1Opět stalo se slovo Hospodinovo ke mně, řkoucí:2Což jest vám, že užíváte přísloví tohoto o zemi Izraelské, říkajíce: Otcové jedli hrozen trpký, a zubové synů laskominy mají?3Živť jsem já, praví Panovník Hospodin, že nebudete moci více užívati přísloví tohoto v Izraeli.4Aj, všecky duše mé jsou, jakož duše otcova, tak i duše synova mé jsou. Duše, kteráž hřeší, ta umře.5Nebo byl-li by někdo spravedlivý, a činil by soud a spravedlnost;6Na horách by nejídal, a očí svých nepozdvihoval k ukydaným bohům domu Izraelského, a manželky bližního svého by nepoškvrnil, a k ženě pro nečistotu oddělené nepřistoupil;7Kterýž by žádného neutiskal, základ dlužníku svému by navracoval, cizího mocí nebral, chleba svého by lačnému udílel, a nahého přiodíval rouchem;8Na lichvu by nedával, a úroku nebral, od nepravosti ruku svou by odvracoval, soud pravý mezi jedním i druhým by činil;9V ustanoveních mých by chodil, a soudů mých ostříhal, čině, což pravého jest: spravedlivý ten jistě žeť živ bude, praví Panovník Hospodin.10Zplodil-li by pak syna lotra, prolevače krve, kterýž by čímkoli z těch věcí škodil bratru,11Onoho pak všeho nečinil by, anobrž i na horách by jídal, a ženy bližního svého by poškvrnil;12Chudého a nuzného by utiskl, cizí věci mocí vzal, základu by nenavrátil, a k ukydaným bohům očí svých by pozdvihoval, ohavnost provodil,13Na lichvu by dával, a úrok bral: zdaž bude živ? Nebude živ. Poněvadž všecky ohavnosti tyto činil, jistotně umře, krev jeho přijde na něj.14A aj, zplodil-li by syna, kterýž by spatřil všecky hříchy otce svého, kteréž činil, a vida, nečinil by tak;15Na horách by nejídal, a očí svých nepozdvihoval k ukydaným bohům domu Izraelského, manželky bližního svého by nepoškvrnil,16A aniž by koho utiskal, základu by nezadržoval, cizího mocí nebral, chleba svého lačnému by udílel, a nahého rouchem by přiodíl;17Od chudého by zdržel ruku svou, lichvy a úroku by nebral, soudy mé činil, v ustanoveních mých by chodil: tenť neumře pro nepravost otce svého, jistě živ bude.18Otec pak jeho, proto že se bezpráví dopouštěl, cizí věci bratru mocí bral, a to, což není dobré, činil u prostřed lidu svého: protož aj, umře pro nepravost svou.19Ale říkáte: Jak by to bylo? Zdaž nenese syn nepravosti otcovy? Když syn činí soud a spravedlnost, všech ustanovení mých ostříhá a činí je, jistě žeť živ bude.20Duše, kteráž hřeší, ta umře. Syn neponese nepravosti otcovy, aniž otec ponese nepravosti synovy; spravedlnost spravedlivého při něm zůstane, též bezbožnost bezbožného na něj připadne.21Pakli byse bezbožný odvrátil ode všech hříchu svých, kteréž činil, a ostříhal by všech ustanovení mých, a činil by soud a spravedlnost, jistě živ bude a neumře.22Žádná přestoupení jeho, jichž se dopustil, nebudou jemu připomínána; v spravedlnosti své, kterouž by činil, živ bude.23Zdaliž jakou líbost mám, když umírá bezbožný? dí Panovník Hospodin. Zdali ne raději když se odvrací od cest svých, aby živ byl?24Pakli by se odvrátil spravedlivý od spravedlnosti své, a činil by nepravost, čině podlé všech ohavností, kteréž činí bezbožný, takový-liž by živ byl? Na žádné spravedlnosti jeho, kteréž činil, nebude pamatováno. Pro přestoupení své, jehož se dopouštěl, a pro hřích svůj, kterýž páchal, pro tyť věci umře.25Že pak říkáte: Není pravá cesta Páně, poslyštež nyní, ó dome Izraelský: Zdali má cesta není pravá? Zdali nejsou cesty vaše nepravé?26Když by se odvrátil spravedlivý od spravedlnosti své, a čině nepravost, v tom by umřel, pro nepravost svou, kterouž činil, umře.27A když by se odvrátil bezbožný od bezbožnosti své, kterouž činil, a činil by soud a spravedlnost, tenť duši svou zachová při životu.28Nebo prohlédl, a odvrátil, se ode všech přestoupení svých, jichž se dopouštěl; jistě žeť živ bude a neumře.29A však vždy říká dům Izraelský: Není pravá cesta Páně. Zdali mé cesty nepravé jsou, ó dome Izraelský? Zdaliž nejsou cesty vaše nepravé?30A protož každého z vás podlé cest jeho souditi budu, ó dome Izraelský, dí Panovník Hospodin. Navraťtež se a odvraťte ode všech přestoupení svých, aby vám nebyla k úrazu nepravost.31Odvrzte od sebe všecka přestoupení vaše, jichž jste se dopouštěli, a učiňte sobě srdce nové a ducha nového. I pročež mřete, ó dome Izraelský?32Však nemám líbosti v smrti toho, jenž umírá, dí Panovník Hospodin. Obraťte se tedy, a živi buďte.
— Každý bude trestán za svůj hřích - Nikdo se nesmí vymlouvat, že trpí za druhého. Každý ponese následky vlastních činů.
1 I stalo se ke mně slovo Hospodinovo:2 „Co si myslíte, když říkáte o izraelské zemi toto přísloví: ‚Otcové jedli nezralé hrozny a synům trnou zuby?‘ 3 Jakože jsem živ, je výrok Panovníka Hospodina, toto přísloví se už nebude mezi vámi v Izraeli říkat.4 Hle, mně patří všechny duše; jak duše otcova, tak duše synova jsou mé. Zemře ta duše, která hřeší. 5 Je-li někdo spravedlivý a jedná podle práva a spravedlnosti,6 nehoduje na horách a nepozvedá oči k hnusným modlám izraelského domu, neposkvrňuje ženu svého bližního a nepřibližuje se k ženě v čase její nečistoty,7 nikoho neutiskuje, dlužníkovi vrací jeho zástavu, nikoho neodírá, hladovému dává svůj chléb a nahého přikrývá rouchem,8 nepůjčuje lichvářsky a nebere úrok, odvrací se od bezpráví, vykonává pravdivý soud mezi mužem a mužem,9 řídí se mými nařízeními, zachovává mé řády a jedná věrně, takový spravedlivý jistě bude žít, je výrok Panovníka Hospodina. 10 Pokud však zplodí syna rozvratníka, který bude prolévat krev a dopouštět se proti bratru čehokoli z těchto věcí11 a nebude činit nic z oněch věcí dobrých, ale bude hodovat na horách, poskvrňovat ženu svého bližního,12 utiskovat utištěného ubožáka, druhého odírat, nevracet zástavu, pozvedat oči k hnusným modlám, dopouštět se ohavnosti,13 půjčovat lichvářsky a brát úrok, bude žít? Nebude žít; dopouštěl se všech těchto ohavností, jistě zemře, jeho krev bude na něm.14 Zplodí-li však syna, který uvidí všechny hříchy svého otce, jichž se dopouští, a ulekne se, nebude se jich dopouštět,15 nebude jíst na horách a pozvedat oči k hnusným modlám izraelského domu, nebude poskvrňovat ženu svého bližního,16 nebude nikoho utiskovat, neponechá si zástavu a nikoho nebude odírat, bude dávat hladovému svůj chléb a nahého přikrývat rouchem,17 neodtáhne svou ruku od utištěného, nevezme lichvu ani úrok, nýbrž bude jednat podle mých řádů a řídit se mými nařízeními, ten pro nepravost svého otce nezemře, jistě bude žít.18 Jeho otec, protože se dopouštěl útisku, odíral bratra a nekonal dobro mezi svým lidem, zemře pro svou nepravost.19 Vy však říkáte: ‚Proč nepyká syn za otcovu nepravost?‘ Bude-li syn jednat podle práva a spravedlnosti, dbát na všechna má nařízení a plnit je, jistě bude žít.20 Duše, která hřeší, ta umře; syn nebude pykat za nepravost otcovu a otec nebude pykat za nepravost synovu; spravedlnost zůstane na spravedlivém a zvůle zůstane na svévolníkovi. 21 Kdyby se svévolník odvrátil ode všech svých hříchů, jichž se dopouštěl, a dbal by na všechna má nařízení a jednal podle práva a spravedlnosti, jistě bude žít, nezemře.22 Žádná jeho nevěrnost, jíž se dopustil, mu nebude připomínána, bude žít pro svou spravedlnost, podle níž jednal.23 Což si libuji v smrti svévolníka? je výrok Panovníka Hospodina. Zdalipak nechci, aby se odvrátil od svých cest a byl živ? 24 Když se spravedlivý odvrátí od své spravedlnosti a bude se dopouštět bezpráví podle všech ohavností, jichž se dopouští svévolník, měl by žít? Žádné jeho spravedlivé činy, které konal, nebudou připomínány, zemře za to, že se zpronevěřil, za svůj hřích, kterým se prohřešil.25 Vy však říkáte: ‚Cesta Panovníkova není správná.‘ Nuže, slyšte, dome izraelský: Má cesta že není správná? Nejsou to vaše cesty, jež nejsou správné?26 Když se spravedlivý odvrátí od své spravedlnosti a dopouští se bezpráví, umře za to; zemře pro své bezpráví, jehož se dopouštěl. 27 Když se však svévolník odvrátí od své zvůle, jíž se dopouštěl, a jedná podle práva a spravedlnosti, zachová svou duši při životě.28 Prohlédl totiž a odvrátil se ode všech svých nevěrností, jichž se dopouštěl; jistě bude žít, nezemře.29 Avšak dům izraelský říká: ‚Cesta Panovníkova není správná.‘ Mé cesty že nejsou správné, dome izraelský? Nejsou to vaše cesty, jež nejsou správné? 30 Proto budu soudit každého z vás, dome izraelský, podle jeho cest, je výrok Panovníka Hospodina. Obraťte se a odvraťte se ode všech svých nevěrností a vaše nepravost vám nebude k pádu.31 Odhoďte od sebe všechny nevěrnosti, jichž jste se dopouštěli, a obnovte své srdce a svého ducha. Proč byste měli zemřít, dome izraelský?32 Vždyť já si nelibuji ve smrti toho, kdo umírá, je výrok Panovníka Hospodina. Obraťte se tedy a budete žít.“
1Dostal jsem slovo Hospodinovo:2„Co je to s vámi, že o izraelské zemi říkáte toto přísloví: ‚Rodiče jedli trpké hrozny a dětem trnou zuby‘?[1]3Jakože jsem živ, praví Panovník Hospodin, to přísloví už v Izraeli říkat nebudete.4Hle – mně patří všechny životy, jak život rodičů, tak život dětí! Životem zaplatí ten, kdo hřeší.5Někdo je třeba spravedlivý a jedná poctivě a spravedlivě:6Nehoduje v náhorních svatyních, k modlám izraelského domu nevzhlíží, manželku svého bližního nezneuctí, nepřiblíží se k ženě, dokud krvácí,7nikomu nechce ublížit, vrací dlužníkovi, co zastavil, nepřivlastňuje si, co mu nepatří, dělí se o chléb s hladovým a dává šaty nahým,8nepůjčuje jako lichváři a nevymáhá úroky, odvrací ruku od křivdy a lidi správně rozsoudí,9řídí se mými pravidly a věrně dodržuje mé zákony. Takový člověk je spravedlivý, takový jistě bude žít, praví Panovník Hospodin.10Zplodí však třeba zločince a vraha, který provádí cokoli z těch věcí,11kterých se on sám varoval: Hoduje v náhorních svatyních, manželku svého bližního zneuctí,12ubližuje chudým a ubohým, přivlastňuje si, co mu nepatří, nevrací, co vzal do zástavy, upírá oči na modly, páchá ohavnosti,13půjčuje jako lichváři a vymáhá úroky. Takový má snad žít? Nikoli! Za všechny ohavnosti, které prováděl, jistě zemře; jeho krev ulpí na něm.14Třeba však zplodí syna, který vidí všechny hříchy, které jeho otec páchá, prohlédne a začne jednat jinak:15Nehoduje v náhorních svatyních, k modlám izraelského domu nevzhlíží, manželku svého bližního nezneuctí,16nikomu nechce ublížit, nebere nic do zástavy, nepřivlastňuje si, co mu nepatří, dělí se o chléb s hladovým a dává šaty nahým,17vyhýbá se tomu, aby chudým ublížil, nepůjčuje jako lichváři a nevymáhá úroky, plní mé zákony a řídí se mými pravidly. Takový nezemře za otcovy viny – takový jistě bude žít!18Jeho otec však zemře za své viny, protože působil příkoří, okrádal bratra a prováděl mezi svým lidem špatnosti.19Vy ale říkáte: ‚Jak to, že syn nenese otcovy viny?‘ – Jestliže ten syn jednal poctivě a spravedlivě, dodržoval má pravidla a plnil je, takový jistě bude žít.20Životem zaplatí ten, kdo hřeší. Syn neponese otcovy viny a otec neponese viny synovy.[2] Spravedlivému se bude počítat jeho spravedlnost a ničemovi jeho ničemnost.21Když se však ničema odvrátí ode všech hříchů, jichž se dopustil, bude dodržovat všechna má pravidla a jednat poctivě a spravedlivě – takový nezemře, takový jistě bude žít!22Žádné hříchy, jichž se dopustil, mu nebudou připomínány. Protože jednal spravedlivě, bude žít.23Mám snad zalíbení ve smrti ničemy? praví Panovník Hospodin. Nechci snad raději, aby se od svých cest odvrátil a žil?24Když se však spravedlivý odvrátí od své spravedlnosti a bude jako ničema páchat bezpráví a provádět všemožné ohavnosti – má snad žít? Žádné spravedlivé skutky, které konal, nebudou vzpomenuty. Zemře za to, jak byl nevěrný, za hřích, kterého se dopustil.25Vy ale říkáte: ‚Hospodin je ve svém jednání vrtkavý.‘ Poslyš, dome izraelský: Já že jsem ve svém jednání vrtkavý? Nejste to spíše vy, kdo je vrtkavý ve svém jednání?26Když se spravedlivý odvrátí od své spravedlnosti a páchá bezpráví, musí zemřít. Zemře kvůli bezpráví, jehož se dopustil.27Když se ničema odvrátí od své ničemnosti a jedná poctivě a spravedlivě, zachrání se a bude žít.28Prohlédl a odvrátil se ode všech hříchů, jichž se dopustil – takový nezemře, takový jistě bude žít.29Dům Izraele však říká: ‚Hospodin je ve svém jednání vrtkavý.‘ Já že jsem ve svém jednání vrtkavý, dome izraelský? Nejste to spíše vy, kdo je vrtkavý ve svém jednání?30Proto vás budu soudit, dome Izraele, každého podle jeho jednání, praví Panovník Hospodin. Obraťte se! Odvrhněte všechny své hříchy, ať vás ta vina nezničí!31Odhoďte všechny hříchy, které jste páchali, a získejte nové srdce a nového ducha.[3] Proč máte umírat, dome izraelský?32Nemám zalíbení ve smrti umírajících, praví Panovník Hospodin. Obraťte se a žijte!“

Das Leben des Vaters ebenso wie das Leben des Sohnes: Sie gehören mir. Der Mensch, der sündigt, nur er soll sterben. (Dt 24,16; Ez 18,20)5Wenn jemand gerecht ist und nach Recht und Gerechtigkeit handelt: (Lv 19,4; Ž 15,1; Ez 22,6)6Er hält keine Opfermahlzeiten auf den Bergen. Er blickt nicht zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel auf. Er schändet nicht die Frau seines Nächsten. Einer Frau tritt er nicht nahe während ihrer Blutung. (Lv 18,19; Ez 22,9)7Er unterdrückt niemanden. Er gibt sein Schuldpfand zurück. Er begeht keinen Raub. Dem Hungrigen gibt er sein Brot und den Nackten bedeckt er mit Kleidung.[1] (Dt 24,10; Iz 58,7)8Er gibt nicht gegen Zins und treibt keinen Wucher. Er hält seine Hand vom Unrecht fern. Zwischen allen fällt er einen gerechten Richtspruch.9Wenn er also nach meinen Satzungen geht und meine Rechtsentscheide bewahrt und sie treu befolgt: Gerecht ist er, er wird gewiss am Leben bleiben - Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn.10Zeugt er aber einen Sohn, der gewalttätig wird, der Blut vergießt und eines von diesen Dingen verübt,11während er selbst all das nicht getan hat: Wenn dieser sogar auf den Bergen Opfermahlzeiten hält, die Frau seines Nächsten schändet,12den Elenden und Armen unterdrückt, Raub begeht, ein Pfand nicht zurückgibt, zu den Götzen aufblickt und Gräueltaten verübt,13gegen Zins gibt und Wucher treibt - soll der am Leben bleiben? Er soll nicht am Leben bleiben. Er hat alle diese Gräueltaten verübt. Er hat den Tod verdient. Seine Bluttaten werden auf ihm sein. (Ez 33,4)14Und siehe, auch er zeugt einen Sohn und der sieht alle die Sünden, die sein Vater begeht. Er sieht sie, begeht sie aber nicht.15Er hält auf den Bergen keine Opfermahlzeiten. Er blickt nicht zu den Götzen des Hauses Israel auf. Er schändet nicht die Frau seines Nächsten.16Er unterdrückt niemand. Er fordert kein Pfand und begeht keinen Raub. Dem Hungrigen gibt er sein Brot, den Nackten bedeckt er mit Kleidung.17Er hält seine Hand vom Armen fern. Er nimmt keinen Zins und treibt keinen Wucher. Er befolgt meine Rechtsentscheide und geht nach meinen Satzungen. Er wird nicht wegen der Schuld seines Vaters sterben; er wird gewiss am Leben bleiben. (Ez 11,20)18Sein Vater aber, da er Erpressung verübte, Raub gegen seinen Bruder beging und inmitten seines Volkes tat, was nicht recht ist, siehe, er musste wegen seiner Schuld sterben.19Ihr aber sagt: Warum trägt der Sohn nicht mit an der Schuld des Vaters? Der Sohn hat nach Recht und Gerechtigkeit gehandelt. Er hat alle meine Satzungen bewahrt und sie befolgt. Er wird bestimmt am Leben bleiben. (Ex 20,5)20Der Mensch, der sündigt, nur er soll sterben. Ein Sohn soll nicht an der Schuld des Vaters mittragen und ein Vater soll nicht an der Schuld des Sohnes mittragen. Die Gerechtigkeit des Gerechten kommt über ihn selbst und die Schuld des Schuldigen kommt über ihn selbst. (Dt 24,16; 2Kr 14,6; Ez 18,4)21Wenn der Schuldige sich von allen Sünden, die er getan hat, abwendet, alle meine Satzungen bewahrt und nach Recht und Gerechtigkeit handelt, wird er bestimmt am Leben bleiben, er wird nicht sterben.22Keines seiner Vergehen, die er begangen hat, wird ihm angerechnet. Wegen seiner Gerechtigkeit, die er geübt hat, wird er am Leben bleiben. (Ez 33,16)23Habe ich etwa Gefallen am Tod des Schuldigen - Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn - und nicht vielmehr daran, dass er umkehrt von seinen Wegen und am Leben bleibt? (Ez 18,32; Ez 33,11; Oz 11,9; 1Tm 2,4)24Wenn jedoch ein Gerechter sich abkehrt von seiner Gerechtigkeit und Unrecht tut, all die Gräueltat, die auch der Schuldige verübt, sollte er dann etwa am Leben bleiben? Keine seiner gerechten Taten wird ihm angerechnet. Wegen seiner Treulosigkeit, die er verübt, und wegen der Sünde, die er begangen hat, ihretwegen muss er sterben. (Ez 3,20; Ez 33,13)25Ihr aber sagt: Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig. Hört doch, ihr vom Haus Israel: Mein Weg soll nicht richtig sein? Sind es nicht eure Wege, die nicht richtig sind? (Ez 33,17)26Wenn ein Gerechter sich abkehrt von seiner Gerechtigkeit und Unrecht tut, muss er dafür sterben. Wegen des Unrechts, das er getan hat, wird er sterben.27Wenn ein Schuldiger von dem Unrecht umkehrt, das er begangen hat, und nach Recht und Gerechtigkeit handelt, wird er sein Leben bewahren.28Wenn er alle seine Vergehen, die er verübt hat, einsieht und umkehrt, wird er bestimmt am Leben bleiben. Er wird nicht sterben.29Die vom Haus Israel aber sagen: Der Weg des Herrn ist nicht richtig. Mein Weg soll nicht richtig sein, ihr vom Haus Israel? Sind es nicht vielmehr eure Wege, die nicht richtig sind?30Darum will ich euch richten, jeden nach seinem Weg, ihr vom Haus Israel - Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn. Kehrt um, kehrt euch ab von all euren Vergehen! Sie sollen für euch nicht länger der Anlass sein, in Schuld zu fallen. (Ez 7,19; Ez 33,20; Ez 44,12)31Werft alle Vergehen von euch, die ihr verübt habt! Schafft euch ein neues Herz und einen neuen Geist! Warum wollt ihr denn sterben, ihr vom Haus Israel? (Ez 11,19; Ez 36,26)32Ich habe doch kein Gefallen am Tod dessen, der sterben muss - Spruch GOTTES, des Herrn. Kehrt um, damit ihr am Leben bleibt! (Ez 33,11)

Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?26When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.27Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.28Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.29Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal.
