1Und die Söhne Israel taten weiter, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, nachdem Ehud gestorben war. (Jos 11,1; Ri 2,14; 1Sam 12,9)3Da schrien die Söhne Israel zu dem HERRN; denn er hatte neunhundert eiserne Wagen, und er quälte die Söhne Israel mit Gewalt zwanzig Jahre. (2Mo 2,23; Ri 1,19; Ri 3,9; Ri 5,1; Ri 6,6; Ri 10,10; Ps 106,42)4Und Debora, eine Prophetin, die Frau des Lappidot, war Richterin in Israel zu jener Zeit. (2Mo 15,20)5Sie hatte ihren Sitz[2] unter der Debora-Palme, zwischen Rama und Bethel, im Gebirge Ephraim. Und die Söhne Israel gingen zu ihr hinauf zum Gericht. Und sie sagte zu ihm: Hat der HERR, der Gott Israels, nicht geboten: Geh hin und zieh auf den Berg Tabor und nimm mit dir zehntausend Mann von den Söhnen Naftali und von den Söhnen Sebulon? (2Mo 14,4; 1Kön 18,40)8Da sagte Barak zu ihr: Wenn du mit mir gehst, gehe ich; wenn du aber nicht mit mir gehst, gehe ich nicht.9Da sagte sie: Ich will gerne mit dir gehen – nur dass ⟨dann⟩ die Ehre nicht dir ⟨zufällt⟩ auf dem Weg, den du gehst, denn in die Hand einer Frau wird der HERR den Sisera verkaufen. Und Debora machte sich auf und ging mit Barak nach Kedesch. (Ri 9,53)10Und Barak rief Sebulon und Naftali nach Kedesch zusammen. Und zehntausend Mann zogen in seinem Gefolge hinauf; auch Debora zog mit ihm hinauf. (Ri 6,35)11Heber aber, der Keniter, hatte sich von den Kenitern getrennt, ⟨von⟩ den Söhnen Hobabs, des Schwiegervaters des Mose. Und er hatte sein Zelt aufgeschlagen bis zur Terebinthe in Zaanannim, das bei Kedesch ⟨liegt⟩. (4Mo 10,29; Jos 19,33; Ri 1,16)12Und man berichtete dem Sisera, dass Barak, der Sohn Abinoams, auf den Berg Tabor hinaufgezogen sei. Und Sisera stieg vom Wagen herab und floh zu Fuß. (1Sam 7,10)16Barak aber jagte den Wagen und dem Heer nach bis Haroschet-Gojim[4]. So fiel das ganze Heer Siseras durch die Schärfe des Schwertes; kein Einziger blieb übrig. (Jos 10,10; Ri 5,24; Ps 83,10; Jes 43,17)17Sisera aber floh zu Fuß zum Zelt Jaëls, der Frau Hebers, des Keniters; denn es war Friede zwischen Jabin, dem König von Hazor, und dem Haus Hebers, des Keniters.18Da ging Jaël hinaus, dem Sisera entgegen. Und sie sagte zu ihm: Kehre ein, mein Herr, kehre ein zu mir, fürchte dich nicht! So kehrte er zu ihr ein in das Zelt, und sie bedeckte ihn mit einer Decke.19Und er sagte zu ihr: Gib mir ein wenig Wasser zu trinken, denn ich bin durstig! Da öffnete sie den Milchschlauch, gab ihm zu trinken und deckte ihn ⟨wieder⟩ zu.20Und er sagte zu ihr: Stell dich an den Eingang des Zeltes! Und es sei ⟨so⟩: Wenn jemand kommt und dich fragt und sagt: Ist jemand hier?, dann sage: Niemand!21Jaël aber, die Frau Hebers, ergriff einen Zeltpflock und nahm den Hammer in ihre Hand, und sie ging leise zu ihm hinein und schlug den Pflock durch seine Schläfe, dass er in die Erde drang – er war nämlich in tiefen Schlaf gefallen –; da wurde er ohnmächtig und starb[5].22Und siehe, als Barak Sisera nachjagte, da ging Jaël hinaus, ihm entgegen, und sagte zu ihm: Komm, ich will dir den Mann zeigen, den du suchst! Und er ging zu ihr hinein, und siehe, Sisera lag tot da, den Pflock in seiner Schläfe.23So demütigte Gott an jenem Tag Jabin, den König von Kanaan, vor den Söhnen Israel.24Und die Hand der Söhne Israel legte sich immer härter auf Jabin, den König von Kanaan, bis sie Jabin, den König von Kanaan, vernichtet hatten.
1And the people of Israel again did what was evil in the sight of the LORD after Ehud died. (Ri 2,19)2And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who lived in Harosheth-hagoyim. (Ri 1,19; Ri 3,9; Ri 4,13)4Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.5She used to sit under the palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the people of Israel came up to her for judgment. (Jos 24,33)6She sent and summoned Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh-naphtali and said to him, “Has not the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded you, ‘Go, gather your men at Mount Tabor, taking 10,000 from the people of Naphtali and the people of Zebulun. (Jos 19,37; Ri 8,18; Hebr 11,32)7And I will draw out Sisera, the general of Jabin’s army, to meet you by the river Kishon with his chariots and his troops, and I will give him into your hand’?” (Ri 3,28; Ri 4,13; Ri 5,21; 1Kön 18,40; Ps 83,9)8Barak said to her, “If you will go with me, I will go, but if you will not go with me, I will not go.”9And she said, “I will surely go with you. Nevertheless, the road on which you are going will not lead to your glory, for the LORD will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman.” Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. (Ri 2,14)10And Barak called out Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh. And 10,000 men went up at his heels, and Deborah went up with him. (Ri 5,18)11Now Heber the Kenite had separated from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, and had pitched his tent as far away as the oak in Zaanannim, which is near Kedesh. (4Mo 10,29; Jos 19,33; Ri 1,16)12When Sisera was told that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor,13Sisera called out all his chariots, 900 chariots of iron, and all the men who were with him, from Harosheth-hagoyim to the river Kishon. (Ri 4,3)14And Deborah said to Barak, “Up! For this is the day in which the LORD has given Sisera into your hand. Does not the LORD go out before you?” So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with 10,000 men following him. (5Mo 9,3; Ri 4,7; 2Sam 5,24; Ps 68,7; Jes 52,12)15And the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army before Barak by the edge of the sword. And Sisera got down from his chariot and fled away on foot. (Jos 10,10; Ri 4,23; Ps 83,9)16And Barak pursued the chariots and the army to Harosheth-hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left.17But Sisera fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.18And Jael came out to meet Sisera and said to him, “Turn aside, my lord; turn aside to me; do not be afraid.” So he turned aside to her into the tent, and she covered him with a rug.19And he said to her, “Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty.” So she opened a skin of milk and gave him a drink and covered him. (Ri 5,25)20And he said to her, “Stand at the opening of the tent, and if any man comes and asks you, ‘Is anyone here?’ say, ‘No.’”21But Jael the wife of Heber took a tent peg, and took a hammer in her hand. Then she went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple until it went down into the ground while he was lying fast asleep from weariness. So he died.22And behold, as Barak was pursuing Sisera, Jael went out to meet him and said to him, “Come, and I will show you the man whom you are seeking.” So he went in to her tent, and there lay Sisera dead, with the tent peg in his temple.23So on that day God subdued Jabin the king of Canaan before the people of Israel. (Ri 4,15)24And the hand of the people of Israel pressed harder and harder against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
