Gleichnis: Jerusalem, die trotz aller Liebesbeweise untreu gewordene Ehefrau

1 Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so: 

2 Menschensohn, lass ⟨die Stadt⟩ Jerusalem ihre Gräuel erkennen (Jes 58,1; Hes 20,4; Hes 22,2) 

3 und sage: So spricht der Herr, HERR, zu Jerusalem: Deine Herkunft und deine Abstammung sind aus dem Land der Kanaaniter; dein Vater war ein Amoriter und deine Mutter eine Hetiterin. (Jes 43,27; Hes 16,45) 

4 Und ⟨was⟩ deine Geburt ⟨betrifft⟩: an dem Tag, als du geboren wurdest, wurde deine Nabelschnur nicht abgeschnitten, und du wurdest nicht mit Wasser abgewaschen zur Reinigung und nicht mit Salz abgerieben und nicht in Windeln gewickelt. (Hos 2,5) 

5 Niemand blickte mitleidig auf dich, um dir eines dieser Dinge aus Mitleid mit dir zu tun, sondern du wurdest auf die Fläche des Feldes geworfen, aus Abscheu vor deinem Leben, an dem Tag, als du geboren wurdest. – 

6 Da ging ich an dir vorüber und sah dich in deinem Blut zappeln; und zu dir in deinem Blut sprach ich: Bleibe leben! Ja, zu dir in deinem Blut sprach ich: Bleibe leben, 

7 und wachse wie das Gewächs des Feldes! Und du wuchsest heran und wurdest groß, und du gelangtest zu höchster Anmut; die Brüste rundeten sich, und dein Haar wuchs reichlich; aber du warst nackt und bloß. (5Mo 1,10) 

8 Und ich ging ⟨wieder⟩ an dir vorüber und sah dich, und siehe, deine Zeit war da, die Zeit der Liebe; und ich breitete meinen ⟨Gewand⟩zipfel über dich aus und bedeckte deine Blöße. Und ich schwor dir und trat in einen Bund mit dir, spricht der Herr, HERR, und du wurdest mein. (2Mo 15,16; 2Mo 24,8; Jes 43,1; Jer 2,2; Jer 31,32; Joh 10,3; Röm 9,4) 

9 Und ich wusch dich mit Wasser und spülte dein Blut von dir ab und salbte dich mit Öl. (Hes 36,25; Eph 5,26; 1Petr 3,20; 1Joh 5,6) 

10 Und ich bekleidete dich mit Buntwirkerei und beschuhte dich mit Delfinhäuten, ich umwand dich mit Byssus und bedeckte dich mit Seide. (Ps 45,15) 

11 Und ich schmückte dich mit Schmuck: ich legte Spangen um deine Handgelenke und eine Kette um deinen Hals, (1Mo 24,22; Lk 15,22) 

12 und ich legte einen Reif an deine Nase und Ringe an deine Ohren und ⟨setzte⟩ eine prachtvolle Krone auf deinen Kopf. (Hl 1,10; Jes 3,19) 

13 So legtest du goldenen und silbernen Schmuck an, und deine Kleidung ⟨bestand aus⟩ Byssus, Seide und Buntwirkerei. Du aßest Weizengrieß und Honig und Öl. Und du warst sehr, sehr schön und warst des Königtums würdig. (5Mo 32,13; Ps 147,14; Kla 2,15) 

14 Und dein Ruf ging aus unter die Nationen wegen deiner Schönheit; denn sie war vollkommen durch meinen Glanz, den ich auf dich gelegt hatte, spricht der Herr, HERR. (Kla 2,15) 

15 Aber du vertrautest auf deine Schönheit, und du hurtest auf deinen Ruf hin und gossest deine Hurereien aus über jeden, der vorbeikam: Ihm wurde sie ⟨zuteil⟩. (Jer 2,20; Hes 23,3; Hos 1,2; Hos 4,18; Hos 9,1) 

16 Und du nahmst von deinen Kleidern und machtest dir bunte Höhen, und du hurtest auf ihnen,⟨Dinge, die⟩ nie vorgekommen sind und was nie ⟨wieder⟩ geschehen wird. (Jer 2,10; Hes 7,20; Hos 2,10) 

17 Und du nahmst deine prächtigen Geschmeide von meinem Gold und von meinem Silber, das ich dir gegeben hatte, und machtest dir Abbilder von Männern und hurtest mit ihnen. 

18 Und du nahmst deine buntgewirkten Kleider und bedecktest sie ⟨damit⟩; und mein Öl und mein Räucherwerk setztest du ihnen vor; (Jer 1,16) 

19 und mein Brot, das ich dir gegeben habe – mit Weizengrieß und Öl und Honig habe ich dich gespeist –, das setztest du ihnen vor zum wohlgefälligen Geruch; ja, so war es, spricht der Herr, HERR. – (Hes 7,20; Hos 2,10) 

20 Und du nahmst deine Söhne und deine Töchter, die du mir geboren, und opfertest sie ihnen zum Fraß. War es zu wenig mit deiner Hurerei, (Ps 106,38; Jes 57,5; Jer 3,24; Jer 19,5; Hes 16,36) 

21 dass du meine Söhne schlachtetest und sie hingabst, indem du sie für sie durch ⟨das Feuer⟩ gehen ließest? (2Chr 28,3; Hes 20,26) 

22 Und bei allen deinen Gräueln und deinen Hurereien dachtest du nicht an die Tage deiner Jugend, als du nackt und bloß warst, zappelnd in deinem Blut lagst. – (Hes 16,43; Hos 11,1) 

23 Und es geschah, nach all deiner Bosheit – wehe, wehe dir!, spricht der Herr, HERR – (Jer 13,27) 

24 bautest du dir einen Hurenaltar und machtest dir ⟨dein⟩ Hochlager auf jedem freien Platz; (1Kön 14,23; 2Chr 21,11; 2Chr 28,25; Hes 20,28) 

25 an jeder Straßenecke bautest du dein Hochlager. Und du machtest deine Schönheit zu einem Gräuel und spreiztest deine Beine für jeden, der vorbeikam, und machtest deine Hurerei groß. 

26 Du hurtest mit den Söhnen Ägyptens, deinen Nachbarn, mit dem großen Fleisch; und du machtest deine Hurerei groß, um mich zu reizen. (1Kön 12,28) 

27 Und siehe, ich streckte meine Hand gegen dich aus und kürzte deinen Anteil⟨, der dir bestimmt war⟩. Und ich gab dich der Gier derer hin, die dich hassen, der Töchter der Philister, die sich vor deinem unzüchtigen Weg schämen. (2Chr 28,18; Ps 106,41; Hes 16,57) 

28 Und du hurtest mit den Söhnen Assurs, weil du ⟨noch⟩ nicht satt warst; und du hurtest mit ihnen und wurdest auch nicht satt. (Jer 2,18) 

29 Und du vermehrtest deine Hurerei zum Händlerland Chaldäa hin; aber selbst davon wurdest du nicht satt. 

30 Wie fieberheiß ist dein Herz, spricht der Herr, HERR, wenn du dies alles tust – das Tun eines selbstherrlichen Hurenweibes –, (Ps 78,37; Jer 3,1; Hos 9,1) 

31 wenn du deinen Hurenaltar an jeder Straßenecke baust und dein Hochlager auf jedem freien Platz machst! Dabei warst du nicht ⟨einmal⟩ wie eine ⟨gewöhnliche⟩ Hure, ⟨denn⟩ du verschmähtest ⟨sogar⟩ den Lohn. 

32 Die ehebrecherische Frau nimmt statt ihres Mannes fremde ⟨Männer⟩! (Spr 7,19; Jer 3,20) 

33 Allen Huren gibt man Geschenke; du aber gabst deine Liebesgeschenke all deinen Liebhabern, und du beschenktest sie, damit sie von ringsumher zu dir kamen wegen deiner Hurereien. (1Mo 38,16; Jes 57,9; Jer 2,24; Hos 8,10) 

34 So geschah bei dir das Gegenteil von ⟨dem, was sonst üblich ist unter⟩ den Frauen, dass du ⟨nämlich⟩ Hurerei triebst, während man dir nicht nachhurte, dass du Lohn gabst, während dir kein Lohn gegeben wurde. So wurdest du das Gegenteil. 

35 Darum, Hure, höre das Wort des HERRN! 

36 So spricht der Herr, HERR: Weil du deine Scham entblößt und deine Blöße aufgedeckt hast bei deinen Hurereien mit deinen Liebhabern und mit all deinen gräulichen Götzen und wegen des Blutes deiner Söhne, die du ihnen hingegeben hast: (Hes 16,20) 

37 Darum, siehe, werde ich alle deine Liebhaber sammeln, denen du gefielst, und alle, die du geliebt, mit allen, die du gehasst hast. Ich sammle sie von allen Seiten gegen dich und decke deine Blöße vor ihnen auf, sodass sie deine ganze Blöße sehen. (Jer 13,26; Offb 17,16) 

38 Und ich richte dich nach den Rechtsbestimmungen für Ehebrecherinnen und Blutvergießerinnen und bringe ⟨meinen⟩ Zorn und Eifer über dich. (4Mo 35,31; 5Mo 22,22; Hes 36,18) 

39 Und ich gebe dich in ihre Hand, und sie werden deinen Hurenaltar zerstören und deine Höhen niederreißen und dir deine Kleider ausziehen und deine prächtigen Geschmeide nehmen und dich nackt und bloß liegen lassen. (3Mo 26,30; Hos 2,5) 

40 Und sie werden eine Versammlung gegen dich heraufkommen lassen und dich steinigen und werden dich mit ihren Schwertern niedermetzeln. (2Chr 36,17; Jer 25,9; Hes 23,25) 

41 Und sie werden deine Häuser mit Feuer verbrennen und Strafgerichte an dir üben vor den Augen vieler Frauen. Und so werde ich dich aufhören lassen, Hure zu sein, und ⟨auch⟩ Lohn wirst du nicht mehr geben. (Hi 34,26; Jer 52,13; Hes 5,8; Mi 5,12; Offb 17,16) 

42 Und ich werde meinen Zorn an dir stillen, und mein Eifer wird sich von dir abwenden; und ich werde ruhig sein und nicht mehr zürnen. – (Hes 5,13) 

43 Weil du nicht an die Tage deiner Jugend gedacht hast und mich durch das alles erregt hast, siehe, so habe auch ich deinen Weg auf deinen Kopf gebracht, spricht der Herr, HERR. Hast du diese Schandtat nicht zu all deinen ⟨anderen⟩ Gräueln hinzu begangen? (Hes 7,3; Hes 9,10; Hes 16,22; Hes 17,19; Dan 9,13) 

44 Siehe, jeder, der einen Spottvers über dich macht, wird diesen Spottvers sagen: Wie die Mutter, so ihre Tochter! 

45 Eine ⟨echte⟩ Tochter deiner Mutter bist du, die ihren Mann und ihre Söhne verabscheut hat; und eine ⟨echte⟩ Schwester deiner Schwestern bist du, die ihre Männer und ihre Kinder verabscheut haben. Eure Mutter war eine Hetiterin und euer Vater ein Amoriter. (Hes 16,3) 

46 Und deine größere Schwester ist Samaria, sie und ihre Töchter, die zu deiner Linken wohnt; und deine Schwester, die kleiner ist als du ⟨und⟩ die zu deiner Rechten wohnt, ist Sodom und ihre Töchter. (5Mo 32,32; Jes 10,11; Hos 14,1; Mi 1,5) 

47 Aber du bist nicht ⟨nur⟩ auf ihren Wegen gegangen und hast ⟨nicht nur⟩ nach ihren Gräueln getan, ⟨sondern⟩ es fehlte nur wenig, und du hättest verdorbener als sie gehandelt auf all deinen Wegen. (Hes 5,6) 

48 So wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, HERR, wenn deine Schwester Sodom, sie und ihre Töchter, ⟨jemals⟩ getan haben, wie du getan hast, du und deine Töchter! 

49 Siehe, das war die Schuld deiner Schwester Sodom: Hochmut, Fülle von Brot und sorglose Ruhe hatte sie mit ihren Töchtern, aber die Hand des Elenden und des Armen stärkte sie nicht; (Jes 47,8; Hes 18,7) 

50 und sie wurden hochmütig und verübten Gräuel vor meinem Angesicht. Und ich tat sie hinweg, sobald ich es sah. 

51 Und Samaria hat nicht halb so viel Sünden begangen wie du; und du hast deine Gräuel zahlreicher werden lassen als sie und hast deine Schwestern als gerecht erscheinen lassen durch all deine Gräuel, die du verübt hast. (Jer 3,11) 

52 So trage auch du deine Schmach, die du für deine Schwestern eingetreten bist durch deine Sünden, die du gräulicher begangen hast als sie! ⟨So⟩ sind sie gerechter als du. Und so schäme auch du dich, und trage deine Schmach, weil du deine Schwestern als gerecht hast erscheinen lassen! (Jer 23,40; Röm 2,1) 

Verheißung der Wiederannahme Jerusalems

53 Und ich wende ihr Geschick, das Geschick Sodoms und ihrer Töchter und das Geschick Samarias und ihrer Töchter, und ich wende dein Geschick in ihrer Mitte: (Jer 46,27) 

54 damit du deine Schmach trägst und dich all dessen schämst, was du getan hast, wodurch du sie tröstest. 

55 Und deine Schwestern, Sodom und ihre Töchter, werden in ihren früheren Zustand zurückkehren, und Samaria und ihre Töchter werden in ihren früheren Zustand zurückkehren, und auch du und deine Töchter, ihr werdet in euren früheren Zustand zurückkehren. 

56 Hat nicht deine Schwester Sodom zu einer ⟨abschreckenden⟩ Kunde in deinem Mund gedient am Tag deines Hochmutes, 

57 bevor deine ⟨eigene⟩ Bosheit aufgedeckt wurde, so wie jetzt das Höhnen der Töchter Edoms – und all derer, die rings um sie her ⟨wohnen⟩, der Töchter der Philister, die dich verachteten – von allen Seiten ⟨über dich ertönt⟩? (2Chr 28,5; Hes 16,27) 

58 Deine Schandtat und deine Gräuel, die musst du ⟨jetzt⟩ tragen, spricht der HERR. (Hes 16,43) 

59 Denn so spricht der Herr, HERR: Ja, ich will dir tun, wie du getan, die du den Eid verachtet, indem du den Bund gebrochen hast. (5Mo 29,24; Jes 3,11; Jes 24,5; Jer 11,10; Hes 7,8) 

60 Ich aber, ich will an meinen Bund denken, ⟨den ich⟩ mit dir in den Tagen deiner Jugend ⟨geschlossen habe⟩, und will dir einen ewigen Bund aufrichten. (Ps 106,45; Jes 14,1; Jes 55,3; Jes 61,8; Hes 37,26; Lk 1,72; Lk 22,20) 

61 Und du wirst an deine Wege denken und dich schämen, wenn du deine Schwestern ⟨zu dir⟩ nimmst, die größer sind als du, samt denen, die kleiner sind als du, und ich sie dir zu Töchtern gebe, aber nicht wegen deines Bundes⟨verhaltens⟩. (Hes 20,43; Hes 36,32; Hes 43,10; Sach 2,15; Röm 6,21) 

62 Und ich selbst werde meinen Bund mit dir aufrichten, und du wirst erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin: (Hos 2,20) 

63 damit du daran denkst und dich schämst und den Mund nicht mehr öffnest wegen deiner Schmach, wenn ich dir alles vergebe, was du getan hast, spricht der Herr, HERR. (5Mo 32,43; Hi 40,4; Ps 85,3; Jes 33,24; Jes 44,22; Röm 3,19)

1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 

2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations, 

3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of Canaan; thy father was an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite. 

4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple thee ; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. 

5 None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born. 

6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live. 

7 I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: thy breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou wast naked and bare. 

8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine. 

9 Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil. 

10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with badgers'skin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and I covered thee with silk. 

11 I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. 

12 And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. 

13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom. 

14 And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD. 

15 But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was. 

16 And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so . 

17 Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them, 

18 And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them. 

19 My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and thus it was, saith the Lord GOD. 

20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Is this of thy whoredoms a small matter, 

21 That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them? 

22 And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast polluted in thy blood. 

23 And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord GOD;) 

24 That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street. 

25 Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms. 

26 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger. 

27 Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food , and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way. 

28 Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied. 

29 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith. 

30 How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these things , the work of an imperious whorish woman; 

31 In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire; 

32 But as a wife that committeth adultery, which taketh strangers instead of her husband! 

33 They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom. 

34 And the contrary is in thee from other women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary. 

35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD: 

36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them; 

37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness. 

38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. 

39 And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare. 

40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. 

41 And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more. 

42 So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. 

43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things ; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations. 

44 Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter. 

45 Thou art thy mother' daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite. 

46 And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. 

47 Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing , thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways. 

48 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. 

49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 

50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good . 

51 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done. 

52 Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters. 

53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them: 

54 That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them. 

55 When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate. 

56 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride, 

57 Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about. 

58 Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD. 

59 For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant. 

60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. 

61 Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant. 

62 And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: 

63 That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

L’histoire des péchés d’Israël

1 L’Eternel m’adressa la parole et me dit: 

2 Fils d’homme, fais connaître à Jérusalem ses crimes abominables. 

3 Dis-lui: « Voici ce que le Seigneur, l’Eternel, déclare à Jérusalem: Par ton origine et ta naissance, tu appartiens à la terre des Cananéens; ton père était un Amoréen et ta mère une Hittite. (1Mo 10,15; Jos 15,63) 

4 Au moment de ta naissance, personne n’a coupé ton cordon ombilical, personne ne t’a baignée dans l’eau pour te laver. Tu ne fus ni frottée avec du sel, ni emmaillotée dans des langes. 

5 Personne n’a jeté sur toi un regard de pitié pour te rendre un seul de ces services et te témoigner de la compassion. Au jour de ta naissance, on t’a prise en dégoût et tu as été jetée au milieu des champs. 

6 J’ai passé près de toi et je t’ai aperçue te débattant dans ton sang. Alors je t’ai dit: Il faut que tu vives, même au milieu de ton sang. [Oui, je t’ai dit: Il faut que tu vives au milieu de ton sang.] 

7 Je t’ai fait croître comme l’herbe des champs; tu as grandi et tu t’es développée, tu es devenue très très belle: ta poitrine s’est formée, tes poils ont poussé, mais tu étais toujours complètement nue. 

8 Quand j’ai repassé près de toi et que je t’ai revue, je me suis aperçu que tu avais atteint l’âge de l’amour. Alors j’ai étendu sur toi le pan de mon manteau et j’ai couvert ta nudité. Je t’ai prêté serment pour conclure une alliance avec toi; le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. C’est ainsi que tu es devenue mienne. (5Mo 23,1; Rut 3,9; Spr 2,17; Mal 2,14) 

9 Je t’ai lavée à grande eau pour nettoyer le sang qui te couvrait, puis j’ai enduit ton corps d’huile parfumée. 

10 Je t’ai habillée d’une robe brodée et je t’ai chaussée de cuir fin. Je t’ai drapée dans du lin fin et je t’ai couverte d’un manteau de soie. 

11 Je t’ai parée de bijoux: j’ai orné tes poignets de bracelets, et ton cou d’un collier. 

12 J’ai mis un anneau à ton nez et des boucles à tes oreilles, j’ai posé sur ta tête un magnifique diadème. 

13 Tu étais parée d’or et d’argent, vêtue de fin lin, de soie et d’étoffes précieuses brodées. Tu te nourrissais de la farine la plus fine, de miel et d’huile. Tu es devenue extrêmement belle et tu es parvenue à la dignité royale. 

14 Ta renommée s’est répandue parmi les autres peuples à cause de ta beauté qui était parfaite, grâce à la splendeur dont je t’avais parée; le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. 

15 Mais tu t’es confiée en ta beauté, et tu as profité de ta renommée pour te prostituer, tu as prodigué tes débauches à tous les passants, et tu t’es donnée à eux. (Jes 1,21; Jes 57,3; Jer 3,2; Jer 13,27; Hos 2,4; Hos 3,3; Hos 5,4; Nah 3,4) 

16 Tu as pris certains de tes vêtements, tu les as cousus ensemble pour orner tes hauts lieux et tu t’es prostituée dessus. Jamais rien de tel ne s’était produit, jamais cela ne se reproduira. 

17 Tu as pris tes magnifiques bijoux faits de mon or et de mon argent que je t’avais donnés, tu en as fait des statues d’hommes et tu t’es livrée avec elles à la prostitution. 

18 Tu as pris tes vêtements brodés pour couvrir tes idoles, et tu leur as offert mon huile et mon encens. 

19 Tu as placé devant elles la nourriture que je t’avais donnée, la farine la plus fine, l’huile et le miel dont je t’avais nourrie, tout cela tu l’as présenté en offrandes d’odeur apaisante devant elles. Voilà ce que tu as fait, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. 

20 Tu as même pris tes fils et tes filles que tu m’avais enfantés, et tu les as offerts en sacrifice à ces images pour qu’elles les dévorent, comme s’il n’était pas suffisant de te livrer à la prostitution. (3Mo 18,21; 5Mo 18,10; 2Kön 16,3; 2Kön 17,17; 2Kön 21,6; 2Kön 23,10; Jer 3,24; Jer 7,31; Jer 19,5; Jer 32,5; Hes 20,31) 

21 Tu as égorgé mes fils et tu les as offerts à ces idoles. 

22 Et durant toutes ces années où tu te livrais à des pratiques abominables et à la prostitution, tu ne t’es pas souvenue du temps de ta jeunesse où tu te débattais toute nue dans ton sang. 

23 Ensuite, pour couronner toutes ces mauvaises actions – malheur, malheur à toi, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare – 

24 tu t’es construit un monticule et tu as aménagé des lieux élevés sur toutes les places. 

25 Tu les as dressés à chaque carrefour, tu as fait de ta beauté un usage abominable et tu t’es offerte à tous les passants, tu as multiplié tes prostitutions. 

26 Tu t’es prostituée avec les Egyptiens, tes voisins au grand corps, et tu as multiplié tes prostitutions pour m’irriter. (Jes 30,1; Hos 7,11; Hos 12,2) 

27 Alors je suis intervenu contre toi, je t’ai coupé les vivres et je t’ai livrée au bon plaisir de tes ennemies, les villes philistines, elles-mêmes indignées par ta conduite infâme. (2Chr 28,18; Hes 25,15) 

28 Mais tu étais insatiable; tu t’es prostituée avec les Assyriens. Et après t’être prostituée à eux, tu n’avais toujours pas satisfait tes envies. (2Kön 15,19; 2Kön 16,7; Hos 5,13; Hos 8,9) 

29 Alors tu as multiplié tes prostitutions dans le pays des marchands chaldéens, mais avec ceux-là non plus, tu n’as pas assouvi tes désirs. 

30 Oh, combien tu es faible de caractère, pour avoir commis toutes ces choses comme la plus experte des prostituées, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. 

31 Quand tu bâtissais tes monticules à chaque carrefour, et que tu dressais tes lieux élevés sur toutes les places, tu n’agissais même pas comme une prostituée ordinaire, car toi tu méprisais le salaire. 

32 Tu as été comme une femme adultère qui accueille d’autres hommes à la place de son mari. 

33 En effet, toutes les prostituées reçoivent des présents, mais toi, tu as fait des cadeaux à tous tes amants, tu les as achetés pour qu’ils viennent de partout se livrer à la prostitution avec toi. (2Kön 15,19; 2Kön 16,8) 

34 Dans ta prostitution, tu as fait le contraire des autres femmes; toi, tu n’étais même pas sollicitée et c’est toi qui payais tes amants au lieu de recevoir d’eux des présents. 

Le salaire du péché

35 C’est pourquoi, prostituée, écoute la parole de l’Eternel: 

36 Voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: Puisque tes trésors ont été dilapidés et que tu as découvert ta nudité au cours de tes prostitutions avec tes amants et avec toutes tes abominables idoles, puisque tu leur as offert en sacrifice le sang de tes enfants, 

37 à cause de cela, je vais rassembler tous tes amants auxquels tu t’es offerte, tous ceux que tu as aimés, auxquels je joindrai tous ceux que tu as haïs, je les rassemblerai de tous côtés contre toi, je découvrirai ta nudité devant eux pour qu’ils la voient tout entière. 

38 Je te condamnerai au châtiment des femmes adultères et de celles qui ont commis un meurtre: dans ma fureur et ma vive indignation, je te le ferai payer de ton sang. (3Mo 20,10; 5Mo 22,22) 

39 Je te livrerai au pouvoir de tes amants, ils raseront ton monticule et démoliront tes lieux élevés, ils t’arracheront tes vêtements et s’empareront de tes magnifiques bijoux. Ils te laisseront complètement nue. 

40 Ils ameuteront la populace contre toi, ils te lapideront et te transperceront de leurs épées. 

41 Ils brûleront tes maisons et, sous les yeux de nombreuses femmes, ils exécuteront la sentence contre toi. Je mettrai ainsi un terme à tes prostitutions: désormais, tu n’offriras plus de cadeaux à tes amants. 

42 J’assouvirai ma colère contre toi, et la fureur de mon amour bafoué se détournera de toi; je garderai le silence et je ne m’irriterai plus. 

43 Tu ne t’es pas souvenue du temps de ta jeunesse et tu t’es enragée contre moi pour commettre toutes ces choses. C’est pourquoi, à mon tour, je ferai retomber sur toi ton inconduite, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. N’as-tu pas couronné d’obscénités tes actes abominables? 

44 Voici: tous ceux qui aiment citer des proverbes t’appliqueront le dicton: “Telle mère, telle fille!” 

45 Tu es bien la fille de ta mère qui a pris en dégoût son mari et ses enfants, et tu es bien la sœur de tes sœurs qui ont pris en aversion leurs maris et leurs enfants. Votre mère était une Hittite et votre père un Amoréen. 

46 Ta sœur aînée qui habite au nord de toi, c’est Samarie avec ses cités-filles: et ta petite sœur, qui demeure au sud de toi, c’est Sodome avec ses filles. 

47 Tu ne t’es pas contentée de suivre un peu leur chemin et d’imiter un peu leurs pratiques abominables, mais tu t’es montrée bien pire qu’elles dans toute ta conduite. 

48 Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare: Sodome, ta sœur, et ses filles, n’ont jamais agi aussi mal que toi et tes filles. 

49 Voici quel était le crime de Sodome, ta sœur: elle et ses filles étaient devenues orgueilleuses parce qu’elles vivaient dans l’abondance et dans une tranquille insouciance. Elles n’ont offert aucun soutien aux pauvres et aux nécessiteux. 

50 Elles sont devenues hautaines et se sont mises à commettre sous mes yeux des actes abominables. C’est pourquoi je les ai fait disparaître comme tu l’as vu. 

51 Quant à Samarie, elle n’a pas commis la moitié de tes péchés et tu as accumulé plus d’actions abominables qu’elle, en sorte que, au vu de tous tes actes abominables, tu as fait paraître tes sœurs justes. 

52 Maintenant, ton tour est venu de porter la honte, toi qui condamnais tes sœurs, et qui, par les péchés que tu as commis et qui sont bien plus abominables que les leurs, as fait paraître tes sœurs plus justes que toi. Oui, honte à toi! A ton tour de porter l’opprobre, puisque ta conduite a fait paraître tes sœurs justes. 

53 Aussi je les restaurerai; je restaurerai Sodome et ses filles, et je restaurerai Samarie et ses filles, et toi, je te restaurerai au milieu d’elles 

54 pour que tu sois couverte de honte et chargée d’opprobre pour tout ce que tu as fait et qui a été pour eux un sujet de consolation. 

55 Ta sœur Sodome et ses filles seront rétablies dans leur état d’autrefois. Samarie et ses filles seront rétablies dans leur état d’autrefois. Toi aussi et tes filles, vous serez rétablies dans votre état d’autrefois. 

56 Ta sœur Sodome ne sera plus l’objet de tes sarcasmes comme au temps où tu étais orgueilleuse, 

57 avant que ta perversité fût mise à nu. Maintenant, c’est ton tour d’être déshonorée par les filles de la Syrie et toutes celles qui l’entourent, par les filles des Philistins qui te méprisent tout autour de toi. 

58 Tu portes à présent le poids de tes crimes infâmes et des abominations que tu as commises, l’Eternel le déclare. 

59 Car voici ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel: J’agirai envers toi comme tu as toi-même agi: tu as fait peu de cas du serment et tu as violé l’alliance. 

60 Cependant moi, je me souviendrai de l’alliance que j’ai conclue avec toi au temps de ta jeunesse, et j’établirai avec toi une alliance éternelle. 

61 De ton côté, tu te souviendras de ta conduite et tu en auras honte, quand tu accueilleras auprès de toi tes sœurs aînées et cadettes, et je te les donnerai pour filles, sans que cela soit inscrit dans mon alliance avec toi. 

62 Et j’établirai mon alliance avec toi et tu reconnaîtras que je suis l’Eternel. 

63 Alors tu te souviendras de ta conduite passée et tu seras saisie de honte, tu seras si confuse que tu n’oseras plus ouvrir la bouche lorsque je te pardonnerai tout ce que tu as fait. Le Seigneur, l’Eternel, le déclare. »
