EDÓM A SIJÓN - — Velké krveprolití v Edómu - Na Edóm, stižený klatbou, dolehne Boží soud.
1 Přistupte, pronárody, a slyšte, národy, pozorně poslouchejte! Ať to slyší země se vším, co je na ní, svět i vše, co na něm vzchází! 2 Hospodin je rozlícen na všechny pronárody, rozhořčen na všechny jejich zástupy. Zničí je jako klaté, vydá je na porážku. 3 Jejich skolení budou pohozeni, bude se táhnout puch z jejich mrtvol, hory se rozplynou v jejich krvi. 4 Rozkladu propadne všechen nebeský zástup: nebesa se svinou jako kniha a všechen jejich zástup bude padat, jako opadává listí z vinné révy a padavče z fíkovníku. 5 Můj meč na nebi je zpit hněvem. Hle, sestupuje vykonat soud nad Edómem, nad lidem, nad nímž jsem vyhlásil klatbu. 6 Hospodinův meč je samá krev a od tuku je mastný, je od krve jehněčí a kozlí, od tuku z beraních ledvin. Neboť Hospodin má obětní hod v Bosře, v zemi edómské veliké obětní porážení. 7 Klesnou zároveň jednorožci i býci a tuři, jejich země bude zpita krví, jejich prach nasákne tukem. 8 Je to den Hospodinovy pomsty, rok odplaty v soudní při Sijónu.
— Zpustošení země - Země, která nechtěla uctívat Hospodina, bude dána v plen různým škůdcům.
9 Potoky Edómu se změní v smůlu a jeho prach v síru, jeho země se stane hořící smolou. 10 Nevyhasne v noci ani ve dne, kouř z ní bude stoupat věčně. Po všechna pokolení zůstane v troskách, nikdo už nikdy skrze ni neprojde. 11 Obsadí ji sova a sýček, výr a krkavec v ní budou bydlet. Bude nad ní natažena měřicí šňůra pustoty a spuštěna olovnice prázdnoty. 12 Její šlechtici tam nebudou povoláváni ke královské hodnosti, všichni její velmožové nebudou ničím. 13 V jejích palácích poroste hloží, na jejích pevnostech bodláčí a trní. Budou tam nivy šakalů a tráva pro pštrosy. 14 Bude se tam setkávat divá sběř s hyenami a běsové budou na sebe pokřikovat. Bude si tam hovět upír a najde si odpočinek. 15 Uhnízdí se tam zmije šípová a naklade vejce, když se háďata vylíhnou, bude je chovat ve svém stínu. Také supi se tam shromáždí, sup vedle supa. 16 Hledejte v knize Hospodinově a čtěte: „Jediná z těch příšer tam nebude chybět, ani jedna z nich nebude scházet, neboť ústa Boží to přikázala a jeho duch je shromáždí.“ 17 On sám tento los jim nechal padnout, jeho ruka jim měřicí šňůrou přidělila tuto zemi. Obsadí ji navěky, budou v ní bydlet po všechna pokolení.

(Iz 34,2; Iz 63,1; Jr 49,7; Abd 1,1; Mal 1,2)6The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood; it is gorged with fat, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, a great slaughter in the land of Edom. (Iz 63,1)7Wild oxen shall fall with them, and young steers with the mighty bulls. Their land shall drink its fill of blood, and their soil shall be gorged with fat. (Nu 23,22; Ž 22,12; Iz 47,1)8For the Lord has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion. (Ž 137,7; Iz 61,2; Iz 63,4)9And the streams of Edom[2] shall be turned into pitch, and her soil into sulfur; her land shall become burning pitch. (Dt 29,23)10Night and day it shall not be quenched; its smoke shall go up forever. From generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it forever and ever. (Iz 66,24; Mal 1,4; Zj 14,11; Zj 18,18; Zj 19,3)11But the hawk and the porcupine[3] shall possess it, the owl and the raven shall dwell in it. He shall stretch the line of confusion[4] over it, and the plumb line of emptiness. (2Kr 21,13; Iz 14,23; Iz 24,10; Pl 2,8; Am 7,7; Sf 2,14; Zj 18,2)12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom, and all its princes shall be nothing.13Thorns shall grow over its strongholds, nettles and thistles in its fortresses. It shall be the haunt of jackals, an abode for ostriches.[5] (Ž 44,19; Iz 13,22; Iz 32,13; Mal 1,3)14And wild animals shall meet with hyenas; the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; indeed, there the night bird[6] settles and finds for herself a resting place. (Iz 13,21)15There the owl nests and lays and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow; indeed, there the hawks are gathered, each one with her mate. (Dt 14,13)16Seek and read from the book of the Lord: Not one of these shall be missing; none shall be without her mate. For the mouth of the Lord has commanded, and his Spirit has gathered them.17He has cast the lot for them; his hand has portioned it out to them with the line; they shall possess it forever; from generation to generation they shall dwell in it.
