1 Syng en ny sang for Herren om de underfulde ting, han har gjort. Han har vundet en vældig sejr ved sin egen guddommelige kraft. 2 Han har vist sin magt til at frelse, alle folkeslag har set hans retfærdige dom. 3 Han har vist sin trofasthed og nåde mod Israel, hele jorden har set, hvordan han frelste sit folk. 4 Bryd ud i lovsang til Gud, hele jorden, råb af fryd og syng af glæde. 5 Syng for Herren til harpeklang, lad lovsangen lyde til strengespil, 6 til trompeter og vædderhornets lyd, en vældig symfoni til Herren, vor konge. 7 Lad havet med alt dets liv stemme i, sammen med jorden og alle dens folk. 8 Lad floderne juble og klappe i hænderne, bjergene bryde ud i glædessang for Herren, 9 for han kommer og dømmer jorden. Han dømmer verden med retfærdighed, alle folkeslag får en fair behandling.

1 A Psalm. Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. (2.Mos 15,6; Job 40,14; Salm 33,3; Salm 72,18; Salm 96,3; Luk 1,51) 2 The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations. (Salm 96,2; Es 49,6; Es 52,10; Es 59,16; Es 62,2; Es 63,5; Luk 2,30; Rom 3,25) 3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. (Salm 22,27; Salm 36,5; Salm 98,2; Luk 1,54; Luk 1,72) 4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises! (Salm 66,1; Es 44,23) 5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody! (Es 51,3) 6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord! (4.Mos 10,10; 1.Krøn 15,24; 2.Krøn 15,14; Salm 98,4) 7 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who dwell in it! (Salm 24,1; Salm 96,11) 8 Let the rivers clap their hands; let the hills sing for joy together (Salm 89,12; Salm 93,3; Es 55,12) 9 before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity. (Salm 58,11; Salm 96,13)
