1Ahora, pues, ninguna condenación hay para los que están en Jesús el Mesías,2porque la ley del Espíritu de vida en Jesús el Mesías te ha librado de la ley del pecado y de la muerte.3Porque lo que no pudo hacer la ley, ya que era débil por causa de la carne, lo hizo Dios enviando a su propio Hijo en semejanza de nuestra carne pecaminosa, y por el pecado, condenó al pecado en la carne,4para que la exigencia de la ley fuera cumplida en nosotros, que no andamos conforme a la carne, sino conforme al espíritu.5Porque los que viven según la carne, tienen la mente en las cosas de la carne, pero los que viven según el espíritu, en las cosas del Espíritu.6Porque la manera de pensar de la carne es muerte, pero la manera de pensar del espíritu, es vida y paz;7porque la manera de pensar de la carne es enemistad contra Dios, pues no se sujeta a la ley de Dios, porque tampoco puede.8Así que, los que están en la carne no pueden agradar a Dios.9Pero vosotros no estáis en la carne, sino en el espíritu, por cuanto el Espíritu de Dios vive en vosotros. Y si alguno no tiene el Espíritu del Mesías, éste no es de Él.10Pero si el Mesías está en vosotros, el cuerpo a la verdad está muerto a causa del pecado, pero el espíritu vivo a causa de la justicia.11Y si el Espíritu del que levantó de los muertos a Jesús vive en vosotros, el que levantó al Mesías de los muertos vivificará también vuestros cuerpos mortales por su Espíritu que vive en vosotros.12Así que entonces, hermanos, somos deudores, no a la carne, para vivir conforme a la carne.13Porque si vivís conforme a la carne, estáis a punto de morir; pero si por el espíritu hacéis morir las obras de la carne, viviréis.14Porque todos los que son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios, éstos son hijos de Dios.15Porque no recibisteis espíritu de esclavitud para estar otra vez en temor; sino que recibisteis el Espíritu de adopción, por el cual clamamos: ¡Abba! (¡Padre!)16El Espíritu mismo da testimonio con nuestro espíritu, de que somos hijos de Dios.17Y si hijos, también herederos: por una parte, herederos de Dios, y por la otra, coherederos con el Mesías, ya que juntamente padecemos para que juntamente seamos glorificados.
La gloria venidera
18Pues considero que los sufrimientos del tiempo presente no son dignos de ser comparados con la gloria venidera que va a ser revelada en nosotros.19Porque el profundo anhelo de la creación espera la revelación de los hijos de Dios.20Porque la creación fue sometida a vanidad, no por su propia voluntad, sino por la del que la sujetó; en esperanza21de que también la creación misma será liberada de la esclavitud de corrupción a la libertad gloriosa de los hijos de Dios.22Porque sabemos que toda la creación gime a una, y a una sufre dolores de parto hasta ahora.23Y no sólo ella, sino también nosotros mismos, que tenemos las primicias del Espíritu, nosotros también gemimos dentro de nosotros mismos, esperando ansiosamente la adopción, la redención de nuestro cuerpo.24Porque en esperanza fuimos salvos, pero la esperanza que se ve, no es esperanza, porque ¿para qué esperanzarse en lo que alguno ve?25Pero si esperamos lo que no vemos, con paciencia lo esperamos ansiosamente.26Y asimismo, también el Espíritu ayuda nuestra debilidad, pues no sabemos qué orar como conviene, pero el mismo Espíritu intercede con gemidos indecibles;27y el que escudriña los corazones sabe cuál es la intención del Espíritu, porque intercede por los santos conforme a Dios.
El plan de salvación
28Y sabemos que a los que aman a Dios, todas las cosas ayudan para bien, a los que son llamados conforme a su propósito.29Porque a los que antes escogió, también los predestinó a ser de la misma forma de la imagen de su Hijo, para que Él sea primogénito entre muchos hermanos;30y a los que predestinó, a éstos también llamó; y a los que llamó, a éstos también declaró justos; y a los que declaró justos, a éstos también glorificó.
Completamente victoriosos
31¿Qué, pues, diremos a estas cosas? Si Dios está a favor de nosotros, ¿quién contra nosotros?32El que no escatimó ni a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó por todos nosotros, ¿cómo no nos dará gratuitamente también con Él todas las cosas?33¿Quién encausará a los escogidos de Dios? ¿Dios, el que justifica?34¿Quién es el que condenará? ¿el Mesías, el que murió? Más aun, Él es quien fue resucitado, el cual también está a la diestra de Dios, el cual también intercede por nosotros.35¿Qué nos separará del amor del Mesías? ¿Tribulación, o angustia, o persecución, o hambruna, o desnudez, o peligro o espada?36Como está escrito: Por causa de ti somos muertos todo el tiempo; Somos estimados como ovejas de matadero.37Al contrario, en todas estas cosas somos más que victoriosos por medio del que nos amó.38Porque he sido persuadido de que ni la muerte ni la vida, ni ángeles ni gobernantes, ni lo presente, ni lo por venir, ni las potestades,39ni lo alto, ni lo bajo, ni ninguna otra cosa creada podrá separarnos del amor de Dios, que es en Jesús el Mesías, Señor nuestro.
1There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.[1]2For the law of the Spirit of life has set you[2] free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin,[3] he condemned sin in the flesh, (Lv 16:5; Jn 1:14; Hch 13:39; 2 Co 5:21; Gl 4:9; Flp 2:7; Heb 7:18; Heb 10:1; Heb 10:6; Heb 10:8; Heb 10:10; Heb 10:14; Heb 13:11)4in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. Heirs with Christ
12So then, brothers,[5] we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. (Ro 8:2)13For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. (Col 3:5)14For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons[6] of God. (Dt 14:1; Os 1:10; Jn 1:12; Ro 8:16; Ro 8:19; Ro 9:8; Ro 9:26; Gl 5:18)15For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Is 56:5; Jer 31:9; Mr 14:36; Ro 8:23; Ro 9:4; 1 Co 2:12; Gl 2:4; Gl 4:5; Gl 4:6; 2 Ti 1:7; Heb 2:15; 1 Jn 4:18)16The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (2 Co 1:22; 2 Co 5:5; Ef 1:13; 1 Jn 3:24)17and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. (Hch 14:22; 2 Co 1:7; Gl 3:29; Gl 4:7; 2 Ti 2:12; Tit 3:7)
Future Glory
18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. (2 Co 4:17; 1 P 1:5)19For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. (Ro 2:7; 1 P 4:13; 1 P 5:1; 1 Jn 3:2)20For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope (Gn 3:17; Gn 3:18; Ec 1:2)21that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. (Hch 3:21)22For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. (Jer 12:4; Jer 12:11; Mr 16:15)23And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. (Is 25:9; Lc 21:28; Ro 7:24; Ro 8:19; Ro 8:25; 2 Co 5:2; 2 Co 5:4; 2 Co 5:5; Gl 5:5; Stg 1:18)24For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? (2 Co 4:18; 1 Ts 1:3; 1 Ts 5:8; Heb 11:1)25But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. (1 Ts 1:3; 1 Ts 5:8)26Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Zac 12:10; Mt 20:22; Jn 14:16; Ef 6:18; Stg 4:3)27And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because[7] the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (1 S 16:7; 1 Cr 28:9; Pr 15:11; Pr 17:3; Jer 11:20; Jer 17:10; Lc 16:15; Ro 8:6; Ro 8:34; 1 Ts 2:4; 1 Jn 5:14)28And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[8] for those who are called according to his purpose. (Esd 8:22; Ec 8:12; Ro 9:24; 1 Co 1:9; 1 Co 7:15; 1 Co 7:17; Gl 1:15; Gl 5:8; Ef 4:1; Ef 4:4; 2 Ti 1:9)29For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. (Ro 9:23; Ro 11:2; 1 Co 2:7; 1 Co 15:49; Ef 1:5; Ef 1:11; Flp 3:21; Col 1:15; Col 1:18; Col 3:10; Heb 1:6; 1 P 1:2; 1 Jn 3:2; Ap 1:5)30And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. (Jn 17:22; 1 Co 6:11; Heb 2:10)
God’s Everlasting Love
31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be[9] against us? (Nm 14:9; 2 R 6:16; Sal 118:6; 1 Jn 4:4)32He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Jn 3:16; Ro 4:25)33Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. (Is 50:8; Ap 12:10)34Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.[10] (Mr 16:19; Ro 8:1; Ro 8:27; Heb 7:25; 1 Jn 2:1)35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?36As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” (Sal 44:22; Hch 20:24; 1 Co 4:9; 1 Co 15:30; 2 Co 4:10)37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Jn 16:33; 1 Co 15:57; Gl 2:20; Ef 5:2; Ap 1:5; Ap 3:9)38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
