1 Tedy oznámili Davidovi, řkouce: Aj, Filistinští dobývají Cejly a loupí dvory. 2 Protož tázal se David Hospodina, řka: Mám-li jíti a udeřiti na ty Filistinské? I odpověděl Hospodin Davidovi: Jdi a porazíš Filistinské, i Cejlu vysvobodíš. 3 Muži pak Davidovi řekli jemu: Aj, my zde v Judstvu bojíme se, čím více, když půjdeme k Cejle proti vojskům Filistinských. 4 A tak opět David tázal se Hospodina. Jemuž odpověděl Hospodin a řekl: Vstana, vytáhni k Cejle, neboť dám Filistinské v ruce tvé. 5 I táhl David a muži jeho k Cejle, a bojoval s Filistinskými, a zajal dobytky jejich. I porazil je ranou velikou, a tak vysvobodil David obyvatele Cejly. 6 Stalo se pak, že když utíkal Abiatar syn Achimelechův k Davidovi do Cejly, dostal se efod v ruce jeho. 7 Potom oznámeno bylo Saulovi, že přitáhl David do Cejly. I řekl Saul: Dalť ho Bůh v ruku mou, nebo zavřel se, všed do města hrazeného a zavřitého. 8 I svolal Saul všecken lid k boji, aby táhl k Cejle, a oblehl Davida i muže jeho. 9 A zvěděv David, že Saul tajně ukládá o něm zle, řekl Abiatarovi knězi: Vezmi na se efod. 10 I řekl David: Hospodine, Bože Izraelský, za jistou věc slyšel služebník tvůj, že strojí Saul přitáhnouti k Cejle, aby zkazil město pro mne. 11 Vydali-li by mne muži Cejly v ruce jeho? A přitáhl-li by Saul, jakž slyšel služebník tvůj? Hospodine, Bože Izraelský, oznam, prosím, služebníku svému. Odpověděl Hospodin: Přitáhl by. 12 Řekl ještě David: Vydali-li by mne obyvatelé Cejly i muže mé v ruce Saulovy? Odpověděl Hospodin: Vydali by. 13 Vstav tedy David a muži jeho, téměř šest set mužů, vytáhli z Cejly a šli ustavičně, kamž jíti mohli. Saulovi pak povědíno, že ušel David z Cejly; i nechal tažení. 14 Byl pak David na poušti v místech bezpečných, a bydlil na hoře, na poušti Zif. A ačkoli hledal ho Saul po všecky ty dny, však nevydal ho Bůh v ruku jeho. 15 Vida tedy David, že Saul vytáhl hledati bezživotí jeho, byl na poušti Zif v lese. 16 Vstav pak Jonata syn Saulův, přišel k Davidovi do lesa, a posilnil ruky jeho v Bohu. 17 A řekl jemu: Neboj se, neboť nenalezne tebe ruka Saule otce mého, ale ty kralovati budeš nad Izraelem, a já budu druhý po tobě. Však i Saul otec můj zná to. 18 I učinili smlouvu oba před Hospodinem; a David zůstal v lese, Jonata pak navrátil se do domu svého. 19 Tedy přišli Zifejští k Saulovi do Gabaa, řkouce: Zdaliž David nepokrývá se u nás v horách, v lese, na pahrbku Hachile, kterýž jest na pravé straně pouště. 20 Protož nyní podlé vší žádosti duše své, ó králi, přitáhni stěží, my se pak přičiníme, abychom jej vydali v ruce královy. 21 I řekl Saul: Požehnaní vy od Hospodina, že mne litujete. 22 Jdětež medle, ujisťte se tím ještě lépe, přezvězte a shlédněte místo jeho, kam se obrátí, kdo ho tam viděl; nebo mi praveno, že divných chytrostí užívá. 23 Vyšpehujtež tedy a vyzvězte všecky skrejše, v nichž se kryje, a navraťte se ke mně s věcí jistou, i potáhnu s vámi, a jestliže v zemi jest, hledati ho budu ve všech tisících Judských. 24 Kteřížto vstavše, navrátili se do Zif před Saulem; David pak a muži jeho byli na poušti Maon, na rovinách po pravé straně pouště. 25 Nebo jakž vytáhl Saul s lidem svým hledati ho, oznámeno bylo to Davidovi, kterýž sstoupil s skály a bydlil na poušti Maon. O čemž Saul uslyšav, honil Davida po poušti Maon. 26 A tak Saul táhl s jedné strany hory, David pak a muži jeho po druhé straně hory. A pospíšil David, aby mohl utéci od tváři Saulovy; nebo Saul s lidem svým obkličovali Davida i muže jeho, aby je zjímali. 27 V tom přišel posel k Saulovi, řka: Pospěš a přiď, nebo Filistinští vtrhli do země. 28 A protož navrátil se Saul od honění Davida, táhl proti Filistinským. Pročež nazvali to místo: Skála rozdělující.

— David v Keíle - David vysvobozuje judské město z moci Pelištejců, usazuje se v něm, ale i odtud musí před Saulem uprchnout.

1 Davidovi oznámili: „Hle, Pelištejci bojují proti Keíle, už plení humna.“ 2 David se doptával Hospodina: „Mám jít a pobít tyto Pelištejce?“ Hospodin Davidovi řekl: „Jdi, pobiješ Pelištejce a zachráníš Keílu.“ 3 Davidovi muži však namítali: „Už tady v Judsku žijeme ve strachu; natož když potáhneme ke Keíle proti bitevním řadám Pelištejců.“ 4 Proto se David doptával Hospodina znovu a Hospodin mu odpověděl. Řekl: „Jen táhni dolů ke Keíle, já ti vydávám Pelištejce do rukou.“ 5 David se svými muži tedy odtáhl ke Keíle a bojoval proti Pelištejcům. Zahnal jejich stáda a připravil jim zdrcující porážku. Tak David vysvobodil obyvatele Keíly. 6 Když Ebjátar, syn Achímelekův, uprchl k Davidovi do Keíly, vzal s sebou efód. 7 Saulovi bylo oznámeno, že David přišel do Keíly. Saul řekl: „Bůh ho vydal do mých rukou. Je polapen, vstoupil do města s vraty a závorami.“ 8 Saul vyzval k boji všechen lid, aby táhli dolů na Keílu a oblehli Davida a jeho muže. 9 Když David zvěděl, že Saul proti němu chystá to nejhorší, poručil knězi Ebjátarovi: „Přines efód.“ 10 A David se ptal: „Hospodine, Bože Izraele, tvůj služebník dostal jistou zprávu, že Saul hodlá přitrhnout ke Keíle a zničit město kvůli mně. 11 Vydají mě občané Keíly do jeho rukou? Sestoupí sem Saul, jak to slyšel tvůj služebník? Hospodine, Bože Izraele, oznam to prosím svému služebníku.“ Hospodin odpověděl: „Sestoupí.“ 12 David se tázal: „Vydají občané Keíly mě i mé muže Saulovi do rukou?“ Hospodin odpověděl: „Vydají.“ 13 Nato David se svými muži, bylo jich kolem šesti set, vytáhl z Keíly a přecházeli z místa na místo. Když bylo Saulovi oznámeno, že David z Keíly unikl, zanechal tažení.

14 David pobýval v poušti na nepřístupných vrcholcích; pobýval v horách pouště Zífu. Ačkoli po něm Saul po celý čas pátral, Bůh mu ho do rukou nevydal. 15 David viděl, že Saul vytáhl, aby mu ukládal o život, i ukryl se v poušti Zífu v Choreši. 16 Jónatan, syn Saulův, se vypravil a šel za Davidem do Choreše. Ve jménu Božím mu dodal odvahy. 17 Řekl mu: „Neboj se, ruka mého otce Saula tě nenajde. Ty budeš kralovat nad Izraelem a já budu druhým po tobě. Také můj otec Saul to ví.“ 18 Oba uzavřeli před Hospodinem smlouvu. David zůstal v Choreši a Jónatan se odebral ke svému domu. 19 Zífejci vystoupili k Saulovi do Gibeje a řekli: „David se přece skrývá u nás na nepřístupných vrcholcích v Choreši, na pahorku Chakíle, na jih od pouště Ješímónu. 20 Nyní tedy, králi, když celou svou duší toužíš táhnout dolů, přitáhni. Vydat ho králi do rukou už bude na nás.“ 21 Saul odvětil: „Buďte požehnáni od Hospodina, neboť jste se mnou měli soucit. 22 Jděte ještě vykonat přípravy. Zjistěte a obhlédněte místo, kde se zdržuje a kdo ho tam viděl. Bylo mi řečeno, že si počíná velmi vychytrale. 23 Obhlédněte a zjistěte všechny úkryty, kde se ukrývá. Až to zjistíte, vraťte se ke mně a já potáhnu s vámi. Jestli je v zemi, budu po něm slídit mezi všemi judskými rody.“ 24 Vypravili se tedy a šli před Saulem do Zífu. Ale David se svými muži byl v poušti Maónu, v pustině na jih od pouště Ješímónu. 25 Saul se dal se svými muži do pátrání. Když to oznámili Davidovi, táhl dolů ke skalisku a zůstal v poušti Maónu. Saul o tom uslyšel a Davida v poušti Maónu pronásledoval. 26 Saul táhl po jedné straně pohoří, zatímco David se svými muži byl na druhé straně pohoří. David se snažil před Saulem nakvap ustoupit, ale Saul se svými muži Davida a jeho muže obklíčil, aby je pochytali. 27 Vtom přišel k Saulovi posel se zprávou: „Rychle odtáhni, neboť do země vpadli Pelištejci.“ 28 Saul tedy přestal pronásledovat Davida a táhl proti Pelištejcům. Proto se to místo nazývá Skalisko rozdělení.

Filištíny ti vydám do rukou.“ 5 A tak David se svými muži přišel do Keily, pustil se s Filištíny do boje a na hlavu je porazil. Odehnal jejich stáda a osvobodil obyvatele Keily. 6 Abiatar, syn Achimelechův, utekl za Davidem do Keily a vzal s sebou efod.^[1] 7 Když bylo Saulovi oznámeno, že David vstoupil do Keily, řekl si: „Teď mi ho Bůh vydal do rukou! Když Saulovi bylo oznámeno, že David unikl z Keily, ukončil tažení. 14 David pak pobýval v pouštních úkrytech na horách pouště Zif. Saul ho sice pořád hledal, ale Bůh mu ho nevydal do rukou. 15 Když byl David v Choreši na poušti Zif, zjistil, že Saul vytáhl a usiluje mu o život. 16 Saulův syn Jonatan se tehdy vydal za Davidem do Choreše a pomohl mu najít sílu v Bohu. 17 „Neboj se,“ řekl mu, „ruka mého otce Saula tě nenajde. Ty budeš kralovat Izraeli a ve mně budeš mít pobočníka. Však i můj otec Saul to dobře ví.“ 18 Ti dva tehdy spolu před Hospodinem uzavřeli smlouvu. David pak zůstal v Choreši a Jonatan se vrátil domů. 19 K Saulovi do Gibeje se ale vypravili Zifejci a řekli: „David se přece ukrývá u nás! Opevnil se v Choreši na kopci Chakila jižně od Ješimonu. 20 Nechť tedy král vytáhne, kdykoli se mu zlíbí, a my se postaráme, aby padl králi do rukou.“ 21 Saul na to řekl: „Hospodin vám žehnej, že jste se mnou cítili. 22 Ještě si to ale jděte přesně ověřit a obhlédněte místo, kde se zdržuje. Kdo ho tam viděl? Bylo mi řečeno, že se chová velmi vychytrale. 23 A tak si obhlédněte a prověřte všechny úkryty, kde by se mohl skrývat. Až si budete jistí, vraťte se ke mně a vypravím se s vámi. Jestliže je v kraji, já ho mezi všemi judskými rody vypátrám!“ 24 Vydali se tedy před Saulem zpátky do Zifu. David byl se svými muži na poušti Maon v údolí Arava jižně od Ješimonu. 25 Saul a jeho muži se pustili do hledání, ale Davidovi to bylo oznámeno, a tak se přesunul do skal na poušti Maon, kde zůstal. Když se to Saul dozvěděl, začal Davida v maonské poušti pronásledovat. 26 Saul postupoval po jednom úbočí hory a David se svými muži po druhém. David se snažil před Saulem rychle uniknout, neboť Saul se svými muži už Davida a jeho muže obkličovali, aby je zajali. 27 Vtom k Saulovi dorazil posel: „Rychle přijď. Do země vtrhli Filištíni.“ 28 Saul tedy přestal pronásledovat Davida a vytáhl proti Filištínům. Proto se tomu místu říká Sela-machlekot, Skála rozdělení.

Der HERR antwortete David: Geh, schlag die Philister und rette Keïla! (2S 5,19) 3 Aber die Männer Davids sagten: Schau, wir haben schon hier in Juda Angst, wie viel mehr erst dann, wenn wir nach Keïla gegen die Truppen der Philister ziehen sollen. 4 David befragte daher noch einmal den HERRN und der HERR gab zur Antwort: Brich auf, zieh nach Keïla hinab; denn ich werde die Philister in deine Hand geben. (Jz 10,8; Sd 4,7) 5 Darauf zog David mit seinen Männern gegen Keïla und kämpfte gegen die Philister. Er trieb ihre Herden weg und brachte den Philistern eine schwere Niederlage bei. So rettete David die Einwohner von Keïla. 6 Als Abjatar, der Sohn Ahimelechs, zu David nach Keïla floh, nahm er auch das Efod mit. (1S 22,20) 7 Saul aber wurde berichtet, dass David in Keïla war. David Saves the City of Keilah

1 Now they told David, “Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah and are robbing the threshing floors.” (Jz 15,44) 2 Therefore David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.” (1S 22,10) 3 But David’s men said to him, “Behold, we are afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?” 4 Then David inquired of the Lord again. 5 And David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines and brought away their livestock and struck them with a great blow. Saul Pursues David

15 David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh. 16 And Jonathan, Saul’s son, rose and went to David at Horesh, and strengthened his hand in God. 17 And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. 1 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors. 2 Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. 3 And David' men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? 4 Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand. 5 So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah. 6 And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand. 7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars. 8 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men. 9 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod. 10 Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. 11 Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down. 12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up. 13 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth. 14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand. 15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood. 16 And Jonathan Saul' son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God. 17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth. 18 And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house. 19 Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? 20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king' hand. 21 And Saul said, Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have compassion on me. 22 Go, I pray you, prepare yet, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there: for it is told me that he dealeth very subtilly. 23 See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hideth himself, and come ye again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you: and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out throughout all the thousands of Judah. 24 And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul: but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon. 25 Saul also and his men went to seek him . And they told David: wherefore he came down into a rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that , he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon. 26 And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain: and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them. 27 But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have invaded the land. 28 Wherefore Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines: therefore they called that place Selahammahlekoth. 29 And David went up from thence, and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
