— Ohlášení poslední pohromy - Mojžíš ohlašuje Izraelcům brzké vysvobození a faraónovi smrt všeho prvorozeného v Egyptě.
1 Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Ještě jednu ránu uvedu na faraóna a na Egypt. Potom vás odtud propustí, nadobro vyhostí, přímo vás odtud vyžene.2 Vybídni lid, ať si vyžádá každý muž od svého souseda a každá žena od své sousedky stříbrné a zlaté šperky.“3 A Hospodin zjednal lidu v očích Egypťanů přízeň. Také sám Mojžíš platil v egyptské zemi za velice významného v očích faraónových služebníků i v očích lidu. 4 Mojžíš řekl faraónovi: „Toto praví Hospodin: O půlnoci projdu Egyptem.5 Všichni prvorození v egyptské zemi zemřou, od prvorozeného syna faraónova, který sedí na jeho trůnu, po prvorozeného syna otrokyně, která mele na mlýnku, i všechno prvorozené z dobytka.6 Po celé egyptské zemi se bude rozléhat veliký křik, jakého nebylo a už nebude.7 Ale na žádného Izraelce ani pes nezavrčí, ani na člověka ani na dobytče, abyste poznali, že Hospodin podivuhodně rozlišuje mezi Egyptem a Izraelem.8 Všichni tito tvoji služebníci sestoupí ke mně, budou se mi klanět a říkat: Odejdi ty i všechen lid, který jde za tebou! Teprve potom odejdu.“ Nato Mojžíš, planoucí hněvem, od faraóna odešel. 9 Hospodin řekl Mojžíšovi: „Farao vás neposlechne, a tak mých zázraků v egyptské zemi ještě přibude.“10 Mojžíš a Áron všechny ty zázraky před faraónem učinili, ale Hospodin zatvrdil faraónovo srdce, takže Izraelce ze své země nepropustil.
1The Lord said to Moses, “Yet one plague more I will bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt. Afterward he will let you go from here. When he lets you go, he will drive you away completely. (Ex 4,23; Ex 12,31; Ex 12,33; Ex 12,39)2Speak now in the hearing of the people, that they ask, every man of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, for silver and gold jewelry.” (Ex 3,22; Ex 12,35)3And the Lord gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people. (Ex 3,21; Ex 12,36)4So Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out in the midst of Egypt, (Ex 12,29; Jb 34,20; Am 4,10)5and every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the cattle. (Mt 24,41; L 17,35)6There shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever will be again. (Ex 12,30; Am 5,16)7But not a dog shall growl against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’ (Ex 8,22; Ex 9,4)8And all these your servants shall come down to me and bow down to me, saying, ‘Get out, you and all the people who follow you.’ And after that I will go out.” And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger. (Ex 12,33)9Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh will not listen to you, that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.” (Ex 3,19; Ex 7,3; Ex 7,4; Ex 10,1)10Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh, and the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land. (Ex 4,21)
