1Denn ich will nicht, dass ihr in Unkenntnis darüber seid, Brüder, dass unsere Väter alle unter der Wolke waren und alle durch das Meer hindurchgegangen sind (2Mo 13,21; 2Mo 14,19; 1Kor 12,1; 2Kor 1,8; 1Thess 4,13)2und alle in der Wolke und im Meer auf Mose getauft wurden3und alle dieselbe geistliche Speise aßen (2Mo 16,15; 5Mo 8,3)4und alle denselben geistlichen Trank tranken, denn sie tranken aus einem geistlichen Felsen, der ⟨sie⟩ begleitete. Der Fels aber war der Christus. (2Mo 17,6; Ps 78,15)5An den meisten von ihnen aber hatte Gott kein Wohlgefallen, denn sie sind in der Wüste hingestreckt worden. (4Mo 14,29; Ps 106,26; Joh 6,49; Hebr 3,17; Hebr 10,38)6Diese Dinge aber sind als Vorbilder für uns[1] geschehen, damit wir nicht nach Bösem gierig sind, wie jene gierig waren[2]. (4Mo 11,4)7Werdet auch nicht Götzendiener wie einige von ihnen!, wie geschrieben steht: »Das Volk setzte sich nieder, zu essen und zu trinken, und sie standen auf, zu spielen.« (2Mo 32,6)8Auch lasst uns nicht Unzucht[3] treiben, wie einige von ihnen Unzucht trieben, und es fielen an einem Tag dreiundzwanzigtausend. (4Mo 25,1; Ps 106,29; 1Kor 6,13)9Lasst uns auch den Christus[4] nicht versuchen, wie einige von ihnen ihn versuchten und von den Schlangen umgebracht wurden. (4Mo 21,5; Mt 4,7)10Murrt auch nicht, wie einige von ihnen murrten und von dem Verderber umgebracht wurden! (4Mo 14,2; 4Mo 16,11; 4Mo 17,6; Jud 1,16)11Alles dies aber widerfuhr jenen als Vorbild und ist geschrieben worden zur Ermahnung für uns, über die das Ende der Zeitalter[5] gekommen ist. (Röm 15,4; Hebr 9,26; 1Petr 4,7)12Daher, wer zu stehen meint, sehe zu, dass er nicht falle. (Röm 11,20; Gal 6,1)13Keine Versuchung hat euch ergriffen als nur eine menschliche; Gott aber ist treu, der nicht zulassen wird, dass ihr über euer Vermögen versucht werdet, sondern mit der Versuchung auch den Ausgang schaffen wird, sodass[6] ihr sie ertragen könnt. (1Kor 1,9; 2Petr 2,9)
Warnung vor Götzendienst im Blick auf den Tisch des Herrn
14Darum, meine Geliebten, flieht den Götzendienst! (1Joh 5,21)15Ich rede als zu Verständigen[7]. Beurteilt ihr, was ich sage! (1Kor 11,13)16Der Kelch des Segens, den wir segnen[8], ist er nicht ⟨die⟩ Gemeinschaft des Blutes des Christus? Das Brot, das wir brechen, ist es nicht ⟨die⟩ Gemeinschaft des Leibes des Christus? (Apg 2,42; 1Kor 11,23)17Denn ein Brot[9], ein Leib sind wir, die vielen, denn wir alle nehmen teil an dem einen Brot. (1Kor 12,12; Eph 4,4)18Seht auf das Israel nach dem Fleisch! Sind nicht die, welche die Schlachtopfer essen, in Gemeinschaft mit dem Altar[10]? (3Mo 7,6)19Was sage ich nun? Dass das einem Götzen Geopferte etwas sei? Oder dass ein Götzenbild etwas sei? (1Kor 8,4)20⟨Nein,⟩ sondern dass das, was sie[11] opfern, sie den Dämonen opfern und nicht Gott. Ich will aber nicht, dass ihr Gemeinschaft habt mit den[12] Dämonen. (Ps 106,37; Offb 2,20)21Ihr könnt nicht des Herrn Kelch trinken und der Dämonen Kelch; ihr könnt nicht am Tisch des Herrn teilnehmen und am Tisch der Dämonen. (Mal 1,7; Apg 15,20; 2Kor 6,15)22Oder wollen wir den Herrn zur Eifersucht reizen[13]? Sind wir etwa stärker als er? (5Mo 32,21; Ps 78,58)
Mahnung zum rechten Gebrauch der Freiheit beim Essen des Götzenopferfleisches
23Alles ist erlaubt, aber nicht alles ist nützlich; alles ist erlaubt, aber nicht alles erbaut. (1Kor 6,12)24Niemand suche das Seine, sondern das des anderen. (Röm 15,1; 1Kor 10,33; 1Kor 13,5; Phil 2,4)25Alles, was auf dem Fleischmarkt verkauft wird, esst, ohne es um des Gewissens willen zu untersuchen! (1Tim 4,4)26Denn »die Erde ist des Herrn und ihre Fülle «. (Ps 24,1; Ps 50,12)27Wenn jemand von den Ungläubigen euch einlädt, und ihr wollt hingehen, so esst alles, was euch vorgesetzt wird, ohne es um des Gewissens willen zu untersuchen.28Wenn aber jemand zu euch sagt: Dies ist Opferfleisch, so esst nicht, um jenes willen, der es anzeigt, und um des Gewissens willen! (1Kor 8,7)29Ich meine aber nicht das eigene Gewissen, sondern das des anderen. Denn warum wird meine Freiheit von einem anderen Gewissen beurteilt? (Röm 14,15)30Wenn ich mit Danksagung teilnehme, warum werde ich geschmäht für das, wofür ich danksage? (1Tim 4,4)31Ob ihr nun esst oder trinkt oder sonst etwas tut, tut alles zur Ehre Gottes! (Röm 14,6; 1Kor 6,20; Kol 3,17; 1Petr 4,11)32Seid unanstößig, sowohl für Juden als auch für Griechen[14] als auch für die Gemeinde[15] Gottes, (1Kor 8,9; 2Kor 8,21)33wie auch ich in allen Dingen allen zu gefallen strebe, dadurch, dass ich nicht meinen Vorteil suche, sondern den der vielen, dass sie gerettet werden. (1Kor 9,19; 1Kor 10,24)

(4Mo 25,1; 4Mo 25,9; Ps 106,29; Apg 15,20; 1Kor 6,18)9We must not put Christ[3] to the test, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents, (2Mo 17,2; 2Mo 17,7; 4Mo 21,5; 4Mo 21,6)10nor grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer. (1Kor 8,1)16The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? (Mt 26,26; Mt 26,27; Mt 26,28; Apg 2,42; Apg 20,7; 1Kor 11,23; 1Kor 11,24; 1Kor 11,25)17Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. (Röm 12,5; 1Kor 12,12; 1Kor 12,13; 1Kor 12,20; Eph 4,4; Eph 4,16; Kol 3,15)18Consider the people of Israel:[4] are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar? (3Mo 3,3; 3Mo 7,15; Röm 1,3; Röm 4,1; Röm 9,5; 2Kor 11,18; Hebr 13,10)19What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything? (1Kor 8,4)20No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. (5Mo 32,17)21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. (5Mo 32,38; Jes 65,11; 2Kor 6,15; 2Kor 6,16)22Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? (5Mo 32,21; Pred 6,10; Hes 22,14)
Do All to the Glory of God
23“All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. (1Kor 6,12; 1Kor 8,9)24Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor. (Röm 15,1; 1Kor 9,23; 1Kor 10,33; 1Kor 13,5; 2Kor 12,14; Phil 2,21)25Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience. (1Kor 8,7)26For “the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” (2Mo 9,29; 2Mo 19,5; 5Mo 10,14; Hi 41,11; Ps 24,1; Ps 50,12)27If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience. (Lk 10,8)28But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—29I do not mean your conscience, but his. For why should my liberty be determined by someone else’s conscience? (Röm 14,16; 1Kor 8,9; 1Kor 9,19)30If I partake with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of that for which I give thanks? (Röm 14,6; 1Tim 4,3; 1Tim 4,4)31So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (Kol 3,17; 1Petr 4,11)32Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, (Apg 20,28; Röm 14,13; 1Kor 8,13; 1Kor 11,16; 2Kor 6,3)33just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.
