1 A tento byl los Manassesův (nebo on jest prvorozený Jozefův): Machirovi prvorozenému Manassesovu, otci Gálad, proto že byl muž bojovný, dostal se Galád a Bázan. 2 Dostalo se také jiným synům Manassesovým po čeledech jejich, synům Abiezer, a synům Helek, a synům Asriel, i synům Sechem, a synům Hefer, a synům Semida. (Nebo ti jsou synové Manassesovi, syna Jozefova, muži po rodech svých. 3 Ale Salfad, syn Hefer, syna Galád, syna Machir, syna Manasse, neměl synů, než dcery toliko, jejichž jsou tato jména: Mahla a Noa, Hegla, Melcha a Tersa. 4 Kteréžto přistoupivše před Eleazara kněze, a před Jozue, syna Nun, i před knížata, řekly: Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi, aby nám dal dědictví u prostřed bratří našich. I dal jim Jozue podlé rozkázaní Hospodinova dědictví u prostřed bratří otce jejich.) 5 Dostalo se provazců Manassesovi deset, krom země Galád a Bázan, kteráž byla před Jordánem. 6 Nebo dcery Manassesovy obdržely dědictví mezi syny jeho, země pak Galád přišla jiným synům Manassesovým. 7 A byla meze Manassesova od Asser, Michmetat, jenž jest před Sichem, a táhne se na pravou stranu k obyvatelům Entafue. 8 (Manassesova zajisté byla země Tafue, ale Tafue podlé pomezí Manassesova jest synů Efraimových.) 9 Odkudž sstupuje pomezí ku potoku Kána, na poledne tomu potoku, a tu jsou města Efraimova u prostřed měst Manassesových; pomezí pak Manassesovo jest na půlnoci toho potoka, a skonává se při moři. 10 Na poledne jest díl Efraimův, a na půlnoci Manassesův, moře pak jest pomezí jejich; a v pokolení Asser sbíhají se na půlnoci, v pokolení pak Izachar na východ. 11 Nebo dědictví Manassesovo jest mezi Izacharovým a Asserovým, Betsan i městečka jeho, a Jibleam a městečka jeho; též obyvatelé Dor a městečka jeho, a obyvatelé Endor a městečka jeho; také obyvatelé Tanach a městečka jeho, i obyvatelé Mageddo a městečka jeho; tři ty krajiny. 12 Ale synové Manassesovi nemohli vypléniti obyvatelů těch měst; protož směleji počal Kananejský bydliti v zemi té. 13 Když se pak zsilili synové Izraelští, uvedli sobě Kananejské pod plat, a nevyhladili jich do konce. 14 Tedy mluvili synové Jozefovi k Jozue, řkouce: Proč jsi nám dal dědictví toliko los jeden a provazec jeden, poněvadž jsme lid mnohý; nebo až dosavad žehnal nám Hospodin. 15 I řekl jim Jozue: Poněvadž jsi lid tak mnohý, vejdi do lesa, a vyplaň sobě tam v zemi Ferezejské a Refaimské, jestližeť jest malá hora Efraim. 16 Jemuž odpověděli synové Jozefovi: I tak nám nepostačí ta hora; přes to vozy železné mají všickni Kananejští, kteříž bydlejí v luzích těch, i ti, kteříž jsou v Betsan a v městečkách jeho, i ti, kteříž jsou v údolí Jezreel. 17 I řekl Jozue domu Jozefovu, Efraimovu a Manassesovu, řka: Lid mnohý a silný jsi, nebudeš míti toliko dílu jednoho, 18 Ale horu budeš míti. Jestližeť překáží les, tedy vysekáš jej, a obdržíš končiny její; nebo vyhladíš Kananejského, ačkoli má vozy železné a jest silný.

1 Tento los připadl pokolení Manasesovu; to byl Josefův prvorozený. Makírovi, Manasesovu prvorozenému, otci Gileádovu, za to, že byl válečník, připadly Gileád a Bášan. 2 Také ostatním Manasesovcům připadly podíly pro jejich čeledi: Abíezerovcům, Chelekovcům, Asríelovcům, Šekemovcům, Cheferovcům a Šemídáovcům. To byli potomci Josefova syna Manasesa, mužské potomstvo podle svých čeledí. 3 Avšak Selofchad, syn Cheferův, vnuk Gileádův, pravnuk Manasesova syna Makíra, neměl syny, nýbrž jen dcery. Jmenovaly se: Machla, Nóa, Chogla, Milka a Tirsa. 4 Ty předstoupily před kněze Eleazara a před Jozua, syna Núnova, a před předáky se slovy: „Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi, aby nám dal dědičný podíl mezi našimi bratřími.“ Dali jim tedy podle Hospodinova příkazu dědičný podíl mezi bratry jejich otce. 5 Manasesovi bylo tudíž přiděleno deset oblastí, kromě území gileádského a bášanského, která jsou v Zajordání, 6 neboť Manasesovy dcery obdržely mezi jeho potomky dědičný podíl. Země gileádská připadla ostatním Manasesovcům. 7 Manasesova hranice jde od Ašeru k Michmetu, který leží naproti Šekemu, a vede na jih k obyvatelům Én-tapúachu. 8 Území tapúašské připadlo Manasesovi, ale samotný Tapúach, při Manasesově pomezí, patřil Efrajimovcům. 9 Hranice pak sestupuje k potoku Káně. Na jih od potoka mezi městy Manasesovými jsou města patřící Efrajimovi. Hranice Manasesova se táhne severně podél potoka a vybíhá k moři. 10 Jižní část patří Efrajimovi, severní Manasesovi, a jeho hranici tvoří moře. Na severu se dotýkají Ašera a na východě Isachara. 11 Manasesovi připadly v území Isacharově a Ašerově: Bét-šeán s vesnicemi, Jibleám s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Dóru s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Én-dóru s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Taanaku s vesnicemi, obyvatelé Megida s vesnicemi a tři návrší. 12 Ale Manasesovci nebyli s to podrobit si tato města a to umožnilo Kenaancům zůstat v té zemi. 13 Teprve když se Izraelci vzmohli, podrobili Kenaance nuceným pracím. Ale nebyli s to podrobit si je úplně. 14 I vytýkali Josefovci Jozuovi: „Proč jsi nám dal za dědictví jeden los a jednu oblast? Jsme lid početný, protože Hospodin nám tak mnoho požehnal.“ 15 Jozue jim řekl: „Jste-li lid početný, vytáhněte do lesů, tam na území Perizejců a Refájců, a vykácejte je, když je pro vás Efrajimské pohoří těsné.“ 16 Josefovci namítali: „Pohoří nám nepostačí. A všichni Kenaanci, kteří sídlí v dolině, mají železné vozy, jak v Bét-šeánu s jeho vesnicemi, tak v dolině Jizreelu.“ 17 Jozue odpověděl domu Josefovu, Efrajimovi a Manasesovi: „Jste početný lid a máte velkou sílu. Nebudete mít jeden los. 18 Bude vám patřit pohoří. Protože je zalesněné, vykácíte je, a kam až vybíhá, bude vám patřit. Podrobíte si Kenaance, třebaže mají železné vozy a jsou silní.“

1 Toto je díl, který losem připadl pokolení Josefova prvorozeného, Manasese. (Gileád a Bášan už připadly Machirovi, Manasesovu prvorozenému a otci Gileáda, protože to byl takový bojovník.) 2 Dostalo se i na zbývající Manasesovy syny pro jejich rody, totiž pro pro syny Abiezerovy, Chelekovy, Asrielovy, Šechemovy, Cheferovy a Šemidovy. To jsou ostatní mužští potomci Manasese, syna Josefova, podle svých rodů. 3 Celofchad, syn Chefera, syna Gileádova, syna Machirova, syna Manasesova, ale neměl syny, jen samé dcery. Jmenovaly se: Machla, Noa, Chogla, Milka a Tirsa. 4 Ty předstoupily před kněze Eleazara, před Jozua, syna Nunova, a před izraelské vůdce se slovy: „Hospodin přikázal Mojžíšovi, že máme dostat dědictví mezi našimi bratry.“ A tak jim Jozue dal dědictví mezi bratry jejich otce, jak přikázal Hospodin.^[1] 5 Manasesovi tedy připadlo deset přídělů (mimo gileádské a bášanské země v Zajordání), 6 neboť Manasesovy dcery obdržely dědictví mezi jeho syny. Země Gileád připadla zbývajícím Manasesovým synům. 7 Manasesova hranice vede od Ašeru k Michmetatu, který leží východně od Šechemu, a pokračuje na jih k obyvatelům En-tapuachu. 8 Země kolem Tapuachu patří Manasesovi, zatímco samotný Tapuach na Manasesově hranici patří synům Efraimovým. 9 Hranice potom sestupuje potokem Kána. Zde, mezi Manasesovými městy jižně od potoka, jsou města patřící Efraimovi. Manasesova hranice vede po severní straně potoka, až dosáhne ke Středozemnímu moři. 10 Jižní strana patří Efraimovi a severní strana Manasesovi, jehož hranicí je moře. Na severu hranice dosahuje až k Ašerovi a na východě k Isacharovi. 11 Na Isacharově a Ašerově území připadlo Manasesovi toto: Bet-šean a Jibleam s jejich vesnicemi, obyvatelé Doru, En-doru a Taanachu s jejich vesnicemi a obyvatelé Megida s jeho vesnicemi. (Třetí ve výčtu je Náfot.)^[2] 12 Synové Manasesovi se ale těchto měst nedokázali zmocnit; Kanaánci totiž byli rozhodnuti v té zemi zůstat. 13 Když synové Izraele později zesílili, podrobili Kanaánce nuceným pracím, ale úplně se jich nezbavili.

Početný lid

14 Synové Josefovi řekli Jozuovi: „Proč jsi nám dal za dědictví jen jeden los a jediný příděl? Jsme početný lid, neboť nám Hospodin až doposud žehnal.“ 15 „Když jste tak početný lid,“ řekl jim na to Jozue, „jděte do lesů. Vykácejte si místo tam, v zemi Perizejců a Refajců, když je vám tak těsno v Efraimských horách.“ 16 „Hory nám nestačí,“ odpověděli Josefovi synové. „A navíc, všichni Kanaánci z nížiny, jak z Bet-šeanu a okolí, tak z údolí Jizreel, mají železné vozy!“ 17 Jozue na to Efraimovi a Manasesovi z Josefova domu řekl: „Jste početný lid a máte velkou sílu. Nezůstane vám jeden los. 18 Hory jsou vaše. Že je tam les? Vykácíte ho, a kam až sahá, to bude vaše. Ty Kanaánce přece vyženete. Co na tom, že mají železné vozy a že jsou silní?“

2 And allotments were made to the rest of the people of Manasseh by their clans, Abiezer, Helek, Asriel, Shechem, Hepher, and Shemida. These were the male descendants of Manasseh the son of Joseph, by their clans. 5 Thus there fell to Manasseh ten portions, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which is on the other side of the Jordan, (Jz 13,30; Jz 17,1) 6 because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance along with his sons. The land of Gilead was allotted to the rest of the people of Manasseh. 7 The territory of Manasseh reached from Asher to Michmethath, which is east of Shechem. Then the boundary goes along southward to the inhabitants of En-tappuah.
