1 Po šesti dnech vzal s sebou Ježíš Petra, Jakuba a jeho bratra Jana a vyvedl je na vysokou horu, kde byli sami.2 A byl proměněn před jejich očima; jeho tvář zářila jako slunce a jeho šat byl oslnivě bílý.3 A hle, zjevil se jim Mojžíš a Eliáš, jak s ním rozmlouvají.4 Nato promluvil Petr a řekl Ježíšovi: „Pane, je dobré, že jsme zde; chceš-li, udělám tu tři stany, jeden tobě, jeden Mojžíšovi a jeden Eliášovi.“5 Ještě nedomluvil, a hle, světlý oblak je zastínil a z oblaku promluvil hlas: „To jest můj milovaný Syn, kterého jsem si vyvolil; toho poslouchejte.“6 Když to učedníci uslyšeli, padli tváří k zemi a velmi se báli.7 Ale Ježíš přistoupil, dotkl se jich a řekl: „Vstaňte a nebojte se.“8 Oni pozvedli oči a neviděli už nikoho jiného než Ježíše samotného. 9 Když sestupovali z hory, přikázal jim Ježíš: „Nikomu o tom vidění neříkejte, dokud Syn člověka nebude vzkříšen z mrtvých.“10 Učedníci se ho ptali: „Jak to, že říkají zákoníci, že napřed musí přijít Eliáš?“11 On jim odpověděl: „Ano, Eliáš přijde a obnoví všecko.12 Avšak pravím vám, že Eliáš již přišel, ale nepoznali ho a udělali s ním, co se jim zlíbilo; tak i Syn člověka bude od nich trpět.“13 Tehdy učedníci pochopili, že mluvil o Janu Křtiteli.
— Uzdravení posedlého chlapce
14 Když přišli k zástupu, přistoupil k němu jeden člověk a na kolenou prosil:15 „Pane, smiluj se nad mým synem, neboť je náměsíčný a je na tom zle: často padá do ohně a často do vody.16 A přivedl jsem ho k tvým učedníkům, ale nemohli ho uzdravit.“17 Ježíš odpověděl: „Pokolení nevěřící a zvrácené, jak dlouho ještě budu s vámi? Jak dlouho vás mám ještě snášet? Přiveďte mi ho sem!“18 Ježíš mu pohrozil, a zlý duch z něho vyšel; a od té chvíle byl chlapec zdráv. 19 Když byli učedníci s Ježíšem sami, přistoupili k němu a řekli: „Proč jsme ho nemohli vyhnat my?“20 On jim řekl: „Pro vaši malověrnost! Amen, pravím vám, budete-li mít víru jako zrnko hořčice, řeknete této hoře: ‚Přejdi odtud tam‘, a přejde; a nic vám nebude nemožné. 21 Takový duch nevyjde jinak než modlitbou a postem.“
— Druhá předpověď utrpení
22 Když byli spolu v Galileji, řekl jim Ježíš: „Syn člověka bude vydán do rukou lidí;23 zabijí ho, a třetí den bude vzkříšen.“ Velice se zarmoutili.
— Chrámová daň
24 Když přišli do Kafarnaum, přistoupili k Petrovi výběrčí chrámové daně a řekli: „Váš Mistr neplatí chrámovou daň?“25 On řekl: „Platí!“ Když přišel domů, ještě než promluvil, řekl mu Ježíš: „Co myslíš, Šimone, od koho vybírají pozemští králové poplatky a daně? Od svých synů nebo od cizích lidí?“26 Když odpověděl: „Od cizích“, pravil mu Ježíš: „Synové jsou tedy svobodni.27 Ale abychom je nepohoršili, jdi k moři a hoď udici; vytáhni rybu, která se první chytí, otevři jí ústa a najdeš peníz; ten vezmi a dej jim za mne i za sebe.“

(Gn 17,3; Ez 1,28; 2P 1,18; Zj 1,17)7But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” (Da 8,18; Da 10,10; Da 10,18; Mt 14,27)8And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.9And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.” (Mt 8,4; Mt 12,16; Mk 9,9)10And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” (Mal 4,5; Mt 11,14)11He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. (L 1,16; Sk 1,6; Sk 3,21)12But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.” (Mt 14,3; Mt 14,10; Mt 16,21)13Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist. (Mt 16,12)
Jesus Heals a Boy with a Demon
14And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him, (Mk 9,14; L 9,37)15said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. (Mt 4,24)16And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.” (Mt 10,1; Mk 6,7; L 10,17)17And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” (J 14,9; J 20,27; Fp 2,15)18And Jesus rebuked the demon,[2] and it[3] came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.[4] (Za 3,2; Mt 8,26; Mt 9,22; Mk 1,25; L 4,35; L 4,39; Ju 1,9)19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”20He said to them, “Because of your little faith. Jesus Again Foretells Death, Resurrection
22As they were gathering[6] in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men, (Mt 16,21; Mt 20,17; Mk 9,30; L 9,43)23and they will kill him, and he will be raised on the third day.” And they were greatly distressed. (Mk 8,31)
The Temple Tax
24When they came to Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax went up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” (Ex 30,13; Ex 38,26; Mk 9,33)25He said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, Jesus spoke to him first, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of the earth take toll or tax? From their sons or from others?” (Mt 18,12; Mt 21,28; Mt 22,17; Mt 22,19; Mk 12,14; Ř 13,7)26And when he said, “From others,” Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free.27However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea and cast a hook and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel.[7] Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.”
