1 Vstal pak Jozue velmi ráno, a hnuvše se z Setim, přišli až k Jordánu, on i všickni synové Izraelští, a přenocovali tu, prvé nežli šli přes něj. 2 I stalo se, že třetího dne správcové šli prostředkem stanů, 3 A přikazovali lidu, řkouce: Když uzříte truhlu smlouvy Hospodina Boha svého a kněží Levítské, ani ji nesou, vy také hnete se s místa svého a půjdete za ní, 4 (A však místo mezi vámi a mezi ní bude okolo dvou tisíc loket míry obecné, nepřibližujte se k ní), abyste viděli cestu, kterouž byste jíti měli; nebo nešli jste tou cestou prvé. 5 Řekl pak byl Jozue lidu: Posvěťtež se, zítra zajisté učiní Hospodin divné věci mezi vámi. 6 Potom řekl Jozue kněžím těmi slovy: Vezměte truhlu smlouvy, a jděte před lidem. I vzali truhlu smlouvy a brali se před lidem. 7 Nebo řekl byl Hospodin k Jozue: V tento den začnu tebe zvelebovati před očima všeho Izraele, aby poznali, že jakož jsem byl s Mojžíšem, tak budu s tebou. 8 Protož ty přikaž kněžím, kteříž nosí truhlu smlouvy, a rci: Když vejdete na kraj vody Jordánské, zastavte se v Jordáně. 9 Řekl také Jozue synům Izraelským: Přistupte sem, a slyšte slova Hospodina Boha vašeho. 10 I řekl Jozue: Po tomto poznáte, že Bůh silný živý jest u prostřed vás, a že konečně vyžene od tváři vaší Kananejského, Hetejského, Hevejského, Ferezejského, Gergezejského, Amorejského a Jebuzejského: 11 Aj, truhla smlouvy Panovníka vší země půjde před vámi přes Jordán. 12 Protož nyní vezměte sobě dvanácte mužů z pokolení Izraelských, po jednom muži z každého pokolení. 13 I bude, že hned jakž se zastaví kněží, nesoucí truhlu Hospodina Panovníka vší země, u vodě Jordánské, vody Jordánu rozdělí se, a vody tekoucí s vrchu zůstanou v jedné hromadě. 14 Stalo se tedy, když se bral lid z stanů svých, aby šli přes Jordán, a kněží, kteříž nesli truhlu smlouvy, před nimi, 15 A když ti, kteříž nesli truhlu, přišli až k Jordánu, a kněží, nesoucí truhlu, omočili nohy v kraji vod: (Jordán pak rozvodňuje se a vystupuje ze všech břehů svých v každý čas žně), 16 Že se zastavily vody, kteréž s hůry přicházely, a shrnuly se v hromadu jednu velmi daleko od Adam města, kteréž leží k straně Sartan, kteréž pak odcházely k moři dolů, k moři slanému sešly a sběhly, a lid přešel naproti Jerichu. 17 Stáli pak kněží, kteříž nesli truhlu smlouvy Hospodinovy na suše u prostřed Jordánu, nehýbajíce se, (a všecken Izrael šel po suše), až se lid všecken přepravil přes Jordán.

Půjdete za ní, abyste poznali cestu, kudy se máte ubírat, neboť nikdy předtím jste touto cestou neprocházeli.“ 5 Jozue pak vyzval lid: „Posvěťte se, neboť Hospodin zítra mezi vámi učiní podivuhodné věci.“ 6 Potom Jozue řekl kněžím: „Zvedněte schránu smlouvy a ubírejte se před lidem.“ I zvedli schránu smlouvy a šli před lidem. 7 Hospodin řekl Jozuovi: „Dnešního dne jsem tě začal před zraky celého Izraele vyvyšovat, aby poznali, že jsem s tebou, jako jsem byl s Mojžíšem. 8 Kněžím nesoucím schránu smlouvy přikážeš toto: Až vstoupíte na pokraj jordánských vod, zůstanete v Jordánu stát.“ 9 Jozue vyzval Izraelce: „Přistupte sem a slyšte slova Hospodina, svého Boha.“ 10 A Jozue pokračoval: „Poznáte, že uprostřed vás je živý Bůh. Ten před vámi vyžene Kenaance, Chetejce, Chivejce, Perizejce, Girgašejce, Emorejce i Jebúsejce. 11 Hle, před vámi přejde Jordán schrána smlouvy Pána celé země. 12 Nyní si vyberte z izraelských kmenů dvanáct mužů, po jednom muži z každého kmene. 13 Jakmile nohy kněží nesoucích schránu Hospodina, Pána celé země, spočinou ve vodách Jordánu, jordánské vody se rozestoupí; vody řítící se shora zůstanou stát jako jednolitá hráz.“ 14 Tak se stalo. Lid vytáhl ze svých stanů, aby přešel Jordán, a kněží nesoucí schránu smlouvy šli před lidem. 15 Když ti, kteří nesli schránu, přišli k Jordánu a nohy kněží nesoucích schránu se smočily na pokraji vod – Jordán je vždycky v čas žně rozvodněn daleko z břehů –, 16 tu vody řítící se shora zůstaly stát a postavily se jako jednolitá hráz velmi daleko odtud u města Adamu, které leží při Saretanu; a ty, které tekly dolů k Pustému moři, k moři Solnému, se vytratily. Tak přešel lid naproti Jerichu. 17 Kněží nesoucí schránu Hospodinovy smlouvy stáli nepohnutě na suché zemi uprostřed Jordánu a celý Izrael přecházel po suchu, dokud celý ten pronárod do jednoho nepřešel Jordán.

Půjdete za ní, abyste poznali cestu, kterou máte jít, neboť tou cestou jste nikdy předtím nešli.“ 5 Jozue lidu řekl: „Posvěťte se, neboť zítra mezi vámi Hospodin učiní podivuhodné věci.“ 6 Potom řekl kněžím: „Vezměte Truhlu smlouvy a jděte před lidem.“ Vzali tedy Truhlu smlouvy a šli před lidem. 7 Hospodin tehdy řekl Jozuovi: „Dnešního dne ti začnu v očích celého Izraele dodávat na vážnosti, aby věděli, že jako jsem býval s Mojžíšem, budu i s tebou. 8 A ty přikážeš kněžím nesoucím Truhlu smlouvy: ‚Až dojdete ke kraji jordánských vod, zastavte se v Jordánu.‘“ 9 Jozue tedy řekl synům Izraele: „Pojďte sem a slyšte slova Hospodina, vašeho Boha.“ 10 Pak pokračoval: „Podle toho poznáte, že je mezi vámi živý Bůh: dozajista před vámi vyžene Kanaánce, Chetejce, Hivejce, Perizejce, Girgašejce, Emorejce a Jebusejce. 11 Hle, Truhla smlouvy Pána vší země přechází Jordán před vámi. 12 Proto si z izraelských kmenů vyberte dvanáct mužů, z každého kmene po jednom. 13 Jakmile kněží nesoucí Truhlu Hospodina, Pána vší země, stanou nohama ve vodách Jordánu, tehdy se jordánské vody rozdělí, takže se voda přitékající shora nahromadí na jednom místě.“ 14 Když pak lid vytáhl ze svých stanů, aby přešel Jordán, kněží nesli před lidem Truhlu smlouvy. 15 Jakmile nosiči Truhly došli k Jordánu a kněží nesoucí Truhlu se nohama dotkli okraje vody (Jordán se pokaždé během sklizně všude vylévá z břehů), 16 vtom se vody přitékající shora zastavily. Nahromadily se velmi daleko odtud, u města Adam ležícího u Caretánu, zatímco vody odtékající směrem k Aravskému (neboli Mrtvému)^[2] moři se dočista vytratily. Tak přešel lid přímo proti Jerichu. 17 Kněží nesoucí Truhlu Hospodinovy smlouvy stáli nepohnutě na suché zemi uprostřed Jordánu, zatímco celý Izrael přecházel po suchu, dokud celý národ nepřešel Jordánem.

Wunderbarer Durchzug durch den Jordan

1 Am frühen Morgen brach Josua mit allen Israeliten von Schittim auf. Als sie an den Jordan kamen, übernachteten sie dort, bevor sie ihn überschritten. 2 Nach drei Tagen gingen die Listenführer durch das Lager 3 und befahlen dem Volk: Wenn ihr die Bundeslade des HERRN, eures Gottes, seht und die levitischen Priester, die sie tragen, dann sollt auch ihr von der Stelle, wo ihr seid, aufbrechen und ihr folgen; 4 nur müsst ihr zwischen euch und ihr einen Abstand von etwa zweitausend Ellen lassen, ihr dürft nicht zu nahe an sie herankommen. So werdet ihr wissen, welchen Weg ihr gehen sollt; denn ihr seid den Weg ja früher noch nie gegangen. 5 Und Josua sagte zum Volk: Heiligt euch; denn morgen wird der HERR mitten unter euch Wunder tun. 6 Und zu den Priestern sagte Josua: Nehmt die Bundeslade auf und zieht dem Volk voran! Das von oben herabkommende Wasser stand wie ein Wall in weiter Entfernung, bei der Stadt Adam, die in der Nähe von Zaretan liegt. Israel Crosses the Jordan

1 Then Joshua rose early in the morning and they set out from Shittim. And they came to the Jordan, he and all the people of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
