1So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. (赛56:7; 玛1:11; 羅12:1; 羅15:16; 林前3:9; 弗2:20; 腓4:18; 來3:4; 來3:6; 來13:15; 彼前2:9)6For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” (赛28:16; 羅9:33; 羅10:11)7So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”[1] (诗118:22; 林后2:16)8and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. (赛8:14; 羅9:22; 羅9:33; 犹1:4)9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (出19:5; 出19:6; 申7:6; 申10:15; 诗36:9; 赛42:16; 赛43:20; 赛43:21; 赛61:6; 赛66:21; 玛3:17; 徒26:18; 启1:6; 启5:10)10Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (何1:6; 何1:9; 何2:23; 羅9:25; 羅10:19)11Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. (利25:23; 羅13:14; 加5:24; 雅4:1)12Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation. Submission to Authority
13Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution,[2] whether it be to the emperor[3] as supreme, (羅13:1; 多3:1)14or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. (羅13:3; 羅13:4)15For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. (彼前2:12)16Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants[4] of God. (羅6:22; 林前7:22; 雅1:25)17Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. (箴24:21; 羅12:10; 羅13:7; 來13:1)18Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. (弗6:5; 西3:22; 提前6:1; 多2:9)19For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. (彼前3:14; 彼前3:17; 彼前4:16)20For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. (彼前3:17; 彼前4:13; 彼前4:16)21For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
