ODPADNUTÍ OD HOSPODINA NEZŮSTANE BEZ TRESTU - — V bráně Hospodinova domu - Prorok má lidu ukázat na zvrácenost jeho pojetí bohoslužby a vyzvat jej k nápravě života.
1 Slovo, které se stalo od Hospodina k Jeremjášovi:2 „Postav se do brány Hospodinova domu a volej tam toto slovo. Řekneš: Slyšte slovo Hospodinovo, všichni Judejci, kteří vcházíte těmito branami klanět se Hospodinu.“ 3 Toto praví Hospodin zástupů, Bůh Izraele: „Napravte své cesty a své skutky a nechám vás přebývat na tomto místě.4 Nespoléhejte na klamná slova: ‚Je to chrám Hospodinův, chrám Hospodinův, chrám Hospodinův.‘5 Jestliže napravíte své cesty a své skutky, budete-li mezi sebou zachovávat právo,6 nebudete-li utlačovat bezdomovce, sirotka a vdovu, nebudete-li na tomto místě prolévat nevinnou krev a nebudete-li chodit ke své škodě za jinými bohy,7 pak vás nechám přebývat na tomto místě, v zemi, kterou jsem dal vašim otcům na věky věků.8 Ale vy spoléháte na klamná slova, jež nejsou k užitku.9 Smí se krást, vraždit, cizoložit, křivě přísahat, pálit kadidlo baalům a chodit za jinými neznámými bohy?10 A přitom přicházíte a stavíte se přede mne v tomto domě, který je nazýván mým jménem, a říkáte: ‚Jsme vysvobozeni.‘ To proto, abyste mohli páchat všechny tyto ohavnosti?11 Což se stal ve vašich očích tento dům, který je nazýván mým jménem, úkrytem lupičů? Hle, také já vidím, je výrok Hospodinův. 12 Jen jděte do Šíla, na místo, kde jsem dal zpočátku přebývat svému jménu, a podívejte se, jak jsem s ním pro zlobu svého izraelského lidu naložil.13 Nyní tedy, protože jste se dopustili všech těch činů, je výrok Hospodinův, mluvil jsem k vám, nepřetržitě jsem mluvil, ale neposlouchali jste, volával jsem vás, ale neodpovídali jste,14 proto naložím s domem, který je nazýván mým jménem a na který spoléháte, s místem, jež jsem dal vám a vašim otcům, stejně, jako jsem naložil se Šílem.15 Odmrštím vás od své tváře, jako jsem odmrštil všechny vaše bratry, všechno potomstvo Efrajimovo.“
— Hospodin nevyslyší neposlušný lid - Hospodin žádá na lidu poslušnost. Prosby neposlušného lidu nebude vyslýchat.
16 „Nemodli se za tento lid, nepozvedej svůj hlas k bědování a modlitbě za ně a nenaléhej na mě, neboť tě nevyslyším.17 Což sám nevidíš, čeho se v judských městech a na ulicích Jeruzaléma dopouštějí?18 Synové sbírají dříví, otcové zapalují oheň a ženy hnětou těsto, dělají obětní koláč pro královnu nebes a přinášejí úlitby jiným bohům, aby mě uráželi. 19 Urážejí tím opravdu mne? je výrok Hospodinův. Což nedělají ostudu sami sobě?“20 Proto praví Panovník Hospodin toto: „Hle, můj hněv a mé rozhořčení se vyleje na toto místo, na lidi i dobytek, na stromoví na poli i na plody země a bude hořet a neuhasne.“ 21 Toto praví Hospodin zástupů, Bůh Izraele: „Přidejte své zápalné oběti ke svým obětním hodům a jezte maso!22 Nemluvil jsem k vašim otcům o zápalné oběti a obětním hodu v den, kdy jsem je vyvedl ze země egyptské; žádný takový příkaz jsem jim nedal.23 Přikázal jsem jim jedině toto: ‚Poslouchejte mě a budu vám Bohem a vy budete mým lidem, choďte po všech cestách, jak jsem vám přikázal, a povede se vám dobře.‘24 Ale neposlechli, své ucho nenaklonili, žili podle záměrů svého zarputilého a zlého srdce, obraceli se ke mně zády, a ne tváří,25 a to ode dne, kdy vaši otcové vyšli z egyptské země, až dodnes. Posílával jsem k nim nepřetržitě všechny své služebníky proroky, posílal jsem je denně,26 ale neuposlechli mě, své ucho nenaklonili, zůstali tvrdošíjní a jednali hůř než jejich otcové.27 Vyřídíš jim všechna tato slova, ale oni tě neposlechnou, budeš k nim volat, a neodpovědí ti.28 Řekneš jim: Toto je pronárod, který neposlouchá Hospodina, svého Boha, a nedá se napomenout. Ztratila se věrnost, je odťata od jejich úst.“
— Trest za modloslužbu - Lid se shledá s následky své modloslužby. Marně bude hledat pomoc u celého nebeského zástupu.
29 „Odstřihni si vlasy svého zasvěcení a odhoď je, zapěj na holých návrších žalozpěv, protože Hospodin zavrhl a odmrštil pokolení, na něž se hněvá. 30 Judští synové se dopouštěli toho, co je zlé v mých očích, je výrok Hospodinův. V domě, který je nazýván mým jménem, postavili ohyzdné modly, a tak jej poskvrnili.31 V Tófetu, který je v Údolí syna Hinómova, postavili posvátná návrší a spalovali své syny a své dcery ohněm. To jsem jim nepřikázal, ani mi to nepřišlo na mysl.32 Proto hle, přicházejí dny, je výrok Hospodinův, kdy se už nebude říkat: ‚Tófet‘ ani ‚Údolí syna Hinómova‘, nýbrž ‚Údolí vraždění‘. V Tófetu se bude pohřbívat, a až nebude místo,33 stanou se mrtvoly tohoto lidu pokrmem nebeskému ptactvu a zemskému zvířectvu, jež nikdo nevyplaší.34 Způsobím, že v judských městech a na ulicích Jeruzaléma přestane hlas veselí, hlas radosti, hlas ženicha i hlas nevěsty, neboť země bude obrácena v trosky.“

(Oz 6,6)23But this command I gave them: ‘Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. (2Pa 30,8; Jr 7,24; Jr 16,12)27“So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you. (Jr 1,17; Jr 7,13)28And you shall say to them, ‘This is the nation that did not obey the voice of the Lord their God, and did not accept discipline; truth has perished; it is cut off from their lips. (Jr 9,3)29“Cut off your hair and cast it away; raise a lamentation on the bare heights, for the Lord has rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.’ (Jb 1,20; Jr 3,2)
The Valley of Slaughter
30“For the sons of Judah have done evil in my sight, declares the Lord. They have set their detestable things in the house that is called by my name, to defile it. (2Kr 21,4; 2Kr 21,7; Jr 7,10; Jr 19,5; Jr 32,34; Ez 5,11; Ez 7,20)31And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into my mind. (Dt 17,3; Jz 18,16; 2Kr 23,10; Ž 106,38; Jr 7,21; Jr 31,40)32Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it will no more be called Topheth, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter; for they will bury in Topheth, because there is no room elsewhere. (Jr 7,31; Jr 19,6; Jr 19,11; Ez 6,5)33And the dead bodies of this people will be food for the birds of the air, and for the beasts of the earth, and none will frighten them away. (Dt 28,26; Ž 79,2; Iz 17,2; Jr 12,9; Jr 16,4; Jr 19,7; Jr 34,20)34And I will silence in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land shall become a waste.
