Gottes Besuch bei Abraham

1 Und der HERR erschien ihm bei den Terebinthen von Mamre, als er bei der Hitze des Tages am Eingang des Zeltes saß. (1Mo 12,7; 1Mo 13,18) 2 Und er erhob seine Augen und sah: Und siehe, drei Männer standen vor ihm; sobald er sie sah, lief er ihnen vom Eingang des Zeltes entgegen und verneigte sich zur Erde (1Mo 33,3; 1Mo 42,6; Jos 5,13) 3 und sagte: Herr, wenn ich denn Gunst gefunden habe in deinen Augen, so geh doch nicht an deinem Knecht vorüber! 4 Man hole doch ein wenig Wasser, dann wascht eure Füße, und ruht euch aus^[1] unter dem Baum! (1Mo 24,32; 1Mo 43,24; Ri 19,21) 5 Ich will indessen einen Bissen Brot holen, dass ihr euer Herz stärkt; danach mögt ihr weitergehen; wozu wäret ihr sonst^[2] bei eurem Knecht vorbeigekommen? Und sie sprachen: Tu so, wie du geredet hast! (Ri 19,5) 6 Da eilte Abraham ins Zelt zu Sara und sagte: Nimm schnell drei Maß Mehl, Weizengrieß, knete und mache Kuchen^[3]! 7 Und Abraham lief zu den Rindern und nahm ein Kalb, zart und gut, und gab es dem Knecht; und der beeilte sich, es zuzubereiten. 8 Und er holte Rahm und Milch und das Kalb, das er zubereitet hatte, und setzte es ihnen vor; und er stand vor ihnen^[4] unter dem Baum, und sie aßen. (Hebr 13,1) 9 Und sie sagten zu ihm: Wo ist deine Frau Sara? Und er sagte: Dort im Zelt. 10 Da sprach er: Wahrlich, übers Jahr um diese Zeit komme ich wieder zu dir, siehe, dann hat Sara, deine Frau, einen Sohn. 11 Abraham und Sara aber waren alt, hochbetagt; es erging Sara nicht mehr nach der Frauen Weise. (1Mo 17,17; 1Mo 24,1; Jos 13,1) 12 Und Sara lachte in ihrem Innern und sagte: Nachdem ich alt geworden^[5] bin, sollte ich ⟨noch⟩ Liebeslust haben? Und ⟨auch⟩ mein Herr ist ja alt! 13 Da sprach der HERR zu Abraham: Warum hat Sara denn gelacht und gesagt: Sollte ich wirklich noch gebären, da ich doch alt bin? 14 Sollte für den HERRN eine Sache zu wunderbar sein? Zur bestimmten Zeit komme ich wieder zu dir, übers Jahr um diese Zeit, dann hat Sara einen Sohn. (1Mo 17,16; 1Mo 21,2; Ri 13,3; 2Kön 4,16; Jer 32,17; Sach 8,6; Mt 19,26; Röm 9,9)

15 Doch Sara leugnete und sagte: Ich habe nicht gelacht! Denn sie fürchtete sich. Er aber sprach: Nein, du hast doch gelacht! (Ps 44,22)

Abrahams Bitte für Sodom

16 Und die Männer erhoben sich von dort und blickten auf die Fläche von Sodom hinab; und Abraham ging mit ihnen, sie zu begleiten. 17 Der HERR aber sprach ⟨bei sich⟩: Sollte ich vor Abraham verbergen, was ich tun will? (2Kön 4,27; Ps 25,14; Am 3,7) 18 Abraham soll doch zu einer großen und mächtigen Nation werden, und in ihm sollen gesegnet werden^[6] alle Nationen der Erde! (1Mo 12,3) 19 Denn ich habe ihn erkannt, damit er seinen Söhnen und seinem Haus nach ihm befiehlt, dass sie den Weg des HERRN bewahren, Gerechtigkeit und Recht zu üben^[7], damit der HERR auf Abraham kommen lässt, was er über ihn geredet hat. 20 Und der HERR sprach: Das Klagegeschrei über Sodom und Gomorra, wahrlich, es ist groß, und ihre Sünde, wahrlich, sie ist sehr schwer. (1Mo 13,13; Jes 3,9; Mt 11,23; Jud 1,7)

22 Und die Männer wandten sich von dort und gingen nach Sodom; Abraham aber blieb noch vor dem HERRN stehen^[11]. (1Mo 19,1; 1Mo 19,27) 23 Und Abraham trat hinzu und sagte: Willst du wirklich den Gerechten mit dem Ungerechten^[12] wegraffen? 26 Da sprach der HERR: Wenn ich in Sodom fünfzig Gerechte in der Stadt finde, so will ich ihretwegen^[15] dem ganzen Ort vergeben. (Jes 65,8; Jer 5,1) 27 Und Abraham antwortete und sagte: Siehe doch, ich habe mich erdreistet, zu dem Herrn zu reden, obwohl ich Staub und Asche bin. (2Mo 32,11; Jak 5,16) 28 Vielleicht fehlen an den fünfzig Gerechten ⟨nur⟩ fünf. Willst du wegen der fünf die ganze Stadt vernichten? Da sprach er: Ich will ⟨sie⟩ nicht vernichten, wenn ich dort 45 finde. 29 Und er fuhr fort, weiter zu ihm zu reden, und sagte: Vielleicht werden dort vierzig gefunden. Und er sprach: Ich will es nicht tun wegen^[16] der vierzig. 30 Und er sagte: Der Herr möge doch nicht zürnen, dass ich ⟨noch einmal⟩ rede! Vielleicht werden dort dreißig gefunden. Und er sprach: Ich will es nicht tun, wenn ich dort dreißig finde. (1Mo 44,18; Ri 6,39) 31 Da sagte er: Siehe doch, ich habe mich erdreistet, zu dem Herrn zu reden; vielleicht werden dort zwanzig gefunden. Und er sprach: Ich will nicht vernichten wegen^[17] der zwanzig. 32 Da sagte er: Der Herr möge doch nicht zürnen, ich will nur ⟨noch⟩ dieses Mal reden. Vielleicht werden dort zehn gefunden. Und er sprach: Ich will nicht vernichten wegen^[18] der zehn. (1Mo 44,18; Jak 5,16) 33 Und der HERR ging weg, als er mit Abraham ausgeredet hatte; und Abraham kehrte zurück an seinen Ort. 1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them , he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it , and make cakes upon the hearth. 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. 8 And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat. 9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. 10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also? 13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old? 14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son. 15 Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh. 16 And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way. 17 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. 20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. 22 And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the LORD. 23 And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? 24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? 26 And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. 27 And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes: 28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it . 29 And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty' sake. 30 And he said unto him , Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it , if I find thirty there. 31 And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty' sake. 32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten' sake. 33 And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
