1 Nadto každý z mužů Izraelských přísahou se byli zavázali v Masfa, řkouce: Žádný z nás nedá dcery své Beniaminským za manželku. 2 Protož všel lid do domu Boha silného, a seděli tam až do večera před Bohem, a pozdvihše hlasu svého, plakali pláčem velikým. 3 A řekli: Proč Hospodine, Bože Izraelský, stalo se toto v Izraeli, aby dnes ubylo jedno pokolení z Izraele? 4 Nazejtří pak ráno vstal lid, a vzdělali tam oltář, a obětovali oběti zápalné a pokojné. 5 Řekli pak synové Izraelští: Jest-li kdo, ješto nepřišel do shromáždění tohoto ze všech pokolení Izraelských k Hospodinu? (Nebo se byli velice zapřisáhli proti tomu, kdož by nepřišel k Hospodinu do Masfa, řkouce: Bez milosti ať umře. 6 Nebo litujíce synové Izraelští Beniamina bratra svého, řekli: Dnes vyhlazeno jest jedno pokolení z Izraele. 7 Jakž tedy učiníme s těmi ostatky, aby ženy měli, poněvadž jsme se přísahou zavázali skrze Hospodina, že jim nedáme dcer svých za manželky?) 8 Řekli tedy: Jest-li kdo z pokolení Izraelských, ješto nepřišel k Hospodinu do Masfa? A aj, nepřišel byl žádný do vojska z Jábes Galád do shromáždění. 9 Nebo když sečten byl lid, a aj, nebylo tam žadného z obyvatelů Jábes Galád. 10 Protož poslalo tam shromáždění to dvanácte tisíc mužů nejsilnějších, a přikázali jim, řkouce: Jděte a pobíte obyvatele Jábes Galád ostrostí meče, ženy i děti. 11 Toto pak učiníte: Všecky mužského pohlaví, a každou ženu, kteráž muže poznala, zamordujete. 12 Nalezli tedy mezi obyvateli Jábes Galád čtyři sta děveček panen, kteréž nepoznaly muže, a přivedli je do vojska v Sílo, kteréž bylo v zemi Kananejské. 13 Tedy poslalo všecko to shromáždění, a mluvili k synům Beniamin, kteříž byli v skále Remmon, a povolali jich v pokoji. 14 Protož navrátili se Beniaminští toho času. I dali jim ženy, kteréž živé zachovali z žen Jábes Galád, ale ani tak se jim nedostávalo jich. 15 Lidu pak líto bylo Beniamina, proto že učinil Hospodin mezeru v pokoleních Izraelských. 16 Řekli tedy starší shromáždění toho: Jak učiníme s těmi pozůstalými, aby měli ženy? Nebo vyhlazeny jsou ženy z pokolení Beniamin. 17 Řekli také: Dědictví Beniaminovo pozůstalým náleží, aby nezahynulo pokolení z Izraele. 18 My pak nemůžeme jim dáti dcer svých za manželky; (nebo se byli přísahou zavázali synové Izraelští, řkouce: Zlořečený buď, kdož by dal manželku synům Beniamin.) 19 Potom řekli: Aj, slavnost Hospodinova bývá v Sílo každého roku na místě, kteréž jest s půlnoční strany domu Boha silného, k východu slunce cestě, kterouž se chodí od domu Boha silného do Sichem, a Lebnu jest na poledne. 20 Přikázali tedy synům Beniamin, řkouce: Jděte a skrejte se v vinicích. 21 A šetřte, a aj, když vyjdou dcery Sílo plésati v houfích, tedy vyskočíte z vinic a pochytíte sobě každý manželku svou ze dcer Sílo, a odejdete do země Beniamin. 22 Když pak přijdou otcové jejich aneb bratří jejich, aby se před námi soudili, tedy řekneme jim: Slitujte se nad námi místo nich, nebo v té válce nevzali jsme pro každého z nich manželky; také jste vy jim nedali jich, a tak nebudete nic vinni. 23 Tedy učinili tak synové Beniamin, a přivedli sobě manželky vedlé počtu svého z těch plésajících, kteréž uchvátili; a odšedše, navrátili se k dědictví svému, a vzdělavše zase města svá, bydlili v nich. 24 A tak odešli odtud synové Izraelští toho času, jeden každý k svému pokolení a k čeledi své; a vrátili se odtud jeden každý k dědictví svému. 25 Těch dnů nebylo krále v Izraeli, ale každý, což se mu vidělo, to činil.

1 Izraelští muži přísahali v Mispě takto: „Nikdo z nás nedá svou dceru za ženu Benjamínci.“ 2 I přišel lid do Bét-elu a seděli tam před Bohem až do večera za hlasitého nářku a velmi usedavého pláče. 3 Volali: „Hospodine, Bože Izraele, proč se v Izraeli stalo, aby byl dnes odečten od Izraele jeden kmen?“ 4 Nazítří za časného jitra tam lid zbudoval oltář a obětovali oběti zápalné a pokojné. 5 Izraelci se tázali: „Kdo se ze všech izraelských kmenů nedostavil do shromáždění k Hospodinu?“ Byla totiž vyslovena veliká přísaha proti tomu, kdo by se nedostavil do Mispy k Hospodinu, že bez milosti propadne smrti. 6 Synové Izraele totiž litovali svého bratra Benjamína a říkali: „Dnes byl odťat od Izraele jeden kmen. 7 Jak to uděláme se zbývajícími Benjamínci, aby dostali ženy? My jsme přece přísahali při Hospodinu, že jim nedáme za ženu žádnou ze svých dcer.“ 8 Proto se tázali: „Je někdo z izraelských kmenů, který se nedostavil k Hospodinu do Mispy?“ A hle: Z Jábeše v Gileádu nepřišel do tábora na shromáždění nikdo. 9 Byl přepočítán lid a skutečně tam nebyl nikdo z obyvatelů Jábeše v Gileádu. 10 Pospolitost Izraele tam ihned vyslala dvanáct tisíc mužů, chrabrých bojovníků. A přikázali jim: „Jděte pobít obyvatele Jábeše v Gileádu ostřím meče, i ženy a děti. 11 Toto je úkol, který máte splnit: Vyhubíte jako klaté všechny mužského pohlaví i každou ženu, která poznala muže a obcovala s ním.“ 12 Mezi obyvateli Jábeše v Gileádu se našlo čtyři sta dívek, panen, které dosud muže nepoznaly a s mužem neobcovaly. Přivedli je do tábora v Šílu, jež je v kenaanské zemi. 13 Celá pospolitost pak vyslala mluvčí k Benjamínovcům, kteří byli na skalisku Rimónu, aby jim vyhlásili pokoj. 14 Tak se toho času Benjamín vrátil. Dali jim ženy, které ponechali naživu z žen z Jábeše v Gileádu, ale nebylo jich pro ně dost. 15 Lid Benjamína litoval, neboť Hospodin způsobil mezi izraelskými kmeny trhlinu. 16 Stařešinové pospolitosti se tázali: „Co uděláme se zbývajícími, aby dostali ženy, když ženy benjamínské byly vyhubeny?“ 17 Řekli: „Vlastnictví získané uprchlíky bude Benjamínovo, aby nebyl vyhlazen kmen z Izraele. 18 My však jim nemůžeme dát za ženy své dcery.“ Izraelci se totiž zapřísahali: „Buď proklet, kdo by dal ženu Benjamínovi!“ 19 Pak řekli: „Hle, rok co rok bývá Hospodinova slavnost v Šílu, které je severně od Bét-elu, východně od silnice vystupující z Bét-elu do Šekemu a jižně od Lebóny.“ 20 Benjamínovcům přikázali: „Skryjte se ve vinicích jako zálohy. 21 Jak uvidíte, že šíloské dcery vycházejí v průvodu k tanečním rejům, vyrazte z vinic a uchvaťte si každý ženu ze šíloských dcer. Pak odejděte do benjamínské země. 22 Kdyby přišli jejich otcové nebo bratři a chtěli před námi vést spor, řekneme jim: Smilujte se nad nimi kvůli nám. Nevzali jsme v boji ženu pro každého. Vy jste jim je přece nedali, abyste se teď provinili.“ 23 Benjamínovci to tak udělali a unesli si ženy podle svého počtu z tančících dívek, které uloupili. Pak odešli a vrátili se do svého dědictví, vystavěli města a usadili se v nich. 24 Toho času se odtamtud rozešli též Izraelci, každý ke svému kmeni a ke své čeledi, každý odešel do svého dědictví. 25 V těch dnech neměli v Izraeli krále. Každý dělal, co uznal za správné.

1 Izraelci v Micpě přísahali: „Nikdo z nás nedá svou dceru za ženu Benjamínci!“ 2 Potom se odebrali do Bet-elu a seděli tam před Bohem až do večera. S velikým pláčem hlasitě naříkali: 3 „Hospodine, Bože izraelský, co se to v Izraeli stalo? Proč dnes má být z Izraele odečten celý kmen?“ 4 Druhého dne časně zrána tam lid postavil oltář a přinášel zápalné a pokojné oběti. 5 Izraelci se ptali: „Kdo ze všech izraelských kmenů nepřišel do shromáždění k Hospodinu?“ Zavázali se totiž přísahou, že každý, kdo nepřijde k Hospodinu do Micpy, musí zemřít.) 6 Izraelcům tehdy přišlo jejich bratra Benjamína líto. Říkali: „Dnes byl z Izraele vyhlazen celý kmen! 7 Co si počneme s těmi, kdo zbyli? Jak jim opatříme ženy? Vždyť jsme přísahali při Hospodinu, že jim nikdo nedáme svou dceru za ženu.“ 8 Potom se ptali: „Kdo z izraelských kmenů nepřišel k Hospodinu do Micpy?“ Ukázalo se, že do tábora na shromáždění nepřišel nikdo z Jábeš-gileádu. 9 Spočítali totiž lid a hle – z obyvatel Jábeš-gileádu tam nebyl nikdo. 10 Obec tam proto vyslala 12 000 udatných mužů s příkazem: „Jděte a pobijte obyvatele Jábeš-gileádu ostřím meče, včetně žen a dětí. 11 Toto je úkol, který splníte: Každého muže i každou ženu, která poznala muže, pobijte.“ 12 Mezi obyvateli Jábeš-gileádu se našlo 400 dívek, netknutých panen, které ještě nepoznaly muže. Ty přivedli do tábora v Šílu v kanaánské zemi. 13 Obec pak poslala k oněm Benjamíncům na Rimonské skále vzkaz s vyhlášením míru. 14 Benjamín se tenkrát vrátil a Izraelci jim dali ženy, které nechali z Jábeš-gileádu naživu. Nebylo jich ale dost. 15 Lidu bylo Benjamína líto, protože Hospodin dopustil v izraelských kmenech trhlinu. 16 Stařešinové obce říkali: „Co si počneme s těmi, kdo zbyli? Jak jim opatříme ženy? Benjamínské ženy byly přece vyhlazeny.“ 17 Říkali také: „Ti, kdo se z Benjamína zachránili, potřebují dědice, aby z Izraele nevymizel celý kmen. 18 Naše dcery jim ale za ženy dát nemůžeme, protože Izraelci přísahali: Zlořečený, kdo by dal ženu Benjamínovi!“ 19 Pak si ale řekli: „V Šílu je přece Hospodinova výroční slavnost!“ (Je to severně od Bet-elu, východně od silnice vedoucí z Bet-elu do Šechemu a jižně od Lebony.) 20 A tak Benjamíncům poradili: „Jděte se schovat do vinic. 21 Jakmile uvidíte, že dívky ze Šíla jdou tančit na veselici, vyskočte z vinic, každý si z nich polapte manželku a vraťte se do benjamínského kraje. 22 Kdyby si k nám jejich otcové nebo bratři přišli stěžovat, řekneme jim: Mějte s nimi slitování, vždyť jsme v boji neukořistili dost žen pro všechny! Vy sami jste jim dcery nedali, takže jste nevinní.“ 23 A tak to Benjamínci udělali. Každý si z té veselice odvedl manželku, kterou si chytil. Pak šli a vrátili se do svého dědictví. Znovu vystavěli svá města a bydleli v nich. 24 Synové Izraele se tenkrát odtamtud rozešli každý ke svému kmeni a ke svému rodu, každý do svého dědictví. 25 Izrael byl tenkrát bez krále. Každý si dělal, co chtěl.

1 Die Männer Israels hatten in Mizpa geschworen: Keiner von uns darf seine Tochter einem Benjaminiter zur Frau geben. (Sd 20,1) 2 Nun kam das Volk nach Bet-El; sie saßen dort bis zum Abend vor Gott, jammerten laut und klagten sehr. 3 Sie sagten: Warum, HERR, Gott Israels, musste das in Israel geschehen, dass heute ein ganzer Stamm Israels fehlt? 4 Und es geschah am nächsten Morgen, da machte sich das Volk früh auf, sie erbauten dort einen Altar und brachten Brandopfer und Heilsopfer dar. 5 Und die Israeliten fragten: Wer aus allen Stämmen Israels ist nicht zu der Versammlung zum HERRN heraufgekommen? Man hatte nämlich gegen den, der nicht zum HERRN nach Mizpa hinaufgezogen wäre, einen feierlichen Schwur getan und gesagt: Er hat den Tod verdient. 6 Nun aber tat es den Israeliten leid um ihren Bruder Benjamin und sie sagten: Heute ist ein ganzer Stamm von Israel abgehauen worden. 7 Wie können wir denen, die übrig geblieben sind, Frauen verschaffen? Kein Stamm darf in Israel ausgelöscht werden. 18 Von unseren Töchtern können wir ihnen jedoch keine als Frauen geben; denn die Israeliten haben geschworen: Verflucht sei, wer den Benjaminitern eine Frau gibt. 19 Sie sagten also: Da ist doch Jahr für Jahr ein Fest des HERRN in Schilo nördlich von Bet-El, östlich der Straße, die von Bet-El nach Sichem führt, südlich von Lebona. 20 Und sie forderten die Benjaminiter auf: Geht hin und legt euch in den Weinbergen dort auf die Lauer! 21 Wenn ihr dann seht, wie die Töchter Schilos herauskommen, um im Reigen zu tanzen, dann kommt aus den Weinbergen hervor und jeder von euch soll sich von den Töchtern Schilos eine Frau rauben. Dann geht heim ins Land Benjamin! 22 Wenn dann ihre Väter oder Brüder kommen und bei uns Klage erheben, werden wir zu ihnen sagen: Erbarmt euch ihrer um unseretwillen, denn keiner von uns hat seine Frau im Kampf genommen und ihr selbst konntet sie ihnen nicht geben; sonst würdet ihr euch schuldig machen. 23 Die Benjaminiter machten es so und nahmen sich ihrer Anzahl entsprechend Frauen von den tanzenden Mädchen, die sie geraubt hatten. (Sd 20,18; Sd 20,26; Sd 20,31) 3 And they said, “O Lord, the God of Israel, why has this happened in Israel, that today there should be one tribe lacking in Israel?” 4 And the next day the people rose early and built there an altar and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
