1 Jestliže by kdo ukradl vola aneb dobytče, a zabil by je neb prodal: pět volů navrátí za toho vola, a čtvero dobytčat za to dobytče. 2 (Jestliže by zloděj zastižen byl při podkopávání a ubit jsa, umřel by: ten, kdo ho ranil, nebude vinen smrtí. 3 Pakli by to ve dne učinil, smrtí vinen bude.) Bez prodlévání ať navrátí; pakli nemá co, prodán bude pro zlodějství své. 4 Jestliže nalezena bude v rukou jeho krádež, buď vůl, neb osel, buď dobytče ještě živé, dvénásobně navrátí. 5 Jestliže by kdo spásl pole neb vinici, a vpustil hovado své, aby se páslo na cizím poli: což nejlepšího má na poli svém neb vinici své, tím tu škodu nahradí. 6 Vyšel-li by oheň, a chytilo by se trní, a shořel by stoh neb stojaté obilí neb pole: nahradí ten, kdož zapálil, to, což shořelo. 7 Kdyby někdo dal schovati bližnímu svému peníze neb nádoby, a bylo by ukradeno z domu muže toho, jestliže nalezen bude zloděj, dvojnásobně navrátí. 8 Pakli nebude zloděj nalezen, tedy postaven bude pán domu toho před soudce, a přisáhne, že nevztáhl ruky své na věc bližního svého. 9 O všelijakou věc, o niž by byla nesnáz, buď o vola neb osla, dobytče neb roucho, pro všelikou věc ztracenou, když by kdo pravil, že to jest: před soudce přijde pře obou dvou; ten, kohož oni vinného usoudí, dvojnásobně navrátí bližnímu svému. 10 Jestliže by kdo dal bližnímu svému k chování osla neb vola, neb dobytče a jakékoli hovado, a umřelo by neb ochromělo, neb zajato bylo, že žádný neviděl: 11 Přísaha Hospodinova vkročí mezi oba, že nevztáhl ruky své k věci bližního svého; a přijme jej v tom pán věci té, a onen nebude povinen navraceti. 12 Pakli by krádeží vzato bylo od něho, navrátiti zase má pánu jeho. 13 Pakli by udáveno bylo, postaví svědka a nebude povinen upláceti toho, což udáveno jest. 14 Kdyby pak někdo vypůjčil něčeho od bližního svého, a ochromělo by aneb umřelo v nepřítomnosti pána jeho, bez výmluvy navrátí zase. 15 Pakli by pán jeho byl s ním, není povinen platiti, poněvadž bylo za peníze najaté, a přišlo za mzdu svou. 16 Jestliže by kdo namluvil pannu, kteráž není zasnoubena, a spal by s ní: dáť jí věno, a vezme ji sobě za manželku. 17 Pakli by otec její nikoli nechtěl jí dáti jemu, odváží stříbra podlé obyčeje věna panenského. 18 Čarodějnici nedáš živu býti. 19 Kdo by koli scházel se s hovadem, smrtí ať umře. 20 Kdo by obětoval bohům, kromě samému Hospodinu, jako proklatý vyhlazen bude. 21 Příchozímu neučiníš křivdy, aniž utiskneš ho; nebo příchozí byli jste v zemi Egyptské. 22 Žádné vdovy neb sirotka trápiti nebudete. 23 Pakli bez lítosti trápiti je budete, a oni by volali ke mně, vězte, že vyslyším křik jejich. 24 A rozhněvá se prchlivost má, i zbiji vás mečem; a budou ženy vaše vdovy a děti vaši sirotci. 25 Půjčíš-li peněz lidu mému chudému, kterýž jest s tebou: nebudeš jemu jako lichevník, aniž ho lichvou obtížíš. 26 Pakli v základu vezmeš roucho bližního svého, do západu slunce jemu je navrátíš. 27 Nebo ten jediný má oděv, to jest roucho, jímž přikrývá tělo své, a na němž spí. Když bude volati ke mně, tedy uslyším, nebo jsem milosrdný. 28 Soudcům nebudeš utrhati, a knížeti lidu svého zlořečiti nebudeš. 29 Z hojnosti obilí, a tekutých věcí svých neobmeškáš prvotin obětovati. Prvorozeného z synů svých mně dáš. 30 Tak učiníš s volem svým a s dobytkem svým: Sedm dní bude s matkou svou, dne pak osmého mně je dáš. 31 Lid svatý budete mi, a nebudete jísti masa z udáveného na poli; psu je vržete.

— Krádeže a zpronevěry - Při trestech za krádeže a zpronevěry se přihlíží k okolnostem, za nichž byl čin spáchán.

1 Jestliže je zloděj přistižen při vloupání a je zbit, takže zemře, nebude lpět krev na tom, kdo ho ubil. 2 Jestliže se to však stane po východu slunce, krev na něm bude lpět. Zloděj musí poskytnout plnou náhradu. Jestliže nic nemá, bude prodán za hodnotu ukradeného. 3 Jestliže se u něho vskutku nalezne to, co ukradl, živé, ať je to býk či osel nebo ovce, poskytne dvojnásobnou náhradu. 4 Když někdo nechá spást cizí pole nebo vinici tím, že pustí svůj dobytek, aby se pásl na jiném poli, poskytne náhradu z nejlepšího, co je na jeho poli a na jeho vinici. 5 Když vypukne oheň a zachvátí trní a sežehne požaté nebo ještě stojící obilí nebo pole, poskytne ten, kdo požár zavinil, plnou náhradu. 6 Když někdo svěří svému bližnímu k opatrování stříbro nebo předměty a ty budou z domu toho muže ukradeny, poskytne zloděj, bude-li přistižen, dvojnásobnou náhradu. 7 Jestliže zloděj nebude přistižen, bude majitel toho domu předveden před Boha, zda sám nevztáhl ruku po výtěžku práce svého bližního. 8 Ve všech majetkových přestupcích, ať jde o býka, osla, ovci, plášť či cokoli ztraceného, o čem někdo řekne: „To je ono,“ přijde záležitost obou před Boha; koho Bůh označí jako svévolníka, ten poskytne svému bližnímu dvojnásobnou náhradu. 9 Když někdo někomu svěří do opatrování osla, býka, ovci nebo jakékoli dobytče a ono pojde nebo utrpí úraz nebo bude odehnáno, aniž to kdo viděl, 10 rozhodne mezi oběma přísaha při Hospodinu, že nevztáhl ruku po výtěžku práce svého bližního; majitel zvířete to přijme a druhý nemusí poskytnout náhradu. 11 Jestliže mu však bylo skutečně ukradeno, poskytne majiteli náhradu. 12 Jestliže bylo vskutku rozsápáno, přinese je na svědectví; za rozsápané náhradu poskytovat nebude.

— Různá provinění - Správný vztah k Bohu se nutně projeví i ve vztahu k člověku. Za odpadnutí od Hospodina je stanoven trest smrti.

13 Když si někdo vyžádá od svého bližního dobytče a ono utrpí úraz nebo uhyne, poskytne plnou náhradu, nebyl-li majitel přítomen. 14 Jestliže majitel byl přítomen, nemusí poskytnout náhradu; jde-li o námezdného dělníka, jde škoda na vrub jeho mzdy. 15 Když někdo svede pannu, která nebyla zasnoubena, a vyspí se s ní, vezme si ji za ženu a dá za ni plné věno. 16 Jestliže by se její otec rozhodně zdráhal mu ji dát, zaplatí svůdce obnos ve výši věna panen. 17 Čarodějnici nenecháš naživu. 18 Kdokoli by obcoval s dobytčetem, musí zemřít. 19 Kdo by obětoval bohům a ne samotnému Hospodinu, propadne klatbě. 20 Hostu nebudeš škodit ani ho utlačovat, neboť i vy jste byli hosty v egyptské zemi. 21 Žádnou vdovu a sirotka nebudete utiskovat. 22 Jestliže je přece budeš utiskovat a oni budou ke mně úpět, jistě jejich úpění vyslyším. 23 Vzplanu hněvem a pobiji vás mečem, takže z vašich žen budou vdovy a z vašich synů sirotci. 24 Jestliže půjčíš stříbro někomu z mého lidu, zchudlému, který je s tebou, nebudeš se k němu chovat jako lichvář, neuložíš mu úrok. 25 Jestliže se rozhodneš vzít do zástavy plášť svého bližního, do západu slunce mu jej vrátíš, 26 neboť jeho plášť, kterým si chrání tělo, je jeho jedinou přikrývkou. V čem by spal? Stane se, že bude ke mně úpět a já ho vyslyším, poněvadž jsem milostivý. 27 Nebudeš zlořečit Bohu ani nebudeš proklínat předáka ve svém lidu. 28 Neopozdíš se s dávkami z hojnosti svých úrod a vylisované šťávy svých hroznů a oliv. Dáš mi prvorozeného ze svých synů. 29 Se svým skotem a bravem naložíš tak, že zůstane sedm dní u matky, osmého dne jej dáš mně. 30 Buďte mými muži svatými. Maso zvířete rozsápaného na poli nebudete jíst, hodíte je psovi.

Majitel přísahu přijme a k náhradě nedojde. 11 Jestliže to však bylo ukradeno, majitel dostane náhradu. 12 Jestliže bylo rozsápáno, ať přinesou důkaz; rozsápané se nahrazovat nebude. 13 Když si někdo od svého bližního vypůjčí zvíře a ono zchromne nebo pojde, když u toho nebude jeho majitel, musí je nahradit. 14 Jestliže u toho majitel bude, k náhradě nedojde. Jestliže bylo najaté, je to zahrnuto v ceně.“

15 „Když někdo svede nezasnoubenou pannu a vyspí se s ní, musí za ni zaplatit věno a vzít si ji za ženu. 16 Jestliže mu ji dívčin otec odmítne dát, musí mu svůdce odvážit stříbro ve výši panenského věna. 17 Čarodějnici nenech naživu. 18 Kdokoli by obcoval se zvířetem, musí zemřít. 19 Kdo by obětoval jakýmkoli bohům kromě samotného Hospodina, propadne klatbě. 20 Přistěhovalci neubližuj ani ho neutiskuj – vždyť jste sami byli přistěhovalci v Egyptě! 21 Nikdy neubližuj vdově ani sirotku. 22 Budeš-li jim nelítostně ubližovat, věz, že ke mně budou volat a já jejich volání jistě vyslyším. 23 Vzplanu hněvem a pobiji vás mečem, takže z vašich žen budou vdovy a z vašich dětí sirotci. 24 Jestliže půjčíš peníze někomu z mého lidu, chudákovi, který je s tebou, nechovej se k němu jako lichvář, neukládej mu úrok. 25 Jestliže vezmeš do zástavy plášť svého bližního, vrať mu ho do západu slunce. 26 Vždyť je to jeho jediná přikrývka, tím pláštěm přikrývá svou nahotu! V čem by spal? Až ke mně bude volat, vyslyším jej, neboť jsem milostivý. 27 Nerouhej se Bohu a vůdci svého lidu nespílej. 28 Neváhej se podělit o úrodu, o víno a olej ze svého lisu. Svého prvorozeného syna odevzdej mně. 29 Právě tak nalož se svým skotem a bravem: sedm dní zůstane u matky, osmého dne jej dáš mně. 30 Buďte pro mě svatí. Nejezte maso zvířete rozsápaného na poli. Hoďte je psu.“

1 Wird ein Dieb beim Einbruch ertappt und so geschlagen, dass er stirbt, so entsteht dadurch keine Blutschuld. 2 Doch ist darüber bereits die Sonne aufgegangen, dann entsteht Blutschuld. Ein Dieb muss Ersatz leisten. Besitzt er nichts, soll man ihn für den Wert des Gestohlenen verkaufen. 3 Findet man das Gestohlene, sei es Rind, Esel oder Schaf, noch lebend in seinem Besitz, dann soll er doppelten Ersatz leisten. 4 Wenn jemand ein Feld oder einen Weinberg abweiden lässt und lässt sein Vieh frei laufen, sodass es das Feld eines anderen abweidet, dann soll er den besten Ertrag seines Feldes oder Weinbergs als Ersatz dafür geben. 5 Breitet sich das Feuer aus, erfasst es eine Dornenhecke und vernichtet einen Getreidehaufen, auf dem Halm stehendes Getreide oder ein Feld, dann soll der für den Brand Verantwortliche den Schaden ersetzen. 6 Übergibt jemand einem andern Geld oder Gerät zur Aufbewahrung und es wird aus dessen Haus gestohlen, dann soll der Dieb, wenn man ihn findet, doppelten Ersatz leisten. 7 Findet man den Dieb nicht, soll der Hausherr vor Gott erklären, dass er sich nicht selbst am Eigentum des andern vergriffen hat. 8 Wenn jemandem etwas veruntreut wurde, ein Rind, ein Esel, ein Schaf, ein Kleid oder sonst etwas, und er behauptet: Ja, das ist es, dann soll der Streitfall der beiden vor Gott kommen. 15 Wenn jemand ein noch nicht verlobtes Mädchen verführt und bei ihm schläft, dann soll er das Brautgeld zahlen und sie zur Frau nehmen. 16 Weigert sich aber ihr Vater, sie ihm zu geben, dann hat er ihm so viel zu zahlen, wie der Brautpreis für eine Jungfrau beträgt.

Todeswürdige Verbrechen

17 Eine Zauberin sollst du nicht am Leben lassen. 18 Jeder, der mit einem Tier verkehrt, hat den Tod verdient. 19 Wer einer Gottheit außer dem HERRN Schlachtopfer darbringt, soll dem Bann verfallen.

Verbot der Ausbeutung von Schwachen

20 Einen Fremden sollst du nicht ausnützen oder ausbeuten, denn ihr selbst seid im Land Ägypten Fremde gewesen. 21 Ihr sollt keine Witwe oder Waise ausnützen. 22 Wenn du sie ausnützt und sie zu mir schreit, werde ich auf ihren Klageschrei hören. 23 Mein Zorn wird entbrennen und ich werde euch mit dem Schwert umbringen, sodass eure Frauen zu Witwen und eure Söhne zu Waisen werden. 24 Leihst du einem aus meinem Volk, einem Armen, der neben dir wohnt, Geld, dann sollst du dich gegen ihn nicht wie ein Gläubiger benehmen. 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep. 2 If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him. 3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. 4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double. 5 If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man' field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution. 6 If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith ; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution. 7 If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man' house; if the thief be found, let him pay double. 8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods. 9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour. 10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it : 11 Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof , and he shall not make it good. 12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof. 13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn. 14 And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good. 15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing , it came for his hire. 16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. 17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins. 18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. 19 Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death. 20 He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. 21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. 22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. 23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry; 24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. 25 If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury. 26 If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down: 27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious. 28 Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people. 29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me. 30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me. 31 And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
