1 Potom zavolal hlasem velikým, tak že jsem slyšel, řka: Přistupte hejtmané k tomuto městu, a jeden každý s zbrojí svou hubící v ruce své. 2 A aj, šest mužů přišlo cestou k bráně hořejší, kteráž patří na půlnoci, maje každý zbroj svou rozrážející v ruce své. Muž pak jeden byl u prostřed nich, oděný rouchem lněným, a kalamář písařský při bedrách jeho; a přišedše, stáli u oltáře měděného. 3 Sláva pak Boha Izraelského sstoupila byla s cherubína, na kterémž byla, k prahu domu, a zvolala na muže toho oděného rouchem lněným, při jehož bedrách byl kalamář písařský. 4 I řekl jemu Hospodin: Přejdi prostředkem města, prostředkem Jeruzaléma, a znamenej znamením na čelích muže ty, kteříž vzdychají a naříkají nade všemi ohavnostmi dějícími se u prostřed něho. 5 Oněmno pak řekl tak, že jsem slyšel: Projděte skrze město za ním, a bíte; neodpouštějž oko vaše, aniž se slitovávejte. 6 Starce, mládence i pannu, maličké i ženy mordujte do vyhubení, ale ke všelikému muži, na němž by bylo znamení, nepřistupujte, a od svatyně mé počněte. Takž začali od mužů těch starších, kteříž byli před chrámem. 7 (Nebo jim byl řekl: Poškvrňte domu, a naplňte síně zbitými. Jdětež.) A vyšedše, bili v městě. 8 I stalo se, když je bili, a já pozůstal, že jsem padl na tvář svou, a zvolal jsem, řka: Ach, Panovníče Hospodine, zdaliž zahubíš všecken ostatek Izraelský, vylévaje prchlivost svou na Jeruzalém? 9 I řekl mi: Nepravost domu Izraelského a Judského veliká jest velmi velice, a naplněna jest země mordy, a město plné jest převrácenců. Nebo říkali: Opustil Hospodin zemi tuto, a Hospodin nikoli nevidí nás. 10 Protož já také cestu jejich na hlavu jejich obrátím; neodpustí oko mé, aniž se slituji. 11 A aj, muž oděný rouchem lněným, při jehož bedrách byl kalamář, oznámil to, řka: Učinil jsem, jakž jsi mi rozkázal.

— Trest začne od chrámu - Vidění muže v lněném šatě. Hospodinovi věrní jsou na čele označeni znamením, ostatní propadají záhubě.

1 I zavolal na mne mocným hlasem: „Blíží se ti, kteří budou trestat město; každý se svou zkázonosnou zbraní v ruce.“ 2 A hle, šest mužů přichází cestou od Horní brány, obrácené k severu, každý se svou ničivou zbraní v ruce. Jeden z nich je oděn lněným šatem a má na bedrech písařský kalamář. Když přišli, postavili se u bronzového oltáře. 3 Tu se přenesla sláva Boha Izraele z cheruba, na němž spočívala, k prahu domu. Hospodin zavolal muže oděného lněným šatem, který měl na bedrech písařský kalamář, 4 a poručil mu: „Projdi středem města, středem Jeruzaléma, a označ znamením na čele muže, kteří vzdychají a sténají nad všemi ohavnostmi, které se v něm páchají.“ 5 A slyšel jsem, jak ostatním poručil: „Procházejte městem za ním a bijte bez lítosti a bez soucitu. 6 Starce, mladíka, pannu, děti i ženy zabíjejte, šiřte zkázu. Nepřistupujte však k nikomu z těch, na nichž je znamení. Začněte od mé svatyně!“ I začali od starších, kteří byli před domem. 7 Nařídil jim: „Poskvrňte dům, naplňte nádvoří skolenými; jděte!“ I vyšli do města a pobíjeli. 8 Když je pobíjeli a já zůstal sám, padl jsem na tvář a úpěl: „Běda, Panovníku Hospodine, chceš uvést zkázu na celý pozůstatek Izraele, že vyléváš na Jeruzalém své rozhořčení?“ 9 Řekl mi: „Nepravost domu izraelského i judského je nesmírně veliká. Země je plná prolité krve a město je plné křivd. Vždyť řekli: ‚Hospodin zemi opustil, Hospodin nic nevidí.‘ 10 Proto mi jich nebude líto a nebudu znát soucit. Jejich cestu obrátím na jejich hlavu.“ 11 A hle, muž oděný lněným šatem, s kalamářem na bedrech, podal zprávu: „Provedl jsem, co jsi mi přikázal.“

1 Potom hlasitě zvolal: „Přistupte vy, kdo ztrestáte město! Každý přineste svou zhoubnou zbraň!“ 2 A hle – od Horní brány, obrácené na sever, přišlo šest mužů, každý s ničivou zbraní v ruce, a s nimi jeden v plátěném rouchu a s písařským náčiním po boku. Nemějte slitování, nešetřete je. 6 Staré i mladé, dívky, ženy i děti – všechny pobijte! K žádnému z těch, kdo nesou ono znamení, se ale nepřibližujte. Začněte od mé svatyně.“ Začali tedy od stařešinů před chrámem. 7 „Poskvrňte chrám!“ řekl jim. „Naplňte nádvoří mrtvolami. Jděte!“ A tak vyšli do města a pobíjeli. 8 Zatímco pobíjeli, zůstal jsem sám. Padl jsem na tvář a úpěl: „Ach ne, Hospodine, Pane můj! To chceš vyhubit celý pozůstatek Izraele, že vyléváš na Jeruzalém svůj hněv?“ 9 Tehdy mi řekl: „Vina domu Izraele a Judy je veliká, příliš veliká. Země je plná krve a ve městě samá zvrácenost. Říkají si totiž: ‚Hospodin zemi opustil. Hospodin to nevidí.‘ 10 Proto se neslituji a nebudu je šetřit. Obrátím jim jejich cesty na hlavy.“ 11 A hle – ten muž oděný plátnem a s psacím náčiním po boku se vrátil se zprávou: „Provedl jsem, cos mi přikázal.“

1 Und er schrie mir laut in die Ohren: Das Strafgericht über die Stadt ist nahe. Jeder soll sein Werkzeug zum Zertrümmern in seine Hand nehmen. 2 Und siehe: Da kamen sechs Männer vom oberen Tor, das nach Norden gerichtet ist. Jeder hatte sein Werkzeug zum Zertrümmern in seiner Hand. Einer aus ihrer Mitte jedoch war gekleidet in ein leinenes Gewand; an seinen Hüften hing Schreibzeug. Sie kamen herein und stellten sich neben den Altar aus Bronze. (Zj 1,13) 3 Die Herrlichkeit des Gottes Israels erhob sich vom Kerub, über dem sie war, hinüber zur Schwelle des Tempels. Er rief den Mann, der das leinene Gewand trug und an dessen Hüften das Schreibzeug hing.
