Die Geschichte der Untreue Israels und Neuanfang nach dem Gericht

1 Und es geschah im siebten Jahr, im fünften ⟨Monat⟩, am Zehnten des Monats, da kamen Männer von den Ältesten Israels, um den HERRN zu befragen; und sie setzten sich vor mir nieder. (Hes 8,1) 

2 Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so: 

3 Menschensohn, rede zu den Ältesten Israels, und sage zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Um mich zu befragen, seid ihr gekommen? So wahr ich lebe, wenn ich mich von euch befragen lasse!, spricht der Herr, HERR. (Jes 58,2; Hes 14,1; Hes 20,31) 

4 Willst du sie ⟨nicht vielmehr⟩ richten? Willst du richten, Menschensohn? Die Gräuel ihrer Väter lass sie erkennen, (Hes 16,2; Hes 22,2; Hes 23,36) 

5 und sage zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: An dem Tag, als ich Israel erwählte, da erhob ich meine Hand der Nachkommenschaft des Hauses Jakob ⟨zum Schwur⟩ und gab mich ihnen im Land Ägypten kund und erhob meine Hand ihnen ⟨zum Schwur⟩ und sprach: Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott! (2Mo 6,8; 2Mo 20,2; 3Mo 18,2; 5Mo 7,6; Hes 34,24) 

6 An jenem Tag erhob ich für sie meine Hand ⟨zum Schwur⟩, dass ich sie aus dem Land Ägypten herausführen würde in ein Land, das ich für sie ausgekundschaftet hatte, das von Milch und Honig überfließt; die Zierde ist es unter allen Ländern. (2Mo 3,8; 5Mo 3,25; Neh 9,9; Jer 3,19; Hes 20,15; Dan 8,9) 

7 Und ich sprach zu ihnen: Werft die Scheusale weg, an denen eure Augen hängen, und macht euch nicht mit den Götzen Ägyptens unrein! Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott. (2Mo 20,2; 3Mo 18,2; Jos 24,14; Hes 34,24) 

8 Aber sie waren widerspenstig gegen mich und wollten nicht auf mich hören; keiner warf die Scheusale weg, an denen seine Augen hingen, und die Götzen Ägyptens verließen sie nicht. Da gedachte ich, meinen Grimm über sie auszugießen, meinen Zorn an ihnen zu vollenden mitten im Land Ägypten. (5Mo 9,24; Ps 78,8; Ps 81,12; Hes 7,8; Hes 20,13; Hes 23,3) 

9 Aber ich handelte ⟨gnädig⟩ um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entweiht werden sollte vor den Augen der Nationen, in deren Mitte sie waren und vor deren Augen ich mich ihnen kundgegeben hatte, ⟨indem ich schwor,⟩ sie aus dem Land Ägypten herauszuführen. (5Mo 9,28; 1Sam 12,22; Hes 20,14; Hes 36,21) 

10 Und ich führte sie aus dem Land Ägypten und brachte sie in die Wüste. 

11 Und ich gab ihnen meine Ordnungen, und meine Rechtsbestimmungen ließ ich sie wissen, durch die der Mensch, wenn er sie tut, lebt. (3Mo 18,5; 5Mo 4,5; 5Mo 30,19; Neh 9,13; Ps 147,19; Spr 6,23; Hes 18,9; Hes 20,21; Hes 33,15; Joh 5,39) 

12 Und auch meine Sabbate gab ich ihnen, dass sie zum ⟨Bundes⟩zeichen sein sollten zwischen mir und ihnen, damit man erkenne, dass ich, der HERR, es bin, der sie heiligt. – (2Mo 31,13; Hes 37,28) 

13 Aber das Haus Israel war widerspenstig gegen mich in der Wüste; sie lebten nicht in meinen Ordnungen und verwarfen meine Rechtsbestimmungen, durch die der Mensch, wenn er sie tut, lebt; und meine Sabbate entweihten sie sehr. Da gedachte ich, meinen Grimm in der Wüste über sie auszugießen, um sie zu vernichten. (4Mo 14,12; 5Mo 9,7; Neh 13,17; Hes 20,16) 

14 Aber ich handelte ⟨gnädig⟩ um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entweiht werden sollte vor den Augen der Nationen, vor deren Augen ich sie herausgeführt hatte. 

15 Doch auch erhob ich ihnen meine Hand in der Wüste ⟨zum Schwur⟩, dass ich sie nicht in das Land bringen würde, das ich ⟨ihnen⟩ gegeben hatte, das von Milch und Honig überfließt – die Zierde ist es unter allen Ländern –, (5Mo 1,34; Ps 106,26; Hes 20,6) 

16 weil sie meine Rechtsbestimmungen verwarfen und in meinen Ordnungen nicht lebten und meine Sabbate entweihten; denn ihr Herz lief ihren Götzen nach. (Am 5,26) 

17 Aber ich war ihretwegen betrübt, sodass ich sie nicht vernichtete, und ich machte mit ihnen kein Ende in der Wüste. (Neh 9,19; Ps 78,38) 

18 Und ich sprach zu ihren Söhnen in der Wüste: Lebt nicht in den Ordnungen eurer Väter, und ihre Rechtsbestimmungen bewahrt nicht, und mit ihren Götzen macht euch nicht unrein! (Hes 18,14; 1Petr 1,18) 

19 Ich bin der HERR, euer Gott: Lebt in meinen Ordnungen, und bewahrt meine Rechtsbestimmungen und tut sie! (3Mo 18,4; 5Mo 5,32; Ps 119,4) 

20 Und heiligt meine Sabbate, sie sollen zum Zeichen sein zwischen mir und euch, damit ihr erkennt, dass ich der HERR, euer Gott bin. – (2Mo 20,8; Hes 22,8) 

21 Aber ⟨auch⟩ die Söhne waren widerspenstig gegen mich; in meinen Ordnungen lebten sie nicht, und meine Rechtsbestimmungen bewahrten sie nicht, sie zu tun, durch die ⟨doch⟩ der Mensch, wenn er sie tut, lebt. Und meine Sabbate entweihten sie. Da gedachte ich, meinen Grimm über sie auszugießen, meinen Zorn an ihnen zu vollenden in der Wüste. (5Mo 31,27; Ps 78,10) 

22 Aber ich wandte meine Hand zurück und handelte ⟨gnädig⟩ um meines Namens willen, damit er nicht entweiht werden sollte vor den Augen der Nationen, vor deren Augen ich sie herausgeführt hatte. 

23 ⟨Doch⟩ auch erhob ich ihnen meine Hand in der Wüste ⟨zum Schwur⟩, dass ich sie unter die Nationen versprengen und sie in die Länder zerstreuen würde, (5Mo 4,27; Ps 106,27; Hes 11,16) 

24 weil sie meine Rechtsbestimmungen nicht taten und meine Ordnungen verwarfen und meine Sabbate entweihten und ihre Augen hinter den Götzen ihrer Väter her waren. (Jer 2,7) 

25 Und auch ich gab ihnen Ordnungen, die nicht gut waren, und Rechtsbestimmungen, durch die sie nicht leben konnten. (Röm 7,9) 

26 Und ich machte sie durch ihre Gaben unrein, indem sie alle Erstgeburt des Mutterleibes durch ⟨das Feuer⟩ gehen ließen; damit ich ihnen Entsetzen einflößte, damit sie erkannten, dass ich der HERR bin. (2Kön 16,3; Hes 16,20) 

27 Darum, Menschensohn, rede zum Haus Israel und sage zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, HERR: ⟨Auch⟩ noch dadurch haben eure Väter mich gelästert, dass sie Untreue gegen mich begingen: (Hes 39,26) 

28 Als ich sie in das Land gebracht, das ihnen zu geben ich meine Hand ⟨zum Schwur⟩ erhoben hatte, wählten sie ⟨sich⟩ jeden hohen Hügel und jeden dicht belaubten Baum aus und opferten dort ihre Schlachtopfer und gaben dort ihre widerwärtigen Opfergaben und brachten dort ihren wohlgefälligen Geruch dar und spendeten ihre Trankopfer. (3Mo 17,5; 2Kön 17,9; 2Kön 17,10; Ps 78,58; Jes 65,7; Jer 32,30; Hes 6,13) 

29 Und ich sprach zu ihnen: Was ist das für eine Höhe, wohin ihr geht? So wurde ihr Name Bama genannt, bis auf diesen Tag. (Hes 16,24) 

30 Darum sage zum Haus Israel: So spricht der Herr, HERR: Wollt ihr euch auf die Weise eurer Väter unrein machen und ihren Scheusalen nachhuren? (2Chr 30,7; Ps 106,39; Jer 7,9) 

31 Ja, indem ihr eure Gaben darbringt und eure Söhne durchs Feuer gehen lasst, macht ihr euch unrein bis heute an all euren Götzen! Da sollte ich mich von euch befragen lassen, Haus Israel? So wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR, wenn ich mich von euch befragen lasse! (Ps 106,37; Jes 57,5; Jer 7,31; Hes 20,3; Hes 23,37) 

32 Und was in eurem Geist aufgestiegen ist, soll niemals geschehen, dass ihr ⟨nämlich⟩ sagt: Wir wollen sein wie die Nationen und wie die Geschlechter der Länder, um im Dienst von Holz und Stein zu stehen. (Ps 33,10; Spr 19,21; Jer 44,17; Hos 4,12) 

33 So wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR, wenn ich nicht mit starker Hand und mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgegossenem Grimm als König über euch herrschen werde! (2Mo 6,6; Jer 21,5) 

34 Und ich werde euch aus den Völkern herausführen und euch aus den Ländern, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, mit starker Hand und mit ausgestrecktem Arm und mit ausgegossenem Grimm sammeln. (Jer 31,8; Jer 32,37; Hes 11,17) 

35 Und ich werde euch in die Wüste der Völker bringen und dort mit euch ins Gericht gehen von Angesicht zu Angesicht; (Jer 31,2; Hos 2,16) 

36 wie ich mit euren Vätern ins Gericht gegangen bin in der Wüste des Landes Ägypten, ebenso werde ich mit euch ins Gericht gehen, spricht der Herr, HERR. (4Mo 14,21) 

37 Und ich werde euch unter dem ⟨Hirten⟩stab hindurchziehen lassen und euch abgezählt hineinbringen. (Hes 34,17) 

38 Und ich werde von euch ausscheiden, die sich empörten und mit mir brachen; ich werde sie aus dem Land ihrer Fremdlingschaft herausführen, aber in das Land Israel sollen sie nicht kommen. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin. (Jer 29,32; Jer 44,14; Hes 13,9; Hes 34,20; Mt 25,33) 

39 Ihr aber, Haus Israel, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Geht ⟨doch⟩ hin, dient ein jeder seinen Götzen! Aber nachher – solltet ihr wirklich nicht auf mich hören? – dann werdet ihr meinen heiligen Namen nicht mehr entweihen mit euren Gaben und mit euren Götzen. (Jos 24,15; Ri 10,14; Am 4,4) 

40 Denn auf meinem heiligen Berg, auf dem hohen Berg Israels, spricht der Herr, HERR, dort wird mir das ganze Haus Israel insgesamt dienen im Land. Dort werde ich sie wohlgefällig annehmen, und dort werde ich eure Hebopfer einfordern und die Erstlinge eurer Geschenke, all eure heiligen Gaben. (Jes 56,7; Jer 31,12; Hes 17,23; Hes 43,27; Mal 3,4) 

41 Beim wohlgefälligen Geruch ⟨eurer Opfer⟩ werde ich euch wohlgefällig annehmen, wenn ich euch aus den Völkern herausführe und euch aus den Ländern sammle, in die ihr zerstreut worden seid, und ich mich an euch als heilig erweise vor den Augen der Nationen. (4Mo 20,13; Hes 11,17; Hes 28,25; Hes 36,23; Hes 38,16; Hes 39,27) 

42 Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich euch in das Land Israel bringe, in das Land, ⟨über⟩ das ich meine Hand ⟨zum Schwur⟩ erhoben habe, es euren Vätern zu geben. 

43 Und ihr werdet dort an eure Wege und all eure Taten denken, mit denen ihr euch unrein gemacht habt; und ihr werdet an euch selbst Ekel empfinden wegen all eurer bösen Taten, die ihr begangen habt. (Hes 6,9; Hes 16,61) 

44 Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich mit euch handle um meines Namens willen ⟨und⟩ nicht nach euren bösen Wegen und nach euren Verderben bringenden Taten, Haus Israel, spricht der Herr, HERR. (Ps 79,9; Hes 15,1; Hes 36,21)

1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month , the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me. 

2 Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying, 

3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you. 

4 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them ? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: 

5 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God; 

6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: 

7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 

8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 

9 But I wrought for my name' sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were , in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt. 

10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. 

11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them. 

12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them. 

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 

14 But I wrought for my name' sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. 

15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them , flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; 

16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 

17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 

18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: 

19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; 

20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God. 

21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 

22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name' sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth. 

23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; 

24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers'idols. 

25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; 

26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD. 

27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. 

28 For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings. 

29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day. 

30 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations? 

31 For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you. 

32 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone. 

33 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 

34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 

35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 

36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. 

37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: 

38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 

39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also , if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. 

40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. 

41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. 

42 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers. 

43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed. 

44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name' sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD. 

45 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 

46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; 

47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein. 

48 And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. 

49 Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?

L’histoire des infidélités d’Israël

1 Le dixième jour du cinquième mois de la septième année, quelques responsables du peuple d’Israël vinrent consulter l’Eternel. Ils s’assirent devant moi. 

2 Alors l’Eternel m’adressa la parole en ces termes: 

3 Fils d’homme, parle aux responsables du peuple d’Israël et dis-leur: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Vous osez venir me consulter? Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, je ne me laisserai pas consulter par vous, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. » 

4 Fils d’homme, porte un jugement sur eux! N’hésite pas à le faire! Dénonce les actions abominables que leurs ancêtres ont commises, 

5 et dis-leur: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Le jour où j’ai choisi Israël, j’ai prêté serment envers les descendants de Jacob. Je me suis révélé à eux en Egypte, et je leur ai prêté serment en disant: Je suis l’Eternel votre Dieu. (2Mo 6,2) 

6 Ce jour-là, je leur ai juré de les faire sortir d’Egypte pour les amener dans un pays que j’avais recherché pour eux, un pays ruisselant de lait et de miel, le plus beau de tous les pays. 

7 Je leur ai dit alors: Que chacun de vous rejette les idoles abominables qu’il a sous les yeux. Ne vous rendez pas impurs avec les idoles de l’Egypte. Je suis l’Eternel votre Dieu. 

8 Mais ils se sont révoltés contre moi et n’ont pas voulu m’écouter. Aucun d’eux n’a rejeté les idoles abominables qu’il avait sous les yeux; ils n’ont pas abandonné les idoles de l’Egypte. Je me proposai alors de répandre ma fureur sur eux et d’assouvir ma colère contre eux en Egypte. 

9 Mais j’ai agi par égard pour ma renommée, pour que je ne sois pas méprisé par les peuples parmi lesquels ils habitaient, car je m’étais fait connaître à eux sous les yeux de ces peuples dans le but de les faire sortir d’Egypte. 

10 Je les ai donc fait sortir d’Egypte et je les ai conduits au désert. 

11 Je leur ai donné mes lois et je leur ai fait connaître mes commandements qui font obtenir la vie à celui qui les applique. 

12 Je leur ai aussi fait don de mes jours de sabbat pour qu’ils servent de signe entre moi et eux, pour qu’ils sachent que moi, l’Eternel, je fais d’eux un peuple saint. 

13 Mais la communauté d’Israël s’est révoltée contre moi dans le désert, ils n’ont pas vécu selon mes lois et ils ont rejeté mes commandements qui font obtenir la vie à celui qui les applique. Ils ont constamment profané mes jours de sabbat. Je me suis proposé alors de déchaîner ma colère contre eux dans le désert pour les exterminer. (4Mo 11,1) 

14 Mais j’ai agi par égard pour ma renommée, pour que je ne sois pas méprisé par les peuples sous les yeux desquels je les avais fait sortir d’Egypte. 

15 Je leur ai pourtant juré dans le désert de ne pas les faire entrer dans le pays que je leur avais destiné, ce pays ruisselant de lait et de miel, le plus beau de tous les pays. 

16 J’en ai fait le serment parce qu’ils avaient méprisé mes commandements, qu’ils n’avaient pas obéi à mes lois et qu’ils avaient profané mes jours de sabbat, car leur cœur restait attaché à leurs idoles. 

17 Mais, en les voyant, j’ai eu trop pitié d’eux pour les détruire, aussi je ne les ai pas exterminés dans le désert. 

La révolte des fils

18 Cependant, j’ai dit à leurs enfants dans le désert: Ne suivez pas les principes de vos pères, n’appliquez pas leurs règles et ne vous rendez pas impurs avec leurs idoles. 

19 Je suis l’Eternel votre Dieu. Vivez selon mes lois, obéissez à mes commandements et appliquez-les. 

20 Faites de mes jours de sabbat des jours saints pour qu’ils servent de signe entre moi et vous, afin que vous reconnaissiez que moi, l’Eternel, je suis votre Dieu. 

21 Mais les fils aussi se sont révoltés contre moi. Ils n’ont pas vécu selon mes lois; ils n’ont pas observé ni appliqué mes commandements qui font obtenir la vie à ceux qui les appliquent. Ils ont profané mes jours de sabbat. J’ai parlé alors de répandre ma fureur sur eux et d’assouvir ma colère contre eux dans le désert. 

22 Cependant, j’ai retenu ma main et j’ai agi par égard pour ma renommée, pour que je ne sois pas méprisé par les peuples, sous les yeux desquels je les avais fait sortir d’Egypte. 

23 Pourtant, encore une fois, je leur jurai dans le désert de les disperser parmi des peuples étrangers et de les disséminer en divers pays étrangers, 

24 parce qu’ils n’avaient pas appliqué mes commandements, qu’ils avaient méprisé mes lois, profané mes jours de sabbat et que leurs regards restaient tournés vers les idoles de leurs pères. 

25 C’est pourquoi je leur ai donné des lois qui leur étaient funestes et des commandements qui ne pouvaient les faire vivre. (5Mo 29,18; 5Mo 30,15; Röm 3,20; Röm 7,10) 

26 Je les ai rendus impurs par leurs offrandes quand ils sacrifiaient tous leurs premiers-nés, pour les frapper de stupeur afin qu’ils reconnaissent que je suis l’Eternel. » (Hes 16,20) 

Les infidélités dans le pays promis

27 C’est pourquoi, fils d’homme, parle à la communauté d’Israël, et dis-leur: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Vos ancêtres m’ont outragé par leurs rébellions contre moi. 

28 Je les ai fait entrer dans le pays que j’avais juré de leur donner. Or, partout où ils ont vu une colline élevée ou un arbre vert, ils ont offert leurs sacrifices et ils ont présenté leurs offrandes qui m’irritaient; ils y ont apporté leurs parfums apaisants et y ont répandu leurs libations. 

29 Je leur ai demandé alors: Qu’est-ce que ce haut lieu où vous vous rendez? Et ce nom de “haut lieu” a subsisté jusqu’à ce jour. » 

30 C’est pourquoi, dis à la communauté d’Israël: « Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Ne vous rendez-vous pas impurs en suivant le chemin de vos ancêtres? Ne vous prostituez-vous pas à leurs idoles abominables? 

31 Quand vous présentez vos offrandes, quand vous faites passer vos enfants par le feu pour les offrir en sacrifice, vous continuez encore aujourd’hui à vous rendre impurs avec toutes vos idoles. Et vous croyez que je vais me laisser consulter par vous, gens d’Israël? Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare, je ne me laisserai pas consulter par vous. 

Un nouveau commencement

32 Le rêve qui hante votre esprit ne se réalisera pas. Car vous dites: “Nous voulons être comme les gens des autres nations, comme les peuples des autres pays, nous voulons aussi rendre un culte à des dieux en bois et en pierre.” 

33 Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare, je régnerai sur vous en déployant ma force et ma puissance et en déchaînant ma colère. 

34 J’interviendrai en déployant ma force et ma puissance et en déchaînant ma colère, pour vous faire sortir du milieu des peuples, et je vous rassemblerai des pays étrangers où vous avez été dispersés. 

35 Je vous amènerai au désert à l’écart des autres peuples, et là, je vous jugerai face à face. (Hos 2,16) 

36 Tout comme j’ai jugé vos ancêtres dans le désert d’Egypte, je vous jugerai vous aussi, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. 

37 Je vous ferai passer sous ma houlette, et je vous lierai de nouveau à moi par l’alliance. (Hes 34,11) 

38 J’éliminerai du milieu de vous ceux qui se révoltent et qui se rendent coupables envers moi. Je les ferai sortir des pays étrangers où ils habitent, mais ils n’entreront pas dans le pays d’Israël, et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel. (4Mo 14,26) 

39 Et maintenant, gens d’Israël, voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Que chacun de vous aille adorer ses idoles! Et après cela, on verra bien si vous refusez de m’écouter et si vous continuez à me profaner par vos offrandes et par vos idoles, moi qui suis saint. 

40 Car c’est sur ma montagne sainte, sur la haute montagne d’Israël, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare, que vous, toute la communauté d’Israël, c’est-à-dire tous ceux qui seront dans le pays, me rendront un culte. Là, je vous accepterai, là, j’accueillerai avec plaisir vos offrandes et les prémices de vos dons, et tout ce que vous me consacrerez. 

41 Je vous agréerai comme un parfum apaisant, quand je vous aurai fait sortir du milieu des peuples et que je vous aurai rassemblés des pays étrangers où vous aurez été dispersés; et je manifesterai par mon œuvre en votre faveur ma sainteté aux yeux des autres peuples. (2Kor 6,17) 

42 Vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel quand je vous aurai ramenés au pays d’Israël, que j’ai juré de donner à vos ancêtres. 

43 Là aussi, vous vous souviendrez de votre conduite et de toutes les mauvaises actions par lesquelles vous vous êtes rendus impurs. Vous serez pris de dégoût de vous-mêmes à cause de tout le mal que vous avez commis. 

44 Et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel quand j’agirai ainsi envers vous par égard pour ma renommée, au lieu de vous traiter selon votre mauvaise conduite et vos actes dépravés, gens d’Israël, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. »
