1“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. (耶2:21; 林前3:9)2Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. (约3:15; 约6:56; 约15:5; 腓1:11; 西1:23; 约一2:6)5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (约15:16; 羅6:5; 西1:6; 西1:10)6If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. (结15:4; 太13:40; 约15:2)7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. (约13:34)13Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (约10:11; 羅5:7; 弗5:2)14You are my friends if you do what I command you. (太12:50; 路12:4; 约15:10)15No longer do I call you servants,[1] for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. The Hatred of the World
18“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. (约7:7; 约15:23; 约一3:13)19If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (路6:26; 约17:14; 约17:16; 加1:4; 雅4:4; 约一4:5)20Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. (结3:7; 太10:24; 约8:51; 约13:16; 约15:15; 约16:33; 林前4:12; 林后4:9; 帖前2:15; 提后3:12)21But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. (太10:22; 太24:9; 约16:3; 徒3:17; 徒5:41; 彼前4:14; 彼前4:16; 启2:3)22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin,[2] but now they have no excuse for their sin. (太11:22; 太11:24; 路12:47; 约9:41)23Whoever hates me hates my Father also. (约5:23)24If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. (太9:33; 约3:2; 约7:31; 约9:32; 约10:32; 约10:37; 约14:9; 约15:22)25But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’ (诗35:19; 诗69:4; 约10:34; 约12:38)26“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.
