— Jeremjáš zůstane osamělý - Jeremjáš se stává viditelným znamením pro svůj lid.
1 Stalo se ke mně slovo Hospodinovo:2 „Neber si ženu. Nebudeš mít na tomto místě syny ani dcery.3 Toto praví Hospodin o synech a dcerách zrozených na tomto místě, o jejich matkách, které je porodily, a o jejich otcích, kteří je zplodili v této zemi:4 Zemřou na smrtelné nemoci. Nebude se nad nimi naříkat a nebudou pohřbeni. Budou hnojem na povrchu role. Skoncuje s nimi meč a hlad. Jejich mrtvoly budou za pokrm nebeskému ptactvu a zemskému zvířectvu.“ 5 Toto praví Hospodin: „Nevcházej do domu smuteční hostiny, nechoď tam, kde se naříká, a neprojevuj jim soustrast, neboť já jsem tomuto lidu vzal svůj pokoj, je výrok Hospodinův, spolu s milosrdenstvím a slitováním.6 Velcí i malí v této zemi zemřou a nebudou pohřbeni. Nebude se nad nimi naříkat a nikdo si pro ně nebude dělat smuteční zářezy ani lysinu.7 Při truchlení nebudou lámat chléb, aby potěšili toho, kdo truchlí nad mrtvým, nedají napít z kalicha útěchy těm, kdo truchlí nad otcem či matkou.8 Nevejdeš ani do domu, v němž se hoduje, abys tam s nimi poseděl, pojedl a popil.“ 9 Toto praví Hospodin zástupů, Bůh Izraele: „Hle, způsobím, že na tomto místě, před vaším zrakem a za vašich dnů přestane veselí a hlas radosti, hlas ženicha a hlas nevěsty.“ 10 „Až oznámíš tomuto lidu všechna tato slova, zeptají se tě: ‚Proč Hospodin promluvil proti nám všechno toto velké zlo? Jaká je naše nepravost? Jaký je náš hřích? V čem jsme hřešili proti Hospodinu, našemu Bohu?‘11 Na to jim odpovíš: V tom, že mě vaši otcové opustili, je výrok Hospodinův, a chodili za jinými bohy, sloužili jim a klaněli se jim; mne opustili a můj zákon nedodržovali.12 Vy však jste činili horší věci než vaši otcové; hle, každý z vás si žije podle svého zarputilého a zlého srdce a mne neposlouchá.13 Z této země vás uvrhnu do země, kterou jste nepoznali vy ani vaši otcové, a tam budete dnem i nocí sloužit jiným bohům. Už pro vás nemám žádné smilování.“
— Obrácení pohanů - Nad pozůstatkem lidu se Hospodin slituje. I pohané se k němu připojí.
14 „Hle, přicházejí dny, je výrok Hospodinův, kdy se už nebude říkat: ‚Jakože živ je Hospodin, který vyvedl syny Izraele z egyptské země,‘15 nýbrž: ‚Jakože živ je Hospodin, který vyvedl syny Izraele ze severní země a ze všech zemí, kam je rozehnal.‘ Přivedu je zpět do země, kterou jsem dal jejich otcům.“ 16 „Hle, já posílám k mnohým rybářům, je výrok Hospodinův, a ti je vyloví jako ryby, pak také pošlu k mnohým lovcům a ti je budou lovit na každé hoře a na každém pahorku a ve skalních trhlinách.17 Mám na zřeteli všechny jejich cesty; neskryjí se přede mnou, před mým zrakem svou nepravost neschovají.18 Napřed jim totiž za jejich nepravost a za jejich hřích dvojnásobně odplatím. Znesvětili mou zemi mršinami svých ohyzdných model a naplnili mé dědictví svými ohavnostmi.“ 19 Hospodine, má sílo a má záštito, mé útočiště v den soužení, k tobě přijdou pronárody ze všech dálav země a řeknou: „Jistě naši otcové v dědictví obdrželi klam, přelud, který k užitku jim nebyl.“ 20 „Může si člověk udělat bohy? Žádní bohové to nejsou. 21 Proto hle, já jim dám poznat, tentokrát jim dám poznat svou moc a bohatýrskou sílu, poznají, že moje jméno je Hospodin.“
1The word of the Lord came to me:2“You shall not take a wife, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place.3For thus says the Lord concerning the sons and daughters who are born in this place, and concerning the mothers who bore them and the fathers who fathered them in this land:4They shall die of deadly diseases. (Lv 19,28; Dt 14,1; Jb 1,20; Iz 3,24; Jr 16,4)7No one shall break bread for the mourner, to comfort him for the dead, nor shall anyone give him the cup of consolation to drink for his father or his mother. (Dt 26,14; Iz 58,7; Ez 24,17; Oz 9,4)8You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and drink.9For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will silence in this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. (Jr 7,34)10“And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, ‘Why has the Lord pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?’ (Jr 5,19)11then you shall say to them: ‘Because your fathers have forsaken me, declares the Lord, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, (Dt 29,25; 2Kr 22,17; 2Pa 34,25; Jr 5,19; Jr 13,10; Jr 22,9)12and because you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his stubborn, evil will, refusing to listen to me. The Lord Will Restore Israel
14“Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when it shall no longer be said, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ (Jr 4,2; Jr 23,7)15but ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ For I will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers. (Iz 43,5; Jr 3,18; Jr 16,14; Jr 24,6; Jr 30,3; Jr 32,37)16“Behold, I am sending for many fishers, declares the Lord, and they shall catch them. And afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks. (Jr 13,4; Ez 12,13; Am 4,2; Abk 1,15)17For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes. (2Pa 16,9; Jb 34,21; Ž 51,9; Ž 90,8; Př 5,21; Jr 32,19)18But first I will doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.” (Iz 40,2; Iz 65,4; Jr 17,18; Ez 43,7)19O Lord, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit. (2S 22,33; Ž 28,7; Ž 31,3; Iz 9,2; Iz 25,4; Iz 49,6; Iz 49,22; Jr 17,17; Jr 18,15)20Can man make for himself gods? Such are not gods!” (Jr 2,11; 1K 8,4)21“Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the Lord.” (Jr 33,2)
