1Ein Mann aber in Cäsarea mit Namen Kornelius – ein Hauptmann von der sogenannten Italischen Schar[1],2fromm und gottesfürchtig mit seinem ganzen Haus, der dem Volk viele Almosen gab und allezeit zu Gott betete – (Lk 7,5; Apg 9,36; Apg 16,14; Apg 18,7)3sah in einer Erscheinung ungefähr um die neunte Stunde des Tages[2] deutlich, wie ein Engel Gottes zu ihm hereinkam und zu ihm sagte: Kornelius! (Apg 3,1; Apg 5,19)4Er aber sah ihn gespannt an und wurde von Furcht erfüllt und sagte: Was ist, Herr? Er sprach aber zu ihm: Deine Gebete und deine Almosen sind hinaufgestiegen zum Gedächtnis vor Gott. (Lk 1,12)5Und jetzt sende Männer nach Joppe und lass Simon holen, der den Beinamen Petrus hat!6Dieser herbergt bei einem Gerber Simon, dessen Haus am Meer ist. Des Petrus Sendung zu den Heiden nach Cäsarea
9Am folgenden Tag aber, während jene reisten und sich der Stadt näherten, stieg Petrus um die sechste Stunde[3] auf das Dach, um zu beten. (Dan 6,11; Apg 11,5)10Er wurde aber hungrig und verlangte zu essen. Während sie ihm aber zubereiteten, kam eine Verzückung über ihn. (Apg 22,17)11Und er sieht den Himmel geöffnet und ein Gefäß, gleich einem großen, leinenen Tuch, herabkommen, an vier Zipfeln auf die Erde herabgelassen; (Hes 1,1; Apg 7,56)12darin waren allerlei vierfüßige und kriechende Tiere der Erde und Vögel des Himmels.13Und eine Stimme erging an ihn: Steh auf, Petrus, schlachte und iss!14Petrus aber sprach: Keineswegs, Herr! Denn niemals habe ich irgendetwas Gemeines[4] oder Unreines gegessen. (3Mo 20,25; Hes 4,14)15Und wieder erging eine Stimme zum zweiten Mal an ihn: Was Gott gereinigt hat, mach du nicht gemein! Am folgenden Tag aber machte er sich auf und zog mit ihnen fort, und einige der Brüder von Joppe gingen mit ihm;24und am folgenden Tag kamen sie[5] nach Cäsarea. Kornelius aber, der seine Verwandten und nächsten Freunde zusammengerufen hatte, erwartete sie.
Petrus in Cäsarea – Bekehrung des Kornelius
25Als es aber geschah, dass Petrus hereinkam, ging Kornelius ihm entgegen, fiel ihm zu Füßen und huldigte ihm. (Apg 11,13)26Petrus aber richtete ihn auf und sprach: Steh auf! Auch ich bin ein Mensch. (Apg 14,14; Offb 19,10)27Und während er sich mit ihm unterhielt, ging er hinein und findet viele versammelt.28Und er sprach zu ihnen: Ihr wisst, wie unerlaubt es für einen jüdischen Mann ist, sich einem Fremdling[6] anzuschließen oder zu ihm zu kommen; und mir hat Gott gezeigt, keinen Menschen gemein oder unrein zu nennen. (Apg 11,2)29Darum kam ich auch ohne Widerrede, als ich geholt wurde. Ich frage nun: Aus welchem Grund habt ihr mich holen lassen?30Und Kornelius sprach: Vor vier Tagen betete ich in meinem Haus bis zu dieser, der neunten Stunde; und siehe, ein Mann stand vor mir in glänzendem Gewand (Apg 1,10)31und spricht: Kornelius! Dein Gebet ist erhört, und deiner Almosen ist gedacht worden vor Gott.32Sende nun nach Joppe und lass Simon holen mit dem Beinamen Petrus! Dieser herbergt im Hause Simons, eines Gerbers, am Meer.[7]33Sofort nun sandte ich zu dir, und du hast wohlgetan, dass du gekommen bist. Jetzt sind wir nun alle vor Gott zugegen, um alles zu hören, was dir vom Herrn aufgetragen ist. (5Mo 5,27; Apg 10,3)34Petrus aber öffnete den Mund und sprach: In Wahrheit begreife ich, dass Gott die Person nicht ansieht, (Mt 22,16; Apg 15,7; Röm 2,11; Gal 2,6; Eph 6,9; Kol 3,25; Jak 2,1; 1Petr 1,17)35sondern in jeder Nation ist, wer ihn fürchtet und Gerechtigkeit wirkt, ihm angenehm. (Ps 15,2; Ps 147,11; Röm 2,26)36Das Wort, das er den Söhnen Israels gesandt hat, indem er Frieden verkündigte[8] durch Jesus Christus – dieser ist aller Herr – (Apg 2,36; Röm 10,12; Eph 2,17; Offb 17,14)37kennt ihr; die Sache[9], die, angefangen von Galiläa, durch ganz Judäa hin geschehen ist, nach der Taufe, die Johannes predigte: (Lk 3,3)38Jesus von Nazareth, wie Gott ihn mit Heiligem Geist und mit Kraft gesalbt hat, der umherging und wohltat und alle heilte, die von dem Teufel überwältigt waren, denn Gott war mit ihm. (Mt 2,23; Mt 4,23; Apg 2,22; Apg 4,27)39Und wir sind Zeugen alles dessen, was er sowohl im Lande der Juden als auch in Jerusalem getan hat; den haben sie auch umgebracht, indem sie ihn an ein Holz hängten. (Apg 1,8; Apg 2,36)40Diesen hat Gott am dritten Tag auferweckt und ihn sichtbar werden lassen, (Apg 2,24)41nicht dem ganzen Volk, sondern den von Gott zuvor erwählten Zeugen, uns, die wir mit ihm gegessen und getrunken haben, nachdem er aus den Toten auferstanden war. (Lk 24,43; Joh 14,22; Joh 21,13; Apg 1,3)42Und er hat uns befohlen, dem Volk zu predigen und eindringlich zu bezeugen, dass er der von Gott verordnete Richter der Lebenden und der Toten ist. (Mk 16,15; Joh 5,22; Apg 13,47; Apg 17,31; Röm 14,9; 2Tim 4,1)43Diesem geben alle Propheten Zeugnis, dass jeder, der an ihn glaubt, Vergebung der Sünden empfängt durch seinen Namen. (Jes 53,5; Apg 4,12)44Während Petrus noch diese Worte redete, fiel der Heilige Geist auf alle, die das Wort hörten.45Und die Gläubigen aus der Beschneidung, so viele ihrer mit Petrus gekommen waren, gerieten außer sich, dass auch auf die Nationen die Gabe des Heiligen Geistes ausgegossen worden war;46denn sie hörten sie in Sprachen[10] reden und Gott erheben. Dann antwortete Petrus: (Apg 2,4; 1Kor 14,2)47Könnte wohl jemand das Wasser verwehren, dass diese nicht getauft würden, die den Heiligen Geist empfangen haben wie auch wir?48Und er befahl, dass sie getauft würden im Namen Jesu Christi. Peter’s Vision
9The next day, as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the housetop about the sixth hour[2] to pray. (2Kön 23,12; Ps 55,17; Jer 19,13; Jer 32,29; Zef 1,5; Apg 11,5)10And he became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while they were preparing it, he fell into a trance (Apg 22,17)11and saw the heavens opened and something like a great sheet descending, being let down by its four corners upon the earth. (Joh 1,51)12In it were all kinds of animals and reptiles and birds of the air.13And there came a voice to him: “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”14But Peter said, “By no means, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.” (3Mo 11,2; 3Mo 20,25; 5Mo 14,4; Hes 4,14; Dan 1,8; Apg 10,28)15And the voice came to him again a second time, “What God has made clean, do not call common.” (Mt 15,11; Mk 7,15; Mk 7,19; Röm 14,2; Röm 14,14; Röm 14,20; 1Kor 10,25; 1Tim 4,4; Tit 1,15)16This happened three times, and the thing was taken up at once to heaven.17Now while Peter was inwardly perplexed as to what the vision that he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate (Apg 10,3; Apg 10,7)18and called out to ask whether Simon who was called Peter was lodging there.19And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. (Apg 8,29; Apg 10,17)20Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation,[3] for I have sent them.” (Apg 15,7)21And Peter went down to the men and said, “I am the one you are looking for. What is the reason for your coming?”22And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.” (Mk 8,38; Apg 2,1; Apg 11,14)23So he invited them in to be his guests. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.25When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him. (Dan 2,46; Mt 8,2; Apg 16,29)26But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.” (Offb 14,15; Offb 19,10; Offb 22,8; Offb 22,9)27And as he talked with him, he went in and found many persons gathered.28And he said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean. 44While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word. (Apg 11,15; Apg 15,8; 1Thess 1,5; 1Thess 2,4)45And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. (Apg 2,17; Apg 2,38; Apg 10,23; Apg 11,2)46For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared, (Mk 16,17)47“Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” (Apg 2,4; Apg 8,36; Apg 11,17; Apg 15,8)48And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Il giorno seguente si alzò e andò con loro, e alcuni fratelli di Ioppe lo accompagnarono.24L’indomani arrivarono a Cesarea. Ora vi chiedo: qual è il motivo per cui mi avete mandato a chiamare?»30Cornelio disse: «Quattro giorni or sono stavo pregando, all’ora nona, in casa mia, quand’ecco un uomo mi si presentò davanti, in veste risplendente,31e disse: “Cornelio, la tua preghiera è stata esaudita e le tue elemosine sono state ricordate davanti a Dio.32Manda dunque qualcuno a Ioppe e fa’ venire Simone, detto anche Pietro; egli è ospite in casa di Simone, conciatore di pelli, in riva al mare”.33Perciò subito mandai a chiamarti, e tu hai fatto bene a venire; ora dunque siamo tutti qui presenti davanti a Dio per ascoltare tutto ciò che ti è stato comandato dal Signore».34Allora Pietro, cominciando a parlare, disse: «In verità comprendo che Dio non ha riguardi personali,35ma che in qualunque nazione chi lo teme e opera giustamente gli è gradito.36Questa è la parola che egli ha diretta ai figli d’Israele, portando il lieto messaggio di pace per mezzo di Gesù Cristo. Egli è il Signore di tutti.37Voi sapete quello che è avvenuto in tutta la Giudea, incominciando dalla Galilea, dopo il battesimo predicato da Giovanni,38vale a dire, la storia di Gesù di Nazaret: come Dio lo ha unto di Spirito Santo e di potenza, e come egli è andato dappertutto facendo del bene e guarendo tutti quelli che erano sotto il potere del diavolo, perché Dio era con lui.39E noi siamo testimoni di tutte le cose da lui compiute nel paese dei Giudei e in Gerusalemme; essi lo uccisero, appendendolo a un legno.40Ma Dio lo ha risuscitato il terzo giorno e volle che egli si manifestasse41non a tutto il popolo, ma ai testimoni prescelti da Dio; cioè a noi, che abbiamo mangiato e bevuto con lui dopo la sua risurrezione dai morti.42E ci ha comandato di annunciare al popolo e di testimoniare che egli è colui che è stato da Dio costituito giudice dei vivi e dei morti.43Di lui attestano tutti i profeti che chiunque crede in lui riceve il perdono dei peccati mediante il suo nome».44Mentre Pietro parlava così, lo Spirito Santo scese su tutti quelli che ascoltavano la Parola.45E tutti i credenti circoncisi[5], che erano venuti con Pietro, si meravigliarono che il dono dello Spirito Santo fosse dato anche agli stranieri,46perché li udivano parlare in altre lingue e glorificare Dio.47Allora Pietro disse: «C’è forse qualcuno che possa negare l’acqua e impedire che siano battezzati questi che hanno ricevuto lo Spirito Santo come noi?»48E comandò che fossero battezzati nel nome di Gesù Cristo. Allora essi lo pregarono di rimanere alcuni giorni con loro.
