1 Potom pak přišli Mojžíš s Aronem, a řekli Faraonovi: Takto praví Hospodin, Bůh Izraelský: Propusť lid můj, ať mi slaví svátky na poušti. 2 Odpověděl Farao: Kdo jest Hospodin, abych poslechl hlasu jeho a propustil Izraele? Hospodina neznám, Izraele také nepropustím. 3 I řekli: Bůh Hebrejský potkal se s námi. Nechť medle jdeme cestou tří dní na poušť, a obětujeme Hospodinu Bohu našemu, aby nedopustil na nás moru neb meče. 4 I řekl jim král Egyptský: Proč ty Mojžíši a Arone, odtrhujete lid od prací jejich? Jděte k robotám svým. 5 Řekl také Farao: Hle, již nyní mnoho jest lidu toho v zemi, a vy odvozujete je od robot jejich. 6 I přikázal Farao v ten den úředníkům nad lidem a šafářům jeho, řka: 7 Nedávejte již více slámy lidu k dělání cihel jako prvé; nechať jdou sami a sbírají sobě slámu. 8 Však touž summu cihel, kterouž udělávali prvé, uložte na ně, nic neujímejte z ní; neboť zahálejí, a protož volají, řkouce: Poďme, obětujme Bohu našemu. 9 Nechť se přitíží robot mužům těm; a nechť pracují v nich, aby se neohlédali na slova lživá. 10 Vyšedše tedy úředníci nad lidem a šafáři jeho, mluvili k lidu, řkouce: Takto praví Farao: Já nebudu vám dávati slámy. 11 Sami jděte, beřte sobě slámu, kdekoli naleznete; ale nic nebude ujato díla vašeho. 12 I rozběhl se lid po vší zemi Egyptské, aby trhal strniště místo slámy. 13 A úředníci nutili je, řkouce: Vyplňte díla svá, úkol denní v den jeho, jako když sláma byla. 14 I biti jsou šafáři synů Izraelských, kteréž ustanovili nad nimi úředníci Faraonovi, a mluveno k nim: Proč jste nevyplnili úkolu svého v díle cihel, jako prvé, ani včera ani dnes? 15 I přišli šafáři synů Izraelských, a volali k Faraonovi, řkouce: Proč tak děláš služebníkům svým? 16 Slámy se nedává služebníkům tvým, a říkají nám: Dělejte cihly; a hle, služebníci tvoji biti bývají, a hřeší lid tvůj. 17 I řekl: Zahálíte, zahálíte, a protož mluvíte: Poďme, obětujme Hospodinu. 18 Protož nyní jděte, dělejte; slámy se vám dávati nebude, ale vy summu cihel vyplňujte. 19 Vidouce šafáři synů Izraelských, že zle s nimi, poněvadž řečeno: Neujmete počtu cihel vašich z úkolu denního v den jeho, 20 Potkali se s Mojžíšem a Aronem, kteříž stáli, aby jim vstříc vyšli, když by se vraceli od Faraona. 21 A mluvili jim: Pohlediž Hospodin na vás, a suď; nebo zošklivili jste nás před Faraonem a služebníky jeho, a dali jste meč v ruku jejich, aby nás zamordovali. 22 I navrátil se Mojžíš k Hospodinu a řekl: Pane, proč jsi tyto zlé věci uvedl na lid tento? Proč jsi mne sem poslal? 23 Nebo od té chvíle, jakž jsem všel k Faraonovi, abych mluvil jménem tvým, hůře nakládá s lidem tímto, a ty jsi vždy nevysvobodil lidu svého.

1 Mojžíš s Áronem pak předstoupili před faraóna a řekli: „Toto praví Hospodin, Bůh Izraele: Propusť můj lid, ať mi v poušti slaví slavnost“ 2 Farao však odpověděl: „Kdo je Hospodin, že bych ho měl uposlechnout a propustit Izraele? Hospodina neznám a Izraele nepropustím!“ 3 Řekli: „Potkal se s námi Bůh Hebrejů. Dovol nám nyní odejít do pouště na vzdálenost tří dnů cesty a přinést oběť Hospodinu, našemu Bohu, aby nás nenapadl morem nebo mečem.“ 4 Egyptský král je okřikl: „Proč, Mojžíši a Árone, odvádíte lid od jeho prací? Jděte za svými robotami!“ 5 A farao pokračoval: „Hle, lidu země je teď mnoho, a vy chcete, aby nechali svých robot?“ 6 Onoho dne přikázal farao poháněčům lidu a dozorcům: 7 „Propříště nebudete vydávat lidu slámu k výrobě cihel jako dříve. Ať si jdou slámu nasbírat sami! 8 A uložíte jim dodat stejné množství cihel, jaké vyráběli dříve. Nic jim neslevujte, jsou líní. Proto křičí: Pojďme obětovat svému Bohu. 9 Ať na ty muže těžce dolehne otročina, aby měli co dělat a nedali na lživé řeči.“ 10 Poháněči lidu a dozorci vyšli a ohlásili lidu: „Toto praví farao: Nedám vám žádnou slámu. 11 Sami si jděte nabrat slámu, kde ji najdete. Ale z vaší pracovní povinnosti se nic nesleví.“ 12 Lid se rozběhl po celé egyptské zemi, aby na strništích sbíral slámu. 13 Poháněči je honili: „Plňte svůj denní úkol, jako když sláma byla.“ 14 Dozorci z řad Izraelců, které nad nimi ustanovili faraónovi poháněči, byli biti. Sláma vám dodávána nebude, ale dodávku cihel odvedete.“ 19 Dozorci z řad Izraelců viděli, že je s nimi zle, když bylo řečeno: „Nesmíte snížit svůj denní úkol výroby cihel.“ 20 Když vycházeli od faraóna, narazili na Mojžíše a Árona, kteří se s nimi chtěli setkat. 21 Vyčítali jim: „Ať se nad vámi ukáže Hospodin a rozsoudí. Vy jste pokáleli naši pověst u faraóna a jeho služebníků. Dali jste jim do ruky meč, aby nás povraždili.“ 22 Mojžíš se obrátil k Hospodinu a řekl: „Panovníku, proč jsi dopustil na tento lid zlo? Proč jsi mě vlastně poslal? 23 Od chvíle, kdy jsem předstoupil před faraóna, abych mluvil tvým jménem, nakládá s tímto lidem ještě hůře. A ty svůj lid stále nevysvobozuješ.“

Kdo je to ten Hospodin?

1 Mojžíš s Áronem tedy šli k faraonovi a řekli mu: „Takto praví Hospodin, Bůh Izraele: Propusť můj lid, aby mi konali slavnost na poušti!“ 2 Farao odpověděl: „Kdo je to ten Hospodin, že bych ho měl poslechnout a propustit Izrael? Žádného Hospodina neznám a Izrael nepropustím!“ 3 Řekli tedy: „Setkal se s námi Bůh Hebrejů. Prosím, dovol nám vydat se na třídenní cestu do pouště, abychom tam obětovali Hospodinu, našemu Bohu, aby nás snad nepostihl morem nebo mečem.“ 4 Egyptský král ale vykřikl: „Mojžíši a Árone, proč odvádíte lid od práce? Zpátky k vašim robotám!“ 5 Farao pokračoval: „Jen se podívejte, jak se ta cháska v zemi rozmnožila – a vy je chcete zdržovat od roboty?!“ 6 Ještě týž den farao přikázal biřicům a dozorcům lidu: 7 „Nedávejte jim už k výrobě cihel slámu jako dosud. Ať si ji jdou sbírat sami! 8 Požadujte ale od nich stejné množství cihel, jako vyráběli dosud. Nic jim neslevujte, vždyť zahálejí. To proto vykřikují: ‚Pojďme obětovat našemu Bohu!‘ 9 Zavalte ty mužské dřinou, ať mají co dělat a přestanou poslouchat báchorky!“ 10 Biřici a dozorci tedy vyšli a řekli lidu: „Tak praví farao: Nebudu vám dávat slámu. 11 Jděte si ji sbírat, kde chcete, ale z práce, kterou musíte odvést, se nic nesleví!“ 12 A tak se lid rozběhl po celé egyptské zemi, aby na strništích paběrkoval slámu. 13 Biřici je poháněli: „Odveďte svou práci – stejný denní úkol, jako když byla sláma!“ 14 Izraelští předáci, ustanovení faraonovými biřici, byli biti a vyslýcháni: „Proč jste včera ani dnes nevyrobili stanovené množství cihel jako dříve?!“ 15 Izraelští předáci tedy přišli a úpěli k faraonovi: „Proč takto nakládáš se svými služebníky? 16 Tvoji služebníci nedostávají slámu, a přitom se nám říká: ‚Dělejte cihly!‘ Pohleď, tvoji služebníci jsou biti, ale na vině jsou tví lidé!“ 17 Farao zvolal: „Zahálíte, nemáte co dělat, a tak říkáte: ‚Pojďme obětovat Hospodinu.‘ 18 Hned se vraťte k práci! Sláma se vám dávat nebude, ale odvedete stejný počet cihel!“ 19 Izraelští předáci viděli, že je s nimi zle. Museli totiž říkat: „Ať z vašich denních odvodů nechybí ani cihla!“ 20 Cestou od faraona potkali Mojžíše a Árona, kteří jim tam přišli naproti. 21 Předáci jim řekli: „Ať na vás Hospodin pohlédne a soudí! Zošklivili jste nás faraonovi i jeho dvořanům; dali jste jim do rukou meč, kterým nás zahubí!“

22 Mojžíš se obrátil na Hospodina. „Pane můj,“ ptal se, „proč tento lid tak trápíš? Proč jsi mě sem vůbec poslal? 23 Od chvíle, kdy jsem přišel, abych tvým jménem mluvil k faraonovi, se lidu vede ještě hůř, a ty svůj lid vůbec nevysvobozuješ!“

Erfolglose Verhandlungen mit dem Pharao

1 Danach gingen Mose und Aaron zum Pharao und sagten: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Lass mein Volk ziehen, damit sie mir in der Wüste ein Fest feiern können! 2 Der Pharao erwiderte: Wer ist der HERR, dass ich auf ihn hören und Israel ziehen lassen sollte? Ich kenne den HERRN nicht und denke auch nicht daran, Israel ziehen zu lassen. 3 Da sagten sie: Der Gott der Hebräer ist uns begegnet und jetzt wollen wir drei Tagesmärsche weit in die Wüste ziehen und dem HERRN, unserem Gott, Schlachtopfer darbringen, damit er uns nicht mit Pest oder Schwert straft. 4 Der König von Ägypten entgegnete ihnen: Warum, Mose und Aaron, wollt ihr die Leute zum Nichtstun verleiten? Fort mit euch, tut euren Frondienst! 5 Der Pharao fuhr fort: So viele Leute sind jetzt im Land und ihr wollt sie vom Frondienst abhalten? 6 Am selben Tag noch gab der Pharao den Antreibern der Leute und den Listenführern die Anweisung: 7 Gebt den Leuten nicht mehr, wie bisher, Stroh zum Ziegelmachen! Sie sollen selber gehen und sich Stroh besorgen. 8 Legt ihnen aber das gleiche Soll an Ziegeln auf, das sie bisher erfüllen mussten! Lasst ihnen davon nichts nach! Denn sie sind faul und deshalb schreien sie: Wir wollen gehen und unserem Gott Schlachtopfer darbringen. 9 Erschwert man den Leuten die Arbeit, dann sind sie beschäftigt und kümmern sich nicht um leeres Geschwätz. 10 Da gingen die Antreiber der Leute und die Listenführer zu den Leuten und sagten: So spricht der Pharao: Ich gebe euch kein Stroh mehr. 11 Geht selbst und besorgt euch Stroh, wo ihr es findet! Von eurem Arbeitssoll aber wird euch nichts erlassen. 12 Die Leute verteilten sich also über ganz Ägypten, um sich Stroh zu besorgen. 13 Die Antreiber drängten und sagten: Ihr müsst euer tägliches Soll erfüllen wie bisher, als euch noch Stroh geliefert wurde. 14 Die Antreiber des Pharao schlugen die israelitischen Listenführer, die sie eingesetzt hatten, und sagten: Warum habt ihr heute nicht wie neulich noch das festgesetzte Soll an Ziegeln erfüllt? 15 Da gingen die israelitischen Listenführer zum Pharao und erhoben vor ihm Klage: Warum tust du deinen Sklaven das an? 16 Man gibt deinen Sklaven kein Stroh, aber man sagt uns: Macht Ziegel! Schau, man hat deine Sklaven geschlagen; die Schuld aber liegt bei deinen Leuten. 17 Er entgegnete: Faul seid ihr, faul. Nur deshalb sagt ihr: Wir wollen gehen und dem HERRN Schlachtopfer darbringen. 18 Jetzt aber fort mit euch und tut eure Arbeit! Stroh bekommt ihr nicht, aber euer Soll an Ziegeln müsst ihr erfüllen. 19 Da sahen sich die israelitischen Listenführer in einer üblen Lage, weil man ihnen sagte: Nichts von eurem täglichen Soll an Ziegeln wird euch erlassen. 20 Als sie vom Pharao kamen, stießen sie auf Mose und Aaron, die ihnen entgegenkamen. 21 Die Listenführer sagten zu ihnen: Der HERR soll euch erscheinen und euch richten; denn ihr habt uns beim Pharao und seinen Dienern in Verruf gebracht und ihnen ein Schwert in die Hand gegeben, mit dem sie uns umbringen können. 22 Da wandte sich Mose an den HERRN und sagte: Mein Herr, wozu behandelst du dieses Volk so schlecht? Wozu hast du mich denn gesandt? 23 Seit ich zum Pharao gegangen bin, um in deinem Namen zu reden, behandelt er dieses Volk noch schlechter, aber du hast dein Volk nicht gerettet.

Making Bricks Without Straw

1 Afterward Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’” (Ex 10,9) 2 But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and moreover, I will not let Israel go.” (Ex 3,19; 2Kr 18,35; Jb 21,15) 3 Then they said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. 4 But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you take the people away from their work? No straw will be given you, but you must still deliver the same number of bricks.” 19 The foremen of the people of Israel saw that they were in trouble when they said, “You shall by no means reduce your number of bricks, your daily task each day.” 20 They met Moses and Aaron, who were waiting for them, as they came out from Pharaoh; 21 and they said to them, “The Lord look on you and judge, because you have made us stink in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants, and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.” (Ex 6,9) 22 Then Moses turned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have you done evil to this people? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go. 3 And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days'journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. 4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens. 5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens. 6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, 7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. 8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God. 9 Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words. 10 And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw. 11 Go ye, get you straw where ye can find it: yet not ought of your work shall be diminished. 12 So the people were scattered abroad throughout all the land of Egypt to gather stubble instead of straw. 13 And the taskmasters hasted them , saying, Fulfil your works, your daily tasks, as when there was straw. 14 And the officers of the children of Israel, which Pharaoh' taskmasters had set over them, were beaten, and demanded, Wherefore have ye not fulfilled your task in making brick both yesterday and to day, as heretofore? 15 Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants? 16 There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people. 17 But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the LORD. 18 Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks. 19 And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case , after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task. 20 And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh: 21 And they said unto them, The LORD look upon you, and judge; because ye have made our savour to be abhorred in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of his servants, to put a sword in their hand to slay us. 22 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me? 23 For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath done evil to this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all.
