1Иисус им показа с притча, че трябва винаги да се молят и да не падат духом,2като рече: „В един град имаше съдия, който нито от Бога се боеше, нито от човек се срамуваше. (Лк 11:5)3В същия град имаше една вдовица. Тя все идваше при него и казваше: „Защити ме от моя противник!“4Той дълго време не искаше, но после си рече: „Макар и от Бога да не се боя, и от човек да не се срамувам,5понеже тази вдовица ми досажда, ще я защитя. Иначе постоянно ще идва да ме безпокои“.“6Тогава Господ рече: „Чуйте какво казва този неправеден съдия!7А нима Бог ще се забави да защити избраниците Си, които викат към Него денем и нощем?8Казвам ви, ще ги защити много скоро! Но когато дойде Синът човешки, ще намери ли вяра на земята?“
Притча за митаря и фарисея
9На онези пък, които бяха уверени в себе си, че са праведни, и презираха другите, каза следната притча:10„Двама човека влязоха в храма да се помолят: единият фарисей, а другият митар.11Фарисеят застана и се молеше така в себе си: „Боже, благодаря Ти, че не съм като другите хора – грабители, неправедници, прелюбодейци, или като този митар,12постя два пъти в седмицата, давам десятък от всичко, което придобивам.“ (Лк 5:33; Лк 11:42)13А митарят стоеше назад. Той не смееше дори да повдигне очи към небето, а се удряше в гърдите и казваше: „Боже, бъди милостив към мене, грешника!“14Казвам ви, че този си отиде у дома оправдан повече, отколкото онзи. Защото всеки, който превъзнася себе си, ще бъде унизен, а който се смирява, ще бъди въздигнат.“ (Мт 23:12; Лк 14:11; 1 Пет 5:6)
Иисус Христос благославя децата
15Донасяха при Него и деца, за да положи ръка върху тях. Но учениците, като видяха това, ги възпираха. (Мт 18:3; Мт 19:13; Мк 10:13)16Тогава Иисус повика децата и рече: „Оставете децата да идват при Мене и не им пречете. Защото на такива е Божието царство.17Истината ви казвам: който не приеме Божието царство като дете, няма да влезе в него.“
За опасностите от богатството
18Някакъв началник Го попита: „Учителю благ, какво да извърша, за да наследя вечен живот?“ (Мт 19:16; Мк 10:17; Лк 10:25)19Иисус му рече: „Защо ме наричаш благ? Никой не е благ освен един Бог.20Знаеш заповедите: не прелюбодействай, не убивай, не кради, не свидетелствай лъжливо, почитай баща си и майка си.“ (Изх 20:12; Вт 5:16)21А той отговори: „Всичко това съм спазвал от младини.“22Като чу това, Иисус му каза: „Още едно не ти достига. Всичко, което имаш, продай и раздай на сиромаси, и ще имаш съкровище на небето. Тогава ела и върви след Мене.“ (Лк 12:33; Д А 2:45; Д А 4:34)23А той, като чу това, натъжи се, защото беше твърде богат.24Като видя, че той се натъжи, Иисус рече: „Колко мъчно ще влязат в Божието царство онези, които имат богатство!25Защото по-лесно е камила да мине през иглени уши, отколкото богат да влезе в Божието царство.“26Като чуха това, рекоха: „А кой може да се спаси?“27Иисус отговори: „Невъзможното за хората е възможно за Бога.“28Тогава Петър каза: „Ето ние оставихме всичко и Те последвахме.“29А Той им рече: „Истината ви казвам: няма никой, който е оставил къща, родители, братя, сестри, жена или деца заради Божието царство (Лк 14:26)30и да не получи много повече в днешно време, а в идващия век – вечен живот.“
Трето предсказание за страданията и възкресението
31И като повика при Себе Си дванадесетте ученици, Иисус им рече: „Ето отиваме в Йерусалим и ще се изпълни всичко, писано чрез пророците за Сина човешки. (Мт 20:17; Мк 10:32; Лк 9:51; Лк 13:22; Лк 19:28)32Защото ще Го предадат на езичниците, ще Го поругаят, ще Го оскърбят и оплюят, (Лк 9:22; Лк 9:44; Лк 17:25; Лк 24:7; Лк 24:26; Лк 24:46)33ще Го бичуват и убият. И на третия ден ще възкръсне.“34Но от това те нищо не разбраха. Тези думи бяха неясни за тях и те не знаеха за какво им говори.
Излекуване на слепия в Йерихон
35Когато Иисус се приближаваше към Йерихон, един слепец седеше край пътя и просеше. (Мт 20:29; Мк 10:46)36И като чу да минава край него народ, той попита какво е това.37Казаха му, че Иисус от Назарет минава.38Тогава той извика: „Иисусе, Сине Давидов, смили се над мене!“39Тези, които вървяха напред, го смъмриха да мълчи, но той още по-силно завика: „Сине Давидов, смили се над мене!“40Иисус се спря и заповяда да го доведат при Него. 1Jesus told his disciples a story. He wanted to show them that they should always pray and not give up.2He said, ‘In a certain town there was a judge. He didn’t have any respect for God or care about what people thought.3A widow lived in that town. She came to the judge again and again. She kept begging him, “Make things right for me. Someone is treating me badly.”4‘For some time the judge refused. But finally he said to himself, “I don’t have any respect for God. I don’t care about what people think.5But this widow keeps bothering me. So I will see that things are made right for her. If I don’t, she will someday come and attack me!” ’6The Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unfair judge says.7God’s chosen people cry out to him day and night. Won’t he make things right for them? Will he keep putting them off?8I tell you, God will see that things are made right for them. He will make sure it happens quickly. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find people on earth who have faith?’
The story of the Pharisee and the tax collector
9Jesus told a story to some people who were sure they were right with God. They looked down on everyone else.10He said to them, ‘Two men went up to the temple to pray. One was a Pharisee. The other was a tax collector.11The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed. “God, I thank you that I am not like other people,” he said. “I am not like robbers or those who do other evil things. I am not like those who commit adultery. I am not even like this tax collector.12I fast twice a week. And I give a tenth of all I get.”13‘But the tax collector stood further away than the Pharisee. He would not even look up to heaven. He brought his hand to his heart and prayed. He said, “God, have mercy on me. I am a sinner.”14‘I tell you, the tax collector went home accepted by God. But not the Pharisee. All those who lift themselves up will be made humble. And those who make themselves humble will be lifted up.’
Little children are brought to Jesus
15People were also bringing babies to Jesus. They wanted him to place his hands on the babies. When the disciples saw this, they told the people to stop.16But Jesus asked the children to come to him. ‘Let the little children come to me,’ he said. ‘Don’t keep them away. God’s kingdom belongs to people like them.17What I’m about to tell you is true. Anyone who will not receive God’s kingdom like a little child will never enter it.’
Rich people and the kingdom of God
18A certain ruler asked Jesus a question. ‘Good teacher’, he said, ‘what must I do to receive eternal life?’19‘Why do you call me good?’ Jesus answered. ‘No one is good except God.20You know what the commandments say. “Do not commit adultery. Do not commit murder. Do not steal. Do not be a false witness. Honour your father and mother.” ’ (Изх 20:12; Вт 5:16)21‘I have obeyed all those commandments since I was a boy,’ the ruler said.22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, ‘You are still missing one thing. Sell everything you have. Give the money to those who are poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me.’23When the ruler heard this, he became very sad. He was very rich.24Jesus looked at him. Then he said, ‘How hard it is for rich people to enter God’s kingdom!25Is it hard for a camel to go through the eye of a needle? It is even harder for someone who is rich to enter God’s kingdom!’26Those who heard this asked, ‘Then who can be saved?’27Jesus replied, ‘Things that are impossible with people are possible with God.’28Peter said to him, ‘We have left everything we had in order to follow you!’29‘What I’m about to tell you is true,’ Jesus said to them. ‘Has anyone left home or wife or husband or brothers or sisters or parents or children for God’s kingdom?30They will receive many times as much in this world. In the world to come they will receive eternal life.’
Jesus speaks a third time about his coming death
31Jesus took the 12 disciples to one side. He told them, ‘We are going up to Jerusalem. Everything that the prophets wrote about the Son of Man will come true.32He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will make fun of him. They will laugh at him and spit on him.33They will whip him and kill him. On the third day, he will rise from the dead!’34The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them. So they didn’t know what Jesus was talking about.
A blind beggar receives his sight
35Jesus was approaching Jericho. A blind man was sitting by the side of the road begging.36The blind man heard the crowd going by. He asked what was happening.37They told him, ‘Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.’38So the blind man called out, ‘Jesus! Son of David! Have mercy on me!’39Those who led the way commanded him to stop. They told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, ‘Son of David! Have mercy on me!’40Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When the man came near, Jesus spoke to him.41‘What do you want me to do for you?’ Jesus asked. ‘Lord, I want to be able to see,’ the blind man replied.42Jesus said to him, ‘Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.’43Right away he could see. He followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.
