Hjælp mod fjenden

1 En sang af David. 

2 Jeg er fuld af tillid til dig, Gud, jeg vil synge og spille til din ære. 

3 Jeg vil gribe min harpe og lyre, når befrielsens sol står op. 

4 Jeg vil takke dig, Herre, blandt folkeslagene, jeg vil synge din pris for de fremmede. 

5 Din trofasthed fylder universet, din godhed når til skyerne. 

6 Herre, lad din storhed fylde himmelrummet, lad din herlighed komme over hele jorden. 

7 Hør min bøn og gør brug af din magt, så dit elskede folk kan blive reddet. 

8 Gud har talt fra sin helligdom: „Med glæde vil jeg udstykke Sikem, jeg vil udmåle Sukkots dal. 

9 Gilead tilhører mig, Manasse er min ejendom. Kongerne kommer fra Juda, og dygtige krigere fra Efraim. 

10 Moabitterne skal tjene mig og edomitterne være mine slaver. Jeg vinder sejr over filistrene.” 

11 Hvem tager med os til den befæstede by? Hvem vil gå med os mod Edom? 

12 Herre, har du forkastet os? Hvorfor drager du ikke med os i krig? 

13 Hjælp os dog mod vore fjender, for menneskers hjælp er intet værd. 

14 Med Guds hjælp vinder vi sejr, for han vil trampe vore fjender ned.

With God We Shall Do Valiantly

1 A Song. A Psalm of David. My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being! (Salm 57,7) 

2 Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awake the dawn! 

3 I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. 

4 For your steadfast love is great above the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. (Salm 113,4) 

5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth! 

6 That your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me! (Salm 60,5) 

7 God has promised in his holiness: “With exultation I will divide up Shechem and portion out the Valley of Succoth. 

8 Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. 

9 Moab is my washbasin; upon Edom I cast my shoe; over Philistia I shout in triumph.” (Salm 60,8) 

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? 

11 Have you not rejected us, O God? You do not go out, O God, with our armies. 

12 Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man! 

13 With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.
