Salme 10

Salme 10

English Standard Version

fra Crossway

Why Do You Hide Yourself?

1 Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? (Salm 9,9; Salm 13,1; Salm 22,1; Salm 22,11; Salm 22,19; Salm 35,22; Salm 38,21) 2 In arrogance the wicked hotly pursue the poor; let them be caught in the schemes that they have devised. (Salm 7,15) 3 For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses[1] and renounces the Lord. (Job 1,5; Job 1,11; Salm 10,13; Salm 94,4; Es 3,9) 4 In the pride of his face[2] the wicked does not seek him;[3] all his thoughts are, “There is no God.” (Salm 10,3; Salm 14,1; Salm 53,1) 5 His ways prosper at all times; your judgments are on high, out of his sight; as for all his foes, he puffs at them. (Salm 12,5; Es 26,11) 6 He says in his heart, “I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not meet adversity.” (Salm 10,11; Salm 10,13; Åb 18,7) 7 His mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity. (Job 20,12; Salm 5,5; Salm 6,8; Salm 7,14; Salm 36,3; Salm 55,11; Salm 72,14; Salm 140,3; Høj 4,11; Rom 3,14) 8 He sits in ambush in the villages; in hiding places he murders the innocent. His eyes stealthily watch for the helpless; (Salm 17,12; Salm 64,4; Hab 3,14) 9 he lurks in ambush like a lion in his thicket; he lurks that he may seize the poor; he seizes the poor when he draws him into his net. (Job 38,40; Salm 9,15; Salm 17,12; Salm 59,3; Mika 7,2) 10 The helpless are crushed, sink down, and fall by his might. 11 He says in his heart, “God has forgotten, he has hidden his face, he will never see it.” (Job 22,13; Salm 73,11; Salm 94,7; Ez 8,12; Ez 9,9; Zef 1,12) 12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand; forget not the afflicted. (Salm 3,7; Salm 9,12; Salm 9,18; Mika 5,9) 13 Why does the wicked renounce God and say in his heart, “You will not call to account”? (Salm 9,12; Salm 10,3) 14 But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation, that you may take it into your hands; to you the helpless commits himself; you have been the helper of the fatherless. (Salm 33,13; Salm 68,5; Salm 146,9; Hos 14,3; 2.Tim 1,12; 1.Pet 4,19) 15 Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer; call his wickedness to account till you find none. (Salm 37,17; Salm 37,36; Es 41,12) 16 The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from his land. (2.Mos 15,18; 5.Mos 8,20; Salm 29,10; Jer 10,10; Klag 5,19; Dan 4,34; Dan 6,26; 1.Tim 1,17; Åb 11,15) 17 O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear (1.Krøn 29,18) 18 to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more. (Salm 9,9; Salm 9,19; Salm 17,14; Salm 74,21; Salm 82,3; Es 1,17; Es 11,4)
