicht anderen Göttern nach, um ihnen zu dienen und euch vor ihnen niederzuwerfen! Und reizt mich nicht durch das Tun eurer Hände, dass ich euch nicht Böses antue! 9 siehe, so sende ich hin und hole alle Geschlechter des Nordens, spricht der HERR^[4], und zu meinem Knecht Nebukadnezar, dem König von Babel, und lasse sie über dieses Land kommen und über seine Bewohner und über all diese Nationen ringsum. Und ich vollstrecke an ihnen den Bann und mache sie zum Entsetzen, zum Gezisch^[5] und zu ewigen Trümmerstätten^[6]. 10 Und ich lasse unter ihnen verloren gehen die Stimme der Wonne und die Stimme der Freude, die Stimme des Bräutigams und die Stimme der Braut, das Geräusch der Mühlen und das Licht der Lampe. (Jer 7,34) 11 Und dieses ganze Land wird zur Trümmerstätte, zur Wüste werden; und diese Nationen werden dem König von Babel dienen siebzig Jahre lang. 12 Und es wird geschehen, wenn siebzig Jahre voll sind, suche ich am König von Babel und an diesem Volk ihre Schuld heim, spricht der HERR^[7], und am Land der Chaldäer; und ich mache es zu ewigen Einöden. (Jer 50,13; Jer 51,26; Dan 5,26; Hab 1,17)

13 Und ich lasse über dieses Land alle meine Worte kommen, die ich über es geredet habe: alles, was in diesem Buch geschrieben steht, was Jeremia über alle Nationen geweissagt hat. (Jes 55,11) 14 Denn viele Nationen und große Könige machen auch sie^[8] dienstbar. So vergelte ich ihnen nach ihrem Tun und nach dem Werk ihrer Hände. Der Zornweinbecher

15 Ja, so hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, zu mir gesprochen: Nimm diesen Becher Zornwein aus meiner Hand und gib ihn all den Nationen zu trinken, zu denen ich dich sende, (Ps 75,9; Jes 14,26; Jes 34,2; Jer 46,1; Offb 14,10)

(Am 8,14; Nah 3,11) 28 Und es soll geschehen, wenn sie sich weigern, den Becher aus deiner Hand zu nehmen, um zu trinken, dann sollst du zu ihnen sagen: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ihr müsst trinken. (Jer 27,8; Jer 49,12; Ob 1,16) 29 Denn siehe, bei der Stadt, über der mein Name ausgerufen ist, beginne ich Unheil zu wirken, und ihr, solltet ihr etwa ungestraft bleiben? Ihr werdet nicht ungestraft bleiben; denn ein Schwert rufe ich ⟨herbei⟩ über alle Bewohner der Erde, spricht der HERR^[13] der Heerscharen. (Jer 19,3; Hes 9,6; 1Petr 4,17) 30 Und du, weissage ihnen alle diese Worte und sprich zu ihnen: Der HERR brüllt aus der Höhe und erhebt seine Stimme aus seiner heiligen Wohnung. 31 Ein Getöse dringt bis ans Ende der Erde, denn einen Rechtsstreit hat der HERR mit den Nationen, er hält Gericht mit allem Fleisch; die Gottlosen gibt er dem Schwert preis, spricht der HERR^[14]. (Jes 34,2; Hes 30,3; Joe 4,2) 32 So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Siehe, Unheil geht aus von Nation zu Nation, und ein gewaltiger Sturm macht sich auf^[15] vom äußersten Ende der Erde. (Jer 6,22; Jer 23,19) 33 Und die Erschlagenen des HERRN werden an jenem Tag daliegen von einem Ende der Erde bis zum andern Ende der Erde. Sie werden nicht beklagt, und ⟨ihre Leichen⟩ werden weder eingesammelt noch begraben; zu Dünger auf der Fläche des Erdbodens sollen sie werden. – (Jer 8,2; Hes 29,4) 34 Heult, ihr Hirten, und schreit um Hilfe! Und wälzt euch ⟨in der Asche⟩, ihr Mächtigen der Herde! Denn eure Tage sind erfüllt, ⟨euch⟩ zu schlachten – und ⟨die Tage⟩ eurer Zerstreuung –, und ihr sollt hinfallen wie ein kostbares Gefäß. 35 Und verloren ist ⟨all⟩ die Zuflucht für die Hirten und ⟨jedes⟩ Entrinnen für die Mächtigen der Herde. (Jer 32,4; Jer 37,17) 36 ^[16] Horch! Geschrei^[17] der Hirten und Heulen der Mächtigen der Herde! Denn der HERR verwüstet ihre Weide, (Sach 11,3) 37 und die Weideplätze des Friedens sind zerstört vor der Glut des Zorns des HERRN. 38 Er hat wie ein Junglöwe sein Dickicht verlassen. Denn ihr Land ist zur Wüste geworden vor dem gewalttätigen Schwert^[18] und vor der Glut seines Zornes. (Jer 12,10; Jer 25,11)
