Der Turmbau zu Babel

1 Und die ganze Erde hatte ein und dieselbe Sprache^[1] und ein und dieselben Wörter. 2 Und es geschah, als sie von Osten aufbrachen^[2], da fanden sie eine Ebene im Land Schinar und ließen sich dort nieder. (1Mo 10,10; Dan 1,2; Sach 5,11) 3 Und sie sagten einer zum anderen: Auf, lasst uns Ziegel streichen und hart brennen! Und der Ziegel diente ihnen als Stein, und der Asphalt diente ihnen als Mörtel. (1Mo 14,10) 4 Und sie sprachen: Auf, wir wollen uns eine Stadt und einen Turm bauen, und seine Spitze bis an den Himmel! So wollen wir uns einen Namen machen, damit wir uns nicht über die ganze Fläche der Erde zerstreuen! (Dan 4,27) 5 Und der HERR fuhr herab, um die Stadt und den Turm anzusehen, die die Menschenkinder bauten. (1Mo 18,21) 6 Und der HERR sprach: Siehe, ein Volk sind sie, und eine Sprache haben sie alle, und dies ist ⟨erst⟩ der Anfang ihres Tuns. Jetzt wird ihnen nichts unmöglich sein, was sie zu tun ersinnen. 7 Auf, lasst uns herabfahren und dort ihre Sprache verwirren, dass sie einer des anderen Sprache nicht ⟨mehr⟩ verstehen! (1Mo 1,26) 8 Und der HERR zerstreute sie von dort über die ganze Erde; und sie hörten auf, die Stadt zu bauen. (1Mo 10,5; Ps 33,10; Apg 2,6) 9 Darum gab man ihr den Namen Babel; denn dort verwirrte der HERR die Sprache der ganzen Erde, und von dort zerstreute sie der HERR über die ganze Erde. Stammbaum von Sem bis Abram

10 Das ist die Generationenfolge^[3] Sems: Sem war 100 Jahre alt und zeugte Arpachschad, zwei Jahre nach der Flut. 11 Und Sem lebte, nachdem er Arpachschad gezeugt hatte, 500 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 12 Und Arpachschad lebte 35 Jahre und zeugte Schelach. 13 Und Arpachschad lebte, nachdem er Schelach gezeugt hatte, 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 14 Und Schelach lebte 30 Jahre und zeugte Eber. 15 Und Schelach lebte, nachdem er Eber gezeugt hatte, 403 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 16 Und Eber lebte 34 Jahre und zeugte Peleg. 17 Und Eber lebte, nachdem er Peleg gezeugt hatte, 430 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 18 Und Peleg lebte 30 Jahre und zeugte Regu. 19 Und Peleg lebte, nachdem er Regu gezeugt hatte, 209 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 20 Und Regu lebte 32 Jahre und zeugte Serug. 21 Und Regu lebte, nachdem er Serug gezeugt hatte, 207 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 22 Und Serug lebte 30 Jahre und zeugte Nahor. 23 Und Serug lebte, nachdem er Nahor gezeugt hatte, 200 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 24 Und Nahor lebte 29 Jahre und zeugte Terach. 25 Und Nahor lebte, nachdem er Terach gezeugt hatte, 119 Jahre und zeugte Söhne und Töchter. – 26 Und Terach lebte 70 Jahre und zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran. (Jos 24,2) 27 Und das ist die Generationenfolge^[4] Terachs: Terach zeugte Abram, Nahor und Haran; und Haran zeugte Lot. (1Mo 12,5; 1Mo 14,12; Jos 24,2) 28 Haran aber starb zu Lebzeiten^[5] seines Vaters Terach im Land seiner Verwandtschaft, in Ur⟨, der Stadt⟩ der Chaldäer. (1Mo 15,7) 29 Und Abram und Nahor nahmen sich Frauen; der Name von Abrams Frau war Sarai, und der Name von Nahors Frau war Milka, ⟨die⟩ Tochter Harans, des Vaters der Milka und des Vaters der Jiska. (1Mo 22,20; 1Mo 24,15) 30 Sarai aber war unfruchtbar, sie hatte kein Kind. (1Mo 16,1; 1Mo 25,21; 1Mo 29,31; Ri 13,2; 1Sam 1,5; Lk 1,7)

31 Und Terach nahm seinen Sohn Abram und Lot, den Sohn Harans, seines Sohnes Sohn, und Sarai, seine Schwiegertochter, die Frau seines Sohnes Abram; und sie zogen miteinander^[6] aus Ur⟨, der Stadt⟩ der Chaldäer, um in das Land Kanaan zu gehen; und sie kamen nach Haran und wohnten dort.
