1 El hombre que, reprendido, endurece la cerviz, Será quebrantado de repente, y no habrá para él medicina. 2 Cuando abundan los justos, el pueblo se regocija, Cuando gobierna el impío, el pueblo gime. 3 El que ama la sabiduría, alegra a su padre, Pero el que se junta con rameras, disipa su fortuna. 4 Un rey justo hace estable el país, Pero el que lo carga de tributos lo destruye. 5 El hombre que adula a su prójimo, Le tiende una red a sus pasos. 6 La transgresión del malvado es su propia trampa, Mientras que el justo canta y se regocija. 7 Preocupa al justo la causa del pobre, Y el malvado no lo entiende. 8 Los escarnecedores agitan la ciudad, Pero los sabios aplacan la ira. 9 Si un sabio contiende con un necio, Se enoje éste o se ría, no habrá sosiego. 10 Los sanguinarios aborrecen al hombre íntegro, Los rectos se preocupan por él. 11 Desfoga el necio todas sus pasiones, Pero el sabio dentro de sí las aquieta. 12 El gobernante que hace caso de embustes, Tendrá criminales por ministros. 13 El oprimido y el opresor coinciden en esto: A los ojos de ambos dio vista YHVH. 14 El rey que juzga lealmente a los desvalidos, Afianzará su trono para siempre. 15 Palos y reprensiones meten en razón, Pero el muchacho consentido avergonzará a su madre. 16 Cuando los malvados mandan los crímenes aumentan, Pero los justos presenciarán su caída. 17 Corrige a tu hijo y te dará descanso, Y dará satisfacciones a tu alma. 18 Donde no hay visión profética, el pueblo se desenfrena, Pero, ¡cuán bienaventurado es el que guarda la Ley! 19 Sólo con palabras no escarmienta el siervo, Porque entiende, pero no hace caso. 20 ¿Has observado a un hombre precipitado al hablar? Pues más se puede esperar de un necio. 21 El consentido desde la niñez es un esclavo, Al final lo lamentará. 22 El hombre irascible levanta contiendas, Y el furioso abunda en transgresiones. 23 La soberbia del hombre lo humillará, Pero el de espíritu humilde recibirá honra. 24 El que se asocia a un ladrón aborrece su propia alma, Oye la maldición, pero no lo denuncia. 25 El que teme a los hombres caerá en el lazo, Pero el que confía en YHVH es inaccesible. 26 Muchos buscan el favor del que manda, Pero la sentencia para el hombre procede de YHVH. 27 El hombre inicuo es aborrecido por los justos, Y el de camino recto es aborrecido por los inicuos.

4 By justice a king builds up the land, but he who exacts gifts^[1] tears it down. (2 Cr 9:8; Pr 29:14) 5 A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet. 7 A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. (Job 29:16; Sal 41:1; Pr 28:27) 8 Scoffers set a city aflame, but the wise turn away wrath. 19 By mere words a servant is not disciplined, for though he understands, he will not respond. 20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.
