Gleichnis: Jerusalem, das unnütze Holz der Weinrebe
1Und das Wort des HERRN geschah zu mir so:2Menschensohn, was hat ⟨denn⟩ das Holz des Weinstocks allem ⟨anderen⟩ Holz voraus, die Ranke, die unter den Bäumen des Waldes ist? (Jer 2,21)3Wird von ihm Holz genommen, um es zu einer Arbeit zu verwenden? Oder nimmt man von ihm einen Pflock, um irgendein Gerät daran aufzuhängen?4Siehe, dem Feuer ist es zum Fraß gegeben. Seine beiden Enden hat das Feuer gefressen, und seine Mitte ist versengt. Wird es ⟨noch⟩ zu einer Arbeit tauglich sein?5Siehe, ⟨selbst⟩ wenn es unversehrt ist, wird es zu keiner Arbeit verwendet. Wie viel weniger, wenn das Feuer es gefressen hat und es versengt ist, kann es noch zu einer Arbeit verwendet werden! –6Darum, so spricht der Herr, HERR: Wie das Holz des Weinstocks unter den Bäumen des Waldes, das ich dem Feuer zum Fraß gebe, so gebe ich die Bewohner von Jerusalem dahin. (Jes 5,24; Jes 27,11)7Und ich richte mein Angesicht gegen sie: Aus dem Feuer sind sie herausgekommen, doch Feuer wird sie fressen. Und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich der HERR bin, wenn ich mein Angesicht gegen sie richte. 1And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,2Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?3Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?4Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?5Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned?6Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.7And I will set my face against them; they shall go out from one fire, and another fire shall devour them; and ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I set my face against them.8And I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass, saith the Lord GOD.
1L’Eternel m’adressa la parole et me dit:2Fils d’homme, en quoi le bois des ceps de vigne serait-il supérieur à tous les autres bois? Le sarment vaudrait-il mieux que les autres arbres poussant dans la forêt[1]? (Jes 5,1; Jes 27,2; Hes 17,6; Hes 19,10; Hos 10,1; Mt 21,33)3Prendra-t-on de ce bois pour en fabriquer un objet? En fera-t-on une cheville pour suspendre un objet?4Non, il n’est bon qu’à être mis au feu pour être consumé. Quand le feu brûle les deux bouts, et que le milieu est en flammes, peut-il servir à quelque chose?5Lorsqu’il était intact, on ne pouvait déjà en faire aucun ouvrage, combien moins maintenant qu’il est tout consumé et brûlé par le feu, en fabriquerait-on quelque chose!6C’est pourquoi le Seigneur, l’Eternel, dit ceci: Comme je mets le feu aux sarments de la vigne afin qu’il les consume, de préférence au bois de tous les autres arbres, je vais livrer au feu ceux qui habitent la ville de Jérusalem.7Je vais intervenir contre eux: ils sont sortis d’un feu pour entrer dans un autre qui les consumera, et vous reconnaîtrez que je suis l’Eternel lorsque je m’en prendrai à eux.8De leur pays, je ferai un désert à cause de leurs rébellions. C’est là ce que déclare le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
