1 Opět přišli Zifejští k Saulovi do Gabaa, řkouce: Nevíš-liž, že se David kryje na pahrbku Hachila proti poušti? 2 Protož povstal Saul a táhl na poušť Zif, a s ním tři tisíce mužů vybraných z Izraele, aby hledal Davida na poušti Zif. 3 I položil se Saul na pahrbku Hachila, kterýž jest proti Jesimon při cestě. David pak trvaje na poušti, srozuměl, že Saul za ním přitáhl na poušť. 4 Nebo poslav David špehéře, vyzvěděl jistotně, že Saul přitáhl. 5 Tedy vstav David, šel k místu, na němž se položil Saul s vojskem. I spatřil David místo, na kterémž ležel Saul a Abner syn Nerův, hejtman vojska jeho. Saul pak spal, jsa vozy otočen, lid také ležení svá měl vůkol něho. 6 I mluvil David a řekl Achimelechovi Hetejskému a Abizai synu Sarvie, bratru Joábovu, řka: Kdo sstoupí se mnou k Saulovi do ležení? Odpověděl Abizai: Já sstoupím s tebou. 7 A tak přišel David a Abizai k lidu v noci, a aj, Saul leže, spal, jsa vozy otočen, a kopí jeho vetknuté bylo v zemi u hlavy jeho, Abner pak i lid spali vůkol něho. 8 Tedy řekl Abizai Davidovi: Dalť Bůh dnes nepřítele tvého v ruku tvou. Protož nyní, medle nechť jej probodnu pojednou kopím až do země, tak že nebude potřebí podruhé. 9 Ale David řekl k Abizai: Nezabíjej ho; nebo kdo vztáhna ruku svou na pomazaného Hospodinova, byl by bez viny? 10 Řekl také David: Živť jest Hospodin, leč Hospodin raní jej, aneb den jeho přijde, aby umřel, aneb na vojnu vytáhna, zahyne: 11 Mně nedej Hospodin, abych vztáhnouti měl ruku svou na pomazaného Hospodinova. Ale nyní vezmi medle to kopí, kteréž jest u hlavy jeho, a tu číši vodnou, a odejděme. 12 I vzal David kopí a číši vodnou u hlavy Saulovy, a odešli, tak že žádný neviděl, ani nezvěděl, ani neprocítil, ale všickni spali; nebo sen tvrdý Hospodinův připadl byl na ně. 13 A přešed David na druhou stranu, postavil se na vrchu hory zdaleka; nebo bylo mezi nimi nemalé místo. 14 I zavolal David na lid a na Abnera syna Ner, řka: Což se neozveš, Abner? Odpovídaje pak Abner, řekl: Kdo jsi ty, kterýž voláš na krále? 15 I řekl David Abnerovi: Zdaliž ty nejsi muž? A kdo jest tobě rovný v Izraeli? Proč jsi tedy neostříhal krále, pána svého? Nebo přišel jeden z lidu, aby zabil krále, pána tvého. 16 Neníť to dobře, co jsi učinil. Živť jest Hospodin, že jste hodni smrti, proto že neostříháte pána svého, pomazaného Hospodinova. Ale nyní pohleď, kde jest kopí královo a číše vodná, kteráž byla u hlavy jeho. 17 Tedy poznal Saul hlas Davidův a řekl: Není-liž to hlas tvůj, synu můj Davide? Odpověděl David: Jest můj hlas, pane můj králi. 18 Řekl také: Proč je to, že pán můj honí služebníka svého? Nebo co jsem učinil? A co jest zlého v ruce mé? 19 Protož nyní poslyš, prosím, pane můj králi, slov služebníka svého: Jestliže tě Hospodin vzbudil proti mně, nechť zachutná obět, pakli lidé, zlořečení jsou před Hospodinem; nebo mne vyhnali dnes, abych nemohl obcovati dědictví Hospodinovu, jako by řekli: Jdi, služ bohům cizím. 20 Ale již aspoň nechť není vylita krev má na zemi bez rozsouzení Hospodinova; nebo vytáhl král Izraelský hledati blechy jedné, rovně jako by honil koroptvu na horách. 21 I řekl Saul: Zhřešilť jsem, navratiž se, synu můj Davide. Neboť nebudu více zle činiti tobě, proto že jsi draze sobě vážil života mého dnešní den. Aj, bláznivě jsem dělal a bloudil přenáramně. 22 A odpovídaje David, řekl: Teď hle kopí královo. Nechť přijde někdo z služebníků, a vezme je. 23 Hospodin pak navratiž jednomu každému za spravedlnost jeho a věrnost jeho. Daltě byl zajisté Hospodin tebe dnes v ruku mou, ale nechtělť jsem vztáhnouti ruky své na pomazaného Hospodinova. 24 A protož jakož jsem já dnes sobě draze vážil života tvého, tak budiž draze vážen život můj před Hospodinem, aby mne vysvobodil ze vší úzkosti. 25 Tedy řekl Saul Davidovi: Požehnaný jsi, synu můj Davide. Tak čině, dokážeš ctnosti, a v tom se zmocňuje, zkvetneš. V tom odšel David cestou svou, Saul také navrátil se k místu svému.

1 Zífejci přišli říci Saulovi do Gibeje: „David se přece skrývá na pahorku Chakíle naproti poušti Ješímónu.“ 2 Saul hned sestoupil do pouště Zífu se třemi tisíci muži vybranými z Izraele, aby v poušti Zífu hledal Davida. 3 Saul se utábořil na pahorku Chakíle, který je při cestě naproti poušti Ješímónu. David, který se usadil v poušti, viděl, že Saul přitáhl do pouště za ním. 4 David totiž vyslal zvědy a zjistil, že Saul opravdu přitáhl. 5 Odebral se tedy na místo, kde se Saul utábořil. David uviděl místo, kde ležel Saul i Abnér, syn Nérův, velitel jeho vojska. Saul spal v ležení a lid tábořil kolem něho. 6 David vyzval Chetejce Achímeleka a Abíšaje, syna Serújina, bratra Jóabova: „Kdo se mnou sestoupí k Saulovi do tábora?“ Abíšaj řekl: „Já s tebou sestoupím.“ 7 Tak vnikl David s Abíšajem v noci mezi lid, a hle, Saul leží, spí v ležení a jeho kopí je zabodnuto do země v hlavách lože; Abnér a lid leželi kolem něho. 8 Abíšaj řekl Davidovi: „Bůh ti dnes vydal do rukou tvého nepřítele. Teď dovol, ať ho jedinou ranou přirazím kopím k zemi, druhé rány nebude třeba.“ 9 David však Abíšajovi řekl: „Neodpravuj ho! Vždyť kdo vztáhne ruku na Hospodinova pomazaného a zůstane bez trestu?“ 10 David dále řekl: „Jakože živ je Hospodin, jistě jej Hospodin zasáhne; buď nadejde jeho den, kdy zemře, anebo odejde do boje a bude smeten. 11 Chraň mě však Hospodin, abych vztáhl ruku na Hospodinova pomazaného. Vezmi tady to kopí, které má v hlavách, i džbánek na vodu a odejděme.“ 12 David vzal kopí a džbánek na vodu od hlav Saulova lože a odešli. Nikdo nic neviděl, nikdo nic nevěděl, nikdo se neprobudil, všichni spali; padla na ně mrákota od Hospodina. 13 David pak přešel na protilehlou stranu, postavil se na vrchol hory vpovzdálí, takže mezi nimi byl značný prostor. 14 David zavolal na lid a na Abnéra, syna Nérova: „Jestlipak odpovíš, Abnére?“ Abnér se ozval: „Kdo jsi, že voláš na krále?“ 15 David Abnérovi řekl: „Jsi přece muž. Kdo je ti v Izraeli roven? Proč jsi nestřežil krále, svého pána? Někdo z lidu přišel krále, tvého pána, odpravit. 16 Nepočínal sis dobře. Jakože živ je Hospodin, jste syny smrti, protože jste nestřežili svého pána, Hospodinova pomazaného. Podívej se teď, kde je královo kopí a džbánek na vodu, který měl v hlavách!“ 17 Saul poznal po hlase Davida. Otázal se: „Je to tvůj hlas, můj synu Davide?“ David řekl: „Je to můj hlas, králi, můj pane.“ 18 Dále řekl: „Proč vlastně můj pán pronásleduje svého otroka? Vždyť čeho jsem se dopustil? Co je na mně zlého? 19 Nechť nyní král, můj pán, vyslechne slova svého otroka. Jestli tě proti mně podněcuje Hospodin, nechť přijme vůni obětního daru. Jestli však lidé, ať jsou prokleti před Hospodinem. Vždyť mě dnes zapudili, abych se nemohl podílet na Hospodinově dědictví, jako by řekli: ‚Jdi sloužit jiným bohům.‘ 20 Kéž má krev nevyteče na zem daleko od Hospodinovy tváře. Vždyť izraelský král vytáhl, aby hledal pouhou blechu, jako by honil po horách koroptev.“ 21 Saul na to řekl: „Zhřešil jsem. Vrať se, můj synu Davide. Nic zlého ti už neudělám, protože sis dnes cenil mého života. Počínal jsem si jako pomatenec, převelice jsem chybil.“ 22 David odpověděl: „Tu je královo kopí. Ať sem přijde někdo z družiny a odnese je. 23 Hospodin odplatí každému za jeho spravedlnost a věrnost. Hospodin tě dnes vydal do mých rukou, ale já jsem nechtěl na Hospodinova pomazaného vztáhnout ruku. 24 Hle, jaký význam jsem dnes přikládal tvému životu, takový význam ať přikládá Hospodin životu mému a vysvobodí mne z každé úzkosti!“ 25 Saul Davidovi pravil: „Buď požehnán, můj synu Davide! Jistě mnoho vykonáš a dokážeš.“ David pak šel svou cestou a Saul se vrátil ke svému místu.

Nedotknu se pomazaného

1 Za Saulem do Gibeje znovu přišli Zifejci: „David se přece ukrývá na kopci Chakila před Ješimonem.“ 2 Saul se tedy se třemi tisíci mužů vybraných z Izraele vypravil na poušť Zif, aby tam Davida hledali. 3 Saul se utábořil u cesty na kopci Chakila před Ješimonem. Saul ležel uprostřed tábora obklopen vojskem ze všech stran. 6 David se pak zeptal Chetejce Achimelecha a Cerujina syna Abišaje, bratra Joábova: „Kdo se mnou půjde k Saulovi do tábora?“ „Já s tebou půjdu,“ odpověděl Abišaj. 7 David s Abišajem tedy vešli v noci do vojska a hle – Saul spal uprostřed ležení a kopí měl zaražené do země hned u hlavy. Abner a ostatní spali okolo. 8 „Dnes ti Bůh vydal tvého nepřítele do rukou,“ řekl Abišaj Davidovi. „Dovol, ať ho teď tím kopím probodnu až do země. Stačí jedna rána, druhá nebude potřeba.“ 9 David mu ale odpověděl: „Neubližuj mu. Kdo může beztrestně vztáhnout ruku na Hospodinova pomazaného? 10 Jakože je živ Hospodin,“ pokračoval David, „sám Hospodin ho raní. Buď přijde jeho den a zemře, anebo vytáhne do války a zahyne. 11 Mě ale Hospodin chraň, abych vztáhl ruku na Hospodinova pomazaného! Vezmi raději to kopí i džbán na vodu, co má u hlavy, a pojďme pryč.“ 12 A tak David vzal Saulovi od hlavy kopí a džbán vody a šli pryč. Nikdo si jich nevšiml, nikdo nic nevěděl, nikdo se neprobudil. Všichni spali, protože na ně padl tvrdý spánek od Hospodina. 13 David přešel na druhou stranu a postavil se opodál na vrchol kopce, aby byl od něj dost daleko. 14 „Co je s tebou, Abnere?“ zavolal odtud na vojsko a na Abnera, syna Nerova. „Kdo mě to volá?“^[1] odpověděl Abner. 15 „Nejsi snad muž, kterému není v Izraeli rovno?“ volal David na Abnera. „Proč tedy nehlídáš svého krále a pána? Někdo tvému králi a pánu přišel ublížit! 16 Moc ses nevyznamenal. Jakože je živ Hospodin, zasloužíte si zemřít, protože jste neochránili svého pána, Hospodinova pomazaného. Jen se podívej, kde je královo kopí a ten džbán vody, co měl u hlavy!“ 17 Vtom Saul poznal Davida po hlase. „Je to tvůj hlas, Davide, synu můj?“ zavolal na něj. „Ano, můj králi a pane,“ odpověděl David. 18 A pokračoval: „Proč můj pán pronásleduje svého služebníka? Co jsem provedl? Jaký zločin jsem spáchal? 19 Vyslechni teď prosím, můj králi a pane, slova svého služebníka. Pokud tě proti mně podnítil Hospodin, ať tedy přijme předloženou oběť. Pokud to ale byli lidé, pak ať jsou před Hospodinem prokletí, protože mě teď vyhánějí z domova v Hospodinově dědictví. Jako by řekli: ‚Běž sloužit cizím bohům!‘ 20 Kéž má krev neskropí zem daleko od Hospodinovy tváře. Vždyť izraelský král vytáhl hledat pouhou blechu. Jako kdyby po horách pronásledoval koroptev.“ 21 „Zhřešil jsem,“ řekl Saul. „Vrať se, můj synu Davide! Už ti neublížím, neboť sis dnes tolik cenil mého života! Ano, jednal jsem jako hlupák – hrozně jsem se zmýlil!“ 22 David na to řekl: „Zde je královo kopí. Ať sem pro něj někdo z mládenců přijde. 23 Hospodin odplatí každému za jeho spravedlnost a věrnost. Hospodin mi tě dnes vydal do rukou, ale já jsem nechtěl vztáhnout ruku na Hospodinova pomazaného. 24 Jako jsem si dnes cenil tvého života, kéž je i můj život právě tak cenný v Hospodinových očích a kéž mě vysvobodí z každého soužení.“ 25 Saul Davidovi odpověděl: „Požehnaný jsi, můj synu Davide. Dokážeš veliké věci a jistě uspěješ.“ David šel potom dál svou cestou a Saul se vrátil domů.

1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon? 2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph. 3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness. 4 David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed. 5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him. 6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
