— Obnova smlouvy - Mojžíš znovu vystoupí na horu, kde se mu zjeví Hospodin. Po zapsání Zákona na nové desky se vrací k lidu.

1 Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Vytesej si dvě kamenné desky jako ty první, já na ty desky napíšu slova, která byla na prvních deskách, jež jsi roztříštil. 2 Připrav se na ráno; vystoupíš zrána na horu Sínaj a postavíš se tam na vrcholku hory ke mně. 3 Nikdo s tebou nevystoupí, a též ať se na celé hoře nikdo neukáže, ani brav nebo skot ať se nepase poblíž té hory.“ 4 Mojžíš tedy vytesal dvě kamenné desky, jako ty první. Za časného jitra vystoupil na horu Sínaj, jak mu Hospodin přikázal, a do rukou vzal obě kamenné desky. 5 Tu sestoupil Hospodin v oblaku. Mojžíš tam zůstal stát s ním a vzýval Hospodinovo jméno. 6 Když Hospodin kolem něho přecházel, zavolal: „Hospodin, Hospodin! Bůh plný slitování a milostivý, shovívavý, nejvýš milosrdný a věrný, 7 který osvědčuje milosrdenství tisícům pokolení, který odpouští vinu, přestoupení a hřích; avšak viníka nenechává bez trestu, stíhá vinu otců na synech i na vnucích do třetího a čtvrtého pokolení.“ 8 Mojžíš rychle padl na kolena tváří k zemi, klaněl se 9 a řekl: „Jestliže jsem, Panovníku, nalezl u tebe milost, putuj prosím, Panovníku, uprostřed nás. Je to lid tvrdošíjný; promiň nám však vinu a hřích a přijmi nás jako dědictví.“ 10 Hospodin odpověděl: „Hle, uzavírám s vámi smlouvu. Před veškerým tvým lidem učiním podivuhodné věci, jaké nebyly stvořeny na celé zemi ani mezi všemi pronárody. Všechen lid, uprostřed něhož jsi, uvidí Hospodinovo dílo; neboť to, co já s tebou učiním, bude vzbuzovat bázeň. 11 Bedlivě dbej na to, co ti dnes přikazuji. Hle, vypudím před tebou Emorejce, Kenaance, Chetejce, Perizejce, Chivejce a Jebúsejce. 12 Dej si pozor, abys neuzavíral smlouvu s obyvateli té země, do které vejdeš, aby se nestali uprostřed tebe léčkou. 13 Proto jejich oltáře poboříte, jejich posvátné sloupy roztříštíte a jejich posvátné kůly pokácíte. 14 Nebudeš se klanět jinému bohu, protože Hospodin, jehož jméno je Žárlivý, je Bůh žárlivě milující. 15 Neuzavřeš smlouvu s obyvateli té země. Budou se svými bohy smilnit a svým bohům obětovat a tebe pozvou, abys jedl z jejich obětního hodu; 16 a ty budeš brát z jejich dcer manželky pro své syny a jejich dcery budou se svými bohy smilnit a svádět tvé syny, aby smilnili s jejich bohy. 17 Nebudeš si odlévat sochy bohů. 18 Budeš dbát na slavnost nekvašených chlebů. Sedm dní budeš jíst nekvašené chleby, jak jsem ti přikázal, ve stanovený čas v měsíci ábíbu; neboť v měsíci ábíbu jsi vyšel z Egypta. 19 Všechno, co otvírá lůno, bude patřit mně, i každý samec z prvého vrhu tvého stáda, skotu i bravu. 20 Osla, který se narodil jako první, vyplatíš ovcí; jestliže jej nevyplatíš, zlomíš mu vaz. Vyplatíš každého svého prvorozeného syna. Nikdo se neukáže před mou tváří s prázdnou. 21 Šest dní budeš pracovat, ale sedmého dne odpočineš; i při orbě a při žni odpočineš. 22 Budeš slavit slavnost týdnů, prvních snopků pšeničné žně, a slavnost sklizně na přelomu roku. 23 Třikrát v roce se každý z vás, kdo je mužského pohlaví, ukáže před Pánem Hospodinem, Bohem Izraele. 24 Vyženu před tebou pronárody a rozšířím tvé pomezí. Nikdo nebude žádostiv tvé země, když se půjdeš třikrát v roce ukázat před Hospodinem, svým Bohem. 25 Nebudeš porážet dobytče tak, aby krev mého obětního hodu vytekla na něco kvašeného. Nebudeš přechovávat přes noc do rána nic z oběti při slavnosti hodu beránka. 26 Prvotiny raných plodů své role přineseš do domu Hospodina, svého Boha. Nebudeš vařit kůzle v mléku jeho matky.“ 27 Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Napiš si tato slova, neboť podle těchto slov uzavírám s tebou a s Izraelem smlouvu.“ 28 A byl tam s Hospodinem čtyřicet dní a čtyřicet nocí; chleba nepojedl a vody se nenapil, nýbrž psal na desky slova smlouvy, desatero přikázání. 29 Když pak Mojžíš sestupoval z hory Sínaje, měl při sestupu z hory desky svědectví v rukou. Mojžíš nevěděl, že mu od rozhovoru s Hospodinem září kůže na tváři. 30 Když Áron a všichni Izraelci uviděli, jak Mojžíšovi září kůže na tváři, báli se k němu přistoupit. 31 Ale Mojžíš je zavolal, i vrátili se k němu Áron a všichni předáci pospolitosti a Mojžíš k nim promluvil. 32 Potom přistoupili všichni Izraelci a on jim přikázal všechno, o čem s ním Hospodin mluvil na hoře Sínaji. 33 Když k nim Mojžíš přestal mluvit, dal si na tvář závoj. 34 Kdykoli Mojžíš vstupoval před Hospodina, aby s ním mluvil, odkládal závoj, dokud nevyšel. Pak vycházel, aby k Izraelcům mluvil, co mu bylo přikázáno. 35 Izraelci spatřili Mojžíšovu tvář a viděli, jak mu kůže na tváři září. Proto si Mojžíš dával na tvář závoj, pokud nešel mluvit s Hospodinem.

Moses Makes New Tablets

1 The Lord said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. (Ex 32,19; Ex 34,28; Dt 10,1; Dt 10,2; Dt 10,4)

2 Be ready by the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain. (Ex 19,20) 3 No one shall come up with you, and let no one be seen throughout all the mountain. Let no flocks or herds graze opposite that mountain.” (Ex 19,12; Ex 19,21) 4 So Moses cut two tablets of stone like the first. And he rose early in the morning and went up on Mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him, and took in his hand two tablets of stone. 5 The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. 8 And Moses quickly bowed his head toward the earth and worshiped. The Covenant Renewed

10 And he said, “Behold, I am making a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been created in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people among whom you are shall see the work of the Lord, for it is an awesome thing that I will do with you. 11 “Observe what I command you this day. Behold, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 18 “You shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread. 25 “You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with anything leavened, or let the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover remain until the morning. (Ex 12,8; Ex 12,10) 26 The best of the firstfruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. The Shining Face of Moses

29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.^[4] (Ex 32,15; Mt 17,2; 2K 3,7) 30 Aaron and all the people of Israel saw Moses, and behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. (Ex 34,29) 31 But Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the congregation returned to him, and Moses talked with them. 32 Afterward all the people of Israel came near, and he commanded them all that the Lord had spoken with him in Mount Sinai. (Ex 24,3) 33 And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face. (2K 3,13) 34 Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would remove the veil, until he came out. And when he came out and told the people of Israel what he was commanded, (2K 3,16) 35 the people of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face was shining. And Moses would put the veil over his face again, until he went in to speak with him. (Ex 34,29)
