Zu wem wollt ihr fliehen um Hilfe und wo euren Reichtum lassen[4]? (Spr 11,4; Jes 2,20; Jes 5,26; Jes 28,20; Jer 4,30; Am 5,19; Zef 1,18)4Beugt man sich nicht unter Gefangenen, so muss man unter Erschlagenen fallen[5]. – Bei alldem wendet sich sein Zorn nicht ab, und noch ist seine Hand ausgestreckt. Weheruf über Assur und dessen Niederlage
5Wehe, Assur, Rute meines Zorns! Und der Stock meines Zorns – in ihrer Hand ist er[6]. (Jes 7,20; Hab 1,12)6Gegen eine gottlose Nation sende ich ihn, und gegen das Volk meines Grimmes entbiete ich ihn, Raub zu rauben und Beute zu erbeuten und es zertreten zu lassen wie Straßenkot. (2Sam 22,43; 2Kön 18,25; Jes 8,4; Jes 30,9)7Er aber meint es nicht so, und sein Herz denkt nicht so, sondern zu verheeren hat er im Sinn und nicht wenige Nationen auszurotten. (Jes 36,18; Jes 37,19; Mi 4,12)8Denn er sagt: Sind meine Obersten nicht allesamt Könige? (Hos 8,10)9Ist Kalne nicht wie Karkemisch, Hamat nicht wie Arpad, Samaria nicht wie Damaskus? Und ich beseitige die Grenzen der Völker und plündere ihre Schätze und stoße die Bewohner hinab wie ein Starker[10]. Und wie man verlassene Eier zusammenrafft, so habe ich die ganze Erde zusammengerafft: Da war keiner, der mit dem Flügel schlug oder den Schnabel aufriss und piepste. – (2Chr 32,13; Jes 37,25)15Rühmt sich die Axt gegen den, der damit haut? Oder brüstet sich die Säge gegen den, der sie zieht? Als schwänge ein Stock den, der ihn hochhebt[12], als ob ein Stab den hochhöbe, der kein Holz ist! (Jes 37,23)16Darum wird der Herr, der HERR der Heerscharen, Schwindsucht senden unter seine Fetten, und unter seiner Herrlichkeit wird ein Brand auflodern wie ein Feuerbrand. (Jes 9,4; Jes 17,4; Jes 26,11; Jes 30,30; Jes 31,9)17Und das Licht Israels wird zum Feuer werden und sein Heiliger zur Flamme; die wird seine Dornen und seine Disteln in Brand setzen und verzehren an einem Tag. Rettung des Restes Israels und Jerusalems
20An jenem Tag wird es geschehen: Da wird der Rest Israels, und was vom Haus Jakob entkommen ist, sich nicht mehr länger auf den stützen, der es schlägt, sondern es wird sich auf den HERRN, den Heiligen Israels, stützen in Treue. (2Chr 28,16; Jes 1,9; Jes 17,7; Jes 46,3; Jer 3,23)21Ein Rest wird umkehren[13], ein Rest Jakobs, zu dem starken Gott. (Esr 1,4; Jer 50,20)22Denn wenn auch dein Volk, Israel, wie der Sand des Meeres wäre; ⟨nur⟩ ein Rest davon wird umkehren. Vernichtung ist beschlossen, einherflutend ⟨mit⟩ Gerechtigkeit. Le jugement sur l’Assyrie
5Malheur à l’Assyrien, bâton de ma colère! Ce gourdin dans sa main est l’instrument de ma fureur.6Je l’enverrai pour attaquer ╵une nation impie, je vais lui donner la mission ╵de rafler le butin ╵d’un peuple qui déchaîne ma fureur, de le mettre au pillage[1], et de le piétiner ╵comme la boue des rues. (Jes 8,3)7Mais ce n’est pas ainsi ╵que le roi d’Assyrie ╵a vu les choses et qu’il a raisonné. Car il ne songe qu’à détruire et à exterminer ╵des peuples en grand nombre.8Oui, voici ce qu’il dit: « Mes princes ╵ne sont-ils pas autant de rois?9Kalno a bien subi ╵le sort de Karkemish, Hamath celui d’Arpad, Samarie celui de Damas[2].10Si, de ma main, ╵j’ai atteint des royaumes ╵adorant des idoles dont les statues ╵étaient bien plus nombreuses ╵que celles de Jérusalem ╵et que celles de Samarie,11ne traiterai-je pas ╵Jérusalem et ses statues tout comme j’ai traité ╵Samarie avec ses idoles? »12Voici ce qui arrivera, dit le Seigneur: Quand j’aurai achevé toute mon œuvre sur le mont Sion et à Jérusalem, j’interviendrai contre le roi de l’Assyrie à cause de ses pensées orgueilleuses et de son regard arrogant.13Car il a déclaré: « C’est par ma propre force ╵que j’ai fait tout cela, et grâce à mon habileté, ╵car je suis très intelligent. Conversion du faible reste d’Israël
20En ce jour-là, le reste des Israélites et les rescapés de Jacob ne prendront plus appui ╵sur celui qui les frappe[3], alors ils s’appuieront vraiment sur l’Eternel, ╵sur le Saint d’Israël.21Un reste des descendants de Jacob[4] un reste reviendra vers le Dieu fort. (Jes 7,3)22Car même si ton peuple, ╵ô Israël, était aussi nombreux ╵que les grains de sable au bord de la mer, ce n’est qu’un reste ╵qui reviendra; car Dieu a décidé ╵la destruction du peuple: il fera venir la justice ╵comme une inondation[5]. Le joug assyrien sera brisé
24Par conséquent, ╵voici ce que dit l’Eternel, ╵le Seigneur des armées célestes: O toi mon peuple, ╵habitant de Sion, ╵ne crains pas l’Assyrie quand, avec le bâton, ╵il viendra te frapper et lorsqu’il brandira ╵son gourdin contre toi, comme l’Egypte l’a fait autrefois[6]. (2Mo 1,1)25Car, dans un peu, très peu de temps, ma fureur prendra fin et mon courroux ╵se tournera contre eux ╵pour les détruire.26Le Seigneur des armées célestes ╵brandira son fouet ╵pour frapper l’Assyrie comme il frappa Madian ╵près du rocher d’Oreb[7]. Il lèvera encore ╵son bâton sur la mer comme il l’a fait jadis ╵contre les Egyptiens[8]. (2Mo 14,15; Ri 7,23)27En ce jour-là, il ôtera de ton épaule ╵le fardeau qu’il va t’imposer et il enlèvera ╵le joug qu’il aura placé sur ta nuque. Ce joug sera brisé ╵pour laisser place ╵à la prospérité[9].
Invasion contre Juda
28Les voilà qui arrivent, ╵ils marchent contre Ayath[10], ╵ils passent dans Migrôn et ils ont déposé ╵à Mikmas leurs bagages.29Voici, ils ont déjà ╵franchi le défilé, et les voilà qui disent: ╵« Campons pour la nuit à Guéba. » Rama est terrifiée; à Guibea, ╵la ville de Saül, ╵les habitants prennent la fuite.30Pousse des cris, ╵ô Bath-Gallim, fais attention, Laïs! Malheureuse Anatoth,31Madména est en fuite, le peuple de Guébim ╵cherche un refuge.32Oui, aujourd’hui déjà, ╵il fera halte à Nob et menacera de son poing le mont du peuple de Sion, oui, la colline de Jérusalem.33Mais voici: l’Eternel, ╵le Seigneur des armées célestes, abat avec violence ╵toutes ces belles branches. Les plus hauts arbres sont coupés, les plus élevés sont à terre.34Il tranche avec la hache ╵les taillis des forêts et le Liban s’effondre ╵sous les coups du Puissant.
