Cierto, la noche que asolaron Kir, sucumbió Moab.2La hija de Dibón sube a los lugares altos para llorar, Moab gime sobre el Nebo y sobre Medeba, En todas sus cabezas hay calvez, Y toda barba está rasurada.3En sus plazas se ciñen de saco, Sobre sus terrados y en sus calles todos lanzan alaridos, Desechos en llanto.4Se lamentan Hesbón y Eleale, Hasta Jahaza llega su clamor, Gimen los guerreros de Moab, Y el alma de cada uno desfallece dentro de sí.5Mi corazón clama por Moab; Sus fugitivos se extienden hasta Zoar, hasta Eglat. Por la cuesta de Luhit suben llorando, Por el camino de Horonaim lanzan gritos de quebranto,6Porque las aguas de Nimrim se han secado, La hierba está marchita, no hay verdor y se consume el pasto.7Por eso, las riquezas que han adquirido y han almacenado, Las llevan al Torrente de los Sauces;8Porque el llanto se ha extendido a los confines de Moab, Hasta Eglaim se oye su lamento, Hasta Beer-elim su clamor.9Porque las aguas de Dimón están llenas de sangre, Reservo nuevas plagas contra Dimón: El león contra el resto de Moab, Contra los que queden en el campo.
1An oracle concerning Moab. Because Ar of Moab is laid waste in a night, Moab is undone; because Kir of Moab is laid waste in a night, Moab is undone. On every head is baldness; every beard is shorn; (Nm 21:30; Dt 34:1; Is 3:24; Is 13:6)3in the streets they wear sackcloth; on the housetops and in the squares everyone wails and melts in tears.4Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; their voice is heard as far as Jahaz; therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; his soul trembles. (Nm 32:37; Jer 48:34)5My heart cries out for Moab; her fugitives flee to Zoar, to Eglath-shelishiyah. For at the ascent of Luhith they go up weeping; on the road to Horonaim they raise a cry of destruction; (Is 15:4; Jer 48:5)6the waters of Nimrim are a desolation; the grass is withered, the vegetation fails, the greenery is no more.
