The Birth of Jesus Christ
18Now the birth of Jesus Christ[5] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed[6] to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. (太1:1; 太1:16; 可1:1; 路1:27; 路1:35; 约1:17; 约17:3)19And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. (申24:1)20But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (太2:12; 太2:13; 太2:19; 太2:22)21She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (太1:25; 路1:31; 路2:11; 路2:21; 徒3:26; 徒4:12; 徒5:31; 徒13:23; 徒13:38)22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: (太2:15; 太2:23; 太4:14; 太21:4; 太26:56; 可14:49; 约19:36)23“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). (赛7:14; 赛8:8; 赛8:10; 太28:20)24When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife,25but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus. (太1:21)
