1Den ersten Bericht[1] habe ich verfasst, Theophilus, von allem, was Jesus angefangen hat, zu tun und auch zu lehren, (Lk 1,3)2bis zu dem Tag, an dem er ⟨in den Himmel⟩ aufgenommen wurde, nachdem er den Aposteln, die er sich auserwählt, durch den Heiligen Geist Befehl gegeben hatte. (Lk 6,13; Apg 1,9)3Diesen hat er sich auch nach seinem Leiden in vielen sicheren Kennzeichen lebendig dargestellt, indem er sich vierzig Tage hindurch von ihnen sehen ließ und über die Dinge redete, die das Reich[2] Gottes betreffen. (Apg 10,40; Apg 13,31; Apg 19,8; Apg 28,23; 1Kor 15,5)
Jesu Himmelfahrt
4Und als er mit ihnen versammelt war[3], befahl er ihnen, sich nicht von Jerusalem zu entfernen, sondern auf die Verheißung des Vaters zu warten – die ihr⟨, sagte er,⟩ von mir gehört habt; (Lk 24,49; Joh 14,16; Apg 2,33)5denn Johannes taufte mit Wasser, ihr aber werdet mit[4] Heiligem Geist getauft werden nach diesen wenigen[5] Tagen. Wahl des Matthias zum Apostel
15Und in diesen Tagen stand Petrus in der Mitte der Brüder auf und sprach – und es war eine Menge von etwa hundertzwanzig Personen[11] beisammen –:16Ihr Brüder[12], es musste die Schrift erfüllt werden, die der Heilige Geist durch den Mund Davids vorhergesagt hat über Judas, der denen, die Jesus festnahmen, Wegweiser geworden ist. (Lk 22,4; Lk 24,44)17Denn er war uns zugezählt und hatte das Los dieses Dienstes empfangen. (Joh 6,70)18Dieser nun hat zwar von dem Lohn der Ungerechtigkeit einen Acker erworben, ist aber kopfüber gestürzt, mitten entzweigeborsten, und alle seine Eingeweide sind ausgeschüttet worden.19Und es ist allen Bewohnern von Jerusalem bekannt geworden, sodass jener Acker in ihrer eigenen Mundart Hakeldamach, das ist Blutacker, genannt worden ist. Elección de Matías para reemplazar a Judas

1Nel mio primo libro, o Teofilo[1], ho parlato di tutto quello che Gesù cominciò a fare e a insegnare2fino al giorno che fu elevato in cielo, dopo aver dato mediante lo Spirito Santo delle istruzioni agli apostoli che aveva scelti.3Ai quali anche, dopo che ebbe sofferto, si presentò vivente con molte prove, facendosi vedere da loro per quaranta giorni, parlando delle cose relative al regno di Dio.4Trovandosi con essi, ordinò loro di non allontanarsi da Gerusalemme, ma di attendere l’attuazione della promessa del Padre, «la quale», egli disse, «avete udita da me.5Perché Giovanni battezzò, sì con acqua, ma voi sarete battezzati in Spirito Santo fra non molti giorni».6Quelli dunque che erano riuniti gli domandarono: «Signore, è in questo tempo che ristabilirai il regno a Israele?»7Egli rispose loro: «Non spetta a voi sapere i tempi o i momenti che il Padre ha riservato alla propria autorità.8Ma voi riceverete potenza quando lo Spirito Santo verrà su di voi, e mi sarete testimoni in Gerusalemme, e in tutta la Giudea e Samaria, e fino all’estremità della terra».9Dette queste cose, mentre essi guardavano, fu elevato; e una nuvola, accogliendolo, lo sottrasse ai loro sguardi.10E come essi avevano gli occhi fissi al cielo, mentre egli se ne andava, due uomini in vesti bianche si presentarono a loro e dissero:11«Uomini di Galilea, perché state a guardare verso il cielo? L’attesa dello Spirito Santo
12Allora essi tornarono a Gerusalemme dal monte chiamato dell’Uliveto, che è vicino a Gerusalemme, non distandone che un cammin di sabato[2].13Quando furono entrati, salirono nella sala di sopra dove di consueto si trattenevano Pietro e Giovanni, Giacomo e Andrea, Filippo e Tommaso, Bartolomeo e Matteo, Giacomo d’Alfeo e Simone lo Zelota[3], e Giuda di Giacomo.14Tutti questi perseveravano concordi nella preghiera, con le donne e con Maria, madre di Gesù, e con i fratelli di lui.
Mattia scelto al posto di Giuda
15In quei giorni Pietro, alzatosi in mezzo ai fratelli (il numero delle persone riunite era di circa centoventi), disse:16«Fratelli, era necessario che si adempisse la profezia della Scrittura[4] pronunciata dallo Spirito Santo per bocca di Davide riguardo a Giuda, che fece da guida a quelli che arrestarono Gesù.17Perché egli era uno di noi e aveva ricevuto la sua parte di questo ministero.18Egli dunque acquistò un campo con il salario della sua iniquità; poi, essendosi precipitato, gli si squarciò il ventre, e tutte le sue interiora si sparsero.19Questo è divenuto così noto a tutti gli abitanti di Gerusalemme, che quel campo è stato chiamato nella loro lingua “Acheldama”, cioè “campo di sangue”.20Infatti sta scritto nel libro dei Salmi: “La sua dimora diventi deserta e più nessuno abiti in essa”; e: “Il suo incarico lo prenda un altro”[5].21Bisogna dunque che tra gli uomini che sono stati in nostra compagnia tutto il tempo che il Signore Gesù visse con noi,22a cominciare dal battesimo di Giovanni fino al giorno che egli, tolto da noi, è stato elevato in cielo, uno diventi testimone con noi della sua risurrezione».23Essi ne presentarono due: Giuseppe, detto Barsabba, che era soprannominato Giusto, e Mattia.24Poi in preghiera dissero: «Tu, Signore, che conosci i cuori di tutti, mostra quale di questi due hai scelto25per prendere, in questo ministero e apostolato, il posto che Giuda ha abbandonato per andarsene al suo luogo».26Tirarono quindi a sorte e la sorte cadde su Mattia, che fu aggiunto agli undici apostoli.
